Came here last night for a solo dinner at the bar. The tequila/mezcal old fashioned was just fantastic, the shishitos with cotija cheese were probably the best shishitos I've ever had, and the chicken flautas were kind of perfect. Wonderful attentive service. I would come back anytime and in fact I'm looking forward to that already. Thank you!

The food was delicious I had a half Reuben and a tomato bisque soup with apple juice for a drink. I only left out one star because the drink menu could be improved the juice was small and a little over priced.

By far, the most exquisite & delicious dining experience — fresh, flavorful & creative food made by talented chefs, served by informative & friendly people! Love this gem! Patio is so sweet. I also love sitting at the bar. Don’t sleep on the chicken flautas! Great place to celebrate a birthday.

What a great place! The welcoming atmosphere and intoxicating smells were drawing us in from the moment we got here. Our server was knowledgeable and kind. The food was fantastic, really incredible how much flavor they got into the chicken. Everything was really well thought out and we really appreciated the chill date atmosphere!

Google
Don’t let the location fool you, this place is a hidden gem. The food and drinks are 10/10. This Latin American/ Mexican food is authentic yet elevated. There is so much flavor and it just melts in your mouth. The drinks take you back to original Mexico, real tequila and mezcal. Not watered down at all on the contrary they are strong !Overall love how lowkey this place is and you truly get to savor and enjoy your drink. Definitely worth the drive and will definitely be returning !

Google
I am so sad to say this. I rarely leave a review that is negative. I’ve been to this restaurant so many times and loved the staff, the food and the ambiance. Tonight we had a 6:45 reservation where we were seated in a very high traffic area. There were two other tables for two vacant. I asked if we could have one of those instead and the hostess…who seemed frazzled said she needed to save those should they have larger parties later. I said we are here now and I’d like to be able to chat with my husband and not be in the middle of the traffic in and out of the kitchen. She retreated back to the owner I believe and started to help other patrons. We waited standing in the middle of the restaurant. She finally came back several moments later and went back to the owner to chat. They both looked at us and said this is the only table with a bit of tone. I looked at them both and said thank you we will go elsewhere. I’m most disappointed that we were left there standing while the owner has the hostess assist others and took awhile to come back. Lost a customer here. Amazing dishes but these days it’s not just about tasty food..it’s about how you make your customers feel. Do better.

Yelp
A gem right here in Skokie. It is a little expensive, but the food, vibe, and service are worth every penny. Now they have lunch--and it's not pricey. Please support this local treasure! And their patio space makes for a perfect evening.

Yelp
Went to Libertad with family for a birthday dinner this week. We had a reservation, and it was fairly full when we arrived but had mostly cleared out by the time we left. We arrived early to the reservation and still were able to sit down immediately, which was fantastic. We sat in the front section of the restaurant, which had a sort of rustic vibe. The kitchen/bar was very close to our table and made it hard to hear what everyone was saying, which I found a bit frustrating. We started with drinks - the margarita was fantastic and I highly recommend. After that, we were told they typically recommend ordering two plates per person - one appetizer/salad and one "main course." The restaurant claims to be small plates, but it wasn't "tapas style" in the way I consider most "small plate" restaurants to be. I'd say the servings are a bit small, but the plates aren't really meant to be shared, outside of the appetizers. The appetizers weren't separated from the main courses on the menu, though you could mostly tell what each one was based on the description. I personally felt two plates per person was too much and I would've been OK with just a dinner and a side, or even just a main course and a drink. Be warned that our server was very good at upselling us - I almost felt guilty not ordering what she recommended and ended up getting an extra side I didn't intend to. From the main courses, there's really only one vegetarian option - the cauliflower. It was delicious but I prefer when I have some choice in my dinner. The shisito and burrata appetizers were also fantastic. We had the calabacitas and papas bravas as sides - both were good, but not exceptional. For dessert, we ordered the sundae which contained horchata ice cream and it was delicious.

Yelp
Cute restaurant in the Skokie area. There was free street parking in the front so that was a plus. Pretty empty when we went for lunch on Sunday (didn't really need a reservation, but just in case). Our group ordered a variety of food and they were all pretty good. The drink menu was a bit pricey for the size. The food didn't take a long time. There is an indoor area and then an enclosed outdoor patio which was great, because even though it was a bit chilly, we were not affected by the wind. Would come and eat the food again. Maybe come try out the dinner menu next!

