Google
Very high quality been to bar that’s well-made. The team here are so friendly and you can see their passion reflected in the chocolate bar quality. I like most of their chocolate bars, but my favorite is the Belize bar. I was planning to have a chocolate tour but this is needs to be planned in advance. All the best and keep up the great work!

Google
Took the tour. I didn't realize how many hours it takes to make high quality chocolate. Place was beautiful. People were very nice. I learned a lot and was able to taste some amazing chocolate.

Stopped by for a quick visit while in town. I had read about it in Edible LA and was eager to visit. We didn’t register for a tour but would love to try that another time. The staff person at the counter was friendly and helpful; we tried multiple samples before purchasing four bars. It is a small, cozy spot, I especially loved the wall with letterpress blocks interspersed with plants. Quite a few people came in while we there including a chocolate maker from Seattle! Glad to see a small, artisan business thriving!

I didn't remember until taking the tour that I had found a LetterPress Chocolate bar in a high end store in San Francisco and given it to my partner Debbie for Valentine's Day. This is a very personal, fun way to see craftsmanship, passion and most importantly quality - and how it turns into the magical dark chocolate squares. It's truly a family affair and well worth the time. And, don't miss the hot chocolate! You'll never want a Hershey's or Nestle's again!

Google
This place is ridiculously cool! What a gem. Amazing chocolate with an awesome experience. $20 for a 45 minute tasting tour. They source cacao from all over the world. Ice cream scoops and hot chocolate with a truffle marshmellow, nibs to taste, and an amazing atmosphere. If you're around or passing by, stop in for some tasty fun.

I have been following LetterPress on Instagram right before the COVID-19 pandemic. So when they finally opened there doors, again, I wanted to make sure I supported their business. The fact that they survived the past year is amazing, since a lot of small businesses didn’t. We bought 6 different chocolate bars, and all of them were smooth, creamy well balanced, full of flavor chocolate bars. The great news is that you can get their products from different grocery stores, curbside and order online. Worth the purchase if you love good chocolate.

Google
Love this place for a couple date. My husband and I love chocolates and would love to learn all different kinds of chocolates are made around the world. Nice small group tours and you get to try all the chocolates. Highly Recommended!!

Google
The tour is informative and the samples are delicious. This place produces impressively high-quality, delicious chocolate. I've purchased most of their varieties of chocolates and I purchased nine more bars today. I used to order from Hawaii and New York before I found this place. Try it. It's great.

Yelp
We visited LetterPress Chocolate Factory and experienced the tour on a Sunday afternoon. Thanks to my brother who purchased our tickets online. We had a wonderful time. It's such an educational tour. We highly recommend visiting LetterPress Chocolate Factory and already shared about our experience with family and friends. Once we arrived and checked in Corey handed us hairnets and masks to prevent any contamination in the facility. She is so nice and friendly and explained the process to us (party of 5). David the speaker and tour guide was excellent. We learned so much about the process on how to grow and cultivate cacao trees then ferment cacao. He educated us about the process to the completion from the bean to bar and packaging of chocolate. He also informed us the quality versus quantity of chocolate manufacturing. Which was very interesting. During this whole process David showed videos, slides and also had us try cacao beans and different types from different parts of the world. From there we moved on to the chocolate factory and how they are made. We then placed our masks on once we entered the closed section. It was fun and unforgettable experience. Everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed it. We also got to try more samples. After the chocolate factory tour we bought some ice cream and LetterPress Chocolates. Definitely fine and quality chocolate. We are so thankful for this experience and have now looked at the chocolate manufacturing and producing process from a much better perspective.

Yelp
Oh no I didn't realize Letterpress closed! I hope they reopen because it is such a great tour experience! The staff was so nice and to think its only a 3 person operation? Crazy! The tour goes over the interesting details on how chocolate is made. Also the differences between big companies vs small ones like LetterPres. We were even showed the process on how its made. They had machinery specifically made for Letterpress Chocolate. There were small nibs samples during the tour and sample chocolates at the end. We tried the Mexican hot chocolate ice cream. Wow, really tastes like it. I really help they come back. Letterpress Chocolate was a local treasure!

