LG's Bar & Kitchen

Sat outside at 5:30 on a Tuesday, and the weather couldn’t have been better. I love their French onion soup—it’s the best in town. My hubby got the garlic Parmesan boneless wings, and they were delicious too. We love the food, service, and atmosphere.

Food was surprisingly delicious here for a bar food. Their kitchen closes at 9pm and we ordered at 10 min before 9, but for being that late,, their food was still amazing. Drinks were great too. They card at the door and it's open seating and self service. We only got our food delivered but order at the bar and brought our own drinks to the booth. DJ was ok, but the crowd was so young it felt like a college party. Overall pretty good.

The food was surprisingly delicious. Some of the best chicken tenders I’ve had in the city and the Brussel sprouts were really flavorful as well! It’s a karaoke bar, so it can get pretty loud, but it’s rather large so it was easy to find a spot at the bar on a Thursday night. Drinks were good too, but the food was the highlight for me.

The food here is AMAZING. I very much enjoyed every part of my meal. So good. We got the club, Brussels and Mac. The Brussels and Mac were AMAZING. The sandwich was great but dang we're the Brussels so good!! I want to go back to try more. We left satisfied! The area was on the loud side and we could have done with a quitter setting. But that could have just been the loud group behind us.

A tale of two sandwiches. It’s a nice atmosphere. Prices are reasonable on drinks. It took about 40 minutes to get our pretzel appetizer. We didn’t complain about the hour wait for food because it pushed us into happy hour. Both of us ordered chicken sandwiches. One was a big chicken breast. Mine was a thin small piece. The “guacamole spread” smelled like peas, not guacamole. Server was good. Very nice. Overall we enjoyed it.

Lovely atmosphere with a warm buzz of conversation, unlike loud sports bars nearby. They had up beautiful Christmas decorations when we visited, but the interior is so unique and cozy even without that! The Brussels sprouts were delicious! We were also in a time crunch, and our waitress did well to keep things moving for us.

The service is really slow so if you’re looking for a place to relax with no rush then this is it! The food was really good so no complaints there! Once the DJ started playing it wasn’t as great of an atmosphere.

Food? Fire. Service? Fire. Vibes? Fire. Morgan wallen on the aux. Nice ass staff. Kayla was the absolute boy. The manager, Jess, accommodated the hell out of us. We were on a business trip and had to split the bill 10 ways. She did it easy as pie . 10/10 recommend!

Stumbled across LGs today while walking around old town. I was so surprised to realize it was a sister restaurant of Wilde in Lakeview! Love them! Our server Sam was patient, amicable and super helpful when we asked for suggestions and specials. We will definitely be coming back here! I'd recommend LG to anyone walking around old town or visiting from out of town! Thank you Sam for recommending the blackened shrimp tacos they were superb!

The name ' Bang bang bowl ' attracted my attention. That's what I ordered because I'm very curious how it tastes. Like the name described, it has a lot of ingredients. Avocado, tofu, veggies, beans, etc you name it. I felt super full after eating and satisfied. Flavor is also good. Food is fresh. No doubt I'll visit again.

Saw another review about thievery on here as well: Went out to this bar with some friends a couple months ago. We got a table at a booth and were occasionally getting up to get drinks/dance. I realized my phone was missing. I asked ALL STAFF at the bar if they'd seen my phone. Security was snarky and unhelpful. The last staff member I talked to was the busser who was cleaning empty drinks off tables. When I approached him he said he "wasn't allowed to disclose that type of information and didn't know anything about a phone." After several attempts to get him to go check "the back" for my phone, he finally brought it out and was "suspicious" if it was mine or not. I had to ask him multiple times to put in my password so I can prove to him it was mine. This man was definitely trying to steal my phone. Never coming back.

Great spot for brunch! I was taking a walk around Lincoln park this morning and decided to stop in for a quick bite to eat. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! I ordered the small portion of the biscuits and gravy which was still a lot of food! It came out extremely quickly and was absolutely delicious. I ended up just sitting at the bar which was very nice. The place wasn't too loud and had lots of TVs to watch the games. They're also very accommodating on what you want to watch. All in all will definitely be returning!!

