This place is such a vibe. We wondered to this place during First Friday Art Walk. We happened upon an elevator on the side of this building without realizing where it was leading to. We enter and its neon pink with signs signaling to the top floor. The elevator dings and you are greeted with cozy, eclectic, buzzing vibes of a cool and swanky place. It’s just the right energy for a casual but also cool spot. The bartenders make excellent drinks! And the food is also pretty good. There is not bad seat in the place in my opinion. Also! I had to told the waiter we were there to celebrate my father in laws birthday, and the waitress brought out a slice with a candle! It was so sweet and thoughtful. He said it was his best birthday ever! I highly recommend coming to this place at night if you want immaculate vibes.

Google
Good food, neat house, and decent experience in South Town. Been here a few times, usually good overall. Food is descent overall, but there are some delicious items on the menu to not miss (the burger isn't one of them). Wait staff are a mixed bag, some are outstanding, some barely come to the table and show no hustle. It hasn't stopped us from coming though - that says a lot!

This is a unique casual place for great food and service in an amazing location. We will definitely be going back. My pics show stairs, but there is also an elevator that goes from the parking lot directly to the dining room.

We sat at the bar. We shared a goat cheese topped with pilloncillo and it had some dried peppers on it. It came with sourdough bread. It was very good. We also had some house cocktails and they were very very good. Gabriel the bartender was very knowledgeable and was a good host.

Google
Tell me why this is my fav brunch spot. Started with the bread basket. I'm not sure if their jam is homemade but it's so good. I always opt with the simple breakfast. The potatoes on the simple breakfast could be a tad bit fried better. That's my only complaint. Dinner at the liberty bar is good too. You have to try their chips and queso , salsa flight. That is a 10/10. The cocktails are A+

Google
We always have a good experience here. Great food, great drinks, welcoming whether we're coming as a couple, with our kids, or in a larger group of people. One of our kiddos is vegetarian, the other is extra picky, and both can easily find things to eat here. Friendly staff and laid back vibe, prompt service. Great interior for playing I spy. :) They have a small parking lot on site, and there's also street parking nearby.

Absolutely loved this spot! Great atmosphere, delicious dinner, and great service!

Google
Beautiful and eclectic, great views, great vibe, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you receive. The bread, pizza dough, and fettuccine are made in-house. The drinks are well made, and the decor is fun and shares a history of the place. I would say a 4.6 experience. The only real negative was that the music is way too loud by the speakers, so it feels that you have to raise your voice when speaking, and it's hard to hear anything. It made everyone raise their voices, which just increased the noise levels. Besides that, great experience. Will be going again.

Yelp
My family and I absolutely love Liberty Bar! The food is always amazing, and the service is consistently top-notch. I highly recommend trying the coconut cake - it's so delicious that I literally dream about it!

Yelp
From the moment we pulled up, we were charmed by the setting. Situated in an old Victorian with a lovely outdoor courtyard, this place passes the vibe check. We were seated upstairs by the window, which was a lovely place to sit, even on a cold, cloudy day. We started with cocktails off the list, which were cleverly named after the NATO phonetic words to spell out Liberty. I did the Romeo, and my friend did the Tango. Both were good. The Romeo was smooth and infinitely drinkable. The Tango was a burst of the charred rosemary up front with a sweet, drinkable finish. I ordered a sourdough margarita pizza off the specials menu, and it had the most unique but pleasant flavor. I actually ate all the crust for the pizza! My friend had a hamburger, which she said was really good and very filling. I liked this place a lot, and I will definitely come back when I am in San Antonio next. I'd love to do a brunch here!

Yelp
A converted convent has found a new life spreading the word of great food to the people. Low lit with international and local decor pepper the historic building. You may sit in a pew or belly up to the bar. It is an interesting commentary on today's landscape, culinary harmonization, and religious dichotomy. Service was friendly, albeit a bit slow. Everything we ate and drank was worth the wait. Go hungry. Get the bread and then get some more. Drink all the drinks. We enjoyed the Romeo and Echo. The shrimp tacos plate was licked clean. The handmade pasta received raves of "literally the best I've ever, ever had in my life" from my SIL, and the potroast juices were sopped up with all the scraps of bread by the others at the table. The beef and lamb burgers were both enjoyed, but the lamb received the edge. The Beirut Flashback was just that- a Vaseline memory of tastebuds past. The hummus, garlic and chickpeas stole the show with the pita. We rolled out very full and wanting more. I'd love to go back and sit on the patio. (Fair warning, dining is up a flight of stairs)

Yelp
Had lunch, ordered some specials. Not many guests, mostly people sitting at the bar. Service was extremely slow unfortunately, when we finally got orders in and food, the steak had an odd "freezer burn" taste like it was old. Had to send it back. They did take it off the bill, but charged for the sides it came with. Lol! First time for everything.

