Lienzo Charro Mexican Restaurant Bar & Grill

I visited Lienzo Charro Mexican Bar and Grill for a late lunch while traveling through the area. The restaurant is quite spacious, with pool tables in the back and ample seating for large groups. There is also a well-stocked bar with seating. The establishment was relatively empty, so I chose to sit at the bar to watch the television. The bar tender took my drink order and brought chips and salsa. The green salsa was quite enjoyable, although I was surprised by the small serving size. I then ordered the calda de camaron shrimp soup, which took a while to arrive. The soup was somewhat disappointing, as it consisted of a tomato base with carrots, potatoes, and a few shrimp. Honestly, I had higher expectations for the price of $18.99. The service was slow and inattentive. I was not offered a drink or water refill and had to search for someone to present my bill so I could pay. Curiously, the only other person at the bar kindly stood up and processed my checkout. It was clearly not their best day, and this may have been an anomaly, but unfortunately, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend Lienzo Charro Mexican Bar and Grill.

A large restaurant and bar that can accommodate large parties easily. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The menu offered a large variety of items and the food was delicious. Many in our party took advantage of weekend dinner buffet. All were pleased with the buffet offerings. We will visit again for sure.

Came to have Valentine's dinner with my mom and nephews, enjoyed every minute ever. The waitresses were super friendly. Not to mention the Mariachi 🥰 they played a song for my mom and interacted with my nephews, even let one of they strum the strings on the guitar. And the food! SUPER YUMM!! we had the fish tacos, rice and beans, the skillet and chicken nuggets. We will definitely be going back again. Thank you guys for an amazing night.

We came in with a large party around late July. As we were sat down the place ended up starting to get busy, but the restaraunt seemed understaffed for the capacity it had. On top of this, our drinks were never refilled, even after asking. We did get our chips and salsa refilled a few times. The food was pretty good.

******Senergy gift card network ****** You can find great specials on Senergy gift cards at Costco online. I got $100 for $58 and two out of three of the restaurants I tried are really good. This one was the exception. I tried a long time ago and figured it wasn't something special since I hadn't been back. But since I was trying local restaurants in the the Senergy gift card network I gave it another try. It's like a ghost 👻 town in there. The buffet didn't look very appetizing. And service was below average.

The breakfast buffet looked delicious but the cheese enchiladas were cold and carnitas were on bones that looked just like plain unseasoned ribs. They did have omelets that you could have your way with all the fixings. I won't be going back. Thank you

We decided to celebrate my mom's 90th! Bday celebration. There were only 4 of us but we started off w complimentary chips & salsa, then we had a hamburger w fries, chile Verde combination plate, chips w cheese, beans & jalapeño & the Agua Chile green salsa ceviche (VERY HOT). My mom had a Margarita & a complimentary flan w candle! The food was delicious & well served. This is a huge restaurant w indoor & outdoor seating, I highly recommend it.

Visited with my group for business meeting and staff were very accommodating to our needs. The owner and staff were very welcoming. Sunday breakfast buffet was delicious. I loved the menudo and handmade tortillas.

Took my wife and 3 year old boy there last night and the food was great super hot plate and usually my wife's pretty picky about what we eat and she was happy as can be. We had the tamale and chile relleno plate and the green chile chicken enchiladas the rice and beans are as authentic as you can make and were very delicious. And they give free chips and salsa while the food is being prepared which was good cause my 3 year old tore the whole basket of chips up. The best thing about it in my opinion there's a good feel to the place not the fancy place that overcharges for mediocre food, it was just a good restaurant that makes good food. Don't expect fancy is all I'm saying. But here goes all cool spin on the night as we were finishing up and asked for the bill minutes later the owner comes over and says the food was taken care of by one of the other parties that were dining there, had to give a smile to the other tables and show thanks to them even though I don't know which one it was but it was a very nice gesture. Of course we left a very nice tip for our waitress she was very nice. Thanks to this place my second time coming here and won't be our last.

It should be a crime to serve food this bad. The fish filet and the carnitas were so dry, it was apparent that they were reheated in a microwave. The lettuce and avocado was brown and wilted. Who even knows how old this food was? Stay far away if you want to avoid paying a ton of money to get food poisoning and inedible food.

