Where to Stay and Eat in Vancouver

"Though like any West Coast city Vancouver is perhaps known for its funky side, its youthful side, its design-happy hipster side, it’s also a city that can do grown-up with the best of them. This is no less true in the hospitality world than it is in any area of life. A case in point is L’Hermitage, an absolutely classic small luxury hotel, right in the middle of downtown." - Kevin Chau

"Step inside the ornate lobby and prepare to be wowed by L’Hermitage’s dramatic suspended scarlet sculpture and stylish monochrome mosaic marble floor. After check-in, guests can visit the bright fifth-floor L’Orangerie lounge for tea, coffee, or a breakfast buffet and spend time organizing their stay with the concierge. In summer, go outside to relax in the rooftop garden, which features a lap pool and hot tub. The independently owned L’Hermitage is a true boutique hotel with a European flavor and sophisticated urban style in Vancouver ’s downtown entertainment district. Rooms are pleasingly spacious, with the majority boasting fireplaces, Italian marble bathrooms, and a full program of extras including plasma HDTVs, Nespresso machines, and free Wi-Fi. Upgrade to enjoy rooms with solariums, full kitchens, and balconies. Away from the glamour of the lobby, the room decor has a calming vibe with dark wooden floors and vanilla and cocoa accents."

Super stay from arrival to departure. Amazing staff who just want yo make your stay great. Convenient and secure hotel garage parking - accessible from the hotel. Great apartment with a well equipped kitchen. Convenient location close to Robson Street and free bike hire (4 hours - which is plenty to explore town/Stanley Park. The restaurant was lovely - with no loud music - so you can relax over a drink/good food. All in all - a great stay. THANK YOU.

We recently stayed 2 nights at L'Hermitage while visiting Vancouver with our 4 children and 2 older parents after a cruise to Alaska. We absolutely LOVED our experience there! From the moment we stepped inside the lobby, we felt welcomed and accommodated. Our rooms were ready early and they upgraded one of our rooms and placed us beside each other. The rooms were spacious, clean, well appointed, sunny and bright. Beth at the front desk was incredibly friendly, giving us a map and suggesting places we could go as a family. She greeted us with a smile each day. When we checked out, they allowed us to store our luggage and hang out by the pool, and aided us with a cab to the airport. The location was fantastic - walkable to many restaurants, a grocery store, playgrounds and other attractions. When traveling with 4 children, it is often challenging to find arrangements that accommodate a large family, and even so, it is not always met with a smile and such a welcoming demeanor. I cannot say enough about the WHOLE TEAM at L'Hermitage who made our last few days in Vancouver the perfect cherry on top of a wonderful vacation. We cannot recommend this hotel enough and hope to return!

An Unforgettable Start to Our Journey – Pure Luxury After a ten-hour flight, arriving at L’Hermitage Hotel felt like stepping into a dream. This is the first stop on our three-week trip, and we couldn’t have imagined a more perfect welcome. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Natalie at the front desk, who was beyond informative, kind, and professional. She truly went above and beyond to make us feel at home, taking the time to walk us through every detail with warmth and care. Her customer service was exceptional, offering thoughtful local recommendations and making us feel genuinely valued as guests. It’s rare to meet someone who makes such a positive and lasting impression so quickly, and Natalie absolutely did that. We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Indra and Shivang, who were equally wonderful. Every interaction we’ve had with the team has been warm, thoughtful, and of the highest standard. The hotel itself is pure luxury. Our suite is absolutely stunning – beautifully designed, spacious, and immaculately clean. We’re here celebrating our six-year anniversary, and the team made it feel so special. Every detail has been perfect. Thank you, L’Hermitage, for making the beginning of our trip feel so magical. You’ve set the bar incredibly high and we are so grateful for such a dream start to our travels.

100pct amazing! We had the 2BR suite with a giant balcony overlooking the pool and restaurant below us. Kids had a blast, half block to Starbucks and a local grocer to cook food from our suites kitchen. Fantastic location easy walk to everything. Special thanks to Natalia at the front desk who went above and beyond to make our stay more comfortable. Bathrooms were wonderful, soap and shampoo provided was divine. Highly recommend staying here and we will be back soon!

Google
We enjoyed our stay here. Very convenient to the Canada line. Staff were very friendly. Our room was clean, bed, comfortable. Generous in size. The hotel restaurant provided good dinner and breakfast options, although the latter was a la carte; not the usual buffet. We think the patronage should have been higher, given the quality of food. On a rainy night, the reception staff lent us umbrellas. It is also close to other amenities, like a supermarket (IGA) and lots of dining options.

Google
The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are large and the hotel for convenience is perfect for a downtown location; fairly easy walking to the arena and BC Place as well as Canada Place. Nice area with different eateries as well as the hotel restaurant which is perfect for a quick breakfast for your busy day. We very much liked the fresh flavoured water daily and that the hotel itself is only 3 floors with the rest of the high rise tower private condominiums which gives you a quieter and homey feel. We loved our experience and will be back one day. :)

Lovely first night in Vancouver at L’Hermitage Hotel. A little bit further out from the sites but all walkable. Attentive staff and very comfortable room. The outdoor pool and jacuzzi was lovely to have after a busy day sightseeing. A cocktail by the pool would have topped it off but we couldn’t find any staff.

