Pros-Totally cozy and social neighborhood cafe! We have been here many times, and LH never dissapoints. Whether its summer time, fall , spring or mid winter, inside or out seating options, always thoughtful and tasty menu items, great hot coffee or tea drinks. AOI-seating inside can be limited so plan accordingly , outside seating is abundant. wait times can be a little long , and hot drinks can taste a little rushed due to it being a popular place :) . LH is never a disappointment, and a great place for a lovely conversation over coffee & tea :)

Very possibly my favorite Asheville coffee shop. Outstanding creative drink specials, well-pulled espresso. Sometimes oat milk lattes can be too, well, “oaty,” but not here! Staff is super friendly and takes care to remember their regulars and semi-regulars. The menu always features specials and many items rotate daily and monthly. My only complaint is that they are so popular that there can be a lengthy wait at times. There is a line formed every single morning before they even open the door. Because of this the kitchen can start to run behind and has occasionally lost track of my order. That being said, they are all so sweet and you can tell they are operating at capacity and doing their best to keep up with the rush—I can forgive a lot when the food and drinks are just that good. Delicious items I’ve had and would recommend: - The burger here was an unexpected delight, well balanced, flavorful, not too tall or sloppy, not dry. Quality all the way around. - The pancake is like no other pancake I’ve ever had. Very unique, very tasty. - The croque madame is very classic and exactly what you want out of that dish. - The mole grit bowl is packed with flavor. Butternut squash soup is very cozy and comforting. Favorite Pastries - the raspberry croissant is properly flaky, a high quality laminated dough -salted caramel swirl is highly unique, super sweet though, these are great for sharing

This place is busy and for good reason! The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is so relaxed and charming. Worth the wait in line! My chocolate malt cold brew and farmhouse skillet were both excellent and my husband liked his BLAT. We enjoyed sitting on the patio and seeing the garden and various planters.

Great food and drink selection. We both got the skillet breakfast and loved it. They serve breakfast/brunch until 3pm!! Easy to find in a big city but not so easy for a smaller city. So this I appreciate! What is so wrong about having egg related things at 2pm?! 😂 Nevertheless, this place is so cute, with a sprawling outdoor grassy patio. Dog and kid friendly. There’s also indoor space and a separate patio to the side if you prefer a little more quiet.

Good food and coffee. The patio seems nice and has a couple of heaters, but they are pretty weak. It would helpful either if they were stronger, better placed, or if the patio had some kind of plastic mobile barrier for the cold months because it does get windy here. Because of limited seating, making the patio more comfortable would go a long way for this business.

Everything you've read about the sourdough pancake is true. Actually, it might not be possible to describe the experience in detail that'll do justice to this perfect concoction. I would consider leaving Florida and moving to Asheville just to be able to visit Liberty House on a regular basis. The cafe itself is small but cozy, and has an excellent outdoor area. It was way too cold to sit outside during our visit but seats opened up quickly in the indoor area. The staff was awesome, they love their job and do it well. The coffee was strong, flavorful and hit the spot. Can they freeze and ship a batch of the sourdough pancakes to me in Florida? No seriously, let's work on making this a possibility, PLEASE!

I visited here twice when I was in town. When your friend says their blueberry sourdough pancakes would be her "death meal", you make a point to try it! The service was friendly and welcoming. I asked if their chai was pre-made and they said it was, but it was from a local tea brewer, not boxed from the store. I also asked if it was pre-sweetened, which it was... And normally I would not have a chai that is from concentrate especially when presweetened; but, the staff told me it was more spicy than sweet and I'm glad I ordered it. It was a very flavorful and not too sweet chai. I also ordered the sourdough pancake. It was cooked in a cast iron pan and crispy on the exterior... Very different and intriguing! It was cooked with fresh blueberries in it and it was topped with some sea salt and butter with a side of real maple syrup. I enjoyed the flavor and the crispness of the pancake. However, since it was cooked in the cast iron in butter, it was a bit too buttery for me even with taking off the cut of butter that came on top. (Note: I typically do not put any butter on pancakes.) Also, parts of it were still a little doughy for me. All in all though, I liked that it was a very different pancake than I've ever had before and I would eat it again. They offer indoor and outside seating as well as take out.

This place is known for its pancakes and I kid you not these are just the best pancakes I've ever had... seriously. Their sourdough pancake is just the best and is fluffy in the inside and crispy on the outside. Pair that with their maple syrup and you're sent to heaven pretty quick. They also have a roasted duck dish on a cast iron that tastes extremely good and PRO TIP is to add a little maple on the duck and you're GOLDEN!!! one of the best brunches I've had recently. The outside area is also filled with families, dogs and couples. It has a nice atmosphere and is great on a sunny day. Super dog friendly and enjoyed the heaters as well. Half the service is self service as they deliver it to you but you clean up after yourself and place it in the bucket when you're done eating.

