My go-to place for asaian Chinese bbq Super nice lady behind the counter Duck pork belly Pork intestine Duck Beef tripe Beef tendon Cash only here 40-minute trip for this place. They are that good 👍 👏

Google
Authentic Chinese BBQ. Only 2 places sell Chinese BBQ in metro Detroit I think. Quality is mid at best. Crispy pork is not marinated long enough or thoroughly. Some area of the pork is very bland. Roast duck is more expensive than other cities. $35 for a whole duck. Duck is good, well seasoned inside and out. It is also lean which is opposite of what Chinese people usually prefer but I like it. Cash only

Google
This is a togo shop and you need to pay with cash they have the BEST Crispy pork— and roasted duck so good too!

Google
Authentic place. No menu, no sides, no cards, cash only. If you're looking to walk in and get some delicious no frills food this is your place. The duck was fantastic and comes with a nice sauce on the side. It was about $20 for half a duck. Looking forward to trying so more things they offer. No for the faint of heart, they pull the full duck down and chop it up right in front of you. Don't mind the complaining reviews, this place is definitely more old school but worth the stop

Google
It's a rare treat finding Chinese BBQ in SE Michigan. The roast duck is worth the return in my books. As others had mentioned, they are cash only.

Google
Landed. Got rental. Got Chinese bbq. This small pick-up stroke has to be one of the best roast pork and roast duck l've had in my life! The skin on that roast pork was devine! Sooo crispy and so satisfying. The duck was super well seasoned. The thing they are missing is a good ginger dipping sauce. They had a sauce but it's like the drippings from the duck which I didn't think really added too much to it. The ginger sauce would be better because it would've given the duck a brighter taste. Highly recommend this place. Duck was $18.49 for half and $35 for a whole which is a bargain. It's $55 for a whole duck in Nashville. Roast pork was about $15/Ib. The gentleman that cut our meats was very nice and polite.

Google
This place has one of the best roast pork in town. BUT...! They are a scam. There were multiple times where we came in to get only one pound of roasted pork but they gave us 2 lbs. I let it go a couple of times but kind of caught on to their scheme. I gave them the benefit of a doubt and called a week in advanced to place an order for a whole roasted pig. They explained that a small pig will range from 35-40 lbs and medium is 41 - 45 lbs. I requested for a small whole roasted pig but when I came to pick my order up, it came to a whopping 45 lbs ($500). A 10 lbs difference in what I was expecting and ordered!! Not honest people here.

Google
Great place to get the cuts of meat that we’re looking for us to take home.

Yelp
I tried their bbq pork, roast pork, and roast duck. Overall the flavors were great and the meat was really tender. But the meat was also cold/lukewarm despite being under a heat lamp, which definitely affected the crispness of the roast pork skin in particular. Note: they're cash only and some meats have min order amount

Yelp
Always great char siu here! The staff is very friendly and its fantastically authentic. Small grocery and bakery next door if you don't want to brave 168z

Yelp
I stopped by enroute back to Ann Arbor. I have been eyeing the place for some time, but finally made a detour. Cash Only - so make sure you have some greens with you. Walking in, there weren't too much items left. Not sure if they had more in the back, but 1/4 pork and 1 duck was left. It was also an hour before closing time, so I'm sure that was a big factor. I went with the pork belly - asked for a pound and got 1.25 pounds, total was $16 before taxes. Unlike Chinatown in New York City, no rice or veggies, just the meat. I know, you can't compare NYC to here, but yeah I brought it up and it was a lot cheaper in NYC. The important part is the flavor. The pork belly was bit salty, but it would have gone well with rice and steamed veggies. The meat was cold, most likely from hanging around all day long. A small 2 oz dipping sauce is provided with the order. For now three stars, will need to try their duck next time I swing by.

Yelp
still one of the good place for bbq meats, definitely better if getting it fresh out from the burner.