Yelp
L'Hermitage was wonderful; this hotel's old school charm won me over immediately and kept on delivering throughout my stay. My favorite amenities--clothing steamer and hot water kettle--were promptly delivered. What's better than tea and wrinkle-free clothes? The room was quiet and afforded me uninterrupted sleep. The lighting at the desk caused my colleagues to compliment my visage on video conference calls. The location was an easy walk to everywhere I needed to go in Vancouver. L'Orangerie, the dining room and lounge on the fifth floor, was a lovely place to take tea and lunch. My dining companion and I had the place nearly to ourselves. On my next visit to Vancouver, I hope I'll be lucky enough to stay at L'Hermitage again.

Yelp
Staff is super kind and very formal :) A few notable highlights: Fob for their indoor parking garage ($25 a day) makes it super easy. Clean rooms. We were lucky and got upgraded to a suite :) Basically a full one bedroom apartment. The outdoor lap pool and hot tub are heavenly. The hot tub is heated to 106 degrees (yes we measured) which is perfect in the freezing cold. Nespresso machines and pods inside the rooms. Great location, walking distance to Yaletown and a bunch of restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. About $257 for one night including the parking.

Yelp
I loved the email communications prior to arrival! They were able to accommodate an early check-in for us, which we really appreciated after an early morning departure from our cruise ship. The staff are super nice, and helped us with directions and recommendations. The hotel has a restaurant, pool, spa and business center and is very clean and attractive. The room is delightful. We are glad we decided to stay here.

Yelp
Staff: The staff here is truly the epitome of customer service at the highest level. I have been fortunate to stay in what I consider to be pretty nice hotels, but this place beat them all. Last year we stayed in two Disney resorts and Disney is well known for customer service, and yet this hotel exceeded them. Trust me you are treated like royalty. Quality: The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the room was perfect in all ways. Very nice hotel, flavored water in the lobby, amazing service, and the ultimate parking perks for your car. Value: I was surprised at the pricing as this place is amazing. Cost of the hotel was roughly $500 (US) + $30 (US) for parking. The hotel is partly used for residents and part for hotel guests. Overall: This hotel is Diamond level with the overall cleanliness, beautiful hotel and room, amazing food from room service, to amazing parking. They give you a key fob to enter the gated parking lot below the hotel where you have an assigned parking spot. When you check out they follow you down to let you out so you don't have to go back to the hotel to return it. On the key fob there is a little map so you know how to get from the hotel to the entrance to the parking lot. Lastly, the dimmer at the restaurant was really good (see other review). Pro Tip: Get the room service for breakfast as it is affordable and they even make the hotel logo out of cinnamon which was so cool. Also, there are a ton of great food options within walking distance, including a restaurant literally right across from the hotel. The area felt safe and comfortable. ***HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel***

Yelp
Absolutely no complaints. We arrived on a Saturday night and they started off by telling us that we had been upgraded for free. Our room was meticulously put together, and staff are constantly roaming the halls to make sure everything is perfect. Towels are plentiful, and sheets are really clean. When you call down for items, they arrive in about a minute. This place has its stuff together. The views from our clean and beautiful balcony were also stunning.

Yelp
This boutique hotel is classy and has a relaxing environment. We can here for a short getaway and it did not disappoint. The staff is wonderful and professional. The amenities were perfect and the restaurant feels like a living room mixed with a dining experience. Great food!!

Yelp
My husband and I had an AWESOME stay in Vancouver at L'Hermitage. We booked a regular room with points and on check in we were informed that our room was upgraded to a suite, which was great because this was our honeymoon trip :) We loved our room so much, and we experienced incredible service from everyone we encountered in the hotel. Front desk folks were lovely, when we went swimming someone came and brought bottled water, the restaurant staff was great (and the breakfast was great too!), just all around an amazing experience. Amazing location as well! So much within easy walking distance from the hotel. We cannot say enough nice things about L'Hermitage. We will absolutely be staying here anytime we come back to Vancouver and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone.

Yelp
One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. We held bags at the desk since they we got there early. Without us even asking, they had our bags waiting for us in the room. The front desk even called us to see how our stay was going. In addition, they had an extra phone charge available for us to borrow. Suites are huge, beautiful and very clean. Great location central to many shops and restaurants.

Yelp
It is all in the details and this hotel handles all those little details just perfectly. First COVID. This is the second hotel we have stayed in since COVID began. The last one we felt comfortable but L'Hermitage addresses any concern big time. Everything is sanitized and there is a sticker over the door so you know that no one has entered after it has been clean. Everything was wrapped in plastic including the remote, toiletries and even the toilet paper (photos below). They are handling in really well. Now on to the hotel. The staff are amazing. They go the extra step. They are so professional and wonderful to deal with. The rooms are amazing. They upgraded us to a bigger room with a fire place which was lovely. There is a lounge with games set up, fire place....... There are just not enough words to describe how perfect this place is. Absolutely ove it and can't wait to go back. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Yelp
Yes, I enjoy boutique hotels. Recently stayed here over a long weekend, probably one of the best decisions I've made in a while, what a great stay here! Glad we chose this place to stay while in town. It's located pretty central, near the library right on Richards between Robson and Georgia, next to Cafe Medina. If you want to valet your car, just pull up to the front and the staff will kindly help you. We pulled up and friendly greetings as we opened our door. They will assist with your luggage if needed, they will probably help whether you want it or not and get your luggage on a cart for you, off the sidewalk etc. The current rate is $35/night to park in their garage, the garage is under the hotel, not across the street or a block away. No extra charges for In & Out access if you need your car throughout the day/night. Check-in process was easy breezy, show them your particulars and they will get you all set up. I knew we were early so I knew we may not be able to get into our rooms yet, but mainly I arrived early as I wanted to drop off the car and my luggage because I hate thinking about that stuff. We went about our day and did our thing and came back in the evening after dinner to officially check-in. They will give you a call when your room is ready, but I ain't trying to pick up a phone call and get them international charges to my phone, you know what I'm talking about. They called me ahead of normal check-in time and delivered our luggage to our rooms for us. Since we checked in early, they did offer us complimentary lounge access to L'Orangerie to get a snack/coffee/tea to refresh ourselves. Thanks, that was nice of them. When we arrived to our room, the room was real nice, they kindly upgraded us to a nicer room than we originally booked for. Large King sized bed, nice fireplace, overall the bath and boudoir was all very nice. Complimentary WiFi, large flat screen TV, Nespresso machine in room, small little fridge with chilled wine glasses in it, they thought of everything. The shower was my fave, trust me...just go take a shower and you'll see. The staff is wonderful, very friendly, generally happy in demeanor and actually care about your stay, will say hi when they see you, very helpful if you need anything. Turn down service is nice and will leave some chocolate on your bed if you are away. Hotel is part residential too but they have their own set of elevators so they don't have to deal with us tourists. Great place to stay, Ill be back in town again for a short visit during the summer and I have already booked my stay here again and I usually never do that since there are so many other options in downtown. I recommend staying here.