Super sweet people in a super sweet location. I love that it's very cozy. Even though it was winter, it was warm enough to sit outside. They have a nice little back area. All of the baked goods look delicious. I especially love the little tart with berries on top. There's cinnamon rolls great. My only regret is that I never had a pancake because I know they're famous for them. I got some cold brew which is unlike me, but it was a very welcome and delicious surprise. All of the staff was incredibly friendly. I like that there were plenty of dogs on the porch too.

I arrived from out of town, in need a jolt of caffeine + some food, and some fresh air. This spot hit the trifecta. When I first went in and saw indoor seating capacity at, like, 12, I was a bit worried. However, they have a huge outdoor area that has heaters and ample seating for the time of day I visited. Not only ample seating, but great vibes with friendly folks, and even a neighborhood chicken pecking around for scraps. I ordered a simple black coffee that was good, if not a tad light on flavor. My mind was telling me to get the avocado toast and eggs, but I saw a picture of their sourdough pancake and and my stomach took over all decision making. This thing was insane -- fluffy and light on the inside, borderline fried in butter on the outside, with fresh blueberries bursting within. YUM. It's almost hard to have memorable pancakes but this one was, and was up there with one I had on Bar Harbor Island in Maine for top tier. The only knock was that I was eager to get some work done but alas, they don't have WiFi. I could've probably researched better, but I was a bit bleary and ready to just find a spot. All in all, I would recommend this and I'm so glad to have found it.

A friend that lives locally recommended the spot to us and it did not disappoint. They didn't have a wait list per se but you wait in a line at the front door and are seated as tables become available. I personally enjoyed looking at their plants and vegetables planted out front while we waited. We ordered a scone to munch on while we waited since we had coffee earlier and our tummies were rumbling. My husband ordered the quiche and toast and I had avocado toast and ordered a side of bacon. Anytime I can order bacon and not have to cook it myself as a win! The food was simple but very tasty. Great service and just a nice vibe overall. Which has to sit in door to enjoy the air conditioning since we would be outside the rest of the day but there was seating outside and inside and readily available.

This location definitely has a following as the doors never stopped after we came in around 11 AM on a Saturday. Located right next-door to Asheville's yoga center. This location offers multiple brunch and breakfast style options. There is a lot of outdoor seating so perfect place to enjoy the beautiful weather and also bring your pet along. My husband got the buttermilk pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and a side of bacon with coffee. The coffee is strong but easily tempered with some cream and sugar. The pancake is burleed with beautiful, blueberries, giving it a crunch, but a sweetness when you take a bite. The eggs we asked to be hard scrambled and they did a great job with not burning them. Usually when we order scrambled eggs hard they come back burnt. These were perfect! We also opted to add cheese to our scrambled eggs as well. Bacon was good as well - a little thin. A side order of bacon only comes with two pieces. I opted for the quiche, which comes served like a pie slice very thick with beautiful tomatoes, and a nice crust on the top. It also comes with a small side salad with a light vinaigrette dressing, which was very tasty.

If open air, free spirited hippie-esque places are your vibe...you'll want to groove on down to this establishment. Apparently I was the only person in the place who did not get a cafe of some sort...but I will add that to my return visits which I suspect will be plenty. I give high, high marks to the Cobb Salad with a special ranch dressing I can't remember right now but I could drink by the tub. I have a scone to go so I'll report on that later but as for the fresh ok, Cobb salad and back porch Simon are enough for me to bookmark this in my local spots list and return plenty in the months ahead.

My friend brought me here when I visited North Carolina. The cafe is small with a charming interior. From the outside, it looks like a house. I imagine they're always busy. I felt fortunate we found a seat without any problem. Expect coffee and brunch type of food. My friend raved about the sourdough pancake so much that I didn't even think twice about what to get. And guys, it might be the best pancake I have ever had in my life. Imagine sourdough bread and bread pudding have a baby in the form of a pancake. This is the masterpiece that came out of it. It's only one pancake, but it's big enough to fill you up. Spread the butter evenly before cutting through it. The pancake has a nice crispy outer layer, reminding me of a crispy toasted sourdough. However, the inner was very fluffy and moist, just like the bread pudding texture. You can actually taste the sourdough batter if that makes sense. The pancake itself was not too sweet, so I didn't feel sick as I basked it in a generous amount of maple syrup--a unique, fantastic brunch experience. I had a side of sausage, which was far smaller than I expected, but it was fine as the pancake was big enough. I might feel sick if the side was too big anyway. Good coffee! Not too strong, which was good because I didn't want to have palpitations.

