"This 24-hour Greek diner has several locations throughout South Florida, but its Marina Mile outpost is perhaps the most iconic.  Its location near the airport and seaport mean that everyone from flight crew to truckers end up.  Their Greek specialties should not be missed, including a sampler big enough for two to share, and you should save room for one of its mile-high cakes." - Eater Staff

I did my best to figure out what was in those utterly fantastic, stuffed mushrooms during my brief visit to your fair city. I even went there twice on the same day! Maybe you'd care to share a little about the sauce and stuffing. Best food of my trip!

Overall, we really enjoyed this diner because it had that old-school vibe and it stays open all night! The food was pretty good but the presentation felt like eating in a cafeteria. The service was speedy but the waitress we had was too rough with her approach, she almost seemed aggressive. That was strange but we adapted.

Rebecca Miley

Google
Let me start off by saying the service was good from our waitress. After that, things need improvement. The food was subpar. It tasted like microwaved food except for the fries * the salad of course. The dressing they called Greek dressing was oil & a ton of onions with a hint of sugar. A far cry from being Greek. My girls got chicken straps that came fresh from the bag to the microwave. Paying way too much for boxed microwave food. I was sooo disappointed. My hopes were high because the building was cute.

I sat down to order. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich but it took too long so I took it home. Got home and notice a piece of something on my sandwich. Looked like fish and I am allergic to fish. Anaphylactic serious allergy. I called the restaurant to see if they fried fish in the same oil and chicken. They said they do. Very dangerous and unsanitary. Cross contamination. I asked for a manager and a lady got on the line after a while. I explained it to her then she said she’s not really the manager please hold. I waited 8 minutes on hold and just hung up. Besides the dangerous aspect of cooking fish and chicken together it’s just straight gross and irresponsible. Not answering is just insulting. If you care at all about what you put in your body you should probably steer clear of this place. My lunch is in the garbage and they don’t respond. That’s not cool either.

Google
Very cosy place, food was good. But it was VERY busy. We got a table in less than 10 minutes. Waitress was quite short to start with, but got better after a while. We tried the red velvet cake for dessert to share, and it was delicious.

Google
Well guys we are had breakfast at Lester‘s diner and it was fantastic. We had eight guys altogether and everyone chose something different and boy was a delicious. Highly recommended from Phoenix Arizona. Thank you.

Google
Stopped by with my husband in the early morning for breakfast, warm welcome and our server was wonderful. The menu was reasonably priced, the chef obviously took great pride in his food which was superb, the music was absolutely spot on (retro classics). An absolute gem. Highly recommend!

Tiffany Denier

Google
Cute retro diner. Huge menu. Great prices and big portions. We stopped here before heading to the airport, so glad we did.

Matthew Z.

Yelp
Wondrous service per usual and always coupled with delicious corned beef hash and eggs over easy with some lovely eggs florentine to match ! Never fails at Lester's

Liz M.

Yelp
This spot was recommended by the Uber driver, after our disappointing Jetway Cafe experience,, and we changed our destination mid drive (who knew that was possible?). This is a no frills, but filling option. We ordered standard breakfast options and everything was tasty. A steady stream of customers lets you know it's an institution in the neighborhood that keeps people coming back. Service was good and we didn't feel rushed. Open 24/7 so it's available whenever "hungry" hits.

LaNedra J.

Yelp
It was pretty busy when we arrived, but the wait time was reasonable. Our waitress, Lisett, was supper friendly and attentive. We all enjoyed our food! The servings were very generous and everything was piping hot when it arrived. We look forward to returning to enjoy breakfast.

Talia T.

Yelp
We were sat pretty quick, and our drinks were brought to us fast also! It is very busy, so it can be a little loud in here. The food was okay, it doesn't taste fresh, especially the hash browns were cold and tasted as if they had been sitting there a while. It's priced pretty cheap, so you do get what you pay for. The omelette is way overpriced for what you get.

Amanda N.

Yelp
Fast seating and service. Georgina was a very nice waitress. Ambiance is that of an authentic diner. Ordered coffee, Broward county special, fresh fruit, and full stack of pancakes. Everything tasted amazing! We will be back. Highly recommend!