We love the great authentic Flavor here, plus the roomy outdoor patio where we can bring our dogs for lunch. People working here is always very friendly. My favorite is Chile Relleno and their Fajitas. Agua de Jamaica y Tamarindo are awesome, order a flan and thank me later.

Love this place. It's nice, clean and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. Anything they make is delicious. Love that they have ground beef also. Just yummy food

Sunday Brunch 8-2:00 pm today. WE arrived at 11:30 am today. The buffet looked very sad. You did not receive a menu, so you could see what was available and the price. The selection in the buffet is sparse, skimpy, and disgusting! The last 3 pieces of bacon were swimming in grease. The pork ribs were petrified as if they were leftovers from days ago. No pancakes. No eggs. The service was lacking. No one was available to ask questions or to guide you, especially since you had no menus! I had to get up twice for a drink and how to get into the dessert cart because it lacked easy access. Plenty of rice and beans and fruit but not worth $22.00! Not a good value for the money. Very disappointed. Ambiance was okay. It appeared to be unfriendly and in a dark mood.

We came here for the Sunday buffet. The food was good. It doesn't have as many options as the other Mexican buffets, but the price was reasonable. It wasn't very busy so the atmosphere was relaxed: the staff is very friendly.

I've been here several times now since it's very close to home. I've always gone during the evening hours and it's never packed which is a plus. The place is outdated and it's a little dingy but I can always look pass that when the food is good. They start you with chips and salsa which is yummy. I've had the cheese enchiladas and chili relleno plate which was fantastic. Last night 1/25/25 I had the menudo. Let me tell you, that menudo was excellent. All meat no hominy which I prefer. So much meat that I barely finished the bowl. I've always paired my food with a blended mango margarita. Again very delicious and refreshing. They also have a very large bar area and large seating area that would be able to handle a large party of over 10 plus people. I really recommend giving this place a shot. Oh before I forget they also have weekend brunch which I've yet to try but I'm very tempted to.

We were driving to fallbrook and couldn't bare to go another minute without eating so we pulled off the freeway and stopped by here for the first time for a hot meal and to kill some time and MANNN were we happy we did. Their food was great service was very attentive and their salsa is amazing.

The menudo is excellent. Super clean tons of meat and it is absolutely delicious; not greasy or spicy. Be careful because the Margaritas are super strong. I came for the Sunday buffet and I like the fact that it's not a ton of nasty food. It was about quality not quantity. The homemade tortillas are absolutely delicious and my husband loved his omelette, and he is very picky. I can't believe they are offering them despite the price of eggs right now. I hate everybody's Mexican rice, but the one here is good. I don't know why people give this place bad reviews as far as service; they kept picking up our plates and asking us if everything is fine. And the price is not bad at all. Very delicious authentic Mexican food is what you will get here.

Sunday brunch here is a good choice. Not a ton of choices compared to other brunch spots but they choose the Mexican food selections that speak to my Mexican food itch! Good menudo, great chile verde and chile Colorado! The rice, ribs, fruit bar, and omelets to order also solid choices. They do a really good job serving you here, not at your table every 5 minutes asking if you need anything, but attentively watching the room for someone needing something. Full bar is a plus! Handmade tortilla station is also a plus!

After many years of driving past this restaurant while on the freeway and thinking I should go , I found the time to visit. At first glance I was a little hesitant to stay but the person that greeted me was pleasant and very customer service like. He answer my questions regarding their Happy Hour policy and informed me we could sit wherever we liked. The place is quite large, with a bar counter, buffet service area for weekend brunch, several booths and tables, and pool tables in the rear. Ordered the Carne Asada Special with rice and beans; and a #5 Combo which is a Chile Relleno and a Beef Taco with rice and beans. As a starter we had the Complementary Warm Chips and Salsa House Margaritas! For Happy Hour the Margaritas are $5 The food was very delicious! The Carne Asada was tender and juicy, and Chile Relleno was delicious too. Their rice was exceptional! Fluffy and moist! Will revisit to try some of my favorites to see how this place compares.

We absolutely love this restaurant! No better Mexican food in SoCal! It is never busy but always delivers the best of everything. Please come check it out!!!