Yelp
Libertad surprised me in the best way! Service was super sweet. I really liked the head of house a lot. She was so personable and gave her opinion on dishes, which I always appreciate. The space is simple and that perfect blend of lightness/airiness while still being intimate. They suggest 3-4 plates between two people, and we went with 3 and had plenty of leftovers. Queso de cabra was fantastic. Flautas were AMAZING. Chuleta, and actually especially the sweet potato purée, was cooked to perfection. All dishes were well balanced. Drinks were STRONG. I got the fresas one and my husband got the G&T, and both were the perfect summer drinks. I'm just so happy with our experience there! It was so perfect. We would return.

Yelp
Libertad is a gem for its location in Skokie. Latin American small plates delight the senses with imaginative flavors and visuals. We enjoyed the carne asada (and especially the sauce!), the grilled octopus (pulpo), the flautas, and many more dishes. Drinks were well-balanced and kept us coming back for more. Service was attentive, gregarious, and kind.

Beatrice A.

Yelp
Food was pretty good! First time here. The braised pork rib was excellent. The sauce was great that accompanied it. The yuca fries were so addicting. The pulpo was my least favorite because there was barely any octopus in the dish. I was very disappointed and wish there was more than just a few pieces of octopus in the dish. The flautas were great and very saucy. Service was impressive. When I initially parked my car by Libertad and was about to walk up to restaurant, I thought it was closed. The restaurant is very dark on the inside, darker than a typical dimly lit restaurant in my opinion. I was in a group of 6 and a few people in my party were unable to see the menu.

Marisa Y.

Yelp
My coworkers and I visited for dinner after a very stressful workday. We were taken to the back patio that was just like a tropical haven with greenery and soft lighting. We arrived for an early dinner and had the special cocktail, shared a few apps. Everything we tried was amazing and the waitress was very helpful in suggesting items to try. The food was fresh and portions didn't leave you feeling too full. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely stop by!

Brianna P.

Yelp
We've been for brunch a handful of times, and it's always been great. The outdoor seating is lovely, the menu has something for everyone. We had gone for "fancy" brunch but really the prices are quite reasonable. The waitress we had was super kind, and they brought complimentary birthday treats for those of us celebrating. I really like the coffee made with a touch of cinnamon!

Stacy O.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday evening to celebrate my husband's birthday. He chose Libertad from among several restaurant options presented to him. We easily made a reservation on OpenTable for 7 p.m. and requested a table on the patio. We were seated right away at our table for two. Our server greeted us shortly after being seated with an amuse bouche of potato and red pepper soup in a demitasse cup, which was creamy and delightful. Our server gave us a tour of the menu, highlighting how dishes were organized and making some recommendations of her favorites. We started with the ensalada cezar and the shishito peppers. The salad was too fishy for my preferences (not specifically their fault - they disclose the anchovies on the menu). There was also basil in the salad, which didn't mesh well with the other flavors. I saw a woman at the table next to us have a similar reaction to mine when trying her salad, so that one seems like maybe a course to skip? The shishito peppers were great - pan roasted and topped with cojita cheese and tajin. I could have made a meal out of those! We also ordered salmon, which was chipotle marinated, and a special of filet served with rosemary chimichurri. I only had a small bite of the salmon, and it was flavorful and smoky. The filet was also very good and prepared well. The rosemary chimichurri will live on in my dreams. My husband received a scoop of ice cream (dulce de leche with caramelized bananas) as a complimentary dessert. He enjoyed it (I skipped it because I'm allergic to bananas). Our cocktails - a margarita and the gran guerra - were both good. I appreciated the freshness of the margarita, made with fresh lime juice. My critiques: -The patio has vinyl "walls" around it, so the pictures online of the outdoor seating are disingenuous. It was disappointing on a perfect summer evening when we were specifically looking forward to being semi-outdoors. -Our table on the patio was in the middle of the space. Every time someone walked by, our table was bounced and jostled on the wood planks. That table just shouldn't exist until they secure the floor joists. It was like being in a bounce house while eating dinner. -Potentially resolved by the above, the tables are very close to each other, which was disappointing when a man at the table adjacent to ours started very loudly sharing his opinions about "DEI hires" among other topics. The food was good, and I would consider coming back to explore more of the menu, but the ambiance missed the mark for us for a special occasion.