Yelp
Comfortable stay for one night. Arrived a bit early, but we were able to check into our room. Had planned to head to a pub to watch the super bowl, but the room was so comfortable that we didn't feel the need: 2 armchairs, fireplace and tv and we were good. At dinner time, we were able to stroll to dinner with lots of options in the area. Breakfast in the L'Orangerie felt private (we were the only one's there for breakfast) with an elegant decor. They had black & white movie classics playing and the fireplace blazing, while we dined on the basic buffet breakfast. Front desk staff were friendly upon check-in and check-out. I would stay again.

Yelp
Delightful hotel in the heart of Vancouver. The L'HERMITAGE is a luxurious boutique hotel with an impeccable and friendly staff ready and willing to help with everything from room issues to arranging your stay in Vancouver. They were a big part of what made our stay at the L'HERMITAGE so so enjoyable! The L'HERMITAGE is beautifully appointed with up to date rooms and facilities. The elegant lobby has that intimate feel of a boutique hotel and not like the train station feel of the big franchise hotels. Our room had everything needed for a pleasant and comfortable stay. The king size bed was super comfortable with plenty of pillows. Our bathroom had a king sized tub and came with a whole list of free amenities available for the asking. The shower was a bit on the small side but overall the bathroom was very nice. The free WiFi had plenty of speed and I was able to log on easily. Every night the staff delivered water, chocolate and coffee pods to ensure you have an enjoyable evening and morning. Next time? No doubt it will be the L'HERMITAGE!!

Yelp
The longest continually Forbes 5-star rated hotel in the world does not disappoint. The heated rooftop pool and bar is really nice, I worked up there every day of my visit. We stayed here when the Four Seasons was full, and it was honestly a superior experience. The rooms are really sizable and well-renovated.

Yelp
L'Hermitage is my favorite hotel in Vancouver. It is elegant, conveniently located, and the staff is top notch. The service here is excellent, and they have great attention to detail. My husband and I recently stayed here for a few days to celebrate my birthday. The manager left a nice card and a box of chocolates for me in our room, which I really appreciated! We usually book the Classique Boutique Room, which is their smallest option, but still luxurious. Our room had a soft and comfortable king sized bed and a 40 inch flatscreen TV with premium channels. The marble bathroom was beautiful and it was stocked with L'Occitane products. Our room also had a Nespresso coffee machine with two coffee pods. We are from Seattle, so we love drinking coffee really early in the morning. One day we asked the front desk for two more pods and they were happy to help. The next day, there were four pods in our room! I think the maid noticed how many we used and they just hooked us up in advance. :-) We brought a car with us, but we just left it with the valet the entire time. You get free in/out privileges, but the hotel was really close to everything we wanted to do! The furthest thing was only a 15 minute walk. L'Hermitage also has some great dining options. Their in-house lounge, L'Orangerie, is located on the fifth floor. They have a nice European breakfast buffet every day between 6:30 AM and 11:30 AM. They also have a lovely British afternoon tea service between 1 PM and 5 PM. Cafe Medina, one of Vancouver's most popular breakfast places is located on the ground floor, next to the hotel's main entrance. That restaurant doesn't take reservations, but the L'Hermitage concierge helped us get a table there, which was pretty cool. The entire staff is great. We ended up arriving up a few hours before check in, but they made us feel comfortable while our room was being prepared. They also greeted us every time we arrived or left the hotel. We really enjoyed our time at L'Hermitage and look forward to our next stay there.

Laura H.

Yelp
Wow what an amazing experience at this hotel! Great service since the moment we booked. They have promptly answered all our questions we emailed prior to getting here. They provided us with information on best way to get here from airport and what to expect to make our anniversary get away from Texas to Canada amazing memories what to site see and what areas to stay away from at night! When we checked in two amazing ladies were at the front desk and they made us feel so welcome and got us checked in and given maps of the area. They did a lovely job representing what to expect for service at this hotel! I wish I remembered their names however they were amazing when we checked in 4/5/2023 and so were the cleaning staff what great team!!!!! They were amazing thanks to everyone for making our stay amazing! Definitely will be back and recommend this hotel! 5 stars Mr. & Mrs. Hatten

Yelp
What can I say that hasn't been said before? The sense of care and luxury will ruin me for all future hotel stays. 3 nights wasn't enough for us. I wasn't even excited going back home home to my non marbled bathroom, my non high end kitchen appliances, my non luxurious bed and my non existent robe and private office. I wish they never upgraded me because now I got the taste of high living and I want to get another fix, quick. They have an outdoor heated lap pool and a jacuzzi that looks toward the cool architecture of the Vancouver Public Library. They have a fancy lounge that makes you feel transported to Europe or to the scene in Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts wore that amazing red dress having escargot. They take hospitality seriously and even when you walk in with sweats and your snow gear that you've been living in for a week, they still treat you like you're special and seen. I couldn't have asked for a better stay for the last leg of our bday trip. We definitely ended on the highest note booking at L'Hermitage. You get what you pay for and it's worth every nickel (because canadians got rid of the penny, it's fantastic).