Yelp
0 star if I could. The place was not busy, just 3 of us and 4 at the bar. We waited 18 min for the server, but no one came. I had to go to her to ask if she can take our order. It was about an hour before we got food. Steak tastes old like sitting in the fridge too long before cooking. We had to send it back. But charged us anyway for the mashed potato and spinach sides. I definitely will not go back.

Yelp

Yelp
Wonderful! It's great any time of day. We went for dinner. Made a reservation. We walked in and were greeted by a smiling face who led us to our table. Our server was kind and the ambiance was amazing. We were sat in the corner of one of there dining rooms, next to two bookshelves full of cookbooks and others. Food was Wonderful! I had the pot roast. Absolutely amazing. The potatoes were tender and so was the meat. I added a bit of salt, but for a dish like that, I would prefer not enough salt as opposed to too much. My wife got the fettuccine Alfredo and loved it. I got a freshly squeezed (to order) orange juice which was obviously delightful. My wife got the limeade and she liked it as well. I've been coming here since I was little and I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Always enjoy dining in here! The ambiance is elegant yet casual, and the service is always fantastic. Happy hour drinks are $8 and well worth too! Tried the chicken achiote, and it was SO moist and soft! One of the best pieces of chicken I've ever had, and seasoned well too. The rice and sautéed cabbages and onion were to die for!!
google avatar

Yelp
Came in on a Thursday and it is 1/2 off margaritas all day which was legit. We shared a chicken salad sandwich and they split it into two plates which was totally appreciated. Service was on point and happy hour is 3-5pm.

Yelp
Liberty Bar & Grill is a one-of-a-kind spot in SATX. Where else could you get excellent Matzoh Ball Soup, Chili Relleno en Nogada, and Pot Roast in one place? Not to mention creative and luscious cocktails and N/A drinks? Oh, and great desserts, too!! Service was attentive and helpful and the place has an ambiance that is also unique: a former convent, painted pink, in the King William district. Go!

Yelp
Skip Brunch at The Gunther House and walk over to Liberty Bar for brunch. The Huevos Ranchero was awesome!

Yelp
A great place for brunch! Incredibly friendly staff, quick service, and delicious food. I am looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu.

Yelp
I haven't been to Liberty Bar since they moved to this location many years ago. The restaurant is located in a former convent, so it definitely has a unique atmosphere. Whether you are out for a casual meal with friends, or looking for a unique date night, this is the place for you. We had the falafel pita and the grilled portobello sandwich. The falafel pita, was just so-so. The falafel was a bit dry and was kind of on the bland side. However, the hummus and tabbouleh were both delicious. The portobello sandwich was amazing, and my mouth is watering now as I write this! The mushroom was grilled to perfection, and the toppings were all fresh and flavorful. The sauerkraut added a nice tangy touch, and the gruyere cheese was melted perfectly. I also had the potato salad, which was also great. It was creamy and flavorful, and it was the perfect side dish for the sandwich. Good food, great atmosphere, and great service.

Yelp
Really great food. Service was excellent. History of the building is super cool. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Poor service, extremely long wait just to get our drinks and even longer to take order and get food. Food is overpriced undercooked

Yelp
What a cute spot! I've passed by this pink house on the corner several times, but never got around to trying it until recently. For some reason, I always assumed they just had drinks but they are a full-blown restaurant and bar. And the menu is extensive! We started with the meatball appetizer, and... these were maybe some of the best meatballs I've had. It was served in tomato sauce with toast and it was gone within minutes. The homemade fettuccine caught my eye, and I tried the Alfredo sauce and added shrimp. It was tasty and the shrimp were nice and big as well. For us, the drinks were a little hit or miss. We had a couple of beers on draft which were fine, but they weren't very cold. A friend ordered a Moscow mule and it was served in a glass and not a copper mug. However, I tried a cocktail called the Tango, and it was really good! It was a grapefruit & rosemary drink with tequila and aperol. Next time I come, I'd like to catch the happy hour and try some more appetizers on the menu as well.

Yelp
I've been to Liberty Bar for Brunch many times and have always leaned more on the breakfast side of things when ordering. However this time I decided to switch it up and go for a lunch item - I was not disappointed! We went on a Saturday around 11:30am, which I was surprised to see it wasn't packed. Usually there's a wait of about 45 minutes to an hour and I don't think they take reservations, so if you're planning on heading here for the weekend Brunch, I suggest going at an odd time or plan ahead to wait. I ordered the Portobello Sandwich, it was so delicious with the gruyere cheese on sourdough bread, and the sauerkraut added so much flavor I was blown away by! Not to mention they have the best fries! No matter what you order here hands down will be good, I highly recommend!