Yelp
This place has the best Chinese roasted pork I've had! The meat is tender and flavorful and the skin is deliciously crispy. They are consistently good with this. Their duck is also top notch: it has a deep five-spice flavor throughout, and is usually lean yet juicy. The other meats there are pretty good. Can't say they're on the same level as the roasted pork and the duck, but solid nonetheless. I do wish they accepted credit, but it's not a big deal.

Yelp
Excellent Char Sir, duck, crispy pork, as good as or better than NYC, Queens, LA, SF, Palo Alto and Toronto. Pandemic pricing is no bargain unfortunately. Try the Que Que bakery next door too. Best Char Siu bao anywhere. Cheap too.

Yelp
Authentic and delicious Chinese barbeque! I do want to note that it's a small establishment, so there's really no space to sit and eat. Also, like several other small businesses in the area, they only accept cash, so remember to come prepared. I always make the effort to stop by here after getting my hair cut at a nearby salon, as the roast duck and pig are my favorites. Both the pork and duck have crispy, fatty skin (the best part!) that is balanced out by the tender, leaner meat. Also, they are both accompanied by sauces that are packed with flavor and compliment the meats well. Pro tip: ask for extra sauce; it's definitely worth the $0.25.

Mrb L.

Yelp
This is my go to Chinese bbq place. I usually get the roasted pork and duck. Sometimes I get the chinese bbq pork too. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Almost the best oriental barbecue I ever had in east side of US . Great, authentic tasting. I will definitely come back for it . This is cash only

Yelp
Wish there was more menu options but for the majority of their food, my first impression was that it didn't look good and the pork belly looked dry and over cooked but I was wrong! The food here is delicious and well worth every penny. It is pricy but worth it. This can be your plug for family events to help with catering. Although I'm not sure if they do it but doesn't hurt to ask. They use parts of the pig and cow that not most would not want to try. Their pig (pork) tongue was not something I would try but my man got some and boy! It was not as bad as I thought it would be. Come here and support them! You'll enjoy your food just as much as me! The biggest thing that I wish they would change is the way they let you pay. It's cash only (super sad), would like it if they could accept credit cards or Apple Pay, etc. because I'm sure not most carry cash these days. Other than that, love it here. :)

Yelp
This place is a little slice of heaven. Amazingly prepared meats that are roasted to perfection with all of the crispy, juicy, yummy stuff. It will make your mouth water just thinking about it! Stop in grab and go, you will be taking home deliciousness!

Yelp
My absolute favorite roasted duck place. Used to eat it as a child. Came back to Michigan for a vacation and had to make a stop here. Again they did not disappoint me! 烧鸭太好吃了。我们从纽约回来度假也一定要过来吃。

Yelp
We recently relocated to Michigan and it's been tough not having Chinese food on every street. It's even tougher to find a Chinese barbecue spot like the Sam Woos back home in CA. I've been craving some bbq duck and pork. We finally decided to drive out this way for some good ole Asian grocery shopping and stopping by for some bbq. I was super excited to see roast pork! I love the crunchy skin. I wasn't sure by looking at the pork hanging in the display case if it was fresh or not. As soon as I got in the car I opened the box and popped a pork skin in my mouth. I was in heaven! The skin was crunchy and juicy. Just talking about it makes my mouth water! I seriously did the happy dance the whole time I ate all the pork skins! I had to try the pork just to see if it would match up to the skin, my gosh it was juicy, tender and full of flavor. I was however disappointed in the duck! It was a bit dry and chewy. I'm thinking of using the duck to make some jook. Overall I'd be back to get some more pork and possibly try some other bbq. Parking in private lot,it gets packed but always find a parking spot.

Yelp
This place is an old favorite. I always come here for their BBQ duck. It's a Togo spot, the meat they make is delicious. The price is also cheap, whole duck for $21 is not bad! Plus you can get it whole or cut up, and the side of duck sauce is amazing. This spot is cash only btw.

J C.

Yelp
I love this place, been coming here since I was a kid with my dad. Awesome roasted duck and roasted pork. Definitely come! Also there is an Asian bakery next door and an Oriental store so it's a great place to shop.

