We were in Pittsburgh for the Jerry Seinfeld show and walked by this shop when we decided to take a peek inside and see what it was all about. We ended up getting tickets and seeing a really incredible magic show. The magician was amazing and she was very interactive with the audience. We will definitely be back. We loved it!

Google
My wife and I had tickets to a 9:30 PM show at another venue and we roaming, killing time, before that when we found this place. We stopped in and they had seats available in this small theater. We were happy that they did. The show was great. Everyone was very friendly and engaging. The performer did mostly sleight of hand tricks but they were great and she was quite funny. We will be back!

Randomly walked by this place, we were in town for the Packers Steelers game. Had an absolute blast. I've seen magic before but this close-up magic was pretty impressive. You just have to see it for yourself. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Google
We’re out of town visitors looking for a unique and fun night out. Came across Liberty Magic and decided to try it out. It was the BEST MAGIC SHOW I’ve ever seen. We got lucky and got to see Steve Valentine. He took us on an emotional story of his life and life experiences all while performing the most mind boggling magic I’ve ever seen. Truly a remarkable and talented man with so much history to share with the world. His show should be in Vegas and everyone should know his name. Venue was intimate and fun and employees were kind and nice.

Google
Absolutely fantastic little venue. The pre-show staff magician was personable and knowledgeable. The theater is intimate. The back room for the after show was a delightful extra treat. Couldn't recommend Liberty Magic highly enough.

Google
I think this is my favorite venue in the city of Pittsburgh. It's seats at max 70 people. Seeing magician in this intimate space is amazing. I don't know any other place like this space. In the winter they do jazz Tuesdays. Every family should go and see Mr. Messado:s School of Magic. Very inspiring! Again, this is a very intimate place. I absolutely love it!!

Google
One of the best Magic Shows we been to. It was a lot of fun. The performer is right in front of you the entire time and there is not a bad seat. The shows sell out at about 50-60 people, so everyone is pretty close. Get your tickets in advance to make sure it is not sold out. They had free drinks (pop, water, and flavored sparkling water), but it is also BYOB, if you wanted alcohol. Very nice atmosphere. You are surrounded by magic props including a working fortune telling machine. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. Your “ticket” can be a little keepsake. If you upgrade for the VIP, which is not that much, you get to go in the back room for some additional tricks as well as a meet and greet (and our ticket was a key instead of the normal playing card). We would definitely go again. Magicians rotate in and out every month or two (so far), so you can get a different show with new magicians.

Google
Great show last night, featuring Michael Misko. I’ve been to Liberty Magic around a half dozen times now, and I’ve never been disappointed with the shows. Always fun and entertaining, and definitely a unique date night. Can’t wait for the next show.

Yelp
Mother's Day gift from my daughter...quaint theater that featured a 70 minute magic show tonight....great ambience...BYOB....limited seating...reservations needed...

Yelp
Mr. Messado's show today was fantastic! Our five grandchildren were amazed along with my wife and I . I highly recommend Mr Messado not only for great magic but for his great interaction with the audience! FIVE Stars !

Patrick T.

Yelp
Brought my son here for the Mr. Messado show and we had a great time. All the kids in the audience were engaged and he did a good job including them in the show.

Yelp
My husband and I had such a great time seeing Ran D Shine at Liberty Magic. We went a month ago and enjoyed Henry Evans. We thought Ran D Shine was even better. Ran D was such a great storyteller. Everyone really enjoyed all the stories and him explaining how he got into and learned magic. He also got the audience involved in all his magic. I was happy to be involved and do the dice trick. Everyone was amazed by so many cool things that he did that you could see but couldn't explain. He took cards from one girl's pocket and transferred them to a guy's pocket. He made coins disappeared. He took off his thumb cuffs quickly and easily and took a guy's credit card. The people who work there are very nice and welcoming. The guy in the entrance was a good magician too.

Yelp
I've been here at least 3 times now and it's always a good time. Make sure to make a reservation in advance. When you come in, there's usually a magician doing small card tricks as a sort of "opening act". I love it. You can bring alcoholic drinks in for a corkage fee, but they do also offer some waters and sodas. The act we went to recently was so fun. Every time I've gone, there is always some form of audience participation and comedy. The venue also has these really unique programs! I'll be back again for sure.

