"A relative newcomer on this list, Lewis Brothers opened in 1997. The seasonal shop’s selection includes banana splits, ice cream sodas, frappes, sherbet and sorbet freezes, fruitees (dairy-free frozen fruit purees), and more. There’s also a solar-powered Lewis Brothers Ice Cream truck that makes appearances at the Truro farmers market and various Truro beaches throughout the summer. Sample flavors: mojito, chocolate Guinness, peanut butter and jelly, cake batter, limoncello" - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

I was on an ice cream mission throughout my two days staying in P-Town And at this point I had already tried three other places, this was my last place to try. Service was very impersonal, no smile, no personal interaction... Just meh! But I was there for ice cream, so I went ahead and bought two scoops on a waffle cone, Mudslide Chip and Mint chip. It was good, nothing spectacular. The mint chip did not taste minty enough for my taste. Fair priced.

Google
The icecream was great until a bug landed into my icecream and died. Was sitting in the store and barely started my icecream so I went up hoping they would be willing to give me a new one. I get they don’t owe me a new one but the lady in the front was very rude, couldn’t care less and said I put the bug in there. Very unpleasant experience.

Google
We took the chocolate & peanut butter flavors. They were OK but felt a bit industrialized, even though this is a homemade ice cream place. I can't compare it to other places in the area, but I've definitely had better ice cream.

Burton Bagby-Grose

Google
Ice cream is okay. The elderly female employee with long hair stood around talking to our server the entire time she was trying to serve us. The staff really need a customer service training class.

Susan Ashelford

Google
Soft serve ice cream was only meh. Staff was friendly but can't say anything special about the ice cream

Google
Many dairy free/vegan options! From ice cream to sorbet and ice pops as well

We worked with Lewis Brothers to have an ice cream truck as dessert at our wedding and could not have been happier with the service we received. Dave and his team were so easy to work with to set up our contract. On the big day, the truck was a great surprise for our guests. Everyone loved getting to choose from the wide variety of flavors (which we got to select!) and toppings. Anyone looking for a fun dessert at an event should consider Lewis Brothers!

Google
They have vegan ice cream! The coconut-based Oreo was absolutely delicious.

Yelp
My partner and I highly recommend their alcoholic ice cream flavors, Mudslide Chips and White Russian, on a waffle cone.

Yelp
Lewis's is a family favorite. My mom always comes and orders a deconstructed sundae. When I came to order, I purchased a black and white milkshake. It was really good. The milkshake was creamy, and the chocolate-to-vanilla ratio was perfect. The line is always out the door and practically around the corner. The ice cream is great, and they have a large variety of toppings to choose from. I'm never disappointed with any of my visits and neither are my family or friends. The milkshakes are the best things to order from Lewis's in my opinion but the ice cream ordered in a cup or cone are good options too.

Yelp
Centrally located for all your sweet tooth needs. While the scoops are good as a light snack, get the sundae if you're serious about getting your sweet on. Lines can be long, but they move kind fast. Mudslide: Snappy chocolate chips, creamy ice cream and a touch of booze! What's not up like about this one? White Russian: The other boozy choice on the menu. Not as busy as the Mudslide, but still some nice flavors and a good kick. Sundae w/ Snickers Ice Cream, Hot Fudge, Marshmallow Topping, Reese's PB Cups: The sundae is so much fun because you get to customize it with your choice of ice cream, hot topping, creamy topping and candy. To me, the hot fudge is obligatory on a sundae and tasted great in this one. Large portion and a nice chewy lava texture. The Snickers ice cream underneath was a nice way to double up on your candy choice since there were a lot of pieces in the vanilla ice cream. Then instead of typical whipped cream, I chose the Fluff and have no regrets. Kinda made me feel like a kid again, plus it paired great with the hot fudge. The final choice of broken peanut butter cups was a great way to get in all my favorites. Hit just right after our boat ride.

Yelp
Some of the best ice cream I've ever had! We got the coffee homemade ice cream. It had a great coffee flavor without being too overpowering in espresso. When we were walking down commercial street, it had a long line out the door, but we swung by right before we left and were able to dodge the line at night. They don't offer any samples of the flavors but the staff is very friendly.

Agunik M.