Yelp
After arriving in Ft Lauderdale and starving from a long trip, I looked online for something quick and delicious and Lester's came up and I'm so happy it did. I did not dine in, the inside was crowded and had a long wait for a table and with being so hungry take out was the best idea. Service: from placing my order to picking it up the staff was super duper friendly. Like not normal friendly but very friendly. Also for how busy they were the orders were done very timely. The food: so it was simple breakfast food but made very well. The quinoa bowl was incredible and super fresh- I did not take a photo of the pancakes I ordered but they were some of the best pancakes I've had in a while so good that I devoured them. If I'm ever back in Ft Lauderdale area I'm definitely returning to Lester's.

Yelp
I like Lester's very much , and we come here when we want a good meal with no fuss. The location on SR 84 is the best to me, and it also is open 24/7. Some of my favorites include PORK CHOPS - $17.99 -2 Bone-in center cut, seasoned and marinated, served with homemade applesauce. Always tender and well seasoned and the homemade applesauce is the best. SOUVLAKI PLATTER PORK OR CHICKEN $16.99 Two skewers with seasoned French fries, tzatziki and grilled pita bread. Either one is seasoned and tender. The seasoned fries are a bit too seasoned but a few are good. GYRO PLATTER $14.99 - Gyro, grilled pita and tzatziki, served with seasoned French fries. One of the best gyro's I have ever had. SLICED TURKEY Club $13.99 - off the frame all white meat. Bacon, lettuce & tomato. Big, fresh and tasty. I love off the frame turkey and this is always a sure bet. Breakfast is also very good. :) Definitely recommend Lester's.

Deannah R.

Yelp
We ordered the French toast. The cheeseburger deluxe. And the turkey club. 10/10 Recommend. Especially for late night munchies The service was great and a really nice diner atmosphere.

Yelp
We just got home from New York, and the place I wanted to go to is closed on Sunday. We ended up here. It was on our way home. I started with a bowl of creamy chicken soup. I was surprised at how good it was. Then, for dinner, I went with the grilled chicken breast dinner. It came with two sides. I had mashed potatoes and quinoa. The whole thing was better than I was expecting. My wife and daughter were with me. My wife had spinach pie with fries and cucumber salad. I know the fries and cucumber salad were good because I had some of it. The spinach pie I didn't get to try, but my wife really liked it. Now my daughter decided to have an omelet with cheese and vegetables in it, and some hash browns. She must have liked it since there was nothing left. My wife and daughter both decided to finish it off with some dessert. My daughter had a strawberry shake, and my wife had some chocolate ice cream.

Robert G.

Yelp
Came for lunch. Service was very good. Varied menu with reasonable prices. Ordered Greek wrap with fries. Generous size and pretty good. Cobb salad was large and very good. Tuna salad sandwich which ok but recommend not to get. Lester's has a diner ambiance.

Kate A.

Yelp
I was in the area with some employees and looking for a place with lots of options to eat. I drove by Lester's on my way up so figured it would be good. There was a lot of parking around the building. When we walked in we were seated pretty promptly. Overall the staff did not seem very enthusiastic about being at work. The lady who greeted us did not do so with a friendly smile. The lady who brought us our drinks was very rude to one of my employees when all she asked for was a straw. I had the BLT sandwich which is one of my favs at a diner and it was fine- not really something you can mess up. My employees said their meals were ok, nothing to write home about. She had the bam burger and my other employee had the chicken noodle soup. With the poor service attitude I don't think the food was enough to have me stop in again in the future.

Greg F.

Yelp
Food was okay, typical diner food. A lot of choices on the menu. Service was good, would probably come back!

Giorgio N.

Yelp
This was an awesome place for breakfast! Very traditional diner experience and clean. My wife and I had a great time and the food was very filling. I got a Broward county special and my wife got a full stack of pancakes with a fruit bowl. Very affordable. Georgina was our waitress and she's a hoot.

Taylor A.

