The Best Restaurants In East Harlem - New York - The Infatuation

"Despite the name, Lexington Pizza Parlour has a lot more than just pizza. This neighborhood restaurant has a homey feel, thanks to both the jazz playing in the background and the extremely friendly staff. Order the “Luna Piena,” which is a half margherita pizza with smoked mozzarella and half ricotta calzone rolled into half of the pie. Yes, this is a thing that exists. If you’re still hungry, go for the chicken parm or any of their homemade pastas." - The Curious Uptowner

I absolutely love Lexington Pizza Parlour! Every visit is a delight. The food is always outstanding—my personal favorite is the chicken with mashed potatoes, paired perfectly with a glass of their mulled wine. My friend can’t get enough of their pizza; it's some of the best in the city! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff truly makes a difference. Patrick, our server, is fantastic—always smiling, attentive, and makes sure we have everything we need to feel right at home. This is what real hospitality is all about! Highly recommend if you're looking for delicious food and a friendly place to unwind.

WOW! Get to this restaurant immediately. We had a late lunch on a Friday after a couple of museums in the area. Covered sidewalk tables were available to make it more special. The service was impeccable and so friendly and helpful for tourists. The food - top meal in Manhattan. I ordered the watermelon and burrata salad and it was seriously one of the most amazing meals I’ve had. My companion ordered a meatball calzone and was more than delighted. He has a heartily appetite and couldn’t quite finish it - definitely something to share. I cannot say enough good things about this place and cannot wait to go back on my next trip.

Google
This is a sophisticated pizza restaurant with a great range of food and drink options. It was a lovely place to have dinner as the sun set, and there were really cute fairy lights all around the outside area, making it an even more magical experience. Everyone at my table very much enjoyed their meal, and we hope to come back here at some point.

FOOD POISONING So, my friend and I had lunch here yesterday, 3.25 and my friend spoke highly of it so I went and ordered their clam fettuccine. It was good! Or at least that’s what my starving self felt at that time. My afternoon went on without anything else to eat but that lunch. When I was on my way home, I suddenly felt being nauseous and dizzy that I thought I was gonna pass out! My heart was racing and as I got out of the subway, I started throwing up! I got home and all I could do was to curl up on my couch and throw up some more. It was a rough night. I realized then that I was having food poisoning. I don’t know how that clam was prepared but the minced one looked like it came from a bottle or can or I guess, not fresh. I don’t know if I can come back here again. It is traumatizing. I have never had any food poisoning in my life EVER! Until yesterday. I’m so sad that I don’t look forward on coming back to this place even though they looked really good and our waitress was so nice and friendly! I hope the management take this seriously. It is not a pleasant feeling and the food needs a really meticulous attention especially when it comes to seafood. I’d still give this one star only because their beef ribs was so tender and good!

The customer service is amazing! This restaurant has outdoor seating. The cheesecake is a MUST, they come in adorable little mason jars and the flavor is just out of this world! The food was great as well. Definitely coming again!

This is what a neighbourhood Italian should be. Lovely trattoria. We only had pizza but the menu looked excellent, some great dishes on there.

Good food on lexington avenue. Recommended Italians restaurant. The pizza 🍕 is the best. They add authentic 20% tip - that’s I don’t like

Google
This is a hidden gem, something about the name that makes me to always walk passed it with no interest. But when I finally tried their food it was absolutely delicious. Their artichoke is a die for. The owner was gracious and kind. Their happy hour is ridiculously good

Yelp
Sout out to our server Sammy! He was welcoming, friendly, professional and helpful! We had pizza. Calamari rice balls and a salad. Everything was on point! The rice balls were seasoned well and had a mushroom risotto yummy taste. The pizza was thin crust and crispy! Delicious! The salad felt like summer! It was Light and refreshing! The calamari wasn't chewy and enjoyable! The vibe and seating were comfy! Had the choice of inside or outside seating. They also have variety of desserts in a jar. My aunt also left her phone and Sammy was able to catch me 3-4 blocks away! Sammy is phenomenal! Great place! We will be back!