Came in hungry and in a rush the food was amazing and the service was even better! My server was wuick.and efficient and the back up server was very attentive and came.over to help out when I needed water and was out of ranch! 5 stars for Ben & Jc for the amazing customer service and to LGs for the great eats

Almost completely empty on a Sunday 12pm (no reservation needed). My friends and I enjoyed some great brunch items, but ultimately felt the vibe was a bit sleepy despite there being a good DJ on site. The music wasn't too loud, which we appreciate so we could have conversation. To me, LG's is a hit-or-miss bar for your weekend nights. As a brunch place, it seems to fall right at 3 stars for this review. I'd still come back for an impromptu brunch or dinner. It's helpful that they have so much space! Nice bar in the heart of Old Town. Had a nice time, with great music on a Saturday night. The DJ did an awesome job! We had a wine and beer to begin with. We ordered Bang Bang bowl with Tofu to share. It was colorful and delicious. Nice experience overall!

I think LG's is more known if you are looking for a bar, but I came here for dinner & drinks with friends and had a great time! Our server was great and we were seated outside right away. Sitting on outside their entrance was great. We could hear the music from inside, but it wasn't too loud. LG's is right on Wells St. so it was pretty busy all around LG's, but our picnic style table outside wasn't disturbed at all, it was a great experience. Our food and drinks were very yummy. The salad was huge and super filling. It had lots of good toppings, my favorite was the giant shreds of parm & the craisins. My friends all got the steak wrap which looked perfectly cooked. They were big fans. Our fries were delicious too, I couldn't stop eating them. If you are looking for a place to eat and drink, this is a great option!

Fun spot on wells. They sometimes have decent drink specials. Karaoke for whoever is feelin' themselves. The blackened chicken club is bomb. Get honey mustard on the side.

We came for trivia, and the prices, ambiance and food were all amazing for a fun Thursday night! I started with a casamigos margarita that was on special for only $10! It was delicious and so was my Prosecco that I had next. We shared the spinach and artichoke dip, which was delicious with good crispy fried tortilla chips too. We also got the wedge salad, which had way too much dressing but delicious other than that. The portion was huge too, especially for the price. We also got Buffalo bone in wings, which surprisingly was more pricier than the other dishes but tasty and very good bar wings. I'm glad we came - it was a fun time with great food.

A nice spacious bar with a decent selection of bar eats, drinks, and activities. I've been to LG's twice--once for trivia night which is does pretty well and another for dinner. During regular nights, they'll have a bunch of TVs playing sports games and will be blasting music. I enjoy the type of music they play so I was enjoying it but probably not the most conducive place to have a conversation. I feel like this place has great potential to have a dance floor late at night but like most places in Old Town people don't really dance. They have fantastic happy hour/weekly special deals which are super worth it. Their tailgate tray on Thursdays is 10/10 value. If you order any appetizers you have to get the cheese curds! I feel like their burgers are very average.

Last summer Thursday's karaoke was the best! They seem to now be on the fence about bringing it back though! The summer will not be same without post volleyball karaoke. "BRING KARAOKE BACK"

Zyhra, killed it tonight. Me and my friends had the funnest dinner because of her. It was refreshing having someone so down earth and an expert at the menu. If you're going there request her section.

I was really hungry and the wait next door was too long so we came in here. My friend and I both sat at the bar and ordered pornstar martinis. Hers came with the original recipe (vanilla vodka) while I opted for regular vodka. It was decent but I thought the lil hanging man was cute. I had the bacon Mac and cheese which was also ok. Our bar tender was also the manager and he was super nice and friendly.

There are too many options on Wells to have mediocre food, service and drinks. If the expense were lower, you could justify the average experience but $20 fish and chips with 2 pieces of protein and scant, room temperature fries? Nah. Our server was lovely and overworked but the balance of our experience will push us to the myriad other options along the strip.