Yelp
This is a pretty decent diner. I don't usually like the coffee at diners, but I actually liked the coffee here. The service was friendly and quick. I had their signature skillet without cornbeef. It was good, but the hash browns were overcooked and really crunchy to eat. Not too bad. But I'd probably try something different on their menu next time.

Ray C.

Yelp
GREAT place for breakfast. My wife and I each had the Lester's Ranch breakfast. She had hash browns side and they were nicely cooked, crispy. She also got a muffin and it was also really good. I had the potato side and I really liked the seasoning on the potatoes. The link sausage was also really good. The server was awesome, very friendly and fast. She recommended my wife get her cranberry-orange muffin grilled. We hadn't seen that before so we gave it a shot and glad we did. We got two more to go for breakfast the next day. The feel is that of a traditional diner. They had tons of seating so even though they were busy we were seated right away. I definitely recommend trying this place. We'll be back the next time we are in Ft Lauderdale.

Reuven G.

Yelp
Lester's Diner in Ft Lauderdale is an American classic and I had the good fortune of visiting this restaurant prior to boarding the Celebrity Ascent. The food is delicious and generous portions. I didn't catch our server's name but she was very nice.

Rose T.

Yelp
We arrived at Lester's early in the morning around 6 a.m. We had a delicious hearty breakfast consisting of pancakes, sausage, bacon, egg white omelet, and coffee. We even had grits!! It was so yummy. We went to Lester's because of their high ratings on Yelp. And yes, we can see why they had high ratings! Our server was very friendly and cordial. She kept the coffee coming! We enjoyed this all-American diner with its retro look. We surely will go back when we go on another cruise from Fort Lauderdale. We left very satisfied and ready for our cruise. Thank you!!!

Joanna C.

Yelp
My sister and I decided to try Lesters diner after seeing the Little mermaid show, because it was the only thing open after we left the show. I have been to Lesters a few times at different locations. This was my sister's first time eating here and she absolutely loved it. At first, we had a waitress who is not very nice. She had a bit of an attitude, and was rushing us along to order. It must've been time for her to leave. However, a few minutes later, someone else approached us and continue to take care of us for the rest of the night service was great after that. I ordered a BLT with sweet potato fries and added avocado. The sandwich was great. Only thing that was missing was a bit more avocado on it. My sister ordered the same thing except with onion rings. We ordered the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they were absolutely delicious, nice and crispy and fresh . The ambience there is very relaxed and casual wasn't too noisy and overall just a great experience . We will def be back again! Great food great service !

Jay S.

Yelp
Are you heading or returning from a cruise? Are you hungry, tired, or anticipating boarding a ship but you know well you will be waiting to get your room? Here is a place for you to get Great food. I found Lester near my relative's home while visiting. We wanted to visit my uncle at a nearby cemetery, and after we needed a late lunch Lester's Diner was close. The wait staff quickly sat us, and I ordered water, and Cheeseburge. Not bad at all. It was the desert that knocked me out, a creamy chocolate cake, Wow! This is a diner like the ones in the 1950's. A bit classic. It gets busy pretty quickly because of the cruise ship nearby and this place is historic to the locals so the ambiance is mellow and unique to Ft. Lauderdale.

Olga P.

Yelp
I really love American breakfasts. They are really filling and very tasty! Nice cozy cafe that is open 24/7, cozy atmosphere and pleasant service

Bridget H.

Yelp
This place surprised me! I don't know what I was expecting from a 24 hour diner but it wasn't that! their food is mouthwatering and affordable, our sever was the kindest lady ever! and the decorations were so precious and immerse. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area!

Natalie F.

Yelp
Food and service was good. Nothing out of this world but if you are looking for a quick and simple breakfast this is your place. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the pancakes unless you like cake batter as the batter for your pancakes. For me it was too sweet but it's all about preference.

Peter G.

Yelp
We recently dined at this restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our experience ! Our server, I wish I could remember his name was fantastic ! We ordered something not totally on the menu and he obliged us with no problem. Food was absolutely the best diner food we have ever had at a diner, large portions and great atmosphere ! We do not live in Florida but cruise from here often and can't wait to return for another great experience. Oh, did I mention this was our first time at this establishment ?