Yelp
I decided to pick up a large pie custom-made to introduce my international friends to good NY pizza. The place had both inside & outdoor seating. It's a simple decorated pizzeria with good choices of pizza, pasta & brunch. Don't be taken back by the decor. The food is delicious... Since it was late afternoon they were busy but quick to take our order. Since we ordered a whole pie (1/2 Margherita and 1/2 meatballs and peppers), they freshly made and let us know it would take 15 minutes. The pie was nicely boxed for takeout. It was still warm upon my arrival home and we enjoyed it with salad made at home. The crust was delicious with a good hold of the toppings and nice chew. I definitely want to go back and try other things. Good reppresentation of NY pizza!!

Yelp
My friends and I come here all the time to celebrate events or just to get a bite. The storefront itself is unassuming but has plenty of space for large parties due to its heated patio section. It's also a good place to stop by for fresh takeout if you're on the go. The food here is tasty but what's really awesome is that they can accommodate for a wide variety of dietary restrictions, including gluten-free and dairy allergies on many of the pizzas. The service is a highlight, too. My favorite dish is the cavatelli: the red wine reduction is bursting with flavor without being too salty and the pasta is well-made and has the perfect bite to it. The pasta alla vodka is also delicious, and my friends love the capricciosella pizza.

Yelp
We had a great meal - and were surprised by the breadth and depth of the menu. Yes, there is pizza, with some interesting combinations of toppings, but we had loads of options. The duck specials and my pork chop specials were wonderful - one of the best pork chops I have ever eaten. Our pasta dishes were nice - perfectly cooked - - "al dente." Try the deserts - all from The Harlem Baking Company and all delicious. Our service was wonderful; the servers all helpful and friendly and the owner came around constantly making sure that everyone was happy. The setting is quite quaint - it has a '60's casual place vibe. There are two covered but outdoor seating areas;; they looked inviting. Overall a great dinner.

Yelp
LPP (yeah you know me) is a great place for pies and drinks with friends or a date night filled with conversation and outstanding food. I have shared a corner with them for 3 years during my partners stint in law school and it has been a delight. Expect and receive consistently delicious Italian fare. The staff are rockstars and the service has never disappointed. Eating inside is cozy but not cramped. If the weather permits, the outdoor seats are great. Our favorite appetizer is the mussels in red wine sauce with ALL of the bread. The francese reminds me of my childhood Italian joint in the best way. Awesome pizza-- the Salciccia is a personal fave, but you can't go wrong with any of them. The Linguine Nero Fra Diavolo and Linguine Frutti di Mare have us in a choke hold. Don't skip on drinks and dessert-- every beer, wine, and cake they serve has us impressed. Lloyd's Carrot Cake is a local great and also a no-brainer. We also really enjoy their Harlem Baking Co cakes as well. This area is absolutely overflowing with stellar food and LPP is solidly one of the main attractions. They have been a joy to regular and I hope to eat much much more of their food. Grazie mille!

Yelp
This review is only for the takeaway pizza (although the sit down brunch / specials look great too!). Let's start with the pros - the staff was super nice and it was relatively quick to get my pizza slices to go. There is a fair amount of seating indoors nd the outdoor seating overlooks a cute neighborhood street (think: open fire hydrant with kids playing). The pizza, unfortunately, was not what I wanted. We ordered a cheese slice and a grandma slice. The cheese was quite tasteless and had an odd aftertaste (I liken it a little more to cafeteria style pizza I ate in elementary school). Perhaps I got a bad batch, but recommendation is to keep looking until you find a slice you love in this neighborhood!

Yelp
A great gourmet pie at a good value! Loved their formaggio bianca pie. So fragrant and smelly in the best cheesy and savory way! Love the Harlem Baking Co. desserts too. Adding to my list of pizza delivery spots: Babbaluci - high end, fancy, coal fired pizza - pricey Pizza Stop - NY style thin crust for cheap prices but not very complex flavors. Lexington- the goldilocks of pizza spots! Chewy crust, flavorful toppings, and medium priced.