Yelp
The pork here is utterly incredible. We got a take out on our way back home. The smell drove us insane. The wait was worth it as we dove into a meal of roast pork and roast duck later. Yep, everyone is correct, there is nothing to get here but meat. Taking it out works as you can pair it with your own choice of homemade sides at home (or takeout ones from other places if you suck at cooking like me). Atmosphere here is not for the overly sensitive or clean freaks. If you are the squeamish type have someone else get it for you. Actually scratch that, if you can't handle the place you don't deserve to partake in their deliciousness. Sorry but that is the truth. The meat here is luscious. That is the best word I can use to describe it. Rich, juicy, melt in your mouth fabulocity. The seasoning only enhances the essence of the product. You don't really need anything else to eat but this, food pyramid be damned. I wish it were not such a hike.

Yelp
I was in the area shopping it up at Target so I decided to check this place out. I have the supermarket next to it bookmarked. I have been craving some BBQ Pork so I headed over here. This was like around 4pm on a Thursday. The door bell rings when you walk in. No one was there. I looked around and there was like nothing left. Sad face! The owner, "Liang" comes out. I ask him in Canto for some BBQ Pork. He goes to the back and takes some out. He offers you the option if you want it whole or chopped up. From what I observed he is pretty clean. He washed his hands. Hooray... Beware of Chinese places; sometimes they really need a visit from the health department. Anyway, cash only! Overall, I really liked the BBQ pork. Reminds me of home! I haven't checked out the other barbeque place yet on John R. so this place will get 4 stars for now.

Yelp
Every holiday that comes up, we as in mY family orders the duck and the pig stomach, and the pork intestines and they are always fresh, hot and ready to eat.

Yelp
Ready to become an adventurous eater? Liang's Oriental BBQ immediately makes you feel like you're either in China town or actually in China. If you've never really walked around China town, you may not be familiar with butcher shops that have hanging ducks, pigs, geese, etc..., but here, you get to see exactly what you are going to eat. When you walk in, you immediately see hanging duck, pig, then underneath are pig intestines, stomach, and other things that I didn't get to try. This place is amazing, plain and simple. So, I had some bbq pork, duck, and pig intestines. I of course have to try as much as I can eat. Both the duck and the pork were prepared so well and packed with flavor. The duck, which I normally don't like, was excellent. I haven't had it in a long time, but thought it was very good. I particularly don't enjoy the meat because it's so greasy. The pork was by far the best part of the dish. I literally could have eaten plates of it. I didn't want to stop. Now for the pig intestines. Well, I can't say that I've tasted it before or anything like it. It was very chewy and did have a dirtiness flavor, if you will. I could really only muster what was on my plate. I really don't think I could order it again. Don't get me wrong, it was terrible, but if I have a choice between that and the bbq pork, I'm going for the pork. The place is more of a butcher shop, bbq, ready to order. It's not a sit down restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Rating on the pork! Pork is goooood! Quick, and easy yum yum. Came at noon on Sunday and it was fresh. This is in the plaza located on the SW corner, spot itself is on the NW corner of the strip mall.
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
Best place for duck!! Really like the pork as well. Not many places to get Chinese bbq here but this is great! Bring cash!!

K R.

Yelp
I came here to compare this with Zhang on John Str. I got a pound of roast pork. It was hot (one of my few complaints about Zhang is it can be cold.) Liang skin was crunchy but the meat and bones were nearly burnt and it had a funky taste like it needed to be washed more before roasting. Maybe I just came at bad time. The skin was delicious. I will give them another try again. Right now I like Zhang better.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is the last store in a mini strip-mall, which appears to be dominated by Asian businesses. I tried the roast pork & the roast duck @ this place. First, the roast pork was completely uneventful. Not even warm. The pieces were bland & dry-this even after I asked for a fattier cut. The sauce provided with it was weird-like a thickened & slightly sweetened soy sauce **1 star** Second, the duck was warm, fatty & tasty. The sauce provided also added a nice touch which didn't overpower the flavor of the duck. Some duck pieces were too chewy & couldn't be eaten. **4 stars** Average the two out, & i give it 2.5 stars..bumped it up to a generous 3 stars. All in all, I wouldn't go back.
google avatar

Gianni Jasper D.