Yelp
Heard they are closing end of March 2025 so stock up on your chocolates now!!! They have bars, mix, even chocolate candles. Once it's gone, it's gone!

Yelp
Parking: 8/10. Good amount of street parking available within walking distance. Chocolate: 10/10. The flavor notes for each chocolate bars are noticeable and fragrant. I enjoyed Ecuador the most and I'm happy they also offer chocolate bars from Vietnam! Mocha was so smooth and silky. Atmosphere: 10/10. There was a knowledgeable and helpful man who greeted and helped me sample a variety of chocolate pieces. I stayed for less than 10 mins (while waiting for my coffee next door) and walked out with 3 chocolate bars. Next time we are in the area and available, we would love to reserve a chocolate tour at their shop.

Yelp
The character of Charlie Bucket in Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is not the only one who jumps with glee at the thought of touring a chocolate factory. Let's be honest: most people, of any age, would savor the chance to see how chocolate is made, breathe in the sweet scent of warm brown liquid chocolate and sample some of the delectable treats. Did you know that this fantasy is a reality here in our very own Los Angeles? That's right! We have a chocolate factory AND you can tour the facilities! LetterPress Chocolate is the baby of husband and wife team Cory and David. Cory and David had a passion for chocolate but also for graphic design (David) and the environment (Cory). The ingredients (pun!) were in place to get into the chocolate business and infuse it with individual niche skills and thus; LetterPress Chocolate was born in their APARTMENT where the lovely scent of chocolate delighted their neighbors but their landlord? Not so much and therefore they moved to a retail storefront.  For the record, LetterPress Chocolate is a chocolate maker where they actually make chocolate versus a place like See's who is a chocolatier where they re-melt chocolate and add mix-ins to make bon bons, truffles, etc. This factory and retail space can be accessed on Roberston near Mid City and Culver City in an unsuspecting strip plaza where one would think it is an actual printing press behind the brick walls versus a chocolate heaven (parking is available in front with street meters). LetterPress of course sells their chocolate bars in the storefront but also offers tours (online booking, $20/person) and this is where the fun begins! There is so much to do in LA; but touring a chocolate factory is certainly a unique and extra-special treasure that you didn't even know existed! We were welcomed by the official tour guide Wesla (LetterPress is a three-person business! How impressive is that?!) and were lucky enough to have no other patrons booked for our tour slot so we instantly felt VIP. We were given masks and hairnets (tip: this is a fragrance-free tour so no perfume, ladies! Wear closed toe shoes, no stilettos, no fur, etc; and bring a jacket as it is chilly in the cooking area).  The tour consists of three parts: 1) an i-Pad slide show describing the business and chocolate/cacao itself 2) tour of the facilities 3) chocolate sampling flight The first part of the tour may sound like school work to you but it is absolutely fascinating and Wesla is a great teacher. There is SO much to learn - and you actually retain it! - about cacao, chocolate beans, trees, pollinating trees (midge flys do the work! Look them up!), the farmers and countries involved, the cost of wholesale purchasing and shipping (you will never want to eat Hershey's again!) and so much more. Additionally, you will learn about LetterPress as a business, their fair trade and environmental initiatives, their actual chocolate and even about their labeling/marketing! It's all very enlightening and extraordinary! After the brain has grown some wrinkles from chocolate education; it is time for the tour. Granted the tour is small/short and more like a kitchen area than Willy Wonka's air hangar-sized compound but it is still super fun to see the process in action and what goes into making chocolate and chocolate bars. Finally, you return to the storefront and it is time for a tasting flight of chocolate! LetterPress sells dark, milk and white chocolate (although white is technically not chocolate) and even ice cream; but the tasting on my tour consisted of 8 dark chocolate samples. Similar to wine or coffee beans; the country of origin of the chocolate pods gives the beans different flavors, notes, etc. My samples hailed from Costa Rica, Tanzania, Ecuador, Venezuela, Sao Tome, Peru and Jamaica with flavor notes ranging from peppery, nutty, floral, fruity, mocha, caramel, berries, spicy, fudgy, peanut butter-y and even banana! Once you complete your flight, you can also ask for any of the samples behind the counter! Everything I sampled was heavenly! The entire experience is absolutely amazing and can be compared to a winery tour and wine tasting but with chocolate! This is an absolute hidden gem and activity suggested for all making a perfect date, supplement to other activities or just a learning experience. Even if they didn't offer tours; I would tell you to RUN to LetterPress and buy some chocolate not only because they are DELICIOUS but because this is a local business (selling worldwide!) that truly cares about doing good for the planet and people and they deserve support. Cory, David and Wesela are absolute gems. I cannot rave enough about LetterPress! Go check it out for yourself! Even if there are no oompa loompas...