I come here every visit to Asheville. My favorite breakfast spot! The food is great quality and so delicious. The service is great, you order at the counter and they bring it to your seat so it's just the right amount of casual. The outdoor seating is great in the summer but they also have a few indoor tables too for when it's really cold. There is some street parking but get there first thing to make sure you can find parking.

Freshest brunch I've ever had Honestly couldn't believe how good this place was. they redefined the word fresh for me. we went for the avocado toast and the breakfast skillet. the avo toast was perfectly made with loads of avocado and a gently spring salad on the side. the skillet, however, was the star. came out pipping hot with brussel sprouts, broccoli, carrots, and avocado over a bed of quinoa. two sunny side eggs on top. fresh, light, yet tasty - perfect way to start my day.

My friend and I were visiting Asheville for a couple days and this place looked super cute so we gave it a try! Overall I'd say it's a 5/5 stars for vibes but 3/5 stars for food. There's ample parking and lovely outdoor seating with beautiful gardens. Staff were nice and food came out quickly. I got the pancakes which were interestingly made in a skillet- they were ok but the taste was a little odd. My friend is vegan and there weren't many options for her but she got the avocado toast. Fun vibes but ok food.

This was our first time to Liberty House Coffee. It's yet another restaurant in Asheville where you order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table, which seems to be how many are operated. My hubby and I shared the farmhouse skillet and the sourdough pancake. The food was delicious! However, the drip coffee was just awful, and I couldn't drink it. It had a strange flavor, almost making me think the cream had soured. But my hobby's black coffee didn't taste any better. For a restaurant with "coffee" in the name, I would've thought they'd get it right. Disappointing.

Loved this outdoor seating. I wish i had ordered something different. My chicken biscuit was ok, quite dry which is disappointing after waiting in the long line. My sisters overnight oats was good and full of great fruit. Coffee was nice but $3 for a small mug is questionable. I would order one of the pastries next time. Apparently the gluten free bread they make is wonderful if you need that for your diet!

Liberty House is one of my favorites for breakfast in Asheville! It's tucked away in the cutest old house away from the busiest part of downtown which makes for the perfect place to sip a latte or eat brunch. Their menu is small but that's because everything is given time and care. I typically go for their quiche which is a thick slice of egg custard with their seasonal weekly ingredients. It's usually served with a side salad which makes for a super light brunch. Enter - homemade pop tarts just in case the quiche isn't what you're looking for! Trust me, these pastries but your childhood memories to shame!

I have been eating here since they opened. Generally great food and pleasant staff. Today there was a hair in my salad. I brought it back up front and was treated rudely. Asked if I wanted another salad but I declined as I lost my appetite for salad at that point. No apology, just attitude. No offer of partial refund. Offered a danish but they were out. Basically rude and unaccommodating to regular customer; especially the manager. Never will go back. I am not sure of their sanitation score.

If you are looking for coffee and great food, go visit! They do usually a line, but it moves quickly. The espresso tonic is my fav! You also cant go wrong with their great menu. Lots of outdoor seating-but not much indoors.

This is quite a lovely cafe, with multiple indoor and outdoor seating areas with wood accents. The menu left a little something to be desired, with the pancake I showed up for being unavailable (it was early in the day, so it's not like an end of the day thing). The menu offered few suitable replacements, with limited options for those of us who don't eat eggs. I tend to emphasize this more in Asheville because I'm hardly the only person in this town with special dietary considerations. I ended up with a salad, and don't get me wrong, I'm all for salads. It was a decent salad, but wasn't that impressive for the price in terms of variety or size, and only meat add-ons were offered. I also got a horchata latte, which I guess I didn't anticipate would be coffee with a horchata flavor. I don't blame them for that though (second time I've tricked myself into ordering an unorthodox coffee beverage in Asheville), and though I am typically a tea drinker, not a coffee drinker, this was a pretty good beverage. I could imagine them having better offerings on another day, but my experience was that the food options cost too much and delivered too little despite the place's charm. Also compounding things was a lack of an updated online menu.

Nice small food menu to fit multiple breakfast palettes... traditional eggs and bacon, steak and eggs, avocado toast, quiche, morning oats, pastries and pancakes. Great coffee. You order at the register and hunt for seating. Not a good place for large groups.

