Located on the northwestern shore of Long Island, bordering Flushing Bay, LaGuardia covers 680 acres (280 hectares).
It is named after former New York City mayor Fiorello H. La Guardia.
LGA is the closest airport to Manhattan.
Terminals
LGA has three terminals: A, B, and C, connected by shuttle buses and walkways.
Terminal A is the oldest, known as the Marine Air Terminal.
Terminals B and C are new and renovated as part of a multi-billion dollar project completed in January 2025. Terminal B was recognized as the "World's Best New Airport Terminal" in 2023 and has a 5-star rating from Skytrax.
Each terminal has its own security checkpoints.
Airlines and Destinations
LaGuardia is a hub for American Airlines and Delta Air Lines and is served by other airlines including Air Canada, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, United.
It primarily serves domestic destinations and some international destinations with U.S. border preclearance, such as flights from Canada.
A perimeter rule prohibits most nonstop flights to or from destinations over 1,500 miles (2,400 km).

Public Transportation: Five MTA bus routes serve the airport, including the M60 SBS and the free LaGuardia Link Q70 Select Bus Services. The Q70 connects to subway lines and the Long Island Rail Road.
