The D.C.-Area Restaurant Openings You Should Know About This November | Eater DC

"The health-focused chain’s first Virginia location balances a welcoming, all-day workspace vibe—think power outlets, specialty espresso drinks, and Wi‑Fi—with a menu of grain bowls, salads, wraps, cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and acai bowls. Satisfying standouts include spicy peanut noodles, a crispy falafel pita, and miso eggplant with crispy rice." - Emily Venezky

I visited Life Alive on opening day and had such a great experience! The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind, and the service was quick even with the crowds. Everything is plant based, I tried the Banana Nut Matcha and the Spicy Garlic noodles and both were AMAZING — super flavorful and fresh. I’m so happy they opened in the area and can’t wait to come back!

New cute spot. I only stopped by to get the nana bread matcha I saw online but seems like a nice neighborhood sport for lunch, brunch, coffee or wfh

Terrible coffee and underwhelming food. The smell of the restaurant is overwhelming of onions. It leaks into the street and is a terrible odor. The food had a bad flavor, and the “roasted”veggies were barely cooked. Falafel was dry. The coffee was extremely weak and watery. Two others in my group hated it too.

Spicy peanut noodles with tofu were really good and fresh. Breakfast is also great

Delicious gluten free options! Very allergen concious. I went at breakfastime and enjoyed both the Breakfast Hash and the Blueberry Superfood Waffles (shared with someone, I would NOT be able to finish both on my own). Gluten free food can be kind of hit or miss, but I'm happy to say that both of these options were a definite hit! Friendly service and a cute place, definitely recommend.

I’m not too sure why there are negative reviews of this location; it just opened this past Wednesday (11/12). Our experience this evening (11/15) was delightful. The atmosphere was inviting, and we were immediately greeted by the staff. Our food was delicious, also. My wife ordered the Harvest bowl, and I ordered the Golden Buddha and Spinach and Feta Fritters. We shared a bowl of the Butternut Bisque. Everything was well seasoned and well executed- not one element missing the mark on flavor, texture, or aroma. Should prospective patrons research the menu online, they will find that Life Alive focuses on plant forwardness. There should be little to no expectation of there being a meat option. This does extend to the selection of beverages, which my wife and I have vowed to try in the very near future. Overall, 10 out of 10 experience for a quick and quiet bite to eat!

Such a low number of reviews including a couple of negative ones that bring its score down. The line outside of the door on the opening of this restaurant was one of the most impressive things I’ve seen for a new restaurant. Every day I walk by, the cafe has a large number of people gathering in the various seating options, enjoying coffee, food and atmosphere. Despite another comment, the smell of the kitchen going onto the sidewalk is welcomed and smells delicious. I hope the community continues to support this restaurant the way they did when they opened because it takes a village.

Went to opening day and it was amazing! I had the sandwich/soup combo and the banana matcha latte. Both were amazing. The staff were also super friendly!