Yelp
Cash only, non pretentious take out barbecue joint serving golden crispy pork belly (among other Chinese roasted delicacies). Sauce is perfect with the pork and pork skin stays crunchy even after a few hours.

Kosuke Y.

Yelp
Well, their food was not bad at all but the owner was using his hands touching/ packing my food after receiving cash from me. Wash ur hands or get a plastic gloves. Otherwise I will not return to this place.

Food W.

Yelp
The ultimate roast pork in this area, the skin so crunchy and delicious. If I could I would eat this daily but I don't want to introduce lipitor to my life. They have Char Sie pork there along with other products. I do not care for their version of Char Sie pork. So fatty and unctuous the roast pork is, this with Sriracha hot souce and bitter vegetable, it must as close to fatty heaven as we can reach on Earth. I go out of my way to buy the roast pork and return as often as my body can take. Be advised, return here to often for their magnificent roast pork, soon you will be popping lipitor like pez. This is not a sit down restaurant, get your products and go home.

Eleanor B.

Yelp
Typical Chinatown bbq and perfect to satiate your discerning palate for roasted duck, Sui Yoke and Char Sui and other delicious flavors of organ meats. Worth a trip to Sterling Heights to buy and freeze all these BBQ meats!

Yelp
I have a hard time explaining "oriental bbq" to my friends who are not familiar with chinese roasted/bbq meat. I always end up with its literal translation, "burnt meat". So im gonna try my best not to make anyone think they are consuming cancer. The big three in oriental bbq : Roast pork, Roast duck and BBQ pork. Roast pork and duck is exactly what the name implies ,roasted whole pig or duck. What makes it unique is how crispy the skin gets and yet the meat stays juicy. Usually you would want to get the roasted pork belly cut. When the layer of juicy fat between the crispy skin and flavoured meat starts melting in your mouth you know its time to find that long lost gym membership cause you know you are gonna be back for more. BBQ pork is basically marinated pork strips roasted on a fork. The red colored pork is sweet and salty and goes great with rice. Liang's roasted pork and duck can be inconsistent. On a good day you would get the extremely crispy roast pork while on a bad day the skin can be on the soggy side. The BBQ pork however never disappoint. Just make sure to ask for the lean meat instead of the fatter ones. Stop by for a lb of meat, make some rice and top it off with a fried egg = an awesome dinner. Edited: Not the only place for roast/bbq pork. The other place on john r/13 totally slipped my mind since ive not been there in a long time.
google avatar

Dan O.

Yelp
I can't believe my luck to have two Chinese barbeque shops within a mile of my apartment! I prefer Liang's because their char siu (barbeque pork) is a little more like the taste of similar shops back in my hometown of Honolulu. Liang's is cash only, so be prepared. I use the char siu to accompany fried noodles, Chinese chicken salad, and my version of Chinese chicken noodle soup. Tasty, and always reminds me of home! A regular stop and a place to repeat when I get the craving!
google avatar

Robert J.

Yelp
I have been to Liang's a number of times. It's pretty tasty stuff. The two things that I keep getting are the soy chicken and the roast pork. Let's face it. I don't have a sweet tooth. I have a salt and fat tooth. How does that pan out in my choices? The soy chicken obviously has got the salt from the soy marinade. The fat is right there under the skin. The gorgeous, sensuous nature of the oily mouth feel and saltiness of the soy just satisfy my salt and fat tooth so well. It's flavorful and perfectly seasoned. It's great without the supplied ginger sauce, which is a perfect accompaniment. That little tang from the ginger really helps to offset the fattiness of the chicken. Marvelous. Come to think of it, my comments are really about the dish in general. I think that Liang's does an excellent expression of the dish. My Chinese friend loves it! She and I also love the porky goodness of the roast pork. Okay, it's not Cebuano lechon, which is the pinnacle of the pork pantheon--and Anthony Bourdain rightly agrees, but it's damn good. Crispy skin, fatty, savory, umami. It's the whole deal--everything good about roast pork. It's a great thing to bring home a plastic bag containing those white styrofoam containers with the roast pork and the soy chicken with the aromas filling the car, but it's unfortunate that one can't eat the stuff there. I would love for the Detroit area to have a Chinese tea house where we could have things like the roast pork, the soy chicken, and dim sum all under one roof. I'd love to be able to eat all this stuff there, but there is no such place in this burgh--to my never-ending disappointment.