Yelp
I so loved our one night stay here at the L'Hermitage hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff was extremely attentive and kind. Our room was beautiful and the patio was a nice touch that we were not expecting. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom nice and large with separate toilet area. I bought the package directly from the hotel on their website and it included parking and wonderful breakfast. The valet guy was great and so nice to not hassle with finding a spot and lugging of stuff. The evening we arrived we stopped by the lounge and had some wonderful Hendrick's gin and tonics. They served some chips/snacks complementary with our drinks. Although it was pouring down rain (they did have umbrellas to loan their guests) we found it to be a great location for walking to all the shops and restaurants nearby. The breakfast was outstanding. Wonderful buffet of great tasting food. Fresh berries, pastries, oatmeal, eggs, salmon, cold cuts, potatoes, sausage, cappuccinos. The defiantly had something for everyone. Can't wait to return and stay longer!

Yelp
For us, this was a near perfect hotel. My wife and I were visiting for vacation in October 2019. Location: Our first visit to VC and downtown in the middle of everything was perfect. Walkable distance to Gas Town, little bit of a trek for Granville and Stanley Park. Quick train ride to Mt Pleasant. Room itself: I loved the large, luxurious bathroom and the normal sized room. Great set up and I enjoyed the bathtub and the separate shower with waterfall shower head. Staff: Very nice, very courteous. No issues. I felt they aimed to please and would be near the top of what I have come across in my travels. Gym: I liked their choice of machines. I got a good pump workout in! Price: We booked via Expedia and it was priced well. The room we got was what I would call boutique and worth it's value. Restaurant: They partner with Cafe Medina and they put us on a priority reservation to get in. It was on a Tuesday so it was not that hard to get in but I figure others would appreciate it.

Yelp
Absolutely one of our best coffee experiences ever. The staff is genuinely grateful for the customers by the way they are very service oriented. The place is impeccable clean and the beds and pillows are unbelievably comfortable. The cafe is top notch.

Yelp
4.5 Stars Looking outside at the lovely city views in my spacious 810 sf One bedroom signature den suite with a full kitchen, I'm quite content and pleased. The den has a desk and a comfy twin bed. It's also got a fabulous view of the city. My son is very happy with his "second bedroom". It's private and off of the living room. The living room has a full dining table with comfy chairs and a couch. There is a balcony overlooking the pool and a garden courtyard. There is also a fireplace and a standard flat screen. The amount of light flooding the room is immense. There is a full kitchen. I haven't cooked once since we have been here, but we have eaten in 3 times. The plates, tables, and dishwasher has been very convenient. If we were staying longer I would cook all our breakfasts here. There is also conveniently a washer and dryer in the suite. This is a huge plus having just gotten off of a one week cruise and wanting clean clothes. The bedroom is cozy with it's own tv and view from the balcony. The bathroom is nice and stocked with L'Occitan products and a list of items you can request. The staff have all been amazing, elegant, and pleasant. I love the "good evening madame" greetings. The gym is a standard nice hotel gym. The pool is a small lap pool that I have enjoyed swimming in. The location in the city is excellent. Everything is walkable from this central downtown hotel. We will definitely be staying here on our trips to Vancouver. This is our second return. PS- Ask for room 707. It is excellent :) Note: This is almost a 5 star hotel in my eyes, but they have a few small details missed that true 5 star hotels (like Del Mar and Aulani) nail. For instance, I had to ask for slippers 3 times. Another example is my husband asked them to preorder a cab. The person confirmed the time, but then proceeded to order it improperly. Not so little thing: There was also an issue with our door not locking properly. I found this out when my 6 year old sprinted down the hall ahead of us and like a child tried the door. We were all shocked when it just opened. This took 2 calls, and annoyance on my part, to fix. Our suite was unsecured for who know how long until my son discovered the problem. However, I would stay here again. I would immediately ask for slippers upon arrival and ALWAYS double check that the doors are locked properly.

Yelp
The L'Hermitage hotel is a beautiful little luxury hotel located in downtown Vancouver. My wife and I chose this hotel for our overnight stay before embarking on our Alaskan cruise. We based our decision on the ratings/reviews as well as the hotel's close location to the shopping district and the popular Gastown. This hotel did not disappoint. Once entering the lobby, the staff and concierge greeted us and checked us right into our room. It was our 30th anniversary, and they informed us we were given an upgrade. The concierge was very friendly and helpful, pointing out all of the sites and landmarks in the vicinity. The room was modern, clean, spacious and beautifully decorated . To our surprise, the staff left a nice treat for our anniversary. Looking out the window, we had a nice view of the street below and restaurant across from our hotel. We enjoyed our stay and the friendly professional staff. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
My go to place when I come to Vancouver to work and play! From the moment you enter the hotel you are greeted by the wonderful staff. It's my home away from home. It's central enough but away from the craziness of downtown, conveniently placed near transit, shopping and the downtown core. They leave chocolates after cleaning your room and toiletries are luxe! If you want luxury without the fuss, stay at the L'Hermitage!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. They were so helpful before my stay, easy to get a hold of and all so very nice. Our room was facing the pool, and was super quiet. The bathroom was awesome, I love when the toilet has its own room so one person can shower and get ready even if the other person is using the toilet. I found the bed very comfortable but it is the type of bed that moves every time your partner moves, so sensitive sleepers look out! Pool is heated but it was covered in leaves and just overall dirty. Fresh fruit water was actually delicious! Amazing location. They left us a box of Lindt chocolates in the room to celebrate our pregnancy. So cute!