Yelp
HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend going on the tour if you're a big fan of the dark chocolate process. Their tour lasts for about an hour, especially if you're enthusiastic to learn about the supplies, shipping, making, storage, and product packaging. It's a small business so the front of the store is dedicated to selling merchandise and the back kitchen is where the tour is held. Forewarning, it's not going to be big like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but you will appreciate the amount of effort and time it takes to get high-quality chocolate. At the end, you'll have a speed round to taste test all the different chocolate. Parking TIP: There are parking meters on the side streets, and the rates are 25 cents/15 mins so I would recommend bringing coins or your physical card. Products: Ice cream- Their ice creams are the best! Very rich and with depth of flavor. Certain flavors won't always be available on the menu. Tanzania Dark Chocolate Ice Cream leaves off a rich creamy dark chocolate flavor. Reminds me of the Dark Chocolate Gelato from Patrizia Gelato Shop in LA. Vanilla Earl Tea has whole vanilla beans and a light tea scent. So unique, I've never seen this flavor produced exceptionally well. Chocolate Bars- Three words: Smooth Like Butter. Holy, it just melts in your mouth and I think it has something to do with their extensive process or their tempering machine. I was skeptical about paying $10-$15 for a bar of chocolate, but it is worth it for its quality. I would say it's about the same level or better than European chocolate.

Yelp
Letterpress chocolate is a small unassuming store and factory, but don't let the outside appearance fool you! The staff inside is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they have an absolute passion for their product and their process. We took the factory tour (110% recommend) and were guided through the whole bean to bar process, including a factory tour and guided tasting. Incredible tasting experience, and illuminating to taste all the different varieties side by side and learn more about the backstory behind all the bars. After the tour, we sampled their chocolates, and bought a few of our favorites to take home. Also highly recommend getting their hot chocolate. It's akin to drinking from a chocolate fountain, with the thick texture. But the taste was unmatched, and it'll be hard returning to any other hot chocolate. A must visit for any chocolate fans, definitely a highlight of my trip to LA! 10/10

Yelp
Great place to hang out for a couple date. I was searching for couple date ideas, LetterPress was highliy recommend in the article. Turns out lots of surprise. Nice and small group tours and answer all your questions. You get to try all different kinds of dark chocolates, and you for sure will find the one you like. Usually I am a milk chocolate person, but after the tour I might start to change my taste buds and look for more quality chocolates.

Lissy G.

Yelp
We just finished our tour of LetterPress Chocolate and really enjoyed it! We walked out much more knowledgeable on chocolate-making and fans of this amazing local business that works with cocoa farmers around the world in a very responsible manner. The tour is an hour long and includes a tasting which, of course, we were thrilled about! I will definitely look to LetterPress next time I'm search of a gift or a chocolate fix.

Yelp
LetterPress Chocolate is some of the best chocolate I've ever had. I purchased the Costa Rica, Hacienda Azul 70%, at the Chocolate Dispensary, and it is sooo good. I would say it's comparable to Chocolat Bonnat. I'm disappointed to hear the store is closing, but hopefully they'll consider continuing their chocolate-making craft, since they really know what they're doing!

Yelp
Great chocolate. My favorite is their 70 percent Tanzania chocolate and we both had the complementary Tanzania ice cream which my husband said was the best chocolate ice cream he ever had. They make it in house. Very fresh and authentic. The store is small on Beverlywoods which is between Beverly Hills and Hollywood. The service was good but might be better to have ice cream on a warmer day. I was freezing on Tuesday right after a painful beauty treatment in Beverly Hills so this was the perfect treat afterwards!