Yelp
Jon Tao's Road Signs was mesmerizing. Part humor, wisdom, emotional, & pure magic. I literally left the performance speechless. I didn't desire to know how he did it & that keeps the magic alive for me. Tai's storytelling is engaging & phenomenal. I noted a quote of his which says "Maybe to be nothing it's possible to be anything." I found that statement to be profound. We are all connected in someway & Tai showed us how. Great performance w/awesome & willing crowd engagement. Because of Jon Tai....I believe in magic :)

Yelp
We love Liberty Magic. Highly recommend the skeleton key tickets! Such a wonderful experience!

Yelp
Came for the lee terbosic Houdini show and will back for more! Very intimate theater. BYOB. Very neat gift shop. I can't believe it's taken me this long to visit!

Yelp
Went to the magic show last night and saw Henry Evans! It was an amazing experience and I would definitely recommend! The show was very magical, fun, and interactive. The staff working was very nice as well!

Yelp
I've been to liberty magic probably a half dozen times and I have been impressed, entertained, and happy about my choice to attend another magic show. The up close and intimate setting makes it super fun and I have been called upon to help with a trick multiple times. (I don't personally like being a part of the show...but it does make it even more magical! Haha) Always clean and friendly and the shows always have amazing content! I hope to be back many more times! Such a unique and fun experience in Pittsburgh with very talented and mind blowing magicians!

Yelp
This Sunday we attended the family-friendly performance at Liberty Magic - Mr. Messado's School of Magic. I'd love to tell you everything that we learned, but I think you all know the number one rule in magic school.... Here's what I CAN tell you. Liberty Magic is located on Liberty Avenue right next to the Harris Theatre. Just look for the guy hanging upside down by chains. You can't miss it.... Walking in to the building my kids were mesmerized by the magic that surrounded us. Jon Tai, a magician (whose performance at Liberty Magic was amazing BTW) at the front desk, greeted us and instructed us to pull a magic card. The kids took a card and looked around wide-eyed in wonder. This facade of this speakeasy doubles is a magic shop with an abundance of delightful tricks and treasures on every wall. Jon motioned for us to take our seats. In order to get to the theater we had to sneak through the doorway behind the front desk where we ran smack into a fully functioning Zoltar machine. Walking in to the theater, there's not a bad seat in the house as this intimate performance is to an audience of about 60 in 4 rows cuddling the stage. The kids were each given their own composition book to take notes of the lessons they were about to endure over the next hour. Mr. Messado was comedic, highly entertaining, and truly nailed this family-friendly show. Can't wait to see what Liberty Magic pulls out next!

Yelp
I was invited to a show by an Elite Yelper. I was not disappointed at all. The show was entertaining and well received by all. I walk by this place all the time and would have never thought to go inside. I'm glad that I did. It was a great show.

Yelp
We have been to Liberty Magic numerous times (we were season subscribers before the pandemic and afterwards), and just about every time we come here, we see something new, something amazing, something that makes us wonder . . . how did they do that? Usually, there is a warm-up magic act in the lobby as doors open 30 minutes prior to the show, and then the headliner performs. Last night, the amazing Jon Tai warmed us up with some card and coin tricks, and then Mr. Messado took the stage as the Master of Ceremonies, and introduced us to featured performer, Ran'D Shine, performing "Evidence of Things Unseen." Ran'D dazzled us from the get-go with numerous tricks including a deck of cards, some coins, ball and cup, thumb-cuffs, and many more that I don't want to spoil . . . it was a very fun show, and Ran'D was an amazing performer. If you get the chance to attend, you should go, his show runs thru December 30th . . . Cheers!!!

