My husband & I stopped in here for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was busy but not slammed. We sat at the bar-style seating by the windows, and a smiling server was with us in a flash. It was our first time here, so I asked a couple questions, she asked a couple questions, and I ordered her suggestion: an Urban Cowboy Beanie.
I love how thoughtful the server was: knowing I was ordering a bean burger but in a creation that included bacon, she asked "Are you okay with the bacon?" I appreciated that because although I did realize I was ordering it as-is with the bacon, there was room for miscommunication. She was making sure I was getting exactly it exactly as I wanted.
I ordered the Truffle Fries as well, and my husband built his own burger (beef burger, bacon, American cheese, and crispy onions) with an order of Hot Fries and a vanilla shake.
Our food arrived swiftly, and it was gorgeous. Like, beautifully displayed in paper trays. It was truly love at first sight. After taking a moment to appreciate how it all looked, we dug in.
OH. YESSSSSS. My Urban Cowboy Beanie was the most delicious bean burger I have ever had. Period. All seriousness, folks. THE best. The flavor profile (bean burger, cheddar, bacon, avocado, crispy onions, BBQ sauce, and chimichurri) was complex and utterly scrumptious. Intoxicating. I cannot recall any time in my 49 years where I have eaten a better burger creation, ever. I turned to my husband and whispered, "I'm in love." He could only nod in agreement, deep as he was into his own burger experience. He was in love, too.
We almost didn't want to try the fries. How could they compare? But ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, we needn't have worried that they wouldn't live up to the burgers--they were each awesome in their own right. Each had a complex layer of flavors that added up to perfection.
We left Lexie's full and happy, walking on clouds that we found a little gustatory heaven in Portsmouth--a new favorite haunt. We returned on Sunday for lunch. Couldn't head back to Connecticut without another "try" just to "be sure." I ordered the exact same as Friday, while my husband tried another fries creation--Bistro Fries--with the same burger order. Another amazingly delicious meal.
New. Favorite. Place.
(Also, gotta mention the service is excellent here--really friendly, professional, fast. Love the vibe. Appreciate the cleanliness.)