Sigmund K.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times over the years but just writing a review now! We've gone during the summer and they have a nice little patio area in the back. Not a huge amount of space but it's well-covered so everything is shaded and comfortable. Better to use if you have a smaller party, probably no more than 4 people. We once went with a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids) and it was a little tricky, but the staff was very accommodating and made it work for us. We typically went for their brunch/lunch menu and I usually get their Breakfast Burrito. Very substantial and filling with great flavor! My wife has gotten the chilaqueles and she also enjoyed it. We haven't tried their brunch cocktails yet but their pineapple agua fresca was good (though too sweet for my wife). I'm getting hungry just writing this review so we'll be making our way back again soon!

John M.

Yelp
We had excellent dining experience at Libertad. After telling our server, Jenny, which plates we were interested in she curated a perfect meal. The food was not only delicious but the presentation was amazing. The restaurant's kitchen is located in plain sight of the tables so that you can watch the plates being created.

Alexandra A.

Yelp
Yummy yummy in our tummies! This cozy and upscale-ish establishment offers 40-45 seats for indoor dining and also offers outdoor heated dining (back of restaurant). The atmosphere is minimalistic. Wood tables, seats and a long shared bench against the wall. It's a little cramped which can make it hard to hear conversations with people you're with, but for introverts - this is a perfect spot lol. There is also a bar area that seats 5 guests. Their mezcal cocktails (la dragona and la guerra) are definitely top notch and delicious. Smokey, spicy with a hint of fruit and smoothness to it, they are VERY good and I highly recommend them. The food was okay - this is a pretty pricey place so I was expecting a bit more from the food. Still good! Just not 5 stars for me. My favorite was the pescado - full of unique flavors, refreshing and filling. My con of it was it's heavy on the butter/oil side. My fiancé and I also tried the pulpo and crane asada. I was impressed with the service - I only saw 1 waitstaff person and she was fairly quick with getting all the orders in. She timed our meal out very well, as soon as we were finished with a course another 1 was coming out. Plenty of other people bringing food to the tables, refilling waters, etc but only 1 server (Amy). She was really nice and had a smile on her face the entire time. Oh! We also got a fresh plate and fresh utensils for each course. That's a bonus in my book as this gives a clean and fresh palette.

Aria H.

Yelp
Absolutely impeccable! Flavors are spot on, service is awesome, space is lovely and warm. All around fabulous meal--the chicken flautas are a MUST! The esquites were exquisite. So perfect I forgot to take any pictures. But EASILY the best meal I've had this month. You have to go!

S N.

Yelp
I had the good fortune to experience their new lunch service today, and it was just perfect. Great options and reasonable prices. The tacos and chopped salad were elevated without being fussy, and the service was on point.

Melissa M.

Yelp
I hadn't been to Libertad since before the pandemic. It was one of my go-tos for a downtown-ish meal and vibe with the convenience of being in a nearby suburb with plenty of free parking. I went for Sunday brunch and ordered the Pambazo; crispy fried chicken, guajillo dipped roll, habanero dressing, cabbage, avocado. It was fresh and delicious with the perfect spicy kick. Our server was really great about making sure I was ok with spicy food and offered options to offset the heat. I ordered with no modifications and loved it. I was surprised with a comped dessert since we were celebrating my birthday. It was a very sweet surprise and a lovely ending to a great meal. I'm sorry I didn't catch our server's name but she was really sweet and helpful! I'm glad to say that Libertad has held up their high quality and I look forward to returning for a girls night out or intimate celebration.

Joel J.

Yelp
Came with my wife and her cousins to get dinner here. Its a nice cozy spot with friendly staff. We were greeted right away and they set up a table for out reservation of 5. Our server was kind and helpful in figuring out food and drink options. We all picked mainly based off her recommendation. I got the Carne Asada with the mocktail Hielo Caliente. My wife got the Margherita Zero to go with her Lomo Saltado. We were served our drinks pretty quickly. I loved the Hielo Caliente and my wife really liked it as well. The Margherita Zero was okay but I dont think my wife was a huge fan. Our food came out soon after. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly medium and each bite was delicious. The yuca fries on top were also good but i just wish they were larger instead of so many small fries. My wife loved her Lomo Saltado and really seemed to enjoy it. The others all got similar dishes and seemed to enjoy them as well. Overall, I would say the quality and taste of the food is excellent. The drinks are quite inventive and delicious. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Great place to come for a nice evening to spend with loved ones!