Yelp
We came here to grab some cold dessert just before dinner (you know I like my dessert first!). I was so excited to have some cold yogurt as it's been a while and it is my favourite cold treat! The two girls at the counter seemed rather annoyed to be serving that day and very uninterested in helping choose the best option for me. The yogurt was ok, and the black raspberry was a bit too sweet for me. Two stars for being local and homemade.

Yelp
On the corner of Standish St. and Commercial St. (310 Commercial St) you will find Lewis Brothers. During the peak summer season, there's always a line out the door for people wanting their soft serve or regular ice cream. They have a large flavor menu, so you will be be sure to get a flavor that you love. My husband and I love pistachio, so that is always a good choice. Lewis brothers is a small family owned business that has provided service to the community since 1997. Their homemade ice cream is made fresh daily at this shop in Provincetown, MA. They create flavors using premium ingredients and strive to use local ingredients whenever they can. They are proud to create flavors daily and enjoy creating new flavors so if you are feeling creative and would like to request a flavor please fill out their flavor request form...you never know...it might be on their menu next time you stop by....

Yelp
Found this sweet little gem on a very hot day in Provincetown. Located right on the corner as soon as you exit the port, so it's very hard to miss (just look for the line wrapped around the corner). Lewis Brothers has a huge variety of different flavors, so if you're looking to try something new, definitely do it here. Although I've had Maple Walnut ice cream just recently, it seems like a northern flavor, so I decided to try it again. I was not disappointed! The maple flavor was rich and not too sweet, the walnuts were crisp and spread evenly throughout, and it was the correct consistency! I'm not really a soft serve person, I like my ice cream to be nearly solid, so this place toed the line perfectly. The single scoop is a little on the pricey side (about $6), but definitely worth it for the quality that you receive. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Let's repeat the important detail: Homemade! I love homemade ice cream, and this shop had several delicious flavors available. Keeping in mind that it is now off season, the menu was limited, but these are things I do not care about. I had the caramel health, others in our party had shakes and sundaes, all served by two beautiful hard-working women keeping the pace moving along between serving and cashing out. They had standard toppings, and no fancy waffle cones, but the yum factor was the perfect blend of stuff in the ice cream to the ice cream flavor itself, and the ice cream packed into the cones and bowls so that you get a decent serving for what you pay. There was no indoor seating, but there are plenty of places here and there to sit outdoors .

Payal V.

Yelp
Great place right in the center of town. The people were very nice and they had a great selection of flavors and toppings. You can get homemade ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, and other options. The helpings are plentiful and the ice cream is delicious. We opted for the homemade ice cream and were not disappointed.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised! BLUEBERRY POMEGRANATE SORBET Quite refreshing for esp for a warm day, and beautifully stretchy in texture with a nice fruity tangy sweetness with the blueberry/pomegranate elements. Not icy, but thick in texture while melting in your mouth. VANILLA SOFT SERVE What you expect and would want from a vanilla soft serve - lightly sweet, with fragrant vanilla dominating the flavor. Simple and refreshing. My brother in law got the GRAPE NUT flavor which kind of tasted like toffee with crunchy, sweet bits integrated into the ice cream. It was more like a heathbar/caramelly flavor more than it was a fruity flavor!

Yelp
Being lovers of homemade ice cream, we decided to try Lewis Brothers. Being May and off-season, the hours didn't quite work for us. We stopped in around three PM to get something light, just to try it. Like a fool, I ordered my cone first, before my wife was talked into a sundae with all homemade hot fudge and whipped cream. If I thought we weren't going to be walking and not trying to get a small bite, I totally would have done the same. I am stupid. We were talking for a while to someone I'm assuming is a Lewis Brother. Very passionate about his product. Mentioned his brother built an eco-friendly food truck to sell their ice cream on the beaches. While there, some woman asked for non-dairy ice cream. He said they did have some that were coconut-based. She snubbed her nose, mouthed to me that he was crazy, and walked out. The Lewis Brother? asked her what base would she want a non-dairy ice cream made out of... I told him, she just didn't want coconut, although it was coconut base and the flavors were chocolate and something else... It was kind of comical to me. Anyways, this was really good ice cream. Stop in and get something great!

Yelp
Delicious ice cream for a treat. Hard-working staff. Prices are sky high. Live in town it's probably better to wait for the $3.33 per pint sale at Stop & Shop. But if you're out and about with family and don't mind blowing 20 bucks for four people it's a great spot.

Cherry O.