Yelp
Seeking comfort food and going through my mental rolodex, I recalled an old favorite that I hadn't visited in a while so off to Liberty Bar I go. With all the downtown road construction I had to take a few detours so plan accordingly. For first time patrons, if you enter in through the front entrance there is a large staircase you will have to take to get to the upstairs' tables/bar but on the side of the building there is a ground level elevator that you can take to the second floor. It will open to the upstairs bar where you can enjoy a drink or head the hostess stand and check-in. After being seated, I review the menu and decide to start off with a Rye Old Fashion (and they ask you what Rye to use and show you what they have in stock), house made breadbasket, and the meatballs. For my main course, I order the Fettuccini Alfredo w/shrimp added. My drink and the appetizers came out quickly so let's go. My Old Fashion was well-made with the correct amount of bitters and simple syrup along with an orange rind, luxardo cherry and large rock. Perfect! The meatball appetizer consisted of four pork-based balls that were served in a light marinara sauce. There were cooked well but the marinara could have used more seasoning to give it kick. The breadbasket consisted of their house made sourdough that was slightly toasted/charred on the grill that came with rosemary butter. The butter was a nice touch and the bread was nicely toasted. Lastly, I decide to have dessert and go and old favorite, their buttermilk chess pie w/Mexican chocolate ice cream. I don't normally order buttermilk pie but I have tried theirs's before and it's a winner. It has a nice custurdy texture that is delicious and the Mexican chocolate ice cream just took it over the top. Well played LB! Overall, I don't know why it took so long for me to come back but I'll be back soon to catch up on some old favorites and new features, you should too!

Yelp
I love the exterior of this pastel pink building, with equally cool interior decor. The food is a bit on the pricier side, given the quantity and quality, but it is yummy nonetheless. I got the Puntas Norteñas, which is indeed spicy (but not overly so). To be honest, it is not worth the $23 price tag by any means, but the flavors were good and the ingredients tasted fresh. Service was great, and the food came out quickly. Not sure if I'd come here for dinner again, but I definitely want to try their brunch at some point.
google avatar

Nancy G.

Yelp
I like that this place has its own parking lot; always a plus when downtown. The interior is unique with a good blend of old and stylish furnishings. Good vibe inside with appropriate noise levels for conversing. Service is great! You're warmly greeted upon entering and we had no wait time. They have happy hour from 3 to 6 daily! On Thursday they have 1/2 price margaritas. The menu is extensive for any picky eater. There's so much to choose from. I finally settled on the handmade fettuccine with olive oil, thyme, and garlic. It was delicious! Very light and flavorful. We had ordered the calamari. It was rather bland; not what I would have expected for $17. Everything else was good and that made up for it. I want to come back and try their salmon encilantrado
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
Great neighborhood hang. Always someone interesting to talk to at the bar. Yummy homemade food with a lot of variety and choice on the menu. I went for the salmon and a nice Pinot noir- delicious. Another favorite is the grilled vegetable platter. Perfect for sharing.

Yelp
Was not going to leave a review. But thought others should be aware. Went here Sunday morning for 2 bloody marys with the wife. We are always on the hunt for the best B-marys around the area we may be at. Well , they weren't the best, but far from the worse. What makes me write the review, is that the bartender took it up on himself to add an additional 20 dollar tip on top of the bill and tip I gave him. That's theft. I'm not going to waste my time disputing the transaction with my CC company. Just thought everyone should be aware of this... 2 Bloody Marys bill that morning was 48.64. lol, I don't even get charged that in Las Vegas.... Beware

Yelp
Interesting place with a lot of history. In town for the Demo Show so a group of 5 needed food. The Liberty Bar was close to our hotel so opted for it. Service was good and attentive. The history of the place was amazing. Beers on tap were limited and no Stout or dark beers. (It is March and there is a significant dark beer drinking holiday coming up.)a couple of us had the Salmon which was very tasty. The green pesto style sauce was great. One had the margarita pizza and it was rated as OK. One had the chicken which he stated was great and one had the pasta which he said tasted good but the sauce was too thin. Overall a great experience and if in the area again will come back.
google avatar

Cassandra R.

Yelp
Popped in for a margarita on a early Friday afternoon. Cute spot - vintage chic vibe with a great bar and decent table seating area. I was quickly greeted and served - the margarita was great! Not too sweet and just strong enough. I didn't end up getting food but the dishes that did come out looked great! Would definitely recommend, especially if you're in the neighborhood already!
google avatar

Deborah B.