Jason S.

Yelp
My wife and I enjoyed ourselves at Libertad for Valentine's Day. The experience was nice and we were both impressed by the service. We started with a cocktail. The drinks were strong but also mixed well. The lomo saltado was different from some that I've had in the past. Different isn't a bad thing and I still really enjoyed the meal.

Oana D.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Really authentic. The service was great. The bartender was really nice and sweet.

Stacey A.

Yelp
Delicious and creative fare. Amazing cocktails, I wanted every appetizer, entrees were delicious & it may have been the best ice cream I have ever eaten. It's not a big place, but it's nice to have a group who will share. Everything is good!

David F.

Yelp
Service was outstanding, food was very good, medium portions. The atmosphere in the place was upscale and fun. Open Kitchen lets you see the Chefs work. Parking near by on street or walking distance from public lot

Heather Y.

Yelp
Delicious items and would come back after discovering the restaurant on Google. The amuse bouche was a corn soup, which was delicious and then knew entrees were going to be good and they were. Shared the papas bravas, chiles relleno w/ crab, short ribs, and 1/2 chicken with mole. All was excellent on top of fantastic service.

Kelli K.

Yelp
I'm not exaggerating when I say I LOVE everything about this restaurant. You can tell they truly care about the details and it shows in the food, drinks, service and ambiance. Lately my restaurant list is getting much shorter due to overpriced and bad quality ingredients at a lot of places, but Libertad is special and worth every $$$. Oh and on NYE we did have to wait for our reserved table and even chose to wait a bit longer for a table by the window but we had the most delicious drinks while we stood with a crowd by the door. Stuff happens the restaurant can't control and that's life folks. If that's the thing you write a bad review about then I'm truly sad you missed the energy & warmth I experience every time I go to Libertad!

Mikaella M.

Yelp
Can't believe I haven't tried this gem of a place when it's only 5 mins away from where I lived! First of all, I highly recommend making a reservation since the location is on the small side with a little patio in the back. We came an hour after opening and we got seated at the patio because the inside was all booked up. It got busy real quick. Alright, let's get to the good stuff! Before anything else, we were served with a complimentary cup of a potato soup amuse-bouche that was rich and savory in flavor. That was a pleasant surprise! For an appetizer, we also got the Pan to share and the ciabatta was crispy and buttery on the outside and soft inside. For my entrée, I got the Camarones and wow! The shrimp was sweet and cooked to perfection and the blue corn polenta purée complimented the chile butter. I don't know about others but in my culture, we like to suck on the juices off the head of the shrimp and that's just what I did! Also, I didn't want to waste the sauce on my plate, so I used the leftover ciabatta to mop up the rest of all that goodness! I'm not leaving anything off that $24 plate, haha! My friend ordered the Carne Asada and I had nothing bad to say about it. It was cooked in the temperature he wanted and the yuca fries with chimichurri completed the whole dish pretty well. Another friend ordered the Pescado and from what I could see, the salmon was soft and not dry. For desserts, I had to try Budín de pan and that really just completed the night for me. The bread pudding with the plantains and horchata ice cream sang in my mouth and it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet as I was expecting! I wish the bread pudding was warm all the way because the center was still a little cold but otherwise, it's a dessert I'd still want to eat again. We also ordered their Tres Leches and it was my first time seeing a chocolate variant. I've tried the usual original ones and I found those too cloyingly rich but this one was wonderful! The sweetness of the cake was offset by the tartness of the raspberry salsa. The servings were also pretty big and could be shared! I gave service 5 stars right off the bat. Our server was just so friendly and she immediately accommodated us with a high chair for my friend's baby. She kept checking back on us and I loved that! The only thing off putting to me was that we barely even finished a plate and someone was already approaching our table to take our plates away. We felt kinda hurried every time a server did that, but I wouldn't say it took away from the overall dining experience. While overzealousness and efficiency were appreciated, this was a little uncomfortable. Even so, I definitely still want to come back! There're still items on the menu that I'm excited to try!