I have lived in the Asheville area since 2013 and I never heard of this place until a couple of friends suggested it for lunch for the 3 of us. So glad to have gone. It is a great find just off busy Merrimon Ave. in N. Asheville, tucked away on a side street- it has a lovely covered porch as well as picnic tables all around. Dogs welcome! I had a BLT & Avocado (or the B.L.A.T. as they call it) was hearty and scrumptious on home baked bread. The bison burger is phenomenal and the daily pastries are second to none. Can't wait to take all my other friends who didn't know this place existed!!

We came across this restaurant while exploring the area a little north of downtown. It's a very cute restaurant tucked away in a residential area. There was a bit of a line since you order at the front and the seat yourself, but it went very quickly. I got the avocado toast and added some sliced tomatoes and matcha. My boyfriend got the Monte Cristo. The matcha was perfect and avocado toast was very good as well. He wasn't as happy with his and said it was more like French toast than the sandwich they described it as. If we come back, we may try the burrito because that looked very popular. The menu changes regularly, however, by looking at other Yelper's photos, it all looks pretty good! If you come, don't sit inside or on the patio on the right. Try to score a table in the courtyard. It is very cute and they had a jazz band playing. Overall made for a great Sunday breakfast!

I've been in love with this place as long as they have been open. Even with the change of ownership early in the pandemic they have an amazing staff and figured out very quickly a safe way to stay open and serve some of the best Asheville has to offer. Whether it's breakfast lunch or somewhere in between I've only had great everything here. The bacon is a sugar glazed style that magically comes the right balance of crisp and chew. The coffee and matcha drinks are outstanding and usually not too sweet. My top recommendations are the mocha (best in town), the pancake (unique but classic), brunch burger is a fabulous calorie bomb (worth it). Earl grey pound cake and the chess pies get an honorable mention if you see them grab a slice it will be heavens guaranteed.

We visited Liberty House for a coffee stop on our trip to Asheville at New Years. The weather was rainy and very cold, and indoor seating was not open due to covid. But they have plenty of outdoor seating on their patio and in their courtyard (which is really cute!), and they had heaters going to make seating outside comfortable. I really appreciated how they were handling covid restrictions. All of our drinks were very tasty (and warm on a cold day)! My husband had a vanilla latte, and I had the chai latte (my fav drink). They also offer breakfast during the week & brunch on the weekends, which I wish we could have tried. The menu looked great - especially the liberty breakfast sandwich. Someone try that for me :) This is one of those coffee shops that I would definitely frequent if I lived in Asheville! And I'll be back on our next trip.

WOW! We found this place on our first morning in Asheville. Then we had breakfast here the next three days we were in town. It was that good! The coffee was perfect. And my favorite drink, London Fog, was perfectly made! All the food is delicious! The hand pies were a perfect combo of filling to crust. The sandwich's delicious. And the star is the sourdough pancake. It cooked in a cast iron skillet. Crispy outside. Fluffy inside. You have to try it!!!!! Great venue. Friendly staff. This is a must stop!

I love breakfast food, my husband doesn't so it's like pulling teeth sometimes to get him to get up and go out to breakfast but after his first bite of their Sourdough Pancakes he was a fast customer. It's amazing with a crispy outside and soft, fluffy inside. They also excel at their pastries and have fresh juice and lattes and so far have had very nice staff! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is as follows: It's on a very small but but high traffic street (common to Asheville) & it's not easy to get to it or parking close by when they are busy. Secondly, they turn off online ordering necessitating in-person ordering which inevitably leads to worse lines and less safety in the face of the pandemic, however all places in Asheville are currently requiring masks and they have helpfully placed extra masks for patrons outside the front door.

Liberty House is a shining example of what a coffee shop should be. The coffee drinks are not only delicious, but also gorgeous. The setting is welcoming and homey. And the food is healthy, of high quality, and beautifully presented. And that's all I have to say about that.

Really really great everything--love this place. Only complaint would be the bullying to make you tip 20 or 25 or even 30% at the register. Are you kidding? Stand in line to place order, get your own water, bus your own table. Nobody to check back if you need anything and..... if you want to add to your order, get back in line. And you still want the same tip a full service restaurant would deserve for doing those things ? No way. 5% or 10% is appropriate. Don't cave in to this tip bullying.

Liberty House Coffee and Cafe is a neighborhood gem. We came here at the recommendation of our Airbnb host and because it was walking distance from our rental. It has a cozy and welcoming vibe. We visited twice during our stay, once to get coffee to go and once to eat. The coffee was delicious and made to order. For food, my husband ordered the sourdough pancakes and I ordered the breakfast plate. The food was delicious; everything was fresh and well made. The pancakes, bomb! Friendly staff and welcoming environment. Welcoming of families and four legged friends. Highly recommend.