Yelp
Wow! What a magical time! This place is amazing - it's super intimate so there is truly not a bad seat in the house. Hubby and I attended yelp's event last night: Lee Terbosic's In Plain Sleight show. He had the whole place in the palm of his hand. It was a really entertaining show - he's funny and everyone was amazed by his act- he made a table levitate! How I have no idea but it was something to see. This is a theater that was built especially for close up magic shows - we're one of a handful of cities that have that which is really cool. The space is cool and interesting and BYOB (only $5/person drinking corkage fee). We had a great time - a night full of laughs and amazement - thanks Yelp for an awesome time. We'll be coming back for sure to see more acts - apparently they have 6-8 week runs. It's only been open for almost 2 months - I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
What a great evening.. Lee Terbosic is amazing and very talented. Ok I will say it ... "How does he do that!?" He sure knows his magic. I liked the intimate seating and really felt we were part of the show.. then again we kind of were! We will definitely be returning. I haven't stopped talking about the show!!! The Plain Sleight Show by Lee will run for several weeks. Definitely check out the website if you are interested. This show is good for adults (young adults too). Tickets prices aren't that bad either. Liberty Magic is located on Liberty Avenue just blocks away from several great restaurants. Parking garage located just across the street. Its nice that BYOB is offered with a small fee but the time went so fast I wasn't even thinking of drinking.. I was so into the show! Thank you to yelp and Liberty Magic such a "magical" evening! It's very much appreciated.

William L.

Yelp
Always entertaining and skilled artists at Pittsburgh's own Magic venue. A perfect forum for parlor magic. The audience is close to the magician and often invited to participate. You're bound to leave amazed and entertained.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our evening watching Billy Kidd perform her magic tricks! We were on the edges of our seats the whole time! She was very engaging and the audience was similarly engaged. The space is relatively small (4 rows of chairs that sit roughly 30-35 people) but that's super nice considering how close up and intimate everything is. The venue itself is also really nice! The lighting in good, the decorations are fun, it feels clean and the wood accents behind the performer look nice as well. 11/2/19 Update: Been here four more times and it gets better every time! Love this place, the staff, and the whole experience!

Yelp
Awesome Experience!! On a whim my boyfriend and I bought tickets to the Expert at the Card Table with Guy Hollingworth for his opening show at Liberty Magic! The overall experience was wonderful as the atmosphere is very intimate. There is not a bad seat in the house. Our tickets did not have assigned seating so I would recommend arriving early to ensure you get the seats you want. To my knowledge they do not offer a bar or beverages, which was a bit of a let down on our end. Otherwise, this was a fantastic way to spend an evening! The lobby magician was also fantastic and personable- could not recommend this experience enough!

Yelp
Thank you to Pittsburgh Yelp, and Liberty Magic for a fantastic evening! Going to see Mark Toland the "mind reader" was something that was definitely out of my comfort zone. I have never been to any type of magic, or mind reading show and I have to admit that within minutes of being there my mind was seriously BLOWN AWAY! The things that Mark knew, and the way that he worked the audience was something that I have never seen. I was very impressed with everything that he knew. I was also extremely grateful that I wasn't pulled from the audience, but I did love watching everyone else be put on the spot (evil laugh) :) The space itself is small and intimate. The seating is lovely, and the bathrooms were extremely clean. Please note there is a BYOB fee of $5 per person. I loved knowing this in advance, so I could bring my favorite bottle to the show! 5/5 stars, highly recommend Liberty Magic (And especially Mark Toland's Mind Reading Show)
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
I had a great time and experience attending Liberty Magic to see Mark Toland, Magician of the Mind. He was very entertaining, very enthusiastic and extremely impressive. I went in a skeptic but came out not being able to be anything but a believer in whatever ability he possesses (he says that he's not psychic but I BEG TO DIFFER). I really liked this venue as well, it was very intimate which made for a great interactive show. Additionally, it is BYOB!! There's a small corkage fee. The audience demographic was diverse; were retirees, middle aged folk and some young people. I would recommend this as a fun night out on the town to people of all ages.