Jill R.

Yelp
We had such an incredible dining experience at this sublime restaurant. We were given a gift card to eat there and I am SO thankful! We had late reservations and were the last patrons to be there at closing. Even though, we are sure the staff was wanting to close for the night, they never rushed us or seemed annoyed that we were still there. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy and besides the main dining area where we were seated, there was another dining area in the back. Our meal started off with a tiny cup of black bean soup, courtesy of the chef. It was perfectly textured, and absolutely amazing. Once we tasted that, we knew that a great meal was coming!!! As my husband is a vegetarian we picked all vegetarian items from the menu. We picked four of the smaller plates but believe me it was plenty of food. (We brought home leftovers) The portion sizes were great and the dishes were spaced perfectly. We started with the Brussels sprouts that were made in a maple syrup chile sauce. They were cooked perfectly between soft and a little firm. Next up was the Poblano which was my personal favorite. It was filled with goat cheese and habanero Jack, mushrooms and some other vegetables. My husband even liked it and he doesn't normally eat goat cheese. The crispy potatoes were exactly as they said "crispy" and they were simply amazing. Our final dish for dinner was a squash dish made with salsa macha and our waiter, Miguel, who was simply the best, explained its origins, and how the sauce came from the Chinese influence in Mexico many years ago. We ended with amazing desserts. Yes, we had two desserts! We had the Tres leches cake and the dessert of all deserts recommended by Miguel: a guava cheesecake. I will be definitely getting that guava dessert again. We had the best and kindest service at this restaurant. You could tell that everyone that worked there liked each other, and there seemed to be a great camaraderie. Besides, Miguel being fantastic, our bus boy was so personable and polite. You have to check out this restaurant in downtown Skokie. You wouldn't believe that a gem like this exists there.

Wes R.

Yelp
Amazing food and great cocktails. Very hip inside, wait staff was all very helpful with allergies and offered free starter, a hot corn based drink, really interesting and nothing I would have got on my own. Highly recommend

Tiffany C.

Yelp
I was expecting more options in the menu and from the taste of food. Cocktails i would skip and just make one for myself at home. Looking at the reviews more than 800 and i was truly disappointed at how it might as well be an ordinary taqueria

Robert F.

Yelp
We celebrated an anniversary this week with a delicious dinner here. Started with The Asparagus salad (Lincoln log size spears) alongside a crab salad. Also with just the right amount of spice. However the Pulpo was the star of the evening. One really large and thick tentacle. More than enough for two people. Service was very good. Will try and return in the summer and try the patio seating.

Peter S.

Yelp
If you sit in the dining room where the bar is located be prepared for it to be loud and busy. Not very relaxing. Some people enjoy that kind of thing, but I felt it distracting and annoying. The food was ok. At first the crispy potatoes were delicious but when the sauce wears away after a few bites it was like eating unflavored mashed potatoes. Perhaps cut the potatoes into smaller chunks or add more sauce? The sauces were fine flavors and they were cooked to a nice level of crispiness. The chicken I ordered was decent. Nothing special though. Yes, I ordered the cheapest thing on the menu so what should I expect? But cheapest does not mean inexpensive. I have no doubt that if you are well off you will give this restaurant a good review, but if you are on a budget do not expect to be wowed. The staff was freindly and yada yada yada. Again, with so much bustle and noise that hardly mattered. You miss half of what they say because background noise overcomes the conversation and you don't want to have to yell and ask "whhaaat?" every other sentence.

Cici C.

Yelp
We were able to call ahead to reserve some outdoor seating if 8 people and the staff were super friendly and helpful in getting us high chair and moving tables around to fit the strollers as we have two parties with kids. The outdoor seating is a bit limited, crammed, and very enclosed, I'd wished it would be more open air. Probably seats 4-5 parties, 10-20 people at most. The set up is super elegant with nice glasses for water and paper cups for kids water. Breakfast burrito-- we asked without cheese and they easily accommodated. Served with baked potato and some side salad. Big chunks of soft fluffy egg and avocado, I especially loved the the thick cut Canadian bacon (ham)'s flavor and texture, it provides a nice chew. My oldest daughter liked it a lot too. Cuban braised pork torta with brioche bun-- wow this was so good. Pico de gallo plus sunny side up egg on top of juicy smoked flavorful braised beef, was suuuch a good combo. Would order this again! French fries were perfectly crunchy. I do wish they served on a bigger plate since I was juggling with feeding kids too. But the rectangular plate is very pretty. Side pancakes-- these are thick and fluffy, definitely fluffier than 0.5 inches thickness and it's firm and soft also. Not overloaded with powdered sugar which is great. Can dip in syrup, which is also not super thick, which is good. Overall I really liked the quantity and especially the quality of foods. The brunch menu is reasonably priced and of good value. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Susan G.