I'm sorry but this place is not good. I ordered carne asada tacos and the carne had no flavor the tortilla was stale, the beans and rice didn't have much flavor my wife had the enchiladas Suizas and the sauce taste like something that came out of a can. Also was very hard to enjoy my food and hear my wife talk with the loud punk rock band performing on the patio... very very odd choice of music at a Mexican restaurant

The service was fantastic. Everyone was so sweet and accommodating. The food was good. Satisfying. Drinks were good too. Location from the Signature Hotel is absolutely perfect.

Staff was nice but we were not really checked on. The salsa could be as another yelper said... the worst salsa I have ever tasted. No flavor. Like water and not even good water. The flour tortillas were yummy. The entrees were lacking flavor. The "jaiva" was gummy. I even got a stomach ache. Didn't even eat 25% of the meal. Nice ambiance, have actually looked forward to trying it out.... I mean they have a picture of Maria Felix and Kahlo as you walk in.

Was driving around for a Sunday Mexican Brunch and this was one of the closest. It was getting close to 2pm so we decided to dine here rather than drive an hour somewhere and don't make it in time. We were hungry. It is a very modest, hole in the wall kind of place. They have decent selections. For the price you pay, do not expect much. You get what you pay for is what Im saying. Will I come back? Probably not.

Trying to lose weight with a high protein diet is difficult when you go out to restaurants. At Lienzo Charro restaurant I had the beef burrito which is stuffed with shredded beef and cheese. I know the tortilla has carbohydrates but no rice, beans, or potatoes. Just beef!! And it was flavorful!!! My wife had a Cadillac Margarita. It was served the old fashion way with the grand Renée serve separately in jigger so you know you got the full benefit. We had a wonderful time.

Food was wonderful- prices verrry reasonable- delicious food! We have loved Lienzo Charros since our intro during the pandemic 'shut down' . We were sooo grateful for the wonderful food and support in Poway .. we recently moved to Murrieta and were 'hoping'? That it was the same? It was!! Same Oscar- WONDERFUL service same great food we are in our happy place thank you 'tio' ..your food your restaurant is still top on our list!

One of my favorite local weekend brunch spots. Freshly handmade tortillas. An omelette station. And both pozole and menudo. Been here once since COVID and the staff is respectful to provide socially distanced seating. Other items for brunch are tamales, enchiladas, rice and beans, sausage, bacon, ribs, and a couple other dishes that I normally don't get so I can't speak to them. Desserts are usually a fruit cup and breads. Restrooms are always clean. Very friendly and attentive staff. And they have a sports bar area so you can watch whatever game you're interested in. They usually have at least two games on.

Atmosphere here needs updating, place is big. I ordered The tostada salad , chicken was tasty but dish overall was just ok. My husband said the chili rellano also was just ok. The table next to had ordered fajitas, that smelled really good I would recommend to try that the next time

I came to know this restaurant only because they offered $10 off $20 purchase. My first time here, I ordered menudo for $12.99 and $8.99 chill relleno side. The chili relleno was almost all cheese. It tasted really good hot and stringy, but soon cooled and cheese became hard. I told the server the menudo was extremely bland. He grimaced, like eeeek, but said nothing. I told him I put a ton of salt in the broth, all the dish of cilantro and onion, but seemed to make no difference. I asked server if he had anything else to beef up the flavor. How about garlic. He only had garlic powder, which he brought me. This menudo has no hominy, which is OK with me. I'd rather have more tripe and feet, than hominy. It has some pigs feet and skin, which I really like. I make my own menudo out of pigs feet. The menudo did have a lot of pieces of meat, tho. The salsa was incredibly bland and watery, too. And very very cold. Possibly the worst salsa I ever ate in my life. I tried to give this restaurant a second chance. Still used my $10 off $20 Restaurant.com certificate. This time I ordered #9 Combo plate chese enchilda and chilli relleno with beans and rice $14.99 and a plain flan for $5.99 TO GO. I was very disappointed with the amount of food in the take out box that costs $14.99. Then when I got to the car, I realized there was no chips and salsa like when I sit down at a table I am served. Server sighed, and went to get it. Tiny bag, and little sauce container of salsa, not the basketful and small bowl of salsa you get when you sit at a table. I thought the entree flavor was very bland, but I ate it in the car and did not have hot sauce and salt to beef up the flavor. After I finished my #9, I realized I didn't get the tortillas either. After he took off the $10, it was with tax stil over $13, I didn't think it was worth paying even with the $10 off. This restaurant has a pretty big seating capacity. Both times I came here, was on a weekend, about dinner time. There was only one other table occupied, or I was the only one there, and later one party came in. I don't see how they pay the rent, so dead.