Yelp
After the downtown improv theater outgrew this location, many of us wondered what would move into the building next. Turns out the answer is a performance space for magicians. (It also turns out Harry Houdini performed for Pittsburgh crowds in 1916, in the general area of the theater. How's that for a relevant historical connection?) Like the other performance spaces in Pittsburgh, the shows at Liberty Magic change on a regular basis. Each act runs for a different length of time, depending on their schedule. I've been to a couple of performances so far, and while they've of course ranged in quality, none of them have been your traditional "rabbit in hat" kind of act. And seeing non-traditional magic tricks is quite refreshing, interesting, and enjoyable. The space itself is pretty intimate. Remember, the last group that used this building outgrew it; and I think that with Liberty Magic's decor and stage set-up, there's even less seating now than there was before. Unlike before, though, the seating rises row by row; this is really nice - no heads should block your view and you can enjoy your show with ease. They advertise themselves as a BYOB speakeasy, by the way, with a $5 per guest corkage fee. And their front entrance is set up with interesting knick-knacks related to their craft. Put together, these factors make for a unique spot and an entertaining night. This is certainly an interesting addition to Pittsburgh, and I'm excited to see more of their performances in the coming months.

Yelp
My grandma bought tickets for her & I to see the show, so I didn't look much into it prior to going. Being completely honest, when she said "magic show" I was expected something a little hokey and lame. Liberty Magic was none of the above! This felt like a very upscale venue that could be great for a date night or even just a trip out with your family. I saw Robert Ramirez (it sounds like different magicians rotate through every few months) and he was amazing! Most of the tricks I had never seen before and he was also an outstanding performer who was really good about interacting with the audience. When you arrive, you stand in a small lobby where a guy is doing card tricks. You're allowed into the small theater about 30 min prior to the show. They provide complimentary sparkling water. The earlier you arrive the better seats you can get, but for the most part every seat is a really good seat because the theater is so small. When the magician does card tricks on a table, the theater has a nice HD video camera that projects the close up magic onto tv screens on the side of the stage-- really easy to see everything that's going on. I can't say enough good things about this place. The venue was VERY cool & the magic was legitimately amazing. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Pittsburgh to check out some other magicians!

Yelp
So much fun for a variety of ages!! Went with my husband when we were on vacation! Would love to go back!

Yelp
Absolutely delightful & entertainment. We saw Lee Terbosic and were stunned by his flawless performance, engaging crowd work AND his laugh-out-loud comedy. Intimate theater, no bad seat in the house. Staff was warm & friendly. BYOB! One of my favorite things to do in Pittsburgh!

Christina S.

Yelp
This place is delightful. I recommend it 100%. I go there a lot. The staff and performers are all really fluid, fun, engaging personalities. I'm a skeptic with magic, and they both fool and entertain me. They have really good acts! Even famous and international magician!! They did a really good job setting up a small place that feels unique, comfortable, and just clever.

Yelp
My husband and I finally got an opportunity to visit this new venue made possible by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. Inside the glass window stands a replica of Harry Houdini's upside down straight jacket trick which he did in Pittsburgh over 100 years ago. The magician we were seeing tonight Lee Terbosic replicated that same trick on Nov. 6, 2016 at the exact same place, time, and exact date when Houdini originated it here. Upon entry there's much to look at and of course various magic books available for purchase. An in house magician talks and chats with any one arriving early and does a few card tricks of his own. I happened to fall victim to one of those tricks and sure enough he found my card! Before you enter the venue itself there is a small arcade style fortune teller much like you'd see at Kennywood which for $1.00 will spew out your fortune. Yes, he even talks! They have a coat room which makes it handy since the seating space is very small-probably 70 in all and there are two video monitors to help capture the action. Cell phone usage is prohibited however, you can turn your phone to vibrate in case Lee decides to call you out. This is exactly what he did with one of the audience members. Lee Terbosic's show called "In Plain Sleight" focuses mostly on cards, illusion, mind reading, comedy and story telling. The place is BYOB for a small corkage fee but small bottled waters and soft drinks were available. You can purchase the regular general admission or the VIP skeleton ticket which enables you to go backstage after the show, ask questions of the magician, participate in a trick or two, and have a photo shoot. During the regular performance Lee chooses anyone at random for his tricks so it really doesn't matter where you sit. If you happen to snag one of the "souvenir" by being a guest participate then he will autograph it for you as a keepsake upon request. Lee also enables his guests watch a video of his famous replica straight jacket routine he did in the city a few years back. He even had a the same picture taken upside down like Harry Houdini did of old which he also showed us. With us having VIP tickets we were able to go into the backroom after the show was over, grab a chair or high top, and learn more about Lee and his background including his Pittsburgh roots. I even got to be part of one of his card trick. It was fun and entertaining. I also got to chat with the owner Graham who explained the concept of the theater and their plan for switching out magicians every 8 weeks or so. He did say that if you should miss artist you are looking forward to seeing in most cases they will return later on in the year for another run. Liberty Magic is PIttsburgh Cultural Trust's latest addition to the arts, Broadway, concerts, and so much more, Reserved seats are a must and because of the popularity they sell out quickly. Staff are very friendly and the tips they receive are used towards an arts education fund. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy what he calls "In plain sleight" the name of Lee's show. Located on Liberty Ave next to the Harris theater a parking garage sits nearby as well as close proximity to the Wood Street T station and as well as public transportation.