Yelp
Roast Pork, Roast Duck, BBQ Pork, Oh My!!!! This take out restaurant is just fantastic in every way. If it is your first time going to this place order the pork it is outstanding. The skin on the pork is food orgasm. Yes, folks it is really that good. Ordering can be intimidating if it is your first time, but totally worth it. When you go to the order everything is bought by the pound. I recommend doing half pound portions because that way you can sample all the scrumptious goodies. There is a lot of time going into preparing these beautiful meats. The way the flavor is incorporated into every bite is just amazing. If you have never been to China Town in San Francisco, Toronto, New York, Chicago then this is similar representation of some of the fantastic places you find there. The best part is you don't have to travel all the way there to sample this type of food.

Michael S.

Yelp
BE ADVISED...CASH ONLY...Roast pork out of this world, not to fatty, not too dry either. The perfect texture. Reasonably priced. It's a shame they don't serve this with rice as a meal.
google avatar

Javier G.

Yelp
Tried both the roast duck and BBQ pork. Roast duck was good but the BBQ pork was subpar. Although the outer layer of the BBQ pork looked/tasted good, the interior meat was way too lean -- BBQ pork needs to be fatty. Prices are pretty decent though.
google avatar

Christie M.

Yelp
Yum! Just picked up some roast pork for lunch. Goes great with sticky rice and some chinese broccoli. Pork is flavorful and juicy! Well, correction, it is juicy if you get the good cuts. Avoid the bottom half because it is too dry. :) Cash Only!
google avatar

Marcy O.

Yelp
This review will be shorter than I'd like because of one important fact: cash only! $5 in hand, my husband and I walked in to Liang's and stared wistfully at the beautiful offerings. If we had more cash on us we would have tried the duck. Alas, we had to make a tough decision and go with the roast pork. Amazing! The meat is incredibly tasty, yet lean. The crispy skin must be doled out with each bite of meat or you are really missing out. We ate it in the car on the way home, we just couldn't wait.
google avatar

Sara G.

Yelp
UH-mazing. I walked in, placed my order, chopchopchop, walked out less than five minutes later with bbq pork and roast duck. Despite the gnawing in my belly, I stopped briefly at Kim's across the way for fresh Chinese broccoli so I could have a well balanced meal. At home as my rice cooker was a-hummin and the broccoli was a stir-fryin, I repeatedly (and quite lasciviously) stuck my fingers in the styrofoam containers, grabbing many a juicy morsel to shove into my mouth. The duck was moist, rich and delicious. The pork was juicy and flavorful with some quality crispy-burnt bits. Heavens to Murgatroyd. Small and unassuming. They know what you want, you know what you want. All meat, all cash, no conversation.

Tianpeng Y.

Yelp
I visited this place several times. Most of my friends recommended this place to me. Previously the pork taste is OK but now is really terrible. The taste of pork is not fresh and horrible. I would not visit it anymore. 烤乳猪不新鲜,味道难闻,口感极差

Yelp
Good, fast and cheap.

Yelp
Very good. My husband likes their roast duck, good price, about $21 inclusive tax, cash only. Will definitely come back again.