The service was good, but the chips and salsa were very bad. The entree was just OK. Drinks way over priced and a secret service charge of 25% was added on top of the bill. I was just coming from a funeral and not paying attention and left a 20% tip adding up to 45% tip. Though considered legal in California, not good a business practice. Never again eat here and we go out often!

Service was wonderful and had a great time. Went for the mimosas and brunch buffet. My son was home on leave and we had a great time playing pool after we had our brunch.

3 stars... Our anniversary dinner required Mexican food, and this joint popped up near our hotel on Yelp. Seated with crispy corn chips and somewhat spicy salsa. No happy hour service after 7, so we opted for a couple of margaritas. Ordered the carnitas platter which cane with pico, pickled jalapeños, beans, and rice. Menu indicated sliced avocado but it came with a bit of guacamole. Ambiance is strip mall, service was subpar, and prices were above quality. Average food and drinks but the mariachi played a song for us to dance so we left happy but this joint just doesn't make the list.

Great food & great service! I've been eating at Lienzo for a very long time. Started at the Poway location & eventually moved to Temecula. Was pleasantly surprised when I found out there was one in town! I always order the same thing & it's great every time. Azteca soup & a crunchy beef taco with rice & beans. Chips & salsa always served fresh- very delicious. Great drinks (margaritas & micheladas are my favorite).

We came to this restaurant as a large group because we were all staying at the hotel next door due to a sports tournament. The food took forever to be served and was very bland and tasted like they microwaved. The service was unorganized and when my wife went to ask the waiter to bring me another beverage he had her bring him the cup- with all that and they had a service charge on the bill?! Really?! You are home charge me to do your job? Very bad food and service

This place is absolutely disgusting. order burrito the other day honestly made me feel sick how to mention I realize they overcharged me the pricing board doesn't match what they charge at the window. It's like a two or three dollar difference. I don't paying for food The company just needs to be transparent with their pricing and not charge people more than what's advertised

Stopped in here for lunch after we found it on restaurant.com. Ordered the Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo & 7 Mares Seafood Soup. Both were very delicious. The service was great. Only complaint was they had a large party right in the middle of the front part of the restaurant so it was very noisy. It was hard to converse with the waiter and we had to raise our voices to hear each other. I think the large party should have been sat at the rear part of the restaurant, where they could make as much noise as they wanted without disturbing the other diners.

The food was really good but the restaurant was dead inside. There were only about two other parties there at the time! The margarita was just right! The salsa was definitely fresh! The fish was good! Beans were basic nothing special. The server was nice and we had very fast service!(:

Due to my sister being terminally ill and being on a tight senior budget, it's a very rare occasion that we get to go out. Our husbands took us here for brunch and added on the all you can drink bloody Marys or glasses of champagne (for an additional $12)in which my husband had two bloody Marys and I had two glasses of champagne. The Buffett is small and doesn't offer a lot of choices. I got a plate of fruit that was past being ripe and the enchiladas, rice and beans was so bad, I was barely able to swallow it. Never again! Just for my husband and I the bill was almost $75!!! That is a HUGE chunk of our SSDI income that I wish I could get back. That would have got me quite a bit of groceries!!!

This week was first time I've eaten there. Food was delicious. I had the taco plate with chicken and beef taco and beans and rice. So so good! I usually stay at the Temecula Signature in the same parking lot and drive around to eat. This is my go to place when I go back out there.