Yelp
I came back this time to dine in with two others, but not for the pizza, but for the pasta! I ordered the Pappardelle Con Time di Rapa ($22) and it tasted phoenominal. Pasta was freshly house made and it tasted just like that. Add some pepper flakes to give it some spicy kick and it will be *chefs kiss. My gf got the Linguine Vongole ($21) and that also tasted pretty good, but like mine better. Her friend that tagged along with us got the Penne Vodka ($17) and I already knew that was going to taste phenomenal as that was the reason why I came to dine in in the first place. Definitely a hidden gem in the UES/Harlem.

Yelp
It's closed! Passed by Dec. 26 and saw "Restaurant for Rent" sign! Very sad! It was a lovely place with great food and service. Hope it relocates!

Yelp
Came here with a big group (n = 14) after a work event in Central Park. I was shocked that we were able to get a same day reservation (I called around 11:30am for a reservation at 12:30pm) on a Saturday. We were seated outside and had such a great time. The waiters did a great job: quick and attentive. We ordered so many things that all quick out quickly and were delicious: 1. Mushroom and cheese arancini: came out freshly fried, tasty with great dipping sauces, mostly rice 2. Fried calamari: very lightly breaded and fried perfectly. Unlike other calamari dishes which can be bland, this was very flavorful. The tomato dipping sauce was oh so good. 3. Mussels: tender in a delicious white wine sauce, I ate a lot of bread dipping int his sauce! 4. Ricotta and prosciutto bruschetta: loved the ricotta, the prosciutta wasn't the best quality but all in all still tasty 5. Linguine nero fra diavolo: freshly made pasta in a slightly spicy seafood sauce. Yum! 6. Veal saltimbocca: I think I just may not like veal because this dish was OK, but not for any particular reason. 7. Di Bufala pizza: excellent thin crust pizza, the crust was crispy on the outside but still had a great bite to it. Of note, several of my friends got the Norwegian benedict which they didn't like: they said that the lox was so-so and the Hollandaise sauce was too lemon-y. Prices were also incredibly reasonable...for 14 people with drinks and tip, the meal was less than $700!!!! Can't recommend enough.

Yelp
Had a decent brunch for 4 here today. The best item was "Le sandwich" which was egg and thick bacon on sort of French toast, really good and everyone loves it. Also had the pancakes which were quite battery,(we wondered if intentional or under-cooked), the white breakfast pizza with eggs and the French toast. All pretty good, although the French toast did not look anything like the picture they have on the front of the brunch menu. The eggs on the pizza were super runny, would have been good if they had been slightly firmer. Place overall was good and the staff were friendly, but I would suggest at some point soon management give it a 48 hour shutdown and give it a floor to ceiling deep clean, definitely quite a few areas where some visible dirt around various floors, walls, fixtures etc. Brunch apparently opens at 11- although online it said 11.30 so maybe they can update that.

Yelp
I loved Lex pizza but now I'm gluten free due to dietary restrictions --very sadly. I was so excited to see they offered a gf pizza! Their menu photo made it seem as though they offered a gf dough made in-house for their crust. Look at that photo! I was so excited to try. Once I received it, I learned it was made on one of those pre-made, store-packaged gf crusts that kind of resemble a large cracker. The crust has 0 rise, 0 seasoning, and 1/10 for chewiness. The cheese & sauce are still v good, though. If you're not looking for a good crust, like me, then still go for it. My search for a spot with an amazing gf pizza crust remains. Dear LPP, please change your gf photo as it's currently not accurate

Yelp
What a surprise! My daughter and I usually have a lunch or dinner once a week and on this occasion stumbled into the Lexington pizza parlor after having excessive wait times at nearby restaurants After carefully reviewing the menu outdoors, we elected to go in to what appeared to be a sub, casual, and slightly unappealing environment. You should never judge a book by the cover so I've been told and rightfully, so. Although it's called a pizzeria, this place offers an array of Italian selections , along with an exceptional brunch service Delicious hot coffee started this off A beautiful thick sliced mozzarella and tomato salad to start followed by a wonderful egg frittata ( which is advertised as an omelette) oh well at least it was good I'm dying to give a try with their pizza I'll be back

Yelp
Didn't like the cheese on this pizza. Not sure what it is. Maybe it's not low moisture or something, but was very flavorless.