Joe D.

Yelp
Great diner. The Spartan omelette is your go to if you love gyros. The Nutella strawberry pancakes were a hit. Service was genuine and wonderful. If you haven't gone...go!

Ana S.

Yelp
They say third time's the charm. Well that was true for me today. I went here for the third time to celebrate my birthday with my boyfriend and his 2 grown daughters , their mother and one of the daughters boyfriend. And the food was amazing and delicious. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and I even got a slice of chocolate cake with the waitresses sang happy birthday to me. Which was nice. Our waitress was very nice and helpful with our orders. The ambiance was pretty good, kind of busy but we got seated right away. I had a wonderful time like always and I highly recommend this place if you're ever in Ft Lauderdale. Can't wait to come back again. Definitely

Bill W.

Yelp
Absolutely delightful late night dinner! I had the tuna melt, my wife had the Greek omelet. And we took some marble cheesecake home for later. Everything was just right... even very good home fries and coleslaw. And, the service was really good... everyone was friendly and cheerful... probably not easy at 9 PM! The diner itself was nice and clean, bright and welcoming, with a real nostalgic decor overall. Definitely a good late night choice for us... we'll be back!

Dave C.

Yelp
Great menu - extensive options and choices. The food is good, solid diner fare. I would definitely go again if I had a need to be in the area.

Steve R.

Yelp
We were a party of eight. They were able to seat us quickly but then we waited and waited to order. Half of the orders came out wrong. Something happened with their Toast register system and it backed everything up. The food was fine, nothing great and nothing lousy.

Juan L.

Yelp
I was at the diner on Saturday around 05/11/2024 10 AM and it was very busy and seating was pretty quick as it was only two of us. The waitress I believe was her name was Cheryl and she was horrible. I ordered a skillet and I asked her what did she recommend on the menu? She replied J don't eat this food so I cannot help you there. I guess she's being honest, but she should know what the top choices on the menu are, maybe that's what she should have said.. The food came out rather quickly which was surprising due to how busy they were., J then was asking for salt she pointed at the table and said there it is I said yes I know it's there. However it doesn't come out of the salt shaker. She opens up the salt shaker and pours the salt out and says yes look it works. I said put the lid on it and try to sprinkle it out she said forget it I'll get you another one. It seems like she brought me the same one because that other saltshaker wouldn't allow the salt to sprinkle out.

Sabrina P.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot. It gets really crowded really quick. But the food is good and comes out very fast. Staff is pretty nice. Worst part is that there's only one registered to cash out and the line can be pretty long when you're trying to get out of there.

FaceTheCuban ..

Yelp
I have been coming here since 1990 never ever a problem like last night. EVER. IVE HAD ENOUGH. #SirLRO

Yelp
Lester's has been a part of the Fort Lauderdale landscape since 1967. Over the years they have opened additional locations. Having lived in South Florida for over 35 years, the location on SR84 is where I take out of town visitors to so they can experience Lester's. If you have never been there, prepare yourself to read a really big menu. There are numerous options with breakfast items, sandwiches, salads and entrees. Like with many other diners, there are Greek options as well (and thankfully so). For today's visit, we ordered a burger which came with fries and slaw and a chicken souvlaki meal which came with a Greek side salad, fries and tzatziki sauce. I added the "meal option" for $8. 00 which included the drink and a premium dessert. (If have a sweet tooth and see the dessert options, you will probably do the same). The food was good. The burger was cooked as ordered and juicy, the chicken kebabs were good, the outside was a little on the dry side. Fortunately, the inside was moist. We opted for the coconut creme pie which was mediocre. For my taste, there was way too much cream and not much coconut filling. For the price it was good. The service today was minimal. The dining area we were seated in was not that busy. The server was friendly, but not that attentive. She had me order the dessert with the meal order which seemed a bit odd. When we finished the meal, the dishes were not cleared from the table, so we had a pile of dishes there while we shared the pie. We will be back again. Afterall, it is Lester's, one of Fort Lauderdale's institutions.

Mary H.