Yelp
Nothing but total class from the L'Hermitage... When we checked in, I commented that we were there for my wife's birthday and while we were getting ready to go out that afternoon, we were surprised by a knock at the door and they brought us the chocolate s in the photo with a card wishing my wife a happy birthday. Definitely a great place to stay

Yelp
My husband and I just spent three months at this wonderful hotel (due to a flood in our home that took a long time to repair). I can say unequivocally that the staff there are the most professional and considerate in the business. L'Hermitage is beautiful, centrally located, with spotless, elegant rooms; the heated outdoor saltwater pool is lovely and easy to swim, with a hot tub next to it to warm up in if the weather makes the run from poolside back to the gym a little chilly; the restaurant/lounge is only available to hotel guests and condo residents so a perfect refuge from the usual cacophony in the middle of a city. Even on top of all this loveliness, what makes this place so special is the multi-lingual staff who seem to genuinely love their workplace and go out of their way to be respectful and kind in all their interactions. We will be sure to return on our next staycation and recommend it highly.

Yelp
This hotel is part of residential and part of hotel. Cute little lobby, there is always staffs at the front desk and concierge. There is a restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast buffet $20. Very simple buffet but definitely more than continental style. FREE WiFi~ FREE bike rental (but remember to reserve the bike first at the front desk) The Service: EXCELLENT!! Everytime when walked in & out the hotel, the staffs would always greeted us with our names. They gave us great recommendation how to plan our itinerary. The Room: It is spacious. The bathroom is huge with bathtub and shower. Love the coffee machine in the room. The housekeeping also gave us turn down service in the evening. The Location: In downtown Vancouver, walking distance to many restaurants & shops.

Yelp
It does not get better than this. And certainly not for the price. I was recently asked by a coworker "what's the nicest hotel room you've stayed in?". Im a very frequent traveler and thought about the suite at London's Paddinton Hilton overlooking the park or a bathroom to throw a party in from Caesar's Palace tower. There was even the remarkable and personal service from the Heathman in Portland but nothing to date compares to the all around experience at L'Hermitage. It' may not be the biggest or the best worldwide as I'm sure many would prefer a hut, just off the water on an exotic island but this is a close second. At a nightly rate less than the Westin around the corner and a promotional upgrade, for $188/night I enjoined a corner suite with separate bedroom, den, kitchen, bath and sitting room. Oh, throw in a balcony overlooking the pool and a washer/dryer. Throw in the personal concierge attention, you really get a bang for your buck. I toured 2 other rooms on my floor and all were well done. Some with 2 baths and more closet space but all with the same amenities. The corner suite is the biggest. I've stayed in 2 hotels and 1 private condo rented on Aitbnb but this is by far the best in Vancouver. I will be back and hopefully sooner than later. Check out my pictures of #707 and you'll be sold.

Yelp
Just coming back from a 2 night stay and I gotta say: I haven't been treated so well in such a long time, and I just stayed at the Ritz in Seattle. They truly take care of you here, and for that reason alone, I'd return. The hotel is half residential, half hotel. They have a lovely and very large business center, a small gym, a small steam room in both the men and women locker rooms and a nice dining lounge. This place is definitely a class act. My first room was solid. A Comfy bed, spacious bathroom, the tv remote wasn't the most updated, but it was fine enough. However, noise in the early AM from work being done outside the hotel caused me to be moved. I was upgraded to a suite and boy, what a difference. A full kitchen, washer/dryer unit and a little office made this pretty much bigger and nicer than a lot of apartments of my youth. Long term stays is a no brainer. Overall, where this place really shines is the service. From the front desk to the valet and everyone in between, it was made sure that everything was perfect. Without a complaint from me, they offered to remove the valet charges for my room inconvenience, in the AM when the lobby espresso machine wasn't working, they delivered me fresh espresso from their breakfast free of charge, valet was prompt, professional and oh so kind. 100% L'hermitage takes it up a notch with a professional service I don't think I've had anywhere else. Want to feel important (I mean we all are, but sometimes it's nice to be shown it)? L'Hermitage will do it. A few other notes: The breakfast buffet is $20-$25 but looked delicious and fresh. Free use of umbrellas. Free wifi I believe HBO. In room N'Esppreso machine.

Yelp
Yes, L'Hermitage is worth all the fuss. 5-stars all the way. Rarely do I want to stay an extra day or two when traveling for work, either. But L'Hermitage had me wishing I was in town for more than 24 hours. Most work overnight stays are all about what's available on relatively short term notice, within a fairly strict budget. There was a really amazing weeknight deal available through Hotels.com/Expedia and I couldn't resist. As I arrived, I was greeted by a concierge and front desk team who informed me that my regular room was upgraded to a suite. Frankly, all I was going to do was plug in my laptop/phone and change clothes before going out, so I wasn't expecting much. However, the room was glorious! Living room, wet bar, separate bedroom and bathroom. Definitely better than most big city apartments, I can totally understand why there's a side of L'Hermitage reserved for long-term stays. For the short time I was in the room, I enjoyed the spacious living area as well as the bedroom. The shower and toiletries were premium and I definitely took the lotion home. Calling a taxi early the next day was NBD and the staff was amazingly pleasant at 5 am. If I have the opportunity to revisit L'Hermitage, you betcha I'll book again. I felt like a little princess for a night and that feels extra nice when you're traveling internationally over a short period of time.