Good for a quick happy hour. The carne asada tacos were very solid, would maybe come back just for the tacos. The marg tower was decent, the pineapple and mango flavors were better. Our waiter said it was $55 and would serve 10-12 drinks, but it was definitely more like 4-8.

If the hostess and her "bf" bouncer who were on staff the 18th around 5-6pm are still employed, that truly means the manager didn't share with the owner how they speak to their customers. We were told they were at "capacity"... if you've been at LG's you know it's simply impossible for that, and to "wait the f*ck outside because you can't wait here" As we go outside, 5 people are let right in... so we come back to ask why and the response, wish I was kidding, "since you guys are being such fucking assholes just come in" Anyone who has been in the service business knows they is not okay, better yet when being greeted. Again, if I return with those 2 still staffed, I will be reaching out to ownership as obviously management didn't care to take action. Another reminder why everyone always goes next door!!

We came for the famous popular trivia night and strayed for the manager Christian. Top tier service! All the tables were booked ahead of time and they squeezed us in! They gave us the best table they had! Daniel slayed it at the bar sometimes they are inattentive here. He was GIVING. He was the hottest best bar tender I've ever seen. YOU GUYS HAVE TO COME HERE FOR THURSDAY TRIVIA.

I went to LG's with a group of friends. I walked up to the bar, and ordered word for word "a rum and coke, and two tequila shots". The bartender told me he could take care of the bill at the machine so I didn't need to bother signing. Said "Thanks! Give yourself 15%!" As I walked away, I got a notification on my phone that I was charged over $130 from LGs. I walked back up to the bartender, and asked him why he just charged me $130 for a mixed drink and two well shots. He responded "Well, you ordered top shelf liquor." I never asked for top shelf, and he sure didn't pour me top shelf liquor. It was clearly well tequila and rum. I told him that this was ridiculous, and that I wanted to speak to a manager. The bartender got close to me, and said "Do you want me to kick you the f*** out right now? Didn't think so. Just drop it, ok?" I walked away and have not been back since. Straight thievery taking place here. I would highly recommend avoiding.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Let me keep this short and simple. The bouncers get bored and try to start fights with passerby's for entertainment. I thought the first two times I went it was a fluke, but I have seen it happen FOUR TIMES NOW while waiting in line to get in. Bar itself isn't even worth it if you can make it in there without getting beaten up by the bouncers. This place is really terrible.

Good bar to go out to with friends, drinks and prices are average. The only downside is extremely rude security that will swear at you.

Overpriced drinks for overhyped people. The bar had djs and whatnot but the people were so dead. The drinks were not very good, the bartender was either new or legitimately does not know what a standard drink taste like. Felt like college dive bar at best

On a Sunday at 8pm with NOBODY here. Two High Noons came to $25. THE MOST expensive price I have ever paid in my life! Do not come here.

Highly recommend LG's for your next private party. We had our own section that our guests were directed to. Their large shared plates were perfect for our event, everything tasted great, came out hot, and was replenished as needed. Our host for our event, Britt, took great care of all our attendees at the bar and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening.

We chose to host our company networking event at LG's on Friday evening. They went above and beyond to make sure our event ran smoothly and provided the best customer service. We had a designated area for our event of 30 attendees. I had preordered some plates to share and our event's bartender, Britt, paced the food to come out throughout the evening. Food was replenished in a timely manner alongside any additional plates we needed. The staff was quick to clean up any used plates and glasses to keep our space tidy. Britt did a wonderful job making sure everyone was attended to with their beverages and continued to check in with me throughout the evening to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend booking a private event at LG's!

Stopped here for brunch after a terrible experience a few doors down. The ambiance here is welcoming, the music is a vibe, the service is the best I've had in Chicago, and the food!!!! The food is nothing short of excellent. Thank you, Zoe, for turning my frown upside down on this snowy Saturday in Chicago!

Been here a couple times & i did have fun once, but there's 20 other places to look at before this one. Last time i was there a security guard kicked me out for having nicotine pouches, kind of weird. That may just be my opinion.