Yelp
The food is okay, nothing exceptional but it it is adequate . It sometimes seems rushed and servers are somewhat stressed. This is , after all, a place that is known for fast service, not a " fine dining" experience.

Al A.

Yelp
Lester's has been around as long as I've been driving and it's a place where you can expect quality food, good portions, and value prices.

Out S.

Yelp
Authentic dining experience with all staff providing friendly service. There's alot of available parking and seating available. The food comes out quick and always tasty, breakfast is served all day and they have some of the best ranch dressing. And Best of all this place is cheap.

Fawn A.

Yelp
I like Lester's and I like meeting my friends there for a weekly lunch. HOWEVER, since I usually order breakfast, not lunch food, the kitchen sends out my eggs last. And they are always undercooked ie raw whites, loose & snotty and practically inedible. I guess they cook mine last because the Cook feels it's faster to make mine at the end of the orders! This pisses me off because all of my friends are eating and enjoying and I am watching, and waiting for my order. Then it comes and it is snot. Please, please, speak to your chefs and get them to plan the eggs to be delivered WITH the other orders, not after them. This is why I give Lester's only 3-stars. Please do better!!!!

Taylor L.

Yelp
Reasons to come to Lester's: affordable prices consistently decent food prompt and friendly service quaint and nostalgic ambiance convenient hours (24/7) Reasons NOT to come to Lester's: you want to be blown away with flavor you want to be doted upon you want a dining experience for an hour plus Lester's is the white T-shirt of restaurants. Palatable, consistent, clean, and does the job. It deserves its 4 stars for the category that it serves it's purpose.

Eric S.

Yelp
I've known about this place for a while. I believe I ever came here in the wee hours of the morning after a party down State Road 84 during part of my misspent youth, but that morning is a blur....Yes, I'll get on with my review. Lester's has a Breakfast Menu, sort of a cross between Dennys and Shoney's. A wide variety of items are just waiting for you to try. Looking at the Breakfast Platters, there's something for everyone. The coffee is good, I'm sure I down half a pot when I'm there. If you go during Lunch or Dinner don't miss the Specials Board at the entrance. There's always something special, no pun intended. The staff is great, very attentive and nice personalities all around. I would have given Lester's Four Stars but my only complaint would be consistency. Sometimes it's Fantastic, like I'm back at Lackland AFB. And sometimes it's like I'm stuck on an Army installation and there's a teenager dripping Clearasil into my overcooked eggs. All in all Lester's is a good place grab Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.

Joan L.

Yelp
Lester's is kind of an institution. Nothing fancy, just good old fashioned diner. I believe this location is the original one. Plenty of parking is available. I sat by myself at the counter, was greeted promptly and provided coffee. When I am alone, I love sitting at a counter and Lester's has plenty of counter space. My veggie omelet come quickly. The veggies were fresh. I was able to linger for a bit, have a few cups of coffee, and finish some work. Solid diner experience.

Kathleen R.

Yelp
The other reviews were accurate. Lester's is a cross between IHOP and Waffle House. It looks worn down and a bit tacky. The hostess was surly. It was a busy Sunday morning and we waited for about 15 minutes. It would have been helpful to b e able to study the menu while we were waiting but none were available and I was afraid to ask the hostess Once seated, things turned for the better. Sadly our server did not have a name tag or introduce herself, but she was terrific. As was breakfast. Poached eggs were perfectly done. I hadn't had sausages in a long time and they were a treat. Even the coffee was good. Now I understand why they were so busy!

Matt W.

Yelp
The most consistent breakfast spot ever! Consistently good! Never had a bad meal here, from the delicious skillets to the massive hotdogs with chicken tenders on them! Haha! The best tasting coffee, I am convinced! Today I got the El Greco skillet; perfectly poached eggs (not easy to do) and it was delicious! Make sure to ask for extra tzatziki! Great coffee, great breakfast food, and great servers. What more could you want??? Tons of parking too.

Samar R.