Yelp
We had quite an unpleasant stay here. First, we had a suite room facing the street and it was very noisy. All night long and throughout the early morning loud traffic drove by--with garbage trucks, motorcycles, sirens etc. making consistent noise. There seems to be a truck loading area right across the street from our room so there is ongoing truck loading sounds (think beeping and engine noises). If you stay here and get stuck with a street facing room you'll definitely want ear plugs. Second, one night we were woken up by a hotel-wide smoke alarm at 1:15 am. My family and I were all deep asleep and completely woken up with the pending threat of having to evacuate our room (which of course turned out out to be a false alarm). It took me hours to get back to sleep after the alarm went off because it was such a jarring and shocking experience. Third, the pillows are not very comfortable (they're very puffy but not firm) and the doors in the room are creaky. It is hard to move around without waking up the family. Fourth, the amenities were not as nice as made out to be on the website. The pool was old looking, the Jacuzzi didn't always have water in it, and the restaurant was always empty (which says something). In general the place felt old with some remodeling to make it look nice on the exterior. Finally, the guy who came to our room to help us with a clogged toilet drain spilled toilet water all over our floor and didn't even clean it all up after. I do agree the staff are very friendly and accommodating and appreciate that. But for the price tag, which was close to $400 per night I expect a lot more. Would not stay here again.

Yelp
The L'Hermitage is a luxury boutique hotel that considers all the details to make each guest feel like they are truly special. We arrived quite late and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They were also very helpful with directions, sight seeing recommendations, etc. Our room was lovely and conveniently located close to the gym and restaurant. The hotel was extremely clean and great care was evident in taking Covid precautions. Every person we met on the staff were courteous and professional. The location is also a big plus if you enjoying walking around the city. A big thumbs up for the L'Hermitage!

Yelp
I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. After a completely disastrous night at the Metropolitan, my wife and I went over to the Hermitage. The two hotels could not have been more night and day. This hotel was absolutely gorgeous, everything worked flawlessly, their location was amazing, the staff were incredibly helpful, and the internet was fast. We even had a cat with us, and the room was perfect for her. I haven't been back to Vancouver since then, but I will always, always stay at this hotel if possible. They made our stay incredibly comfortable, and they were easily worth every penny.

Yelp
Stayed here for a business trip, it ended up being cheaper than most other hotels in the area because of a Hotwire deal. This hotel was so accommodating to me every step of the way. I arrived at 8am the day I was supposed to check in because I was at an awful Airbnb the night before. They let me rent a bike for free which was great because much of the city is bikeable. They even called me once my room was ready and upgraded my room for free. 100% recommend staying here. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at.

Yelp
I stayed here last weekend and it was so nice! Every single person was so friendly and helpful! I wish we had more time to just sit in that room - it was so perfect with the kitchen and fireplace and all of the amenities. We ordered room service breakfast, and everything was great....except for the scrambled eggs! They smelled and tasted like gasoline, and we couldn't eat them. I do not recommend ordering them. The croissants and the coffee were good tho!

Yelp
We came for a little long weekend getaway and booked the Petite Boutique Room. It is a lovely hotel, so we figured even the most basic of rooms would be a total indulgence. When we arrived, we were greeted by Neba who graciously upgraded us to the One-Bedroom Boutique Suite upon learning it was our anniversary weekend. The hotel is exceptionally clean, safe (room key needed to access elevators), luxurious, and classic while still feeling updated and modern. We were utterly spoiled by the kindness of Neba, Elena (who made anniversary dinner reservations for us at nearby Joe Fortes AND researched a bunch of hikes that fit our 'criteria'), and Brian (after just one time giving him our names and room numbers, he remembered it... always greeted with a smile, etc. We learned Brian has been on staff since the hotel was newly opened and has even helped train other staff). We also had lovely encounters with the other staff, but those were the 3 people who we had the most interactions with. The hotel is very centrally located to Skytrain, bus stops, walking distance to many of the major sights, districts, etc. I'd highly recommend staying at L'Hermitage and can't wait to stay there again! ( My pictures were taken with my cell phone and most certainly do NOT do it justice!)

Yelp
Really liked this boutique hotel in the heart of Vancouver, 4.5 stars Highlights: - Location: right off Robson just a few blocks away from the nice dining area in Yaletown - Staff: polite and helpful - Rooms: really nice. Got a one bedroom suite and it was very spacious with a large living room, an electric fireplace, and sliding door access to the patio - Modern: decor was elegant and had nice touches like spa water in the lobby Lowlights: - Couldn't check into room til the official time: often times in low seasons places will let you check in earlier Enjoyed this spot and would consider returning.