Jim L.

Yelp
great tour that was a fantastic value. They seem very committed to high quality and are willing to share information about the craft freely.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the chocolate making tour at LetterPress. Our docent was excellent at sharing the secrets of making good chocolate and the time and care it takes. Made for a great Sunday afternoon.

Yelp
$20 for a 45 min - 1 hour tour with 15+ samples is well worth it! Such a hidden gem. Loved learning about the owners, how to make chocolate, and big chocolate vs bean to bar chocolate. My group (that were 3 couples all strangers plus me) ended up being very COVID safe. Luckily. We all wore masks and hairnets until the very end portion and 3 of us wore our masks even during the tasting and would slip the chocolate under our mask. I enjoyed trying 100% cacao chocolate, mint chocolate, and chili spicy chocolate on top of the 12+ they included. You are allowed to ask for any and all samples. Their items and the tour would make a great gift.

Yelp
This is a quick, random thing to do in Los Angeles. It's more fun if you are a chocolate lover. They let you taste the chocolate at the end of the tour and give you a paper to keep notes. It's really interesting how each cocoa can have such distinct flavors! Note: it's all dark chocolate. Reservations were easy to make. It was $20 pp for a 45-minute tour + chocolate tasting. There was $1.20 fee online. I found free street parking in a residential area not too far from the building. In case you have trouble finding parking, I recommend getting there earlier. They also want you to get there 5 minutes early so they can check ID and COVID vaccination. The staff is really nice and friendly. They answered our questions and gave good info. They had chocolate bars for purchase. They're all $12, except the limited edition ones are $18. My fave was the one from Venezuela.

Yelp
Came here for a chocolate tour and it was a nice simple tour but very informative! Workers were friendly and knowledgeable. They have samples of chocolate so you are able to make informed decisions in your purchase. Know that the chocolate is expensive! But this is not like the candy you buy in stores!

Peter S.

Yelp
LetterPress Chocolate is one of the perks of working in that area. It's a cool little shop with interesting decorations. It's run by kind people with passion for chocolate. They have samples you can try, but it's hard to get the full flavor from the small samples. Trust--the bars are worth it for a chocolate lover. My wife and I love a square or two after dinner. My wife had the greater interest in chocolate before I found this shop. She can always tells the quality difference between this and any other chocolates. We did a taste test to prove it. We think that many other chocolates are tasty due a little too much to the sugar content, whereas these rely on the natural flavors of the beans, and how LetterPress has been able to roast and extract those flavors. The bars are not inexpensive, but they also don't contain the ingredients that cheapen (and also make cheaper) the average store-bought chocolate. LetterPress dark chocolates contains only cacao beans, unrefined cane sugar, and cocoa butter. As seen in the attached pictures. The white chocolate and flavored chocolates, and chocolates of different percentages of cacao obviously have different ingredients or proportions...but the point is that there's no junk. Only quality. They sell homemade ice cream that is excellent. The TanzaniaDark Chocolate is one of the best chocolate ice creams you'll have. The other flavors are great too. They also sell tasty hot chocolate on some days of the week. There is also a tour you can take to learn more about their process and story. It's a pretty good tour and you get to taste samples at the end. Highly recommended.

Yelp
We had such a lovely time. The tour started on time and was very thorough and educational. It's so obvious that all three people involved, love chocolate. The time and attention they put in, is amazing...as is the finished product. I would highly recommend this neighborhood gem!

Saryl R.

Yelp
Always loved Letterpress chocolate. But also went on the tour yesterday of their store/manufacturing area...a wonderful treat! Turned out was just us 2 so very personal, and manager Westla couldn't have been nicer or more informative! Learned alot and lots of yummy tastings. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This chocolate is exquisite. It's the best in LA. I've had almost every flavor they make, and these are truly meant to be savored by someone who can appreciate the finer things in life. Plus the owners are really sweet and hardworking. I went on a chocolate tour and found it all really interesting.
google avatar

Greg R.

Yelp
As true chocolate lovers, my friend and I LOVED the tour! It was extremely informative; we had no idea of all the steps involved in making such high-quality chocolate! And, interesting to find out all the different places around the globe they resourced their beans. You can tell that this family- owned business really loves what they are doing!