This place is literally CRAP everything is watered down the pozole is terrible might as well be hominy in water and they took like 30 minutes to bring it out ??? Why so long for terrible tasting soup. Their service is very slow. The food is very mediocre. Save your money and put it into gas to keep searching further down the road. The drive the place right next to them is 100000x better. Trust me

What a great find, we've driven by so many times saying we need to try this place. Friends had mentioned taco Tuesday is good here. We're here and just made it in at 6.55pm in time for last call happy hour....margaritas! Complimentary chips and salsa are pretty good. I went with a carnitas plate. It was awesome...the pork was browned up nicely with rice and beans. Lots of cilantro, Pico de Gallo and some guac. The wife went with a beef enchilada and rice. She liked it and I had a taste...pretty good and I'm not a huge mole fan. For me I like red sauce on enchiladas. The margaritas were tasty and took care of my tequila needs. Service was good and a very nice atomsphere with big screens tv for Monday night football. I'll be back....

After discovering that our first choice place to dine was closed on Monday we decided to give Lienzo a try. We were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is large, and quite frankly I was not initially very impressed with the look and feel of the place. There is a good sized bar area. Big screen TVs tuned to Monday night football were on in the restaurant and bar area. There were the two of us, a party of 4 dining near us, and a couple of guys in the bar. It was empty! It felt like being at the only restaurant in a small rural town where the locals hang out. Chips and salsa were served. Good salsa! My meal was a beef enchilada with mole sauce and a side of rice. It was juicy, flavorful and delicious. My husband had the carnitas plate--carnitas were crispy on the outside and tender juicy in the inside. Hubby also had margaritas (happy hour is until 7pm and we made it for happy price on one drink). The food here is pretty good, and the price is very reasonable. Service was good (better be for such a small crowd, right?). After enjoying our meal, the place grew on me and I liked it better than when I first walked in. I'm glad we gave Lienzo a try.

Food had a really good flavor, The lady that helpped us was so nice, patient and they even gave us an ice cream cone before we left. This place made me feel like home with all the friendly staff that they have.

First time at Lienzo charro Mexican restaurant and I was greeted and seated immediately. Great family atmosphere and amazing food! I got the #10 which included two taquito type tacos, an enchilada, and rice and beans. Would definitely come again and would highly recommend. P.s. the horchata was booooomb!!!

Tried out this Mexican restaurant for the first time. I'm not really a fan of Mexican food but it's my cousins fav and since since she was driving we stopped here. I must say I was impressed with the sopes. They were perfectly cooked. I had one with shredded beef and one with Carne Asada. Both meets were very tasty and the Carne asada has no fat which is a good thing. All in all good food and the service was good as well. The green sauce that was served with my dish was bomb and were the sopes! All in all I'd eat there again if I was being chauffeured.

The service was great. There were only two people working, but they were very attentive. The salsa was fresh and had great flavor. We got the shrimp enchiladas. They were really good; large servings.

we went for the brunch we were late, they did seat us, they were very nice very authentic Mexican food I was not pleased with the amount that was left over ...no enchiladas... limited selection but it was our fault for going late like I said but we're only 15 minutes late drinks were not good very watered down bloody Mary's very watered down

I don't like giving a poor review to a local business, but our experience was pretty appalling. They need to do a major reset. We came around 2 pm for a late lunch, it looked like there had been a recent rush and the restaurant was empty. The manager and only employee there pointed us to the one clean table in the restaurant, the rest were covered with dishes and food that needed to be bused. I asked if we could get an ice water and ice tea right off since I sensed service would be very slow. They tasted terrible, we could barely drink them. I asked for a Diet Coke instead, but he said the fountain drink machine wasn't working, and the only drinks available were bottled Coke and margaritas. The chips and salsa weren't fresh. Our food order, flautas and tacos, took a very long time. They were okay and the guac was good, which earned the two stars. The manager kept disappearing for long amounts of time so things took forever and I had to go find him. There was a massive puddle of water on the floor by the bar I almost stepped in. The place really was a mess. No effort at all was taken to do what's needed to operate a restaurant. It should not be open to the public in that condition and without adequate staff. I hope they try to get it together, as in the past it's been good.

First time here. The service was good friendly. I wanted chilaquiles but they stop serving them at one and it was currently around 3PM. The server was nice enough to ask the kitchen if that could make them for me. I was craving chilaquiles and so happy I was able to try them here. The sauce was perfect and exactly what I wanted.