Yelp
I am a General Tsao's chicken kind of lady, so all I knew about Chinese BBQ came from the Yelp reviews of this place. I still wasn't sure what to expect. It is more of a cooked meat butcher than a carryout restaurant, meat only-damn good meat. Roasted pig isn't photogenic, but I took a picture of my roast pork just in case anyone else was curious about what exactly this meat people rave about looks like.

KingLandon 2.

Yelp
My parents have been bringing me here since I was really young and still has the best bbq

Sandra D.

Yelp
Wow, this was excellent. I wanted carry-out to serve as the cornerstone of a moveable feast that I was bringing to a relative's house who had just had a baby and maybe wasn't up to cooking. I got 2 pounds each of the cha sui (barbq pork marinated in red sauce...sweet taste) and roast pig (more savory taste). For both I was asked if I wanted it with fat, and I said no to both. Excellent taste, though next time I may opt for fat on the roast pig, I think the skin would be crispier and the meat more juicy with that option. Both meats were $10/lb so for 4lbs it worked out to $40 for six people with some leftovers. Also stopped at the Asian grocery store and bakery which are in the same complex for Chinese leafy green vegetables and sweet pastries. Feast complete!

Yelp
Best roast pork I've had in years. And I try roast pork everywhere. Moist and juicy meat and super crispy skin.

Keith C.

Yelp
Went into this BBQ to try the food. Was unable to do so, as the staff kept waiting on others and ignoring the fact that I was there. Not sure of reason other than i was not of the ethnicity they kept waiting on?
google avatar

Molida K.

Yelp
True, it's a dingy, small shop but it serves the purpose of fulfilling every carnivore's fantasy. Just walking by the place draws you in with its unctuous smells of roasting meat. You'll find your essential roasted/bbq'd duck, pork, and chicken here along with internal organ meat. The roast pork is a must try here--warm, crispy, fatty, and sinful, the way all food should be. The owners are really friendly and can accommodate even the most ridiculous request (I showed up one day during the summer and bought 5 roasted ducks on the spot and needed them boxed and bagged carefully to preserve their shape). Just be prepared to leave your credit card at home folks, cash only!
google avatar

Adam O.

Yelp
Was in the area picking up a package at the UPS store and pulled a U-turn on 13 mile during rush hour when I saw this place. Walked in to the beautiful sight of 5 roasted ducks hanging in the display window. I will be back to get one. This day, however, my mind was on pork. Grabbed a half pound of the roast pork which the woman took down off the hook and skillfully hacked into pieces before depositing into a Styrofoam box. The pieces didn't quite make it home. Single best pieces of pork I think I've ever had. Absolutely incredible.
google avatar

Matthew K.

Yelp
This is authentic Asian food-cart BBQ like you'd expect walking down the street in China. The person I went with had been in China for many weeks, and confirmed. The duck was certainly tender and juicy, but it was also a majority of fat, bone and cartiledge; the accompanying sauce dip was unappetizing. The BBQ pork I've read everyone rave about was just so-so; its juice dip helped save the flavor. It was unarguably tender, but the spice rub/glaze was lacking, and there was also an odd amount of fat for pork. I wouldn't say this place is bad, and if you walk in knowing what to expect and enjoy that kind of thing, I think you'll be in good hands. If this place were closer, I'd be tempted to try their chicken, but you have to order it in ~3lb quantities (ie, a whole chicken), so that just wouldn't do for lunch :) Overall, glad I tried the place, but I likely won't be back. The owners were friendly in their limited sort of way, so I'm glad other people enjoyed it more than me and will keep this place going. I've just made better smoked and BBQ'ed pork at home.

Yelp
It is what it is. A fantastic take out for Chinese roast pork, roast duck, soy chicken, and assorted innards I haven't tried. The pork is just astonishingly delicious. Like a number of people have said, it's very difficult to not eat in in the car on the way home. The duck is equally spectacular. Phenomenal. Yes, it's cash only. As long as you know that ahead of time, you'll be fine. Owners are very friendly, and have a cute son. If I could, I'd eat dinner from there every night. My two favorite pork foods in the D are the pulled pork at Slows, and the roast pork from Liang's.