Yelp
I've never seen a magic show like this! The venue is quaint, and you might walk right past it, if you weren't looking for it. The staff was great and made us feel welcomed from the moment we walked in. We were also treated to some magic tricks in the lobby, before heading back to the main area, which provides an intimate setting. There were just four rows of seats, so no matter where you were, you had an up close and personal view of the stage and the magician, Lee Terbosic, who was incredible! Each show runs for a couple months, and then they'll bring in another magician. I definitely plan on coming back, as it's a truly unique and fun experience. It's also BYOB, with a $5 corkage fee, and they also provide complimentary pop and water.
google avatar

Kathleen A.

Yelp
Liberty Magic is a really neat space. You can see that all the details of the entrance and "theater/performance" room have been well thought out. I liked that the performance space was intimate but still had a large crowd. I thought Billy the Kidd really interacted with her audience and engaged us for the whole hour. I was not expecting the more theatrical side of it but I haven't been to many magic shows before. The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable about any magic questions. I would return for a future show!

Yelp
Tonight was my first time visiting and did so as part of a Yelp Elite event. The venue has only been open for approximately seven weeks and it's fantastic. Love the setup and decor, it's like walking into an old-time shop. So many great things to look at. We were lucky enough to be invited here to see the world-famous, Pittsburgh-born Lee Terbosic perform. He's the host of the show, Houdini's Last Secrets on Discovery and back in 2016 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Houdini's death-defying trick in Pittsburgh, he re-enacted it. The show tonight was fabulous! He's a wonderful comic and musician and incorporated so many cool things into his act. He is performing an 8 week run and I highly suggest anyone who can checks out the show. Afterward we chatted with him for several minutes and he was gracious enough to take a pic with me. I honestly really dig this venue and can't wait to come back to check out other performers.

Yelp
We went to see Lee Terbosic perform at Liberty Magic last night. First of all, this place is cool. We had walked by it a few weeks ago and peeked in the window, but had know idea what it was about. There were all kinds of magic tricks displayed. Well last night they had a replica of Harry Houdini's upside down straight jacket trick in a glass box. Inside there is a small store front/box office, another small area with refreshments. Behind the theater itself, which only hold about 60 guests, is a private area where guests with a skeleton key are allowed after the performance. There's no bad seat in the house since it's such a small theater. Onto the performance itself.. Lee was great. His show included lots of sleight of hand- we had no idea how he did some of that stuff! He is also a funny, likable Pittsburgh guy who loves magic. Of course there was a little bit of a cheese factor to some of it, but it was all fun. We bought the skeleton key so we could go back into the secret room and meet Lee. But be careful if you do that because you'll be in the front row and almost definitely be involved in a trick!! We can't wait for another reason to go back to Liberty Magic. I'd love if they would have kids shows too.
google avatar

Julie F.

Yelp
Did you know we have a theater dedicated to the art of magic? There only a few in the country and ours is pretty awesome. It is an intimate setting with only 60 or so people in the room. It is BYOB. You will interact with the performaner. You will also be fooled by the artistry. Skeleton key gets you time with the magician for close-up sleight of hand magic. We have been there twice in the eight months this venue has been open. This is still Pittsburgh's best kept secret.