Yelp
What a magical little chocolate maker! Impressively clean, friendly, and informative tour. Everything about this experience was delightful. A classic "mom and pop" shop where love is the main ingredient in everything. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I found out about LetterPress through an Instagram ad and it was worth all the doom scrolling to find it. I didn't know there was a locally made chocolatier in LA even though I'm not a super big chocoholic but thought it was worth a visit. I saw their collection of dark chocolates and saw that they had some very very high percentage chocolates and in my mind equated that to be very bitter. Cory was behind the counter and I relayed to her what I knew. She let me know that that's not necessarily true and let me sample some bars and gave some tasting notes as well as how much percentage of cacao it was. I was surprised to experience that not only chocolate is the same and point of origin is just as important to chocolate as it is to grapes or hops or any other agricultural product. I actually ended up walking out with a few bars. I also walked out with their black sesame ice cream too; yeah they also do ice cream and pretty dang good too.
google avatar

J W.

Yelp
The chocolate tour is amazing for any chocolate lover! We went for my friend's birthday and it was such an informative tour- we loved getting to see the step by step process of how chocolate is made. And the samples were, of course, the best part. We really got to taste the difference between each bar. This isn't like wine tasting when everything kind of tastes similar... you can actually discern the tasting notes! We loved our experience and ended up taking home our favorite bars. The passion the owners have for chocolate is crystal clear and it shows in the quality of chocolate. We will be back for more chocolate soon!

Yelp
Another business that came up on my social media during National Ice Cream Day, where the words "Ghana Caramel Crunch" caught my attention which let me to their Instagram page, filled with beautiful pictures of the ice cream, their products and interior. I knew I had to come in. They have limited hours so make sure you keep an eye on their schedule. The shop is located south of Beverly Hills on Robertson. First of all, let me just say that it is beautiful from the gold foil lettering in the windows, to their letterpress block letters on the wall and the various chocolate-themed art and pictures on the wall. Their bars are beautifully-wrapped, advertising where the cacao beans originated from. The associate behind the counter was very friendly and knowledgeable of their products. It's wonderful to know that the beans are bought in fair trade and brought to their shop for processing. They do offer tours in their little factory for $10 a person, something I would love to take one day. I have seen the chocolates all around town in different specialty shops and coffee houses. As a localvore, someone who loves to support local businesses, I am adding Letterpress Chocolates as another item on my "to give" gifts. I love sending out gifts to friends and family items that are uniquely LA. The cacao juice surprisingly does not taste like chocolate. It is from their fruit and it is unique, something I have never tasted before. It's akin to mango and apple juice but again, I can't pinpoint it. You definitely need to try it. The ice cream was rich and thick and oh so delicious! I had it yesterday and I am STILL thinking about that cup of ice cream.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
Chris did an amazing tour that was worth more than the cost of the tour in my opinion. It was extremely informative and the geek in me loved hearing about the process from fruit to bar. It was lovely and we even got to try the cacao before anything was added to the machine that (I forget its name and verbage) makes magic of liquefying the bean. We lucked out that day and it was beautiful. Tried the addictive cacao juice and samples of stuff that I don't want to ruin for you. It's much too cool for that. Let's just say that this was incredible to truly note the differences between each of the varieties on my pallet. I felt like a boss! Lol A company with passion and a real love for what they do!

Yelp
Did u know their chocolate tour is back? Bought tixs for the man and I and it was way interesting to see the production of a high-end small confectionary. When I travel I enjoy going to factory tours so a chocolate tour is a no brainer. Out of the many tours I've done this one is different because they show u their process of refinement after they get the block of chocolate from their cacao network. It's really cool to see and taste the difference. I am no hard-core foodie- I'm not going to taste the peppers in this dark chocolate sample nor will I find the berry notes in the other sample but what u will obviously taste is the quality of the chocolate. I was raised with milk chocolate and still prefer that but man I was surprised how much I enjoyed their 70% chocolate. All the samples in the tour were at that percentage! This tour is great to bring out of town guests for a cool LA experience.