Yelp
My husband and I were visiting Provincetown in late October. We saw the sign homemade ice cream and knew we couldn't leave without trying. We got a sundae to share. Chocolate ice cream with hot fudge and bananas and whipped cream. It was just ok and nothing really wowed us about it. The whipped cream was disappointing too. It just looked a like a blob of cream and it didn't tasted like the whipped cream I'm used to.

Alana K.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I recently visited Provincetown and came here before we left, since no vacation would be complete without ice cream. I have to admit, coming to Lewis Brothers was a pretty substandard way to end such a great trip. There were tons of options for flavors; we shared a cup of the caramel heath. It was good, but not worth the price. The staff weren't particularly friendly; it seemed like they just wanted everyone to order and leave, which is basically your only option, since there isn't any indoor seating. It's hard for ice cream to be bad, and Lewis Brothers is no exception to that. The ice cream is solid. But the high prices and unwelcoming staff make me unlikely to ever come back.

Stina B.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure the staff here is pocketing money and overcharging on purpose. When giving my order to the cashier, another person came up and took over the transaction. We were charged a "custom amount" that was exactly $10 more and never received an itemized receipt via our email. When I went back to speak with them she confirmed and another woman who seemed like the manager or owner also came to confirm I was overcharged. She did refund me without hesitation. After speaking to my family, at least 2 people were charged $1 more although they paid in cash, and one person only received $4 instead of $14 at the register but she rectified it immediately. Other than clearly being overcharged (IMO purposefully), the ice cream is okay but as others have mentioned, the staff seems annoyed when you order a single scoop of ice cream. 2 stars because the manager refunded me quickly and without hesitation and because the ice cream was okay.

Shaun S.

Yelp
I had ice cream here a few weeks ago and got horribly sick. I thought it must have been something else I ate so I gave it another chance this weekend and got horrible vomiting and diarrhea again! The guy at the counter never washes his hands, it's horrible.

Loretta C.

Yelp
The staff are very rude and act like they are doing you a favor taking your order. The prices are high for the amount that you get. All the other experiences I had in Provincetown were so pleasant except this one. I wouldn't recommend this store.

Eduardo F.

Yelp
Watch out, this place overcharges all customers systematically We went as a big family, ordered a bunch of ice creams and paid four separate bills. Two of those payments included kiddie-size ice creams, but they charged us as regular ice creams. Another member of our family paid with cash, but they took advantage of her distraction and gave her $10 less change than she was supposed to get. She detected the mugging and asked for her remaining $10 back, which she immediately got. And the other member of our group paid with credit card, and she was overcharged $10 and got a non-itemized receipt for her payment. When she realized she was being overcharged she spoke to the manager, who immediately gave her $10 back. In addition to these issues, the employees were VERY rude. Avoid this place! There are tons of ice cream shops In Ptown, just walk one block and you will find a better place, without the dishonesty and the rudeness.

Fawn C.

Yelp
If I were to rate Lewis Brothers on just the taste of the mint chocolate chip ice cream I got it would be 5 stars. The ice cream was very good. Perfect on a hot beach day. It was so hot I had to eat the ice cream so quick, because it was melting down my hand. What I did not love about my experience was the entering and ordering in the ice cream shop. I felt ignored initially and then almost like I was putting them out. I had never been to Lewis Brothers before and I did not know exactly what their options were with sizing and types of cones they offered. Overall the experience was fine, the ice cream after the fact was better.

Ed M.

Yelp
Great Ice cream, great community service and spirit, just a great local business that we all love to support

Emily M.

Yelp
My family and I just went here to buy ice cream cones and the lady serving us sneezed a few times, then went to the side and pulled her mask down and blew her nose into her hand. She had no gloves on either. Then handed my mom her ice cream cone. She must have thought we wouldn't see her going this. We ended up paying and threw our cones in the trash. My husband tried to inform the cashier and he instead said "you saw nothing" and yelled at us claiming they are "following protocols". DO NOT go there unless you want to get sick.

Andy D.