Yelp
Come early if you don't like it loud! Only open Th-weekend (Sunday maybe), with HH 5-6 and 10-midnight in Thursdays. $4 margaritas, $6 classic cocktails, and not expensive cocktails in general. Make a reservation to be guaranteed a table, upstairs. We had the renowned goat cheese appetizer, with an appealing brown sugar gravy, with outstanding house-made bread. Matzo ball soup (super delish and dilly), and the basil pesto fettuccine. And we ordered lime chess pie to go! (They also had the traditional buttermilk version and quite a few other desserts.)
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
Cute place on an old church building. Walk up the stairs to the kitchen and bar. The bartender actually makes up some of their own drinks, I liked that. We shared a pizza with drinks and it was perfect for midday drinks.
google avatar

Ralph B.

Yelp
This was a fairly large family group and the server did an excellent job. I like the setting and the history. Just an interesting restaurant. We started with two appetizers for the table, QUESO DE CABRA CON PILONCILLO and PEDRO'S FRIED CHICKPEAS. The Queso De Cabra was particularly good and I highly recommend. The Chickpeas were average compared to others I have had in the past. Across the table, there were several burgers and all liked them. My review will focus though on the two entrees that my wife and I ha. We had the Shrimp Tacos and the Puntas Nortenas. Both of them were excellent and flavorful. But they were also both what I would consider small portions for the prices, particularly the Puntas Nortenas. I am not someone who wants giant American size portions, but I do expect value for the money, and did not find that with these. Restaurant is worth a visit, but will not likely return.
google avatar

Rich L.

Yelp
This was my second time coming to liberty bar; the first time I went I ordered a drink and appetizer. The second time I came I ordered a Margherita Pizza and it did not disappoint. I was seated immediately in the bar area and greeted by multiple staff members. They give you a glass of ice and a carafe of water when seated. Tye menu looks pretty good and there's a plethora items to choose from. The wait time for the pizza wasn't that long and service was great. I can't wait to go back. Peace

Yelp
Love love love Liberty bar!! This place is a staple in San Antonio and can always be counted on for fantastic food and drinks. I am not a San Antonio native, but when I moved here a decade ago it was not only one of the first places I tried piloncillo. Their goat cheese and piloncillo is TO DIE FOR. Literally. So glad they've never removed this dish, and every time I return it's an absolute pleasure! Friendly people, and good prices.

Paul G.

Yelp
Have been a regular since they were in the original crooked building. Always great, until today. In the King William location for lunch..... a nice selection of the specials,, except they aren't...$38 for a palm sized steak with a small scoop of potatoes.....are you kidding me...on the "lunch specials" paper flyer, but NOT a special. I won't be back, and it kills me because the coconut custard dessert is sinful. My wife had the chili relleno, $17 a la carte, but not quite there. I hate it when a neighborhood favorite loses they're way.
google avatar

Marcos D.

Yelp
We came as a large group and were told there was no room at the Inn. A Caucasian member of our entourage arrived late and called us back - he had got us all in! After we we all told emphatically and repeatedly no. It became a running joke during the night, bar hopping while Mexican. I hope it was his advanced powers of persuasion not his lack of melanin. Great service, and cheap drinks overcame a really average pizza.
google avatar

Lina S.

Yelp
Came with my husband about a week or more ago. Always thought the building looked cool and wanted to try it. Even better they serve food we thought it was just a bar. I ordered the lamb burger. I've had other lamb burgers, and definitely, this wasn't on the better end of lamb burgers. The French fries were great. Had a cup of shrimp bisque soup. I've had lobster bisque, and let's just say it should stay that way. Husband had the chilequiles he ate all of his because he was really hungry but he said it was okay. He didn't care or the verde salsa and only had one plastic cup to put on it. There were garbanzos and other kinds of non-traditional ingredients. For it being a bar, the cocktail menu was pretty limited. Atmosphere was nice didn't care that you have the walk straight upstairs to the hostess booth just to have to walk straight down again, kind of redundant. Our server was nice. I think this might be a one and done experience.

Laura C.

Yelp
Great Fathers Day Brunch! Everything was nice - service, atmosphere, food. No wait.
google avatar

Renee J.

Yelp
This was my first time eating at the Liberty Bar and we went for brunch. The variety of the menu was good so I had a hard time choosing what to order. I chose the chicken salad sandwich and I was not disappointed by the taste or serving size. Delicious and flavorful homemade chicken salad with large chunks of chicken on grilled bread. I loved how the bread was crunchy on the outside but still tender in the middle. The breakfast plates that came out looked appetizing as well with very generous portions. The servers all seemed knowledgeable about their offerings and very friendly. The building is also so interesting and eclectic nestled in Southtown. It was previously a convent I believe so the wood work and floors have been restored. The bar is gorgeous and they even use some of the benches that I presume came with the building. I want to go back for dinner now!
google avatar

Ruben P.