Yelp
I rarely review a restaurant twice, but in the case of Lexington Pizza. , I am doing so because it keeps getting better. The food is really good. My test of an Italian restaurant is generally Roman style artichokes, and these were the best I ever had. Their pastas are superb. Their pizza is excellent and their desserts scrumptious. Charles DeVigne is a gracious and welcoming host. He makes sure that every guest is happy. No detail is too small for him to attend to. I wish it were farther downtown, but its location is part of its allure. It is absolutely worth the effort to go there.

Yelp
Excellent food. Well prepared Italian dishes and very good service. Have eaten here several times.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times, they have a good brunch selection. You can order 1 calzone or pizza & share it lol, I love their prices.

Yelp
I recently visited Lexington pizza parlor. I ordered the Chicken Franchese. But I got a Lemon Franchese instead. The chicken/pasta was drenched in lemon. My bf looked at me as I tried taking small bites. Every bite tasted like it had more lemon.

Marla F.

Yelp
Really underwhelmed. Had a late lunch delivered today - ordered the prosciutto, fresh homemade mozzarella & arugula sandwich. What a disappointment. Added photos of the tiny little circle of mozzarella on the super soggy bread with completely wilted arugula. If the sandwich is pressed to be crispy like a panini should be - it should be prepared for delivery accordingly. Soggy bread and wilted arugula really ruined the sandwich. But man that skimpy little tiny circle of mozzarella was stingy and turned me off the most. Inedible unfortunately (I think this is the second time I've ever written a 2 Star review) and ugh, so sad.

Sydney M.

Yelp
Reliable and consistent. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. Both the pasta and pizza dishes are excellent, but the Roman Artichoke appetizer is the sleeper hit.
google avatar

Yvonne C.

Yelp
Good food, reasonable prices and prompt delivery. Excellent pizza and the calamari was nice and tender.

Yelp
Browsing neighborhood for a cocktail place with tasty quick bites?? Look no more .. amazing Negronis & tasty bites! Crispy artichokes were our fav!

Yelp
I visit this local pizza shop multiple times a year for many years while staying in New York visiting as I travel between here and Hawaii often. Always ordering, appetizers, pizza, dessert, drinks, the full meal almost every order. When I showed up, I had a specific request the woman at the front was awfully rude and said she had no idea what I was talking about said she only worked once or twice a week and had to get a manager, said I can take a seat because she has other tables to wait on. There were only 2 other parties in the restaurant, I was at the counter for maybe less than a minute before she told me to sit and rushed away. She came back and said she she didn't work often so she will ask the manager. The manager Edward came out and was EXTREMELY condescending, did not take any accountability not even a sorry for the.He then started to ask me belittling questions, no empathy, kindness, professionalism whatsoever. I traveled over 5000 miles and had an extremely disappointing encounter at this shop therefore due to my experience with the manager I will be finding a new NY pizza place to dine at as I can not support a business that puts people in power with out any leadership or people skills.

Reed ..

Yelp
Great food and great service! We had just left go fest and staff was super attentive at getting us hydrated again.

Yelp
I like this restaurant. It has a nice welcoming, non pretentious atmosphere. The food is good - ive had pizza, a few different pastas, and salads. The coffee/espresso is nice as well. Overall ive been very pleased with the service too. Worth a visit if you are in the community.

Yelp
Wonderful, welcoming casual Italian restaurant with fantastic pizza, delicious dinner options and food, comfortable inside and outside seating spaces and always friendly servers. This has become one of our favorite go to and delivery spaces over the past year. Family and kid friendly, great for dinner with family, friends and groups now that they have additional outside space. The name is misleading since they are more a nice casual Italian restaurant than a pizza place. Their Italian food is what has brought us back countless times. When we first discovered Lexington pizza parlor, we were outside looking at the menu, and a mother standing outside with her little one said, "The food is great here; it's one of our favorite places." Cut to two years later, and this has become a favorite casual Italian spot where we've ordered probably a third or more of the menu items, celebrated a couple birthdays and had dinner many Sundays during COVID for their delivery and safe, outside seating. Food. While all the pizza we have had is super with a number of options, we usually order appetizers and dinners, and everything has always been great. Ambiance. Homey, comfortable, welcoming. There are some cozy tables inside. And the new outside dining area is great for friends, families, dates, gatherings and even small parties. We have seen them all. They also cater events. Service. Always outstanding, friendly, attentive. Definitely recommend for a casually nice Italian restaurant.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
The place is nice both indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered a pie and it was alright. I had a lot of pizzas from different places so when comparing it was just an alright taste pizza pie. The pie I got had arugula and prosciutto.
google avatar

Jordan L.

