We have eaten in many places around the world, but we never felt as unwelcome as we did at this restaurant. Even though locals recommended this place, we were very disappointed.
When we arrived for dinner on our last night in Tivoli, we noticed that only the man in the blue suit could take our order. He came to our table just minutes after we sat down. We were not ready to order yet, and he showed his frustration by rolling his eyes and scoffing at us.
This man did not greet us, did not smile at us, and got visibly annoyed - slapping his notebook down loudly and flapping his arms - when we asked questions about the menu. His rude behavior spoiled our experience even before the food arrived. We ate and left as quickly as possible.
We also visited the Donkey Bar next to the restaurant and experienced the same unfriendly service. The waiters were rude to tourists but smiled at the locals.
In a town known for its charm and hospitality, this was a big (and our only) disappointment. We hope they will listen to this feedback and treat all guests with respect in the future. We will not be back and recommend that any tourists wanting to go here keep in mind their anti-tourist approach.