Yelp
I am heartbroken, my magic salad is no longer being made!! Oh, how I miss thee! My glorious magic salad!Everything was great except this, seeing as how this was why I went. We ordered calamari, the goat cheese, and the Argentina salad. Also no more bread and butter when seated. How I miss the crooked house Liberty Bar on Broadway. Service was good. Also, no more free parking across the street.

Yelp
I mean... what is there not to love?? The food, the drinks, the service, the architecture and artwork. It's just my favorite.
google avatar

Ambar A.

Yelp
I had the brunch at Liberty bar, their food was really good. The place had good vibes, and they had good service. I just wasn't impressed with their coffee, it was a little bitter.

Yelp
"Liberty Bar in San Antonio offers an incredible experience. Jabier's exceptional service elevated our visit. Can't wait to return for more!"
google avatar

Keisha S.

Yelp
Pretty lousy dinner and experience! The waiter and the food were not the best. Best appetizers ever, however the entrees were a disaster! Unfortunately, will not be going back anytime soon! Table of 8 work party - the entrees came out two at a time. The waiter said it was to help the kitchen not get overwhelmed. But what happened instead the first two people got meal and by the time last two came out more than half of us were done. Not fun eating in front of people waiting on their food. super lame experience. Also a few of us were not very impress with the entrees personally my burger was dry and hard as a rock. Alcohol was ordered but not delivered timely to the point we wanted more but he never came back to get more orders. The appetizer save the evening but I can say we will running back anytime soon.
google avatar

Kimberly G.

Yelp
Interesting menu. Good food prepared well from quality ingredients. Great service. The coconut cake is exceptional.
google avatar

Amanda J.

Yelp
If I could give it 10 stars I would! Reservations highly recommended. Happy hour from 5-6p daily. Staff was amazing. A must visit spot! I was to excited about my food and ate it before taking a picture of it! We did try the goat cheese appetizer that was out of this world!!
google avatar

Tokeisha S.

Yelp
Went on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised at the uniqueness of the dining area. The food was really good as well. I had the chicken salad sandwich, portions are very large and the flavor was powerful. My spouse had the lamb burger and said it was very flavorable. We will be back.
google avatar

Macy H.

Yelp
Yum! What a great place! The food came out fast, was delicious, but smaller portions than the price range led me to believe. Service is amazing. They are so attentive and prompt. Like. Scary fast. Cool ambiance. Central location. If you want a place to go and eat good food, drink good drinks, and spill the tea, it's here.
google avatar

Miriam G.

Yelp
We stopped here for drinks because they were one of the few places that were open before noon. The staff was very friendly and the place was inviting. I had the sangria and my husband just had white wine but they had a nice list of cocktails as well. I'm only giving 4 stars becuase I only had an appetizer but the appetizer definitely gets 5 STARS! They said it was one of their house specialties. Goat cheese in a chili pepper and piloncillo sauce. Very original and absolutely delicious! I love to cook and the woman in the kitchen was even kind enough to tell me how to make the sauce. If we come back to San Antonio, we will certainly try some more things on their menu. Prices were also very fair.
google avatar

Mario E.

Yelp
This is probably one of my favorite places to go in King William, and I always bring friends and family here. What a beautiful, kind staff they are. Def work hard, hard workers. Their drinks are so good, but if you want something amazing, get the GOAT CHEESE, it's the bomb. like tots! You'll want to come back esp for that over and over and over. I enjoy sitting upstairs, seems more friendly and loungy, compared to downstairs or outside. Don't miss out on this place if you walk by.

Cade B.

Yelp
A place I visit very frequently and have never had a wait even without a reservation! The Queso De Cabra is a staple as well as the Lamb Burger! The best Aperol Spritz I've ever had in America!
google avatar

Teofila R.

Yelp
We got seated immediately at an outside table in front of the restaurant. Nice patio table with sun umbrellas providing shade. We ordered the chicken tostadas. Delicious ! Fresh avocado slices on top! Fresh salsa just ask for it! Great waitress Cabernet Sauvignon $8!

Evie R.

Yelp
Javier was great and very patient with our indecisiveness! Great food, old fashions, ambience and service!!!

Yelp
Food was great. Service was terrible. Not busy at all on Monday night. I would highly recommend server Vanessa to get another job. Had to keep getting up to get her attention for my party.