Yelp
Had a great brunch here! $16 for 90 minutes bottomless mimosas (brought to us I giant carafes) + your entree... can't beat that. We both had the LPP breakfast pizza, which was huge. We totally could have shared one and gotten something else to try as well - next time! Space indoor was small and intimate, but they had a great heated outdoor area as well. Server was really friendly and attentive. 10/10 would recommend.
google avatar

Caitlin Z.

Yelp
Wow! This is my new favorite place for brunch. I love everything here from the service, to the food, and there cute outdoor space. I would highly recommend try it out! Love it, definitely coming back. I had the gluten-free pizza. One of the best I've tried in the area. The wine is good and we also ordered a dessert that comes with a mason jar to take home. Great find!
google avatar

Cara F.

Yelp
My favorite neighborhood spot. I love the pesto pasta and classic spaghetti meatballs, the pizza is classic NY style and I love that it can be ordered by the slice. Their sandwiches and salads are also fantastic. Don't even get me started on the deserts...Apple crumble with vanilla ice cream is 10/10. I try to limit myself to going once a week but I could truly eat here every day haha. The servers and owner are lovely people, even saying hello to me when I'm just walking by. It's also a cute and quaint spot with jazz music on certain nights. Clearly a fan.
google avatar

Natalie B.

Yelp
This place was super friendly, served amazing pasta and had an array of desserts that looked amazing that I didn't get to try last time. I also had the pepperoni pizza which was delicious. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in ny.

Yelp
This review is for delivery. I usually order form here twice a month and every time it has been great. The delivery is on time usually. The pizza is still hot when it arrives. The ricotta prosciutto bruschetta is AMAZING. Totally recommend it. Also all of their pizzas are legit. I definitely will be ordering from here again!

Christina J.

Yelp
Their food and service is always on point. The only thing I didn't like was the desserts in a jar. The taste was off to me. Everything is excellent; the margherita pizza, Roman artichokes, lemon chicken (needs more linguini), and the calamari! Muy delicioso!

Lena Maria S.

Yelp
Amazing food and super friendly service. Meatballs, pizza, mussels are all recommended!

Yelp
Edder Is a wonderful server. So attentive and great energy. The food is decent but I believe the service made me want to come back.

Yelp
This was my second time here. The first time was not the best experience, however, I had a feeling I went on an off day. So I decided to come back and I am so glad I did! I had Sammy as a server and he made this experience amazing! The food here is so good! Started with the rice balls, got the luna pizza/calzone combo (UM YUM), a glass of wine, and the strawberry cheesecake. I know people tend to fill up before dessert at Italian restaurants, but dont. This place has the best cheesecake I have had in NYC! Thank you Sammy and Lexington Pizza for a great evening!

Laura A.

Yelp
We keep coming to our favorite local spot. Patrick & the team here is great. Absolutely no complaints big + the food is great. A must place to come.

Yelp
After being in the house for so long, I decided to make running a daily activity. I finished my run and was looking for a place to buy water, and stumbled upon this place. One of the best Pizza slices I ever ate. I had the white slice which had 4 cheeses. I really liked how the blue cheese added such amazing flavor to the normally not so flavorful type of pizza. The only word to describe it is awesome!!! Wishing them great success.
google avatar

Pasqual Paco T.

Yelp
Have been several times. Very friendly and great food. They have brunch that we hope to try very soon and they do delivery

Wanqing D.

