Libby Jane, the ‘Sister Cafe’ to Brenda’s Soul Food, Is Closed - Eater SF

"Libby Jane Cafe, a grab-and-go option for fans of Brenda’s French Soul Food, has closed after six years in business. The cafe was known for offering chicory coffee and other Creole-influenced items. The closure was announced on November 22, though the reason remains unclear." - Eve Batey

While waiting for Brenda's, we went next door to their coffee shot for a morning pick me up. Ordered a cup of cappuccino. Coffee and milk had a nice blend, tasted okay. The store had pastries, cookies, and jar products such as preserves. Customers at the cafe were likely all waiting for Brenda's. Oh the coffee shop sells the watermelon ice tea some people rave about at Brenda's.

If you want something to go and can't wait for a table at Brenda's, walk two stores down and you'll find Libby Jane Cafe for to-go sandwiches and other assortments. I ordered a turkey sandwich with pepper jelly and it spicy as it was delicious! It was around $6, which is pricey considering it's just meat and jelly between two pieces of white bread. But it was so good and I didn't want a lot of food anyway. This cafe also has soups and pastries, and sells jams. Brenda's also takes food orders over the phone, but if you want something a bit lighter and cheaper, I suggest checking out Libby Jane Cafe.

Pro: Better coffee than most franchised coffee shops including Philz. Con: They've removed the large size cup and charge a small cup for the price of the large. I wouldn't mind if they remove it, but due to greed - they've also increased the price of the smaller cup for 4.75 Latte. While the mom&pop shop in the same vicinity cost $2 less. Food - the biscuit is not only small like Trunp's hand, but they are dry and tasteless like Trunp's policy. Not to mention it will cost you $5 for it, and there's nothing special about it. You better off getting the biscuit from KFC, which is larger and softer. My recommendation is get the coffee here then buy your food somewhere else.

Walked in to the lady behind the counter rattling something off to another lady in Korean I think. When she was done she just turned to me and stared. I had to welcome myself and ask myself how I was today, RUDE ! Do some people completely forget they are in a Customer Service industry? Ordered a so so coffee and a tolerable breakfast sandwich and swore never to go back. Point of financial loss ? I have been walking by this place for two weeks since then on my way to any other coffee shop but theirs. Imagine the loss if they lose a customer who lives in the bay area. Side note: Brendas right next store for an amazing breakfast.