Hubby and I stopped here for brunch before our 1st day in Asheville. Done in area was closed but outdoor dining on their patio was open. We initially thought it was a sit down but we went ahead and ordered our food first. There was a little line but we welcomed this since it gave us time to look through the menu. I opted for a Vietnamese cold brew and their brunch special a shrimp roll. Hubby ordered the barista special, an espresso with tonic and lemon simple syrup and an avocado toast. My shrimp roll was amazing!! The shrimp were absolutely the freshest l! Their celery and Mayo blend was to die for! The roll was perfectly warm and buttered. The Vietnamese coffee was perfectly mixed with mocha and espresso. Hubby's avocado toast looked good. I noticed the egg was cooked perfectly atop the toast. The break of the runny egg was beautiful. It must have been he devoured it. We ended up taking some goodies with us on the road: blueberry maple scone, chocolate croissant and a jar of local honey. Everything was wonderful here. I dreamt of their shrimp roll it was soooo good!! Heads up!.. they're a little pricey. $65 for all this. Worth it though.

Wow!! What else is there to say! We stopped here for lunch (based on our location where we were staying and the reviews), and we were so glad we did. There was a bit of a wait (not too long, as you order at the counter and then sit down and they bring you your food), and it was well worth it! The hubby had the 2 eggs breakfast and he really enjoyed it. I got the BLAT (make sure you add an over easy egg!), and we both agreed that it was the best one we have ever had (it also comes with a delicious side salad). We have found our new go to when we are in Asheville!

Amazing food. The line was very long when we arrived but moved very fast. There were maybe 20 people ahead of us when we arrived. We were able to order in 15 minutes tops and our food was out in 5-10 minutes. It was totally worth it. The Avocado toast with an over easy egg was great. The quiche was flavorful. But the skillet pancake? To die for. Crunchy on the outside. Gooey in the middle. Perfect. Would highly recommend for brunch.

I am so grateful for Asheville restaurant workers for being so freaking kind and patient while my parents visited us in town!! The young lady who helped us order and delivered our drinks to us was just above and beyond nice. We couldn't stop talking about how sweet she was! Despite my dad's sometimes-annoying endless questions (lol) she was all smiles and it really warmed my heart. I didn't catch her name but she deserves a bonus! I believe she wore glasses and had some tattoos. The food was just simply great. No complaints here and you can tell they take care with preparing it for you. One cool thing I recommend is the tea latte that my boyfriend got. It was really good and I thought it was unique! The coffee got a thumbs up from me and my parents. And what more could you want out of a place than this?! Enjoy peaceful vibes on their clean, cozy yet spacious outdoor dining area! It's truly heaven. I wish I could afford to eat here every morning lol! Thank you!!!

PROS: Friendly barista who took order for me and gf. Good food. Nice ambiance. CONS: Asked for to-go box at end of meal. Put half of our food in it. Got up from table for a minute to go to bathroom, and bus person threw away to-go box after we had just requested it! When asked what happened to our takeaway food, bus person dismissively said sorry and didn't offer to replace (she was young, seemed inexperienced). So we wrote mgmt a direct email to give them friendly feedback, never heard back. Otherwise would have given 4 to 5 stars if we had gotten a helpful response. With how expensive food is nowadars, and Asheville being soo pricey, we weren't pleased :(

Fresh and fab! Everything we ordered hit the spot, and what beautiful weather we had to sit out and enjoy it all! My son ordered the pancake, which was one of the biggest pancakes we've ever seen and alas, he couldn't finish it, though my husband didn't mind helping out there! The gluten free bread and accompanying jam were simply delicious. To top it off, my latte was a pure work of art. We can't wait to return and try more items on the menu.

Enjoyed a lovely brunch there on a Saturday morning after yoga next door at Asheville Yoga Center. The avocado toast was delicious with just a little bit of pepper flakes to ass some zing. Great spot, can be busy on the weekends.

Great food and service. Small little cafe with limited indoor seating but plenty on the heated porch. We got the pancake, eggs, bacon and two danishes and it was $35. A little pricey but very good food.

Such a cute location. A house with a patio and surrounded by nice landscaping. Definitely lots of healthy breakfast options. I did not care for the sourdough pancake but if you like fermented things, could be for you! The sourdough toast was really good. Also must try the rosemary brown sugar latte!