Yelp
I really recommend the dishes in the first two pictures. Pizza with vodka flavor sounds interesting and taste awesome! Though I didn't feel the vodcka. The second was mainly shrimp with tomato sauce and a little spicy. Called linguine Nero fra diavolo. The other two were not that good. Dessert of tilamisu was good. Thanks the waitor serves fast!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a review for brunch at this place. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside by the streets. It was empty on a Sunday afternoon and we could bring our puppy out to sit with us while we eat. The food was pretty good- all the standard brunch greatness. Would highly recommend this place!

Jason M.

Yelp
Instead of delivering a fresh pie, they pieced together a pie from old slices. When I order a whole pie and wait 1 hour for it, I expect a fresh pie. I will no longer order from here.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
My partner and i have dined at Lex pizza parlour 3xs now in the last 6 months. We live in williamsburg bk but keep making the trek out to enjoy their amazing food and service. Homemade pasta options are always on point and beyond delicious. 10/10

Yelp
So disappointed with the NY style pizza from here. I am not sure if it's because we ordered take out or what, but when we received the pizza it was already pretty cold and blah. Funniest part is that I ordered two slices of NY style pizza with pepperoni and mushroom, and my husband also ordered NY style pizza, but instead of his being NY style, he received Sicilian style instead. At first he was upset because he didn't receive what he ordered.... BUT the Sicilian style tasted 10000% better, so he got lucky (I wish mine had mistakenly been made as Sicilian). Oh, also I would not recommend the mushrooms at all, I had to pick all of mine off because there was something off about them. So unfortunately the NY style pizza had the flavor of a pizza from 7-eleven. But, the Sicilian was delicious!

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in East Harlem and a very very solid neighborhood thin crust pizza option. The brick-oven pizza is literally paper-thin and foldable with a light sauce and the perfect amount of mozzarella. The crust has a beautiful subtle char with just the perfect dusting of semolina flour. It is definitely a step above the other "New York" pizza options. I love the Luna Piena which is a hybrid margherita and ricotta calzone - simple and brilliant! The only advice I would give is to ask for a size of sauce for the calzone. The menu is also pretty extensive with a good variety of pastas, appetizers, and entrees. Some highlights: 1. Luna Piena: Probably the most obvious and unthought of marriage! Classic, simple, and perfectly executed! Delish and a must-try. 2. Arrancini: Perfectly crispy on the outside. The 4 Cheese is velvety on the inside and the Mushroom comes with a flavorful and aromatic truffle aioli. I would honestly just get both. 3. Ricotta Bruscetta: A perfect blend of flavors and textures with creamy ricotta, chives, honey, hazelnuts, and a hint of truffle oil. 4. Mushroom Risotto: Creamy, tender, and flavorful. It's incredibly savory yet light. 5. Lasgana: A literal TOWER with 6 layers of pasta, sauce, cheese, and meat! The ratio is perfection and the pasta is perfectly tender. 6. Nutella pizza: This is a very interesting blend with Nutella, raspberry swirls, and a sprinkling of powdered sugar. Somehow it does work. I am still loyal to La Lanterna's version but this is a good alternate. The staff here are great and take every precaution with the COVID guidelines. Definitely worth a try - plus they are on Doordash! Prices are a little higher than the average "mass" pizza place but the quality is worth it.

Yelp
After an evening walking around the city, we decided to order pizza from here. We had a large pizza with mushroom and sausage and it was so yummy after a long day! The pizza is authentic, New York style with thin slices and crust. They were very generous with toppings, and the sausage was the freshly sliced italian style.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I were recommended by some friends in the neighborhood to check out this restaurant. On Valentine's Day, we decided to have dinner here. We were quoted for 20 mins to pick up our order, but upon our arrival, the food wasn't ready. The staff didn't provide any explanation nor apologized for the delay, and later said diners are prioritized. I then reached out to the manager, who apologized and offered a discount on our order. We ended up having our order ~1.5 hours after we placed our order. The food was decent, but I wouldn't recommend takeouts.

Yelp
What a lovely dining experience. Staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable at our outdoor table. Our pizza was beautiful and tasted like a million bucks. I loved the vino verde on the menu. They were very patient in accommodating my sister's fussy beverage requests. True Professionals.