Yelp
Such a informative and tasty tour! Great value! Have already recommended to many people and posted a video on TikTok and instagram of my experience. 10/10 experience

Yelp
Had a truly wonderful experience on their chocolate factory tour! Our small group was let on a tour consisting of three parts: 1) a background presentation, 2) a walk-through of the chocolate-making area and 3) a chocolate "tasting flight." Our guide was enthusiastic and open to questions. It was really fascinating to hear about how the chocolate was made as well as the shop's highly conscientious approach to sourcing chocolate from various countries. Getting to see the machinery and process behind making the chocolate was a real treat. And of course, the chocolate tasting experience was marvelous! We got to try nine different kinds of chocolate; my favorites were the Tanzania, the Tranquilidad and the Jamaica, but they all had such wonderfully complex and distinct flavors. As a bonus, we also got to try cacao pulp juice and cacao nibs, which was very interesting. A couple of notes about the store so you know what you're getting into--the space is quite small, and it is mostly dedicated to dark chocolate bars (though they do have some white as well) created from cacao of various nations. Given the high quality of the chocolate and the conscientious sourcing, they are more expensive than your average bar--they average about $12 each. Furthermore, they have ice cream (unfortunately, didn't get to try) and hot chocolate (delicious, but be warned that it's quite sweet!). They also used the cacao leftovers from the chocolate-making process to make scented candles, which we were informed are quite unique. This is a family-owned business that cares deeply about what they do, and you can taste it in their product. Don't expect an enormous space, but do know that you're going to get an educational, personalized and super fun experience! I highly recommend this place and would return if I want to pamper myself with unique and excellent chocolate.

Yelp
The hot chocolate tasted like French hot chocolate (ex: Angelina Paris). It looks like solid chocolate melted into liquid. The cup's size is similar to a Starbucks short size, but don't be fooled by the small size! It's a lot more rich and decadent than your average hot chocolate, and it fills you up pretty fast. The drink's also really creamy because it's made with oat milk. I'd recommend bringing some water, just to cleanse your palate afterward. Also, they only serve this drink on weekends!

Yelp
Excellent tour and chocolates! I thought I'd been eating high quality chocolates until I tried the chocolates from Letter Press. They are expensive, and worth every penny. Sign up for the tour. My husband and I enjoyed it so much that we bought a tour gift certificate for our friends. The owners, David and Cory, have created a Los Angeles gem of a chocolate shop/factory. Letter Press should be on every "Best of LA" list. Enjoy!
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Incredible experience here at LetterPress. I signed up for a tour with my date, and we had a wonderful time with everyone. The tour cost only $15, and it was worth every penny we spent, you get to enjoy this incredible experience of learning how chocolate is made, and how LetterPress creates their chocolate with an incredible amount of detail. It was refreshing to see these chocolate makers explain in detail how hard they work to create this treat for the masses, and yet also try to be sustainable and respectful to not only the suppliers who give them their cacao but also to the environment. I think anyone who has even a small interest in chocolate should definitely come to LetterPress and try some of the many samples they give you, and just sign up for the tour as well. It truly was an unforgettable experience!

Yelp
I went for the tour and, of course, the chocolate. Both lived up to my expectations. The tour was intimate with a very small group. Great info from how the business started to where it is now as we walked through the space and learned all about how chocolate is made. Stop reading my review and just go. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
the tour was amazing! our tour guide was super nice, informative, and made it such a fun experience. It was really unique to see how chocolate is made, and the tasting at the end really topped it all off! the factory is small but mighty, and the chocolate is top notch quality.

Yelp
What a fun, different & educational experience we had here on the chocolate factory tour. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience & discovering all the fun facts about chocolate. We're all customers for life now. Don't miss their ice cream!! It's a must have!! Thank you!!

Yelp
Short tour, but very informative and interesting and their chocolates are divine!! Went back a 2nd time just for the chocolate!!

Yelp
I did the tour with my boyfriend as a surprise date and it was such a fun experience!! The staff REALLY knows their stuff, and provided a super in depth view to their chocolate making process. They also let us sample SO MUCH CHOCOLATE! Great quality treats, great tour, such a rad time.

