The D.C.-Area Restaurant Openings You Should Know About This November | Eater DC

"The health-focused chain’s first Virginia location balances a welcoming, all-day workspace vibe—think power outlets, specialty espresso drinks, and Wi‑Fi—with a menu of grain bowls, salads, wraps, cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and acai bowls. Satisfying standouts include spicy peanut noodles, a crispy falafel pita, and miso eggplant with crispy rice." - Emily Venezky

I visited Life Alive on opening day and had such a great experience! The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind, and the service was quick even with the crowds. Everything is plant based, I tried the Banana Nut Matcha and the Spicy Garlic noodles and both were AMAZING — super flavorful and fresh. I’m so happy they opened in the area and can’t wait to come back!

Life Alive Cafe is such a gem for the neighborhood. The interior is warm, inviting, and genuinely cozy, making it a great place to slow down and enjoy a meal. The dishes are incredibly well thought out with amazing variety, textures, and flavors, and everything feels intentionally healthy without sacrificing taste. Every time I eat here, I leave feeling nourished, energized, and refreshed. So glad to have a spot like this in Ballston.

Loved this place. Fully vegetarian menu with lots of vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options that are actually feel intentional. Great vegan protein choices too. And the nutritional yeast shakers were the cherry on top. Definitely coming back.

Just opened across the street from me and had been eager to try it, even though it's not necessarily my vibe. I got the spicy peanut noodles and they were really good! My partner got a "burrito" that was sort of "sushi" adjacent, exchanging fish for mushrooms and it was also good, and maybe most shockingly the spicy mint cold pressed juice was super good. I won't be a regular here but I will be coming back

Friendly staff! Amazing and creative food! I’m not vegetarian, but this food is soo good that it doesn’t need any meat!!!

New cute spot. I only stopped by to get the nana bread matcha I saw online but seems like a nice neighborhood sport for lunch, brunch, coffee or wfh

Spicy peanut noodles with tofu were really good and fresh. Breakfast is also great. Loved the Mexican salad. Wish they had almond milk.

I've stopped in a few times as I work nearby and really enjoy the vibe. It's a nice spot to knock out a few e-mails or catch up with a friend. The seating is comfortable. The ambiance is very warm and inviting. The food is good with generous portions and intentional ingredients. I really liked their orange matcha! The staff have all been especially nice and helpful.