Popped in here on a Friday afternoon before meeting family for the Immersive Monet exhibit. My husband and I each had a drink and we shared the tater kegs. The drinks were both lovely (an Old Fashioned for him and a Pornstar martini for me) and the kegs (super sized tots) were very tasty. The two dipping sauces were tasty, too. We enjoyed it so much, we're planning to come back downtown this weekend for a Second City show and dinner here!

Definitely get the Bang Bang bowl with shrimp and chicken fingers! Shrimp and chicken are lightly breaded and huge!

We came here to get an early start on St. Paddy's day (with D's not T's) and we always enjoyed Lady Gregory's up north but did not want to go that far. My sister arrived first, and found the host very funny and engaging. She sat for a little longer than expected, but after a while the waitress approached and she ordered Frites with aoli. (I wanted fries with beer cheese but apparently they stopped serving it. May want to upgrade the menu folks). I arrived and ordered a Black Velvet (Guinness and cider). The Kennedy pics in the decor was nice, plus the fireplace and library added to the homey feel of the place, despite it being much smaller than Lady Gregory's. The ladies' rooms were nicely maintained, but it was pretty early in the evening. We shared the fish and chips (we gave up red meat for Lent) and they were good. The fish was not bland but not seasoned either. After a couple more drinks we skipped dessert. We didn't want a peanut butter/chocolate chip skillet cookie with ice cream, or JUST ice cream, but it's good that that was an option.

Hated this place, which was too bad because the food was actually pretty good. The problem is the arrogant DJ and the music being played excessively loud. Everyone in there had to shout at each other to be heard. I asked the waitstaff to lower the volume and they stated that the DJ would not. Seriously, the DJ runs the place??? Will never go back or recommend.

Came here for brunch. I wish they had their regular menu all day and not just the brunch menu . They have stellar food and the brunch menu doesn't do it justice. I wish they had their grilled cheese on the brunch menu! I settled with a salad and soup. If you are in a rush this is not the place for you as the food takes awhile. It is nice that it is easy to get a table for a large group easily and the noise level is just right... you can actually have a conversation with somebody in your party. The server was attentive and refilled the coffee without us asking.

I came here on 1/18/24 with my friend for her birthday. We were waiting for the comedy club down the street to be open, so we had about 2 hours to kill. We've never been to this bar before, and I really loved the ambiance! There's plenty of room between tables, and the booth we were seated in was really comfy. The pictures on the wall are fun, the drinks were good, and they even had trivia going while we were there. My one complaint was our waitress took a very long time to greet us, and she seemed slightly annoyed the whole time. She hardly made eye contact, her answers were short, and in the two hours we were there, we saw her three times and only got two drinks. It was a special occasion, and it really bummed the mood to feel like we were such a bother. It was busy when we came in but, our server specifically, had more than enough time to hang out at other tables or the server station by the bar than talk to us. By the time we needed to leave, the only way we could get her attention was to stand up and start putting on our coats and try to make eye contact with her. I paid our tab on a handheld card machine while she stared at me which felt extremely weird. I tipped 20% only because the option on the screen was 20%, 25%, or 30%. I've been a server for years, and I would never stare someone down while they were tipping me.... Very weird and uncomfortable. I'll come back because the bar is super cool for a night out with friends, but I hope we have a different waitress next time. She bummed me out.

