If I lived closer than over an hour's drive, I would be stop by practically every day. Talk about a great vibe! Loved this place and everybody working there and drinking there. Top notch. This is my favorite bar in Bastrop County! Well it's actually my favorite bar, period! I come here often, usually at least once a week. Not only do they have phenomenal live music every week without ever charging a cover charge, (including many world class bands & musicians that when they play elsewhere, have steep cover charges), but at Liberty Tree the music is always free and they typically have live music at least a couple nights a week. They also have great karaoke every Saturday night and they're always welcoming & supportive of newcomers & new karaoke singers. it's a small, authentic Texas bar with cool, vintage decor and great energy. Everyone Ive introduced to Liberty Tree Tavern has loved it. They have a great selection of beer, both in bottles/cans and on tap including some of the local breweries, and a full, well-stocked bar. Great prices, great friendly service, great atmosphere, phenomenal owners and staff, wonderful, friendly, patriotic patrons, and a LOT of regulars. You can happily go there by yourself and there will always be very welcoming, friendly people to chat with. I saw that one reviewer stated that "If you're white you might feel welcome here". I thought that was a funny statement since probably about half of the regulars who I see there on a regular basis, many of whom are good friends of mine, are Hispanic, and I also regularly see lots of other cultures and skin colors represented. Definitely NOT an all-white bar. Not sure where that reviewer got their perspective because it certainly hasn't been mine. LOL And the Julia woman who called it a 'white supremacist bar'?? Lol ... She may want to look up the definition of "projection" ;) Highly recommended bar and friendly hangout place!

Had a great night at a meetup with friends watching Dallas stars hockey and listening to fantastic live music. We had a lot of beer and drinks ordered up throughout the night and the waitress was superb, energetic and friendly. Good selection of local craft beers and prices were very reasonable. Absolutely will be planning future boys nights here…

Just saw Julias review below mine and none of this is true. My fiance is black and I am white lol. We love this bar, all the bartenders, and the owner. Great people

Appears to have no comments lately. So I'll post mine. Attended a private party here that eventually opened to public. Idk how much we drank but I know the bill would have been 3x more if at any bar in Austin. Karaoke was fun. Sports playing on TVs. Good little hole in the wall bar. Based on the comments above - it doesn't seem like most people know what a Hole in the Wall bar is. Loud owner - though didn't witness that night - and smoking. My 12 year old son made an observation when we went to the brand new opening of Waffle House in Pflugerville. Partly through the meal, he said " this food does not taste like waffle house." He continued " The grill is too clean. I want my bacon cooked in grease that's 10 years old. There's not one crumb on the floor. I want to see old toast and an egg on the floor." I agreed. That is a Waffle House and the comments above -- That is a hole in the wall bar.

My mom & I came to this bar this past Saturday (12/16/23)... WE HAD THE BEST TIME. The bartenders that were there were Kevin & Jennifer, we love them. My mother & I were dancing & singing it was definitely a night to remember. All these twelve years we have lived here we have never went to this bar & I am glad we did. Great locals. & the peanuts were hitting the spot after a couple of shots.

I so wanted to like this place given it's THE only bar in downtown Elgin... All the locals go here which I definitely appreciate. Karaoke every week is definitely a plus and always makes for a good time. Also, the setup is pretty cute. Love those long narrow bars in old buildings. Makes me think of New England! Here it is... IT'S THE SMOKING. I can barely breathe inside and found myself going insane trying to choose what to wear knowing everything I wore including my hair and purse, would be soaked in cigarette stench. It was pretty cold out when I went, and I actually left my coat in the car to spare it from the odor. I know smoking is unfortunately allowed in bars in Elgin, but I simply cannot get down with sitting in a confined smoke pit. Also, the service leaves something to be desired. The waitresses definitely seem to play favorites with locals (which was everyone but me) and they just seemed, surly? Cranky? Inattentive? Can't help but think how much more business this bar would get if there was no smoking allowed but setup a cute outside patio area for congregating and socializing with cool lights? Too bad.

The best bar in Elgin, TX. 5 beers on draft and large selection of liquor. Not to forget, but there is also Karaoke every Saturday and live music every week. A great place to visit whether you're passing through town or a local!

Unfortunately my original post has been "complained" about and I could see how it would have ruffled some feathers. If you read in prior to this - then what I said was 100% true and I stand behind everything said. If you haven't seen prior to this then I will simply state this instead. The Owner/Bartender that has helped us several times coming to this establishment made a choice to view inappropriate material on his computer in plain sight for all his paying customers to see. " I " ,myself and my husband were both HIGHLY offended not only by the content, but the attitude portrayed that this material was ok to view in front of paying customers like ourselves. I have the right to state that this was inappropriate material just like 99.9% of other people would have agreed. I was a paying customer and this is somewhere that we will not longer go to because of what we saw. To prevent putting yourself in a very awkward position as a paying customer - I would recommend taking your business elsewhere.

Ya know sometimes u wanna go to that "hole in the wall" to be ironic? Thought that would be the case here, but it REALLY was a hole in the worst wall. Bathroom was disgusting & WET everywhere, service was slow even when the bar was slow. The owner was mingling, but he was loud & rude, kind of bragging about "my place blah blah blah". U should be thankful for patrons, not bragging that u just rent a bldg and serve alcohol, ANYONE can do that! My buddy got some food, which was a BIG mistake, we won't ever be back.

Great folks and atmosphere. I wasn't sure after reading some of the derogatory reviews (which seem based on political bias...) but happy that we came here.

Went here with the boyfriend on a spoooky day trip... heard this place was formerly a mortuary and is supposed to be occupied by spirits that didn't move on. Whether or not that is the case, this is a cool, unpretentious small town bar... the inside has a lot of old fixtures and what looks like the original ceiling, and a skylight to brighten things up. Not a lot of draft options. It was a Saturday afternoon and there were some older guys watching football and sipping Shiners. Bartender was a really friendly lady. I think the owner was there, and he did make an off-color comment, but whatever; I'll keep my mouth shut. Plus, you can smoke inside! For what it's worth, when I went to the bathroom (toward the back of the building) the atmosphere felt heavier and a smidgen ominous. Definitely a cool historic little place to hang out.

Stay away. Dirty tables and chairs. Filthy restrooms. Wonder what the kitchen looks like?

This place is awesome! If you like live music and real people that aren't afraid to live it up, then this is your place. If your pretentious, looking for some half ass place to pamper your ass, then head to Austin. If you want strong drinks, real people and a down to earth good time, head here! Love this place and all the great musical acts that come through here, Elgin is lucky to have such a place!

Who doesn't like a sports bar created in the historic Elgin downtown district?! Full bar with select draft beer. It's smoking inside with many TVs to watch the game. Come support the local watering hole! There was a dog roaming the property, so bring your leashed friend

My boyfriend and I came in here last night. Bartender was friendly. They wasn't busy at all which I thought was odd for a Saturday night. Prices was fair. Nice building in downtown Elgin. Go out and support a local business. One other thing patio and draft beer.

Smoky local watering hole with a back porch. Friendly drink staff and mostly locals. Conveniently located downtown.