Yelp
Staying here was such a treat! My husband, 5-month-old baby, and I stayed here for 2 nights in May 2019. I had originally reserved a 1-bedroom/1 bathroom suite but was upgraded to a 1-bedroom + den + 2 bathrooms upon arrival. We had asked for a crib for the baby, which was set up and ready before we even checked in. The kitchen is fully stocked - pots, pans, plates, wine glasses, utensils. Appliances include: dishwasher and in-unit laundry, with dishwasher pods and washing machine detergent thoughtfully provided. It pretty much felt like our own spacious condo in the heart of Vancouver. It was nice to watch people and traffic from the comfort of the balcony, high above the street. Even though the hotel is located on a noisy block, you won't hear a thing if you have the windows and balcony door closed. Proof: our baby napped wonderfully despite sirens, honking, and shouting going on outside. Since our baby was at the not-interested-in-sitting-quietly-at-restaurants phase, we mostly did takeout for meals, which we then brought back to the suite. There are quite a few nearby casual restaurants perfect for either dining in or takeout. Try Japadog for some interesting hot dog + ingredient combos or Beard Papas for the best cream puffs! There's also an IGA a few steps away in case you need to grab any groceries and a London Drugs around the corner for toiletries. I loved having a comfortable, well appointed "home" to come back to after we walked around the city, instead of a small, cramped hotel room. Maybe it would've been too much space for just me and my husband, but with a baby, it was helpful to be able to wash bottles and do cloth diaper laundry. If we come back to Vancouver, I'd love to stay here again.

Yelp
This is a true boutique hotel. The staff is beyond helpful! This boutique hotel was all that I could want. It is located about a couple blocks from the downtown library and lots of great restaurants. Not only the great location, the staff is super friendly and helpful. What I liked was that the hotel was centrally located so you could basically walk to many popular downtown spots which we did. But when we needed a cab and stood at a corner for at least 15 mins to flag one down, we just went to the front desk and they got us a cab in 5 minutes. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom was so nice as well, almost as large as our room! There was a good coffee machine int he room. I would stay here again in the future. Wonderful restaurants nearby but they also have breakfast available at the restaurant. If you want to stay at a sophisticated but young feeling hotel, this place is for you.

Yelp
This might be the best hotel I've ever stayed in, and the price is RIGHT. The location was perfect, situated right off of Robson Street, walkable to almost everything downtown Vancouver has to offer and a quick cab ride anywhere else (less than $10). The service is exceptional and our room was perfect. Quite large for a hotel room, with a girl's dream of a bathroom! I loved the modern but cozy feel to the rooms and the gas fireplace really ups the ante. I also loved the turn down service in which the staff would leave a breakfast menu to mark and hang on your door for next morning delivery. That said, even if you call your breakfast in the morning of, it is very prompt delivery. I think that I've found my Canadian home away from home and am happy to say that after this experience, I will only stay at L'Hermitage when I visit Vancouver.

Yelp
Hip Hip Hooray For Hippo..... It's true. The great reviews of the L'Hermitage Hotel in downtown Vancouver are justified. It's a luxurious place with unvarnished superior service at a reasonable price. What more could you ask? Even the hotel mascot, Hippo, a French Bulldog, felt so comfortable he didn't budge an inch from wherever he planted himself in the first floor lobby. My wife and I...plus her son, his wife and their 6 year old daughter...stayed at L'Hermitage for several days before the 2 of us left Vancouver for a cruise to Alaska. We examined tons of online hotel reviews to make our choice and can honestly say it was one of our better vacation decisions. The hotel, on a side street near the intersection of Richards and Robson, has an unassuming entrance. Since Richards is one way, it's best to approach from the north on West Georgia Street . Valet parking is offered at $25 per day which sounds steep, but unlimited in-and-out privileges and good humor of the attendants made that cost a reasonable value. Self parking in a nearby lot may save a few bucks, but probably wouldn't be worth the hassle...especially when lugging the luggage. For the most part, L'Hermitage has a good location. It's within walking distance of several neighborhoods, including the Financial District ( expensive stores ), Gastown to the north ( boutique shops and sketchy characters ) and Yaletown to the south ( converted warehouses with restaurants and residences ). By the way, we went to the Blue Water Cafe in Yaletown and it was worth 5 stars. However, 1 or 2 blocks west of the hotel lands you in a rundown area with panhandlers and people sitting on the sidewalk. That's just life. Checking in ( and out ) at the reception area was simple. We always saw 2 people manning the desk which seemed sufficient for the flow of guests at most times. The employees were cordial, efficient and helpful...even when we asked a silly tourist-type question. The hotel part of L'Hermitage is actually on the 5th, 6th and 7th floors of the building. Floors 2, 3 and 4 belong to an upscale housewares store with an entrance on Robson. Floors 8 through 15 are for permanent residents. Sort of like a condominium on top of a hotel. Most of the rooms on the 5th floor where we stayed are the smallest of the hotel...either "junior suites" or "boutique suites". However, size is a relative term. Our boutique room was spacious, tastefully decorated with contemporary tones and very clean. We had a king bed, sitting area and large bathroom containing a separate room for the toilet. Don't underestimate the value of that last item. Privacy for your privates is nice, particularly when you don't wish to share your...or your partner's...indigestion. A few other observations about our room. Service by the staff of maids was efficient, thorough and responsive to our requests. Soundproofing was excellent since we didn't hear any neighbors, people in the hallway or traffic on Richards Street ( unless we opened the sliding glass door to the patio ). Wi-Fi is free. Water pressure in the shower was among the best I've seen and provided some much appreciated moments of invigoration. We didn't take advantage of the full service breakfast buffet on the 5th floor until the 4th and final morning. Cost of $18 per person might seem a tad high, but L'Hermitage offered a nice variety of well prepared, tasty food in a very comfortable ...almost plush...environment. Service was top notch with both a server and manager at our beck and call. Too bad we ran out of time to take advantage of the Italian restaurant next to the hotel ( and I believe associated with L'Hermitage ). Another side note about the service. Our extended family of 3 in the adjacent room had a few minor quibbles with their room and jotted them down on the typical note card provided by most hotels. However, L'Hermitage is a bit different. The manager contacted them and offered a suite with separate kitchen and bedroom on the 7th floor. Not to mention a nice view of the pool and some architecturally interesting buildings. As soon as we heard that, my wife and I began to look for things to complain about, but we came up empty. Next time we visit Vancouver, at least we won't need to do hours of research on where to stay. Pros: Luxurious environment. Great service. Good location. Reasonable. Nice dog. Cons: Can't think of any Ratings: Overall: 5 Room Furnishings: 4 Maid Service: 5 Front Desk: 5 Location: 4 Management: 5 Breakfast: 5 Pool: 5 Gym: 4 ( would be 5, but at 8 PM they had no towels remaining ) Attentiveness: 5 Hippo: 10