Yelp
I have always loved supporting local businesses, especially after the nearly two years we've had with this pandemic so I decided to put together a birthday with events and one was the Chocolate Tour at LetterPress. A friend and her hubby joined me so the three of us sat down for the tour. It began with a presentation on an overview of the chocolate trade and a description of the different places where cacao beans are harvested and some of the eco-friendly techniques used to keep the operation sustainable, as well as maintaining the carbon footprint low. It is an amazing story of how this company got started (my friend could not understand how the owners did the whole process in their apartment). We saw the machinery and the whole process, which is quite lengthy, and I quietly wondered if any of the chocolate I had ever eaten in my life had been that well prepared and meticulously processed. And then you taste the chocolate and realize that no, not anywhere close. Because their chocolate has so little in the way of extra crap, it is pure and unadulterated, and it shows up in the flavour. You can even tell the difference from one to the next, that is how distinct it is. I loved the chocolate so much, I have decided to go again and drag some friends along with me so that they can bask in the chocolate afterglow. It is pretty stunning. Plus they sell candles made from the discarded shells of the beans and those smell delicious too. The tour is pretty accessible and parking was easy to find. Highly recommended. Oh, did I mention the ice cream? I will note that I have recently discovered I have food sensitivities to gluten, cow milk, soy, potato and peas, all of which are in some food I used to eat. That said, ice cream became a huge no-no in my life and most vegan options have potato, pea or soy protein. The vegan option at this place has none of those things and I was happily eating AMAZING ice cream. Worth it.

Yelp
If you are looking for a unique and educational experience, I'd recommend a LetterPress Chocolate tour. The tour is about 30-45 minutes and quite educational. The facility is owned by a husband and wife. They are environmentally and economically conscious which we appreciate. You get to sample a number of different chocolates. The cost is very reasonable. I would recommend for chocolate lovers or folks curious on how chocolate is made.

Yelp
When I was a little kid, it was my dream to visit a chocolate factory like Willy Wonka's. The idea of riding a boat on a chocolate lake was the ultimate fantasy for a 10 year old chocoholic. Many years later, my dream became reality when I visited Letterpress Chocolates. The owners, Corey and David, generously offer behind the scenes tours to the public at 10 dollars per person. While there was no chocolate lake or Oompa Loompas on the tour, it was extremely informative and made me appreciate the amount of time, labor and love that go into creating a high quality bar of chocolate. David throughly explained the process from start to finish, beginning with the harvesting of the cacao bean. We even got to sample a shot of cacao juice which is typically discarded during harvesting. It was surprisingly delicious! Then we entered the factory itself, where we saw how the beans were sorted, shelled, heated and transformed into huge slabs which are eventually molded into bars. By the way, I enjoyed hearing how the shells are used as mulch or made into candles (sold at the shop). Nothing is wasted:). I really appreciated how this operation is completely hands-on. Each bar is individually wrapped by hand, and David, a former graphic designer, even created the beautiful design of the paper wrapper. Finally, we tasted samples of each variety of chocolate bar sold at the shop. Each has its own distinct flavor profile. Some were more fruity, others more nutty...all were delicious, so refined in taste and quality, that you will never go back to a Hershey's bar again. I purchased several bars (Mint, made with beans from Guana) and Ecuador) as well as a cup of ice cream. More like thick chocolate mousse than traditional frozen ice cream, it was quite rich. I could only eat half the cup, but it was fun to try. I prefer the cacao juice...that stuff was amazing! A very impressive company with delicious chocolate! Proud that their products are made in LA. I learned how the bean to bar process is highly labor- and time-intensive, similar to making a fine wine. Corey and David are passionate about their craft and it's so cool they are willing to share their expertise with us!

Yelp
My daughter surprised me with a chocolate tour when I was visiting and we had a lovely time! I'll let you read other more informative reviews about the actual tour for the facts and figures. My favourite chocolate was the Belize and my daughter's the Venezuela. It was so interesting to taste the 10 different chocolate types during the tour. Akin to a wine/tea/coffee tasting where you can detect different notes, and after tastes. Educational and delicious! We both bought a few bars each, and couldn't resist buying an ice cream to sit in the sunshine to eat too. I really enjoyed the mint with chocolate chips in the sugar cone, and I'm not much of an ice cream fan! If you are looking for something to do with friends, family or an interesting place to take a date this is an affordable, tasty and interesting option. It only takes 45 mins so you can easily fit it into whatever your plans are. Plus there is free parking on the streets right next to the shop.....not a common situation in LA!