Yelp
This place really is a hidden gem. Between the extremely helpful and friendly staff and the up close and personal feel of the venue, it is a must visit. I recently went with my girlfriend to see Lee Terbosic and it was so much fun. Lee is the host of the Netflix series "Houdinis Last Secrets". He is extremely knowledgeable and funny to say the least. Constantly keeping the crowd laughing and engaged seemed to be a breeze for him. Besides the act, the actual place itself was wonderful, a small entrance and lobby, filled with magic history to indulge in and even buy, opens up into a nice 4 row sitting area facing the "stage". I put stage in quotes because that is the cool thing about this place. There is no actual stage, the magician is performing right in front of you with about 3 feet between him and the first row. This is extremely unique and challenges the magician to really bring out the big guns. For a $5 per person fee it is BYOB, my gf and I brought a bottle of wine and happily sipped on it during the show, definetly a plus! After the show, holders of the "Skeleton Key" (Essentially a VIP package) are allowed to go back into a secret back room with lounge area where the magician will come back and perform for you directly. We will definitely be coming back for more shows!

Yelp
My friend and I went for the first time. it was a small, intimate venue that provided a great space for audience participation. The magic was "Mentalist" focused. If you're unfamiliar with this type of magic, it involves more mental magic than sleight of hand. The performer did a good job of drawing the audience into his story. There was also a behind the scene talk with the performer. Learned some fresh info about magic. I would recommend that you give it a try. It is a unique art form and very interesting to be a participant.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to Liberty Magic last night for the first time and all I can say is WOW! I'd like to thank Yelp for introducing this place to me because it's going to be an amazing thing for the Pittsburgh community. The place itself is small and quaint and when you walk in, there's a very life-like dummy that resembles Harry Houdini's straight jacket escape displayed in the window. I loved that. It looked exactly how I would picture a magic shop to look. Also, the staff was extremely welcoming. They got us checked and explained where to sit and everything. They even have a handy coat room because the theater itself is intimate. It only fits about 60 people but it definitely adds to the experience! Additionally, the place is BYOB and they only charge $5 for a corking a fee which is completely reasonable. As for the show itself, just wow. I was so impressed. This type of up close magic is only available in places like LA and New York. I was happy to find out that Pittsburgh is now included on that small list! Lee Terbosic was fantastic. He is a great entertainer, I was laughing so much throughout the entire show. But, he's an even better magician. I always have my speculation with magic shows and try to watch for clues on how they do it, but this wasn't the case with Lee. I had no idea how he did any of the tricks. Each was so quick and fluid, it was amazing. His involvement with the audience was great too, always including items that people had with them like cell phones and rings. It was truly enjoyable! I highly, highly recommend paying a visit to Liberty Magic and I hope I can return as soon as possible!

Edward O.

Yelp
Small intimate venue with seating for approximately 50 patrons. The magician we saw was also a comedian and he included many from the audience during his act. The only downside for some patrons is they don't serve any refreshments
google avatar

Anokhy D.

Yelp
My friend and I got tickets for a Wednesday night Lee Terbosic show. I'm not a big magic person but am more than willing to volunteer. My friend likes magic but definitely doesn't like to be picked. Obviously, Lee picked up on this vibe and she was on the "stage" halfway through! It was a fun night. Great place for a date or honestly, to bring your mom. There were so many mom's out on the town when we went. It made the night more fun!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I decided to try something different for date night. Not going to lie, felt like an elementary student when I told friends we were seeing a magic show. But it was definitely a worthwhile experience!! The venue is BYOB. Unfortunately for us, we forgot the first "b" and had to quickly find an open beer and wine store to grab a bottle before the show. The lady at the front desk was super helpful and directed us to one that was open later than Fine Wine and Spirits. We made it with plenty of time to spare. The actual 'lobby' area is quite small, so we headed back to the theater rather than take up space. But take some time to check out everything on the walls of the venue. We were offered complimentary waters/ sodas/ sparkling water before hand, and were provided with cups and napkins for our beverage. It's $5 a person for BYOB. The theater itself is very personal. I was worried about feeling uncomfortably close, but Billy Kidd did not let that happen. She was SO interactive. Even though online it said the first row is where the interaction occurs, she was pulling people from the back the front left right, everywhere! It was an amazing performance. One thing I regret is not being more open to volunteering. People walked right up on the stage for part of her act- I loved it! She does great with her audiences. Prepare to genuinely be impressed. I'm a skeptic. I tried REALLY hard to figure out where the 'slip of the hand' was in a lot of tricks. She's good. This place deals with professionals only. Prepare to be amazed.