Yelp
A cool 24hr diner that is renovated, clean, and has friendly staff. The meals are very much homestyle. They can be underwhelming at times and need more seasoning but it'll do for a late night snack/meal! You'll be surprised to see amongst their fully American menu items that they also have a Greek section that includes mousaka, pasticcio, and gyro. I was told the owners are Greek so I'm excited to try the Greek items next time I visit Lester's. They have a great selection of cakes and pies on display like Dennys way back when. There is always a group of cops here so you also get security while you're enjoying your meal late at night lol. There is ample seating and good for groups too. You'll feel like you're in a diner that you see in movies when you're here. It's a nice feeling.

Christa B.

Yelp
This place was busy but the wait wasn't long maybe 10 minutes to be seated. We were surprised how quickly our food came out. As for the taste I'd say we weren't too impressed. My French toast seemed a little dry and firm. The bread for my sandwich was kinda wet and the meat was a little dry. My daughter had ordered wings and some of them were still slightly pink inside, luckily the waitress removed it from our check. We might give them another try one day but not in a hurry. We were seated near a waitress station and kept hearing dishes clanging due to the waitresses throwing dirty dishes into the bucket.

Ryan K.

Yelp
Lester's diner has maintained the atmosphere of a diner pulled straight out of the 1960's while also ensuring a clean environment. Like seriously, I would feel comfortable licking the stainless steel doorframes from how shiny they were (though I did not). The portion sizes were of incredible value, and tasted great! Keep in mind that the beauty of Lester's lies in its simplicity, the food was not over spiced, the menu was basic, and the staff were all normal friendly people. If you are accustomed to fine dining you might not like Lester's, but if you are in the mood for something nostalgic and homely, this is the place for you. I have to mention my waitresses Alissa and I believe her trainer was Stacy. These gals really embodied "service with a smile". Both of them made my entire night with the conversations and friendliness. Both were great at their job and had wonderful recommendations. The service was quick and accurate. I will be returning here.

Howard G.

Yelp
Service was great, eggs were served hot, coffee was good and the toast was toasted! LOL. I know inflation is at a forty-year high, but $11.32 for two eggs, two slices of toast and coffee is ridiculous and I tipped $2.18. That totals $13.50. I don't mind paying for a quality meal, like dinner at a fine steakhouse. But this is ridiculous and I'll be making breakfast at home for a while. I can buy 1 dozen jumbo eggs for $3.50 at Walmart, a loaf of wheat bread for $3 and 1lb of a decent coffee for $7. This would allow me to eat breakfast at home for six days for about $2.25 per day. I have no one to blame except myself, but I think they could lower their prices for breakfast.

Maridyth N.

Yelp
We had a great experience here on a Sunday afternoon. Upon arrival, we gave our name to the hostess, and maybe a minute later, we were called to go to our table! Virtually no wait time. Our server came to our table pretty quickly to take our drink orders, and left us to peruse the menu. When she returned, we ordered our meals. I chose the Gyro Sandwich and a side of fries. The food came out in a decent amount of time, and was correct. My gyro was very tasty, and the fries were cooked perfectly. Our server was very nice, was attentive throughout the meal, and wasn't intrusive. Overall, this is a great restaurant. The parking lot is ample, the bathrooms were clean, the food was really good, and the staff are friendly. I will definitely be back!

Andrea H.

Yelp
Lester's is an institution, and one of the best diners in South Florida. Amazing breakfast. The best pancakes around. Classic diner food with great burgers and sandwiches too. Good hot coffee and homemade desserts. I'm not sure if this was the original, but this was a "must stop" with my dad every time we would go to the airport. Not just the food, but the memories always put a smile on my face.

Jose B.

Yelp
This is a diner with great food and a great ambiance. Food is priced right and you get a good amount of it. Definitely coming back to try other stuff from the menu. It has its own parking and it has lots of traffic. But service is fast and very efficient

Marq L.

Yelp
Typical diner. Waitress was completely disinterested and not very attentive. Food was good

Ron W.

Yelp
I came here based on a recommendation from a relative . I ordered my usual entree, the lox bagel platter, so that I could compare it to other establishments. the lox was good and the veggies were fresh - my only issue was that the menu said choice of bagel - there were only 2 choices though plain or everything bagel - bizarre .