Yelp
I didn't remember until taking the tour that I had found a LetterPress Chocolate bar in a high end store in San Francisco and given it to my partner Debbie for Valentine's Day. This is a very personal, fun way to see craftsmanship, passion and most importantly quality - and how it turns into the magical dark chocolate squares. It's truly a family affair and well worth the time. And, don't miss the hot chocolate! You'll never want a Hershey's or Nestle's again!

Yelp
My girl and I love chocolate and I wanted to do something special for her over the weekend. I diwcovered this little gem of a chocolate factory in Los Angeles. Letterpress Chocolate..I booked the tour, only 10$ each not bad at all and well worth the money. Arrived a bit early and we were greeted by Chris who was going to be our tour guide. He introduced himself and checked us in. The store front smelled delicious! We explored a bit while we waited for our tour. My God, the selections seemed to never end. And we found so much that got our attention. Tour started promptly at 1pm. Tour lasts about 45 minutes depending on how many questions you have while while on the tour. First thing was some information on the company. Then we tasted some Cocao juice. Very sweet but good. Chris had us put on some hair nets before going into the factory. We got to watch as the chocolate was packaged and wr were given some Nibs to taste as well.as some fresh Tanzania Chocolate. Oooh so good. The behind the scenes tour was very informative and Chris was very knowledgeable, friendly and made us feel like valued guests.. Ending the tour we did a sampling of 10 chocolates. 70% dark I believe and 2 limited editions but we could sample as many as we liked. I think we tasted them all. Chris also offered to take our pictures and was receptive to having his taken as well. They encourage you to take as many photos as youd like. We ended the tour with a sample of their ice cream which is made in house. Black Sesame and Ghana Caramel Crunch were both amazing. We had such a great time and so happy to have found this place. If your ever in the area check it out you wont be disappointed and you will LOVE the chocolate. The only negative for us which was our fault was mt girl bought some chocolate and we werent thinking. We went from here tonthe night market and all the chocolate melted. We had no way to keep it from melting before we headed home that evening. But .... We live fairly close and we will be back again for sure. Thank you Chris for a fun tour and all the information on the company.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the factory tour. Started with the history of Letterpress and how cacao is harvested. We then toured the facility and topped it off with a chocolate tasting. Their quality and attention to detail is what sets them apart from others. I highly recommend the tour but you can just drop into the showroom to buy some bars as they have more flavors available than you can find at any reseller.

Yelp
I came here on a whim since I was in the area. Im so glad I did. This is the fucking real deal when they say bean to bar. Wide variety of single origin chocolates, super informative staff, and chocolate that makes other chocolate shops pale in comparison. They offer samples for a majority of their chocolates and products. They even sell ice cream in the summer and hot chocolate in the winter. The Ucalayi and Jamaica chocolates are heavenly divine. Even if you dont want to shell out the money for it, both of these are worth at least a sample. The Ghana, Mocha, and Ecuador were also top notch. Although I didnt have time for a tour, Ive heard and somewhat saw good things about it. I had a great time talking to the shop clerk about the business and some of the logistics and daily operations they deal with.

Yelp
I'm going to sound like a friend or family member, but I swear to you this is legit. We discovered Letterpress Chocolate because they had a booth at Unique L.A. We tasted some samples, bought a few bars, and LOVED them. Those bars ran out, so we went to visit their store and OH MY GOD IY'S WONDERFUL. They start with the beans under that roof and all the magic happens right there to turn those beans into amazing chocolate bars. Do you like chocolate? Go to this place.

Yelp
Heard about LetterPress Chocolate from a friend and found out they had a tour, so I booked one for my fiancé and I. It was very informative and we learned a lot about how and where they source out the beans and the production transition from Bean to Bar. The samples were sooo good!!! We bought 3 bars after the tour. haha I already recommended my friends and family to check this place out.