I came here last week on a Friday around 9pm after our Beach Volleyball win! Let's start off with the good. The place is very very cool as it has a vintage feel of an Irish pub. The library in the back is very neat. I didn't order food, but some of my friends did. The Grilled Cheese with a side of tomato soup looked amazing and she said it was pretty good. Another pro is that they gave me a very hefty pour of Buffalo Trace when I asked for it neat. Also, they have a solid draft list. Last pro is that the DJ was awesome with playing 90s hits and old school R&B! Onto the cons. We were seated right away for a table of 7, but we only had 4 as the other members of our party went home quickly to change clothes. I don't know if they were waiting for our full party to arrive, but a server never came around to take our order for at least drinks after they poured us waters. So they knew we were there. I had to go up to the bartender to ask for a waiter to serve us after waiting for about 20 mins. It wasn't even busy and that's just bad business. Around midnight it was packed as the Friday Night Party crowd stumbled in. Our waiter came around and told us that he was closing out and going home and told us it was last call. I was like what the heck, what bar doesn't have a wait staff for tables when it's hopping? So we all literally closed out and left as we didn't want to have to fight the crowd at the bar. I mean shutting down the kitchen at midnight makes sense. But not having waiters taking drink orders? I watch too much John Taffer on Bar Rescue and it seems like common sense to know that is not good for business. Overall, LG's is a good place to come and party and eat some food. Maybe they are just working out some kinks as they are fairly new.

Laura was the best waitress I've had in quite some time. Amazing service! Place was completely packed and she still checked on us before I could even finish my drink.

Brand new place in a great location on Wells Street. They did an incredible job with the interior design, especially the design of the bar and the two semi-private rooms in the back (wine cellar and library). I don't want to be too critical since it is so new, but I think this place might struggle to find their identity. They priced their food/drinks similar to The Vig next door, which means about $1-3 too much for drinks and $2-$5 too much for food items. Some examples of this would be $6 for a side of fries, $19 for a chicken pot pie, $18 for fish and chips, etc. Now if they truly execute on the food items and keep them at a high quality, then perhaps this will be somewhat justified. But I will have to try a few more of the items before I make up my mind on the food. Back to the identity, it is an Irish Pub that that is built to be upscale, but was also blasting hip-hop and electronic music with really dark lighting. If they want to take some of the overflow night time crowd from Vig, Benchmark, and others then that makes sense, but if they are shooting for an actual Irish pub feel then that will need to be adjusted. Overall I am really excited that this place has finally opened in great spot in Old Town, but I will need to visit a few more times before I can determine if this will be a regular stop for me.

Went here for a post volleyball game drink, and it was the perfect vibe for a group of young professionals. The service and food were great, and the music was all the old 2000s bops. Highly recommend for a chill drink and American cuisine!

Went to this bar on our 2nd night of our Chicago visit. We had the most awful, rude, arrogant bartender I've ever encountered in my life! He is making this establishment look bad! Wish I knew his name to blast him but he's not worth the effort. He had a chip on his shoulder from the get go and I should've requested a different bartender but unfortunately I did not. He should get a job not dealing with the public, his personality sucks!!!

This place has the worst food and the WORST service!!!! I ordered a chicken sandwich that was completely raw and didn't come with any kind of side. Our waitress took forever to take our order, never checked how our food was and had zero clue what was going on. Everything is so over priced, do not waste your time!!!!

I came here after taking a workshop at Second City. We decided to sit out in the patio since it was a nice day. The waitress was nice and the food came out super quick. We all had the ultimate grilled cheese that had caramelized onions, tomatoes, candied bacon, and four cheese on parmesan sourdough bread. It was served with crispy French fries. Yum! This is the best grilled cheese ever! The sandwich was so cheesy and the bread had a good crunch. Nice touch with the onions and bacon. Plus the fries were very addicting.

We tried this place for brunch on whim because Kanela Breakfast Club was busy. We walked in and it was completely empty, which was an immediate red flag. I ordered the avocado toast, and it was extremely inedible. The avocado toast with drenched in balsamic vinegar, and the eggs tasted like powdered eggs. I would not recommend for brunch, but maybe it would be fine for going out for drinks.

Fun place to visit. Great waitress with the twists/locs in her hair. She misquoted a happy hour price, but still honored it. Only had drinks, beer and a shot then the place turned into a club. People everywhere, it's COVID, time to go. But right before existing things got weird, they stole our chairs so that people can dance, also started to apply a $10 cover charge for new comers. They had a raffle for a 65" TV, but is it coincidence that the same great bartender won it? I'm just saying normally, people who work there can't enter. But at $15 each, does this Samsung stay in-house??? Sketchy, no worries for me, I didn't enter. Life's a Scam.