Yelp
L'Hermitage is a small boutique hotel in great location. The service is fantastic. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly, helpful and professional. The 5th floor has a great little lounge and restaurant. The Lounge has French music and movies that reinforce the French service. The suite was great. The kitchen was fully stocked and had a great set of appliances. It would be perfect for a longer stay! The living room and bedroom were small but nicely furnished. The balcony was very nice.

Yelp
I would love to live here if I could! The service here is remarkable and the staff are just amazingly friendly. The first few days our AC unit wasn't working properly and at the third day we got moved to another room. Management and the staff was so apologetic about it. We got the one bedroom suite and it was pretty spacious and having a kitchen equipped with EVERYTHING possible was great! Having a washer and dryer in the room was an added bonus! Free wifi in the room is a huge plus! There is a construction going on right by the hotel, so you'll hear a lot of construction noises but if you keep your windows closed the noise isn't that bad. Overall, the hotel was a very pleasant experience! I would definitely return and stay at this hotel again (and recommend others too)!

Yelp
In terms of hotels, normally I do not need high class (just safe and without rats/roaches). However, my husband considers a luxurious hotel important to a good vacation. If I ever am in Vancouver again, I would definitely be a repeat customer to L'Hermitage hotel because their staff made you feel like a welcome celebrity. The Yelp reviewers are definitely correct, this is the hotel to choose if you want a wonderful vacation in Vancouver!!!! Definitely, the best hotel experience that I have ever had in my life. This 2 yr new hotel is in a fabulous location in downtown Vancouver within walking distance of everything! There is a full Market just next door if you have any grocery needs along with tons of shopping and restaurants/cafes/parks/museums all within 2 miles. The 90 degree outdoor salt pool was wonderfully warm along with the beautiful jacuzzi. A well equipped gym and sauna is also available for those that want to work out. WiFi was easily accessible for my mother-in-law's IPAD. Their All-You-Can-Eat breakfast was expensive but had the sweetest, freshest berries along with a wonderful expresso machine, lox, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, waffles and, of course, excellent service. My daughter totally misses Hippo, the canine concierge.

Yelp
Fantastic stay at the L'Hermitage. Instead of staying at a hotel, it really feels like a home away from home. Luckily we stayed on a Sunday night because there is construction going on across the street. We took advantage of all the hotel had to offer: great walking distance to Robsen, salt water pool and jacuzzi, bike rentals with helmets where we were able to ride to Stanley Park and through it and back, Nespresso Machine, plush robes, and of course l'occitane products. They even gave us a small box of chocolates to celebrate our 2nd year anniversary. Definitely a memorable stay in one of our favorite cities in the world.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS HOTEL SO MUCH. SO SO SO MUCH. Why I love it: -Amazing location, we were in Vancouver for the MUSE concert at Rogers Arena, and walked over there within 10 minutes from our hotel! -Super friendly staff. From the valet, to front desk, to the concierge, and then to the room service people. Everyone gave stellar customer service! -Upgraded our room! As soon as we checked in, the sweet front desk lady bumped us up to a room with a sofa, outdoor patio and a fireplace. -The decor is beautifully charming, not too over the top, it was just right. -Comfy beds, we slept like babies. -Free Wifi -Very affordable! We're always going to stay here whenever we make a trip up to Vancouver! Thanks awesome staff of L'Hermitage! :)

Yelp
This hotel is in a great location downtown, especially if you're getting around on foot or public transit. The staff are all exceptionally friendly and helpful. The front desk greets you every time you return and are ready to call cabs or answer any questions you may have. They only have valet parking and it was $35 for one night. I found this very pricey, considering the price of the hotel room. The parking should be included or at least cheaper. The rooms were pretty nice. The bathroom has a soaker tub which I gladly made use of, and a separate shower. The king size bed was really comfortable but I found it odd they only had small pillows, as opposed to king size pillows. I'm 8 months preg so I was looking forward to big pillows to help me sleep. Regardless, the bed was great. It was a very hot and sunny weekend for our stay so we were looking forward to hanging out by the salt water pool. We got to the pool and were super disappointed to find out that there was no seating. They have 3 lounge chairs ONLY, which were taken obviously. There were no other chairs around the pool. Literally no seating. They did have a love seat in the little restaurant area next to the pool, that we snagged. But we were looking to lounge in the sun, relax and read a book. This is not the environment for that. A quick dip in the narrow pool and back to our room we went. There is a decent gym attached if you're so inclined. Breakfast is not included with your room, they do have a pricey room service menu if interested. I don't think I would choose to stay here again in summer unless it was a super good deal on Hotwire or something. I'd be more interested in finding a hotel with a better pool set up and for cheaper.