Yelp
This was a place that I never knew Pittsburgh needed. Elegant, fascinating, intimate, and professional, Liberty Magic is a fantastic new spot by the Cultural Trust that is dedicated to magic. The Lee Terbosic show was fantastic. A perfect night out for the family, date night, or girls's night out. Warning: you may be chosen to interact with the magicians (I was! - much to my chagrin but it was actually pretty funny). When you first walk in, you are in a small front area with various magic-related objects and are shown the way to the theater through a curtain behind the counter. Very exclusive and mysterious feeling! The theater probably hold from 50-70 people so the shows are small and intimate. I got the opportunity to go as part of a Yelp Elite event and was fortunate to be able to do a meet and greet with the performer after the show. Everyone who worked there was extremely nice and helpful and offered you a water or soda. It is also BYOB and maybe people brought their own wine which they could drink during the show which was a nice touch! I would definitely recommend checking it out! They will have different performers throughout the year so you can go to one that you think you will like!

Yelp
This show was fun! Definitely for an adult audience. Be prepared for audience participation! Take some time to look around the front room because there are many cool things there! I definitely recommend the show. We saw Lee Terbosic.

Yelp
Free tickets to see Lee Terbosic on a rainy Wednesday but it was the highlight of my day. His show is amazing, funny, and unreal. Gets the audience involved in a super fun way. Love that he's a yinzer!!! A hometown boy that made it. November 6 will always remind me of him!!! Thank you

Yelp
I decided on a whim to attend a Yelp event here to see Dennis Watkins, and I'm so glad I did! It's been a very very long time since I've seen any magic in person, and it definitely woke up the child in me! The show was flawless. The intimate setting was perfect for close up magic, and all of the interaction with the audience was awesome. All of the employees that I interacted with at Liberty Magic were super nice. It's BYOB for $5 a person, but beware there isn't anywhere you can really set your bottle down except on the floor. I'm really glad that a place like this exists in Pittsburgh!

Yelp
Great place to escape from reality and enter the world of magic! I've passed this theater many times while walking through downtown and never really noticed it--but I'm so glad I walked in for a show one day!! It's a small theater but it makes the magic that much cooler!! Also, audience participation is highly encouraged so don't be surprised if you're called up to the front of the room.

Yelp
What a treat to have a theater dedicated to magic here in downtown Pittsburgh! The shows here are amazing and bring in talent from across the world. I've seen shows about exciting card tricks, illusions, close-up magic and much more. It's like the intense stuff you see on TV but LIVE! Ticket prices are average like for all theater shows. If you get a chance to upgrade to VIP, you'll get to hang out with the magician after the show in the green room. I can't wait to go back to see their shows this season.

Yelp
This was my first time at Liberty Magic and I was not disappointed! This is such a cool space. The lobby is inviting and full of interesting trinkets lining the walls , both to look at and some for sale. Once we checked in for the show we went back to the 4 row theater. It is small but not at all claustrophobic. I loved the backdrop. The shows and performers change. We were able to see Mark Toland mind reader and he was awesome. Honestly a great night out. I look forward to coming again and seeing a different show. Oh and BYOB

Yelp
LEE TERBOSIC! He is talented and puts on a truly great show. Even if you aren't really into magic I think you will enjoy. He is funny and engaging and just a true entertainer. The venue has a lot of great potential. It is on the newer side so they may have some kinks to work out. I will be attending another even there and see how it goes. $5 Corkage fee per person. What a joke! First they said it takes too long so they do not put wrist bands on people. In addition the setup doesn't really allow for them to watch. It's honors system essentially. Also in the back row it is bar stools. This means if you need to refill your glass you need to stand up during the show. You essentially pay $5 for a small plastic cup. My biggest problem with this is that it isn't well explained on the website. I never would have brought good beer if I had known I would be given a plastic cup and not an actual glass. It just doesn't taste right. Plus personally I try to avoid drinking out of plastic. If I had known the situation I probably would have skipped drinking that night or simply grabbed a drink somewhere nearby after the show. At least now I know for the future. Also after the show the magician was nice enough to take a few minutes to talk to fans and take pictures. My boyfriend and I were waiting for this. The usher was cleaning up the main room and apparently needed to get by (we were standing to the side as much as we could). Instead of simply saying "excuse me" she pushed me instead. There is simply no excuse for that behavior from anyone but certainly not from an employee. The venue itself however is very nice. They did a great job setting it up. There are four rows of seats and it is very intimate, making it a neat setting for a show. The front room has some cool magic themed items both on display and for purchase. Hopefully they tweak their BYOB policy. I think this can be a great addition to our wonderful cultural district though.