Yelp
We come here at least once every couple months for dinner or brunch. The food is always good. This review is for the brunch we enjoyed today. The breakfast burrito was perfect - crispy bacon, plenty of eggs, cheese and avocado accompanied by crispy potatoes and pickled onions. My husband had the Benedictinos which is a twist on a breakfast sandwich, served open-face with an english muffin underneath covered with ham, elote hollandaise sauce, and a poached egg. Everything arrives at the table hot and delicious. I saved room for the tres leches cake served with drunken cherries and my husband had the bread pudding. ALWAYS SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! The outside patio is closed for the season, but in the warmer months it is great to sit out there. Service is brisk as the restaurant is small (seating maybe 30 people inside) and there are always people waiting. Definitely recommend Libertad.

Kristy S.

Yelp
Very good food. Very good service. The place is a great place to eat with friends, or celebrate, or just enjoy the weather.

Michael S.

Yelp
Excellent, excellent. Not a bad bite. The service was excellent, the drinks were tasty, and the food, bite to bite was absolutely delicious. Keep up the great work.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Unique and delicious! Love the blend of flavors and creative cuisine. Love this place!

Jen S.

Yelp
The food is very good as was the service. Downside---We sat on the patio and it is very stuffy and stifling in the summer. Put some fans out there maybe. It was very uncomfortable for us .

Timothy N.

Yelp
Probably the only restaurant that is worth going out of your way to, if you come to down town Skokie. This place is a bit pricey. So I would treat it as a place for special occasions. There isn't much in terms of down town Skokie in my opinion, but this is easily a popular spot. I would make your reservation early since this place get pack easily on a weekend night. It's Mexican inspired food. I would say the flavors are really subtle. It is not the most flavorful but it is really balance in taste for me. Pork belly: Nice and tender. Carne Asada: hint of lime very juicy. They have a good cocktail menu with a bunch of unique choices. Dessert is off the menu but I recommend trying it since it is a bit different from the norm.

Raul G.

Yelp
Second time at Libertad and both times did not disappoint!! Great food, terrific service, and great atmosphere. I had the pozole rojo and it was very good. My wife had the Pambazo and I'm glad she couldn't finish because I get to have the other half we brought home. Can't wait to go back!!

Jean D.

Yelp
We had a sampling of dishes. Asparagus and crab, salmon, broccoli, shrimp, carne asada and we sat in the patio area. We went this past Thursday for lunch and came back Saturday evening. Food was delicious, very friendly staff, we love this new discovery.

Samantha C.

Yelp
We arrived here for Dinner at 8 pm (with a reservation) on a Friday night, and was surprised at how busy it was at that time! As you drive by the restaurant, the restaurant itself was so dark I thought it was closed! Inside is very dimly lit, but thankfully we sat by the window so the street lamps allowed me to read the menu! The menu itself was very limited (food wise). Cocktails and alcoholic drinks made up about more than half the menu. The menu was split into vegetarian, fish, and meat options. Everything was pretty steeply priced and the menu itself recommends 2 plates per person, and 3-4 plates for couples sharing. However, I felt like the dishes themselves weren't as small as the menu led me to believe. 2 plates per person would have been too much food in my opinion. Each plate was averaging about $25+. I ordered the pork belly and scallops special, which was a unique combination. Nonetheless, the dish was pretty good. The pork belly was very tender and the meat just melts in your mouth. The scallops were a great complement to the dish.