Yelp
This is the second time I've been here, and I haven't sampled the competition (but I did have a dark chocolate peanut butter cup from Fudge Factory that is pretty, pretty spectacular!), but I definitely approve of this spot for Provincetown frozen treatery! I got Grape Nut and Coffee Heath Bar flavors (bonus can do 2 flavors in a small). The Grape Nut ice cream was one of the best I've had of that flavor, captured the flavor in the base with that subtle malty barley yumminess and a soft crunch in every bite (lots of actual grape nuts!), and when I happen to get a bit of Heath bar in with a bite, perfect! out of five cones, if you like this classic cereal flavor definitely go for it, maybe add some Oreo or chocolate chips for extra sweetness. The Coffee Heath Bar flavor was ok, captured the bitterness well, but I wanted more caramel mixed in, more Heath Bar. This spot best paired with more chocolate (ohhh maybe break up a dark chocolate peanut butter cup from Fudge Factory into the Lewis Brothers' peanut butter ice cream!) and Busman's Holiday - Beach Song.

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
Great location- you can grab a cone and get in the ferry back to Boston. There seemed to be many selections. No friendly greeting. I had two scoops- one pistachio and one a caramel Heath- on a sugar cone. The ice cream was delicious and creamy. O liked the caramel Heath better. The cone fresh and crunchy. The service was in the grouchy side and the woman seemed mad at me for adding the second scoop. Place was not busy but the weather was cold, windy, and cloudy. Not real ice cream weather! But I had to get my calcium in ;)

Valerie H.

Yelp
Such a disappointment! We go to PTown every year and usually love Lewis Brothers Ice Cream. Today we went in with our young daughter for the first time. We asked for a taste of the weekly flavor and were told (by a very grumpy staff) that "they don't give tastes". We got one scoop of ice cream with strawberry topping. Not only was our ice cream $7 (for ONE scoop) but it was mostly melted. I even tried to go on their website to send my concern via email but there's no contact email. Such a shame. We will not be back.

Cynthia V.

Yelp
This ice cream shop is conveniently located in the heart of Provincetown near the dock. The ice cream is pretty run of the mill. My peanut butter flavored ice cream was very bland - couldn't tell it was PB flavored at all. Prices are what you'd expect for a homemade mom and pop shop.

Allie M.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream and quick service! Ice cream melts quick (it was mid 70s out) and can be described as almost too creamy! I got a small and that was plenty.

Ryan S.

Yelp
Will never complain about ice cream but nothing to write home about. Expensive for what it was, but convenient especially being next to the shops/marina.

Amelia S.

Yelp
Tasty ice cream in the heart of P-town! I loved their selection of flavors, especially the boozy ones! This is a fun stop for treats if you are looking for some unique ice cream flavors.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Decent spot to grab some ice cream although I think my ice cream could have been a bit more frozen. It melted quick! The prices are ok. Get the kiddie size as it's cheaper and a good size.

Anisha W.

Yelp
The mudslide and White Russian boozy flavors were delicious. Make sure to get them together to enjoy a good boozy treat!

Steph L.

Yelp
Rude service. Rushed through the order, gave us the wrong thing and charged us incorrectly. When we clarified, the lady started yelling and arguing back. The ice cream was ok...but the service left a bad taste in our mouths. The location is convenient, but I would walk down the street to higher rated ice cream shops with better service.

Jbird K.

Yelp
The ice cream is good but the people working there are TERRIBLE. Unfriendly, rude, condescending. It was a bad experience the first time we went. But decided to get them another shot. It was even worse the second time. There are plenty of other ice cream spots in Ptown with friendly staff.

Allie S.

Yelp
Given their central location this is the easiest spot to grab ice cream when rushing between attractions. While service was very friendly, unfortunately I was not impressed by the ice cream. I had the chocolate which was not very creamy and only had a weak chocolate flavor. Prices are decent for the area as you can go with the kiddie size and that's more than plenty.

FoodNotes Y.

Yelp
Food: Really good ice cream. Plenty of flavors. Waffle cone was thin and tasty. Ambience: No seating. The inside looks about the same as any other ice cream place. Price: Pricy, but it's literally in the center of Ptown lol Service: Pretty good.

Ashton M.

Yelp
Super delicious ice cream, I got the ice cream sandwich and you can choose your flavor of ice cream which to me is super cool. I got it with mint chip ice cream and it was SO GOOD some of the best ice cream I've ever had.

Yeselie M.

Yelp
Ice cream was good and the kids enjoyed. Prices were a bit high for serving size. I have had ice cream from here a few times and have no complaints. Staff were okay, no complaints.

Nelson B.

