Liduina Basiliek

One of the most beautiful churches I have seen in the Netherlands located at the very heart of Schiedam. It's really worth a visit and it's only 25 Min by public transport from Rotterdam's city centre

This gorgeous church is in the heart of Schiedam, very close to all the other attractions . 5 minutes or less cycling. They have the friendliest members inside ready to help you with all your questions. In English, Dutch and I would assume more language. (They have pamphlet available in other languages. ) This town holds a lot of history waiting to be discovered,start here, and continue exploring. Soft Latin music plays in the background as you walk along beautifully decorated walls. This church isn't as old as the others, but she is certainy something to behold. ⛪️ Have fun.

Very peaceful. Kind and respectful priests and people. We enjoy the short get-together after Mass with a cup of coffee on the house.

Liduina of Schiedam was the saint of the chronic diseased. She is one of the best known Patron saints of The Netherlands. In 1890 Liduina was not canonized, but her centuries-old sanctity was recognized. She is celebrated on the 14th of june. The church doesn't have a long history. Compared to other churches it is quite modern. It was built in 1881 as the Saint John Church and only got its name after the demolition liduina church in the 60's. On June 18, 1990, the church was elevated to Basilica Minor by Pope John Paul II.

I was here for the Christmas service. This is an exquisite church. Being inside feels as though being inside a Cathedral. Amazingly beautiful !! Absolutely worth a visit.

I'm so blessed to celebrate the ' HOLY MASS' here. We are blessed with anointed priests, prayerful & friendly people in the Church. God Jesus bless us all & keep us safe 🙏🥰👍🙏🥰🙏👍

Church with a good structure. The location is very nice and this place can be seen from a distance because of its big structure. One can hear a hour bell ringing from here every hour. Popular with tourists and has a big open space in its front where carnivals are held occasionally.

Very nice church one of only 27 Basilica minors in The Netherlands, while also housing the only remaining electo-mechenical and oldest (1886) electro-pneumatic organ of The Netherlands, for history geeks a must see!