Yelp
My SO and I were looking forward to dining at Libertad after a wonderful experience at a very similar restaurant, Amerikas. The amuse bouche soup was a highlight for me. It was so smooth and savory. I'd be happy if they served this as an entree. The poblano is something that everyone hypes up, but I'm so sad it missed the mark for me. There isn't much contrast in textures and tasted more like drunchies than something served at a nicer restaurant. Our entree of the braised short rib was very delicious, very tender. The chocolate bread pudding dessert was a nice end to the meal and we left very full. Another thing to note is that we sat inside the main dining room where there's the open kitchen. Although this feature was fun, we left the restaurant with food smells drenched in our hair, clothes, and coats. Even though there were some misses for me, I'd still want to come back to try their other dishes sometime. The service was nice and I don't doubt that Libertad has many other delicious menu items that I just haven't tried yet.

Yelp
It's been awhile and Libertad delighted us again with great food, cozy ambience, and great service! The small plate starters were terrific-- the Brussels sprouts especially. Entree wise, the special whitefish and short ribs were so good-- the ingredients are just so fresh and perfectly combined with the Latin flair that's the it factor here. There was just enough room for dessert, and a few bites of the chocolate was the perfect finish. The only wrinkle was that our table was under the heater, which was blowing on my head the entire meal.

Yelp
I am so glad to have had the opportunity to return to Libertad for the first time in an long time, and for my very first Libertad brunch! As always, service was fantastic. I opted for French toast which was amazing: I ate every bite. I also enjoyed the homemade guava juice, which was fantastic. Our server very kindly treated our table to a free dessert, and I cannot remember the name of what we had, but it was chocolatey and delightful. The value is still absolutely incredible: truly, I cannot believe how low the bill was. I cannot wait to go back again soon!

Yelp
Wonderful food, expert and friendly servers, nice vibe! Go there! We had been there a few times over the years, and had a wonderful meal every time. Then, one day last summer, we came with a visiting relative. His favorite hobby seems to be sniping at wait staff and demanding to speak to the chef because there was a "D" in the name of the day. Sure enough, he gave the poor server a rough time while ordering, but the server kept their composure and brought us a beautifully cooked and plated, expertly served dinner. Sir Sneersalot had NOTHING to complain about - a first, in my experience! All this to say that Libertad is a wonderful restaurant that can give anyone a Grade AAA dining experience!

Yelp
You might miss seeing this place if you didn't know exactly where it was. Very unassuming store front but definitely worth a visit. Last night three of us had dinner. Seemed relatively quiet for a Wednesday night although we had a 6:00 reservation. We started with cocktails - a vodka cranberry and two margaritas. The three of us shared a hummus appetizer that had a little kick to it and was served with a very large freshly made piping hot pita bread. Moving on to main dishes - halibut, short rib tostadas and scallops for me which were cooked exactly as requested. Our server and her trainer were knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. The presentation of each item was gorgeous and we loved it all! $$$ and very worth it.

Yelp
I love Cuban food-- I love the twist on this Cuban food. My friend saw this place, and we stopped by for brunch. I had no idea they had a back patio-- so I'll tell you about my experience in the main room. LIBERTAD has an open concept kitchen which I love, filling the space with all the wonderful aroma of food. While you wait, sip on the horchata cocktail--- it has Sake In it and London gin--and surprisingly STILL tastes like horchata. A few lovely ladies who constantly checked in recommended and talked about how it was their favorite on the menu. It's a spacious restaurant with a full bar, patio, great staff, and good food!

Yelp
Hubby and I came for brunch on a weekend and sat on their patio since it was a nice day. The patio is tucked in the back of the restaurant and is covered. There were a few other patrons but most of the tables were available. I had the chilaquiles (tortilla chips, salsa verde, crème fraîche, queso fresco, egg). Hubby had the breakfast burrito (scrambled eggs, cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, avocado, pico de gallo, roasted potatoes, crème fraîche). We both enjoyed our meals and the portion sizes were plentiful since we both needed to ask for to-go boxes to bring back our leftovers. I also had the agua fresca of the day which was pineapple. It was on the sweeter side so I drank half and hubby finished the rest for me. Our waitress checked on us throughout our meal and we had a good dining experience.

Yelp
We came here with friends who recommended it. And WOW was it phenomenal. Food, drinks, and service were all terrific! It is a true gem with a Chicago neighborhood restaurant feel, without going all the way into the city. One of the best restaurants we've tried in a long time!