Yelp
This place has amazing ice cream! The wait isn't too long and they move the line very quickly. I would recommend the ice cream sandwiches since the cookies they make are soft and gooey and don't fall apart when you eat it.

Eden K.

Yelp
The creamiest, cheapest ice cream on the cape. Great quick service too. I've been going here for years and the ice cream never fails. It's also always kept at the perfect temperature which is nice.

Stefanie C.

Yelp
One of the only places where I've been that I couldn't finish my ice cream because it was just that bad. On top of that, the servers were not friendly. When I walked in there must have been absolutely no air conditioning inside. It was sweltering. Everyone was sweating. Ordered two ice creams. Server states "You gettin' anything on these things or what?" Ok... Could you have said that any ruder? Total came to over $10 for two small ice creams. Couldn't finish my ice cream because it was just that bad. Literally tasted like pure milk, not ice cream. I don't recommend this place at all.

Bill T.

Yelp
The staff is nice here. The ice cream flavors are very traditional and not very varied or inspiring. I resentfully ate ice cream here when one of my mates didn't feel like going to Purple Feather for gelato. This place is fine but I like gelato better.

Melody J.

Yelp
Lots of fresh ice cream flavors in store. Highly recommend the White Russian. Store is very clean and easy to navigate. Love supporting small businesses who use fresh ingredients. And, yes, the Lewis Brothers are likely to serve you!!

Bill K.

Yelp
Best pumpkin spice ever. Really good ice cream. Lots of choices. Soft serve ice cream available. Add ins.

Josie C.

Yelp
Ice cream is excellent! Good service! Went here everyday during our stay in Ptown! Multiple flavors to choose from.

Amanda Y.

Yelp
Ice cream was just ok. Service was terrible. I noticed we were charged $11 for a small scoop and when asked why, the cashier stated that the party in front of us did not pay for their ice cream and assumed we were all together. She was very aggressively yelling and saying how we had to pay for the people in front of us.

Vivian C.

Yelp
This place is straight ahead as you walk over to Commercial Street from the pier. Unfortunately, I may have been spoiled by my recent first trip to Kimball Farm, because my small cup for $3.50 with two flavors didn't seem particularly generous... the concierge on our fast ferry from Boston had recommended this place for homemade ice cream at a good price and a good portion. But the ice cream was good - Almond Joy and Peppermint Stick for me.

Liz B.

Yelp
Lots of choices of flavors. It's slightly more expensive than other establishments but a worthwhile vacation splurge!

Corey L.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Friday afternoon; sampled a few flavors, really friendly staff Mudslide chip (vodka, kahlua, baileys, chocolate chips): creamy, smooth, nice flavor Chocolate mint Oreo: chocolate base w mild mint flavor and some Oreo chunks: not bad, woulda liked a bit more flavor Overall good ice cream, creamier, not super sugary

Christina G.

Yelp
Our first ice cream in Provincetown. There are quite a few ice cream shops on Commercial Street. The ice cream was ok, nothing spectacular. The line was super long. The shop was hot as hell inside and ordering your ice cream was like ordering sandwiches in a NYC deli. We chose to go elsewhere for ice cream on the rest of our days spent in Provincetown.

Leela K.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream, no artificial flavoring here. The vanilla hard-serve is my favorite, love that it's low fat (so I can at least feel like I'm being good.) most of the options are low fat and they have a sugar free blackberry that was husband (shockingly) loved. The homemade whip cream is a favorite if my daughter. Post dinner necessity on ptown.

Nokkie F.

Yelp
Saw this place on our vacation to Provincetown and how busy the location was so we thought we would try it. While the ice cream was really good the service was incredibly rude. The gentleman that served my husband would snap at him and glare impatiently while he was asking some questions due to never being there before. When my husband had placed his order he decided to add marshmallow topping to it and let the man know as he was serving him. The man angrily acknowledged it and than proceeded to look up and glare at my husband while shaking his head. When he finally served him the portion he received (ordered a large) was closer to a small with the cup half full. When handing him the ice cream he said real sharply, "Don't forget some napkins on the way out!" In a manner someone would say, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out!" To a rude customer. My husband even made a point to apologize for being a difficult customer (even though he was very polite and friendly.) I am highly against recommending this place due to this and steered my family and friends away from it due to this. Shame too. We really liked the ice cream and everyone else, but this gentleman seemed friendly.