Yelp
Wow! 2nd visit and even more in love with this venue. I'd rate it 10 stars! This visit was for performance "Lee Terbosic in The Life and Death of Harry Houdini". Lee is a Pittsburgh native and magician who has in depth knowledge of Harry Houdini. The best part of the show? The after show session with the audience. It was priceless, showing us a picture of Houdini performing his straight jacket release act performed not only in our lovely city in 1916 but so very nearby this theater on Liberty Ave outside what is now CVS. Wait! That's not all. The next pic? Of Lee recreating that same act 100 years later in 2016 in the same spot. (How could I not have heard about this when it happened?? I would have loved to have witnessed that firsthand.) But, wait! We, the audience, did get to experience his straight jacket escape act up close and personal. His act had him portraying Houdini in his living room with us, the audience, as his guests. And the venue? Less than 70 seats in 4 rows. That is intimate. And the setting from the front desk to the stage/seating to the restrooms (2 unisex) is filled with a feeling of warmth and is so inviting. This particular act was exquisite, Lee's knowledge of Houdini was in depth and his skills from showmanship to magic act plus his enthusiasm was outstanding, and the staff who checked us in, provided preliminary house magic acts, and assisted Lee during his performance? Lovely. First rate experience!

Yelp
This place brings to light what a speak easy is! From the outside street of liberty viewing the inside one would not think that this is a small theatre inside. You walk in it looks as though you are greeted by a magic shop. You walk through the curtain to see many forms of whimsical childlike magic memorabilia lining the walls along with a working Zoltar machine. Just make sure you don't make a wish to be BIG before the show or you might not fit ,as you turn the corner to be greater by four rows of chairs. Childlike wonder filled me as ushered myself to my seat and saw my name printed on a tag to show where my seat was located! Perfect for close up magic the small venue is definitely intimate experience you will never forget. I will most definitely be coming back again and hope that the cultural trust will keep this venue alive and hopefully grow to offer more and more magicians as well as things other than nightlife for the community and bring back the spark of the child in all of Pittsburgh including children alike.

Yelp
I noticed Liberty Magic during a walk I took on my lunch break recently, and I didn't think I'd have the chance to check it out so soon! Thanks to a Yelp Elite event, my boyfriend and I got to visit Liberty Magic last night to see Lee Terbosic's show, "In Plain Sleight." From the time we walked in, the staff at Liberty Magic was extremely friendly. My boyfriend brought some beers to sip on through the show, and there was a $5 corkage fee. Not bad. I'm 9 months pregnant so the only thing I'm sipping on is water, but it was good to know about the low corkage fee for the future. Some guests brought bottles of wine to enjoy during the show, and to me, that's a great idea! It was also nice that they offered free soft drinks and water to visitors here, too. One of the coolest things about Liberty Magic is that Pittsburgh is one of just a few cities to have a venue of this type. Growing up I loved watching magic tricks on TV and online, but I never thought I'd get to see it live and up close like I did here. The venue doesn't actually have a stage, and the way it's set up kind of reminds me of an intimate theater or comedy venue. My boyfriend and I were seated in the upper right corner and that made it a little hard to see, but for the most part we had a good view of all the action. Lee was super funny and quirky, and it was almost like the show was a combination of a magic show and a comedy show. Both of us had a great time and enjoyed the opportunity Yelp gave us to visit Liberty Magic. I'll be looking forward to seeing what shows are featured here in the future!
