"A vegetarian restaurant with three locations in Cambridge, Salem, and Lowell just opened a fourth on the campus of Boston University. Life Alive debuted this week in the former Panera Bread space near the BU Bridge. The new Life Alive on Comm. Ave. accepts online ordering, a benefit for diners. Vegetarian and vegan options abound on Life Alive’s menu, which includes salad bowls, warm grain bowls, wraps, smoothies, soups, tea, coffee, and juices. The new location operates next door to Otto Pizza and down the street from Chipotle, Sunset Cantina, and several other restaurants." - Dana Hatic

I didn't know this restaurant had more locations in town, and this one in particular is a place to visit. Good good, good atmosphere. Tall ceilings and beautiful decorations. Every corner of the restaurant is different. One piece of advice, if you order one of their plates, better share it with a friend, I could not finish mine.

Google
I was surprised by how delicious the PB&J açai bowl was. Came with a generous dollop of peanut butter. Would definitely order again. Order taker at the counter was neither friendly nor rude. Just kind of there. If they’re not even going to smile, why not just switch to kiosks?

Never miss a chance to eat at one of the Life Alive cafes when we are in Boston. Absolutely the best vegan food experience. So many options and all healthy and delicious. You can't go wrong!

Google
The teriyaki tofu bowl had semi-hard, undercooked rice. Although it is a warm bowl, the veggies were still hard. I wish the dish was more thoroughly cooked but the flavor and tofu was well done.

Great menu variety and unbelievable quality and flavor! Atmosphere draws you in and you can't help but smile :)

Google
Such a cool spot to study/ and grab some food or a coffee! Right near Boston University. I was really happy with the Peanut Butter Açaí bowl

Google
This is pretty much the only place I eat out. I’m a high raw plant-based eater & I work for a plant-based cardiologist. I really appreciate their superb managers Mo & Grace. I want to thank Mo especially for being so kind to me! It’s much appreciated, young man! I feel confident this company is headed in the right direction with management like Mo & Grace. I’m looking forward to the Dedham location opening as this is close to my home.

Good tasty food! Personal favorite - hot lemon ginger drink. So good!

Yelp
Food: Avocado Chocolate Mousse was DELICIOUS. First time having it, was so moist, consistent, thick, and the best thing I have ever had. Also love how clean their ingredients are. Service. The manager was SUPER nice, food was also fast! Ambiance: I love this location. It's such a cute area, and walking distance from my favorite yoga studio :)

Nick T.

Yelp
I had the Açaí bowl and the coffee here. The base was very good but the fruit was a little subpar. The coffee was sort of acidic, which I didn't love, but the system for getting it was nice. Atmosphere is amazing, and everything here is so pretty. They have so many amazing looking menu items, and the people here are pretty nice too. Overall, if you're nearby and need food, this is a good place to go.

Cia H.

Yelp
Great tasting healthy food. Clearly high quality. My favorite açaí bowl spot of all time. Their smoothies are great too (especially the Elvis). Only thing I've tried that I wouldn't recommend is the matcha. Presentation of the food is always on point. Also great ambiance. Calm, peaceful pillow fort vibes. Great for studying.

Yelp
Nice little surprise to find after a graduation. Clean tasty fresh food, clean, chill casual restaurant. Order at the counter, take your number, and the food arrives pretty fast.

Tim P.

Yelp
Great healthy salads and drinks. Quick and efficient service. Wonderful food and pretty good prices.

Jacqueline V.

Yelp
Food is small in portion sizes so that is disappointing. Overall good though and healthy options that are also refreshing.

Han L.

Yelp
This is a cute cafe where people get work done. I really enjoyed me acai bowl. The taste of the acai was great!

Yelp
Service wasn't great. I tried calling to see if there were tables available, the gal on the phone clearly had no idea what I was asking for. Still, I was very hungry and had a flight to catch so I went. I had never been here before and tried asking for recommendations. The girl at the register seemed very nice but couldn't answer my questions, so she got someone who could. No harm there, but interesting. I ordered a vanilla latte and the PB&J açaí bowl. It was about $20 in total. I received my food. The bowl was very small for the price in my opinion. I tried the coffee first. I'll say it wasn't great, but in reality it was very bad. I'm not a coffee snob, and this morning I was in desperate need of it. Yet, after a few more tries I just threw it away. The açaí bowl was good, but I now feel sick from the meal. I'm from California and often order the same meal. This restaurant was sadly very poor in comparison. However, I see the appeal of this place. It has a great look to it and I did enjoy sitting there and studying. Also, the savory food options smelled delicious. I don't think I'll ever return for breakfast, but perhaps I'll try their lunch.

Dana S.

Yelp
I had an amazing lunch here - the Rainbow Harvest Bowl was delicious. The bowl was bursting with warm flavour! The main feature of the bowl, the whipped sweet potato, was especially memorable - the spices and the texture were so good - I'm writing this review two months later but my mouth is still watering thinking about it. The dish used a variety of vegetables that all complimented each other well, which made it a really healthful and satisfying meal. I also enjoyed their ginger kombucha (on tap)! Very refreshing. Counter service - you order up front, they'll give you a number and bring your food and drink to your table - seat yourself. My food took a while but with how busy they were, that was to be expected. The aesthetic of the place is very inviting to me. There's lots of seating but it was still pretty packed when I was there. I managed to find a spot at the bar, which turned out to be fun because I got a view of the kitchen and could watch them throwing things together.

Yelp
Method: Takeout/Delivery Item(s) ordered: Buddha bowl and Miso soup The short review: Buddha bowl was very fresh and flavorful. I am over the moon with how many toppings they include in this dish. Miso soup was pretty good (I'd say 3/5), but one must like ginger. The long(er) review: I finally landed on my perfect go-to dish at Life Alive. The Buddha Bowl has all of the benefits of both a rice bowl and a salad. This plant-based option comes with a TON of mix-ins including 2 types of beets, kale, cabbage, mushroom, avocado, and more. A creamy, garlicky sauce tops the dish, warming my heart. As for the miso soup, it was a bit one-note (that's the ginger), but if you're looking for a warm simple bowl of soup it could definitely serve that purpose. Note: it is a little bit spicy (again, due to that ginger). Final takes: I will absolutely be ordering from here again/visiting in-person. This is a great option for whole, nourishing meals, especially for people with special diets like gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. Thank you and love you, Life Alive!

Kaitlyn W.

Yelp
Everything I tried here was so delicious! I love that the entire menu is vegetarian, and much of it is gluten free, dairy free, or vegan as well.

Christiane M.

Yelp
yum! lovely vibe very healthy and meal prices were not bad for the portions. would definitely go back again

Guenter S.

Yelp
I loved the most the atmosphere and that they had vegan options. I had the hot cafe latte and avocado toast. Both tasted very good. The avocado toast was a bit small to be sufficient for brunch at least for me. I really liked the arrangement of tables and the ambiance. Staff was quick and friendly.

Yelp
I'm back, again... This time tried the seasonal Autumn Falafel bowl advertised at the store front. This might be my second favorite dish now, best being the forbidden kale still. The only thing I would complain about would be the falafel, which had an interesting cinnamon spice on top of the usual falafel spice that was a little off putting. The rest of the bowl was delicious-- carrots steamed to perfection, roasted butternut squash, nutritional yeast for a bit of umami, all coming together perfectly with a saucy rice base. I wasn't a huge fan of the falafel so i might ask to sub with tofu next time, but the rest of the bowl was delicious!

Alex A.

Yelp
The acai at Life Alive is one of the best bowls I've ever had. The acai base tastes truly like acai, as opposed to a smoothie. However, the amount of toppings is rather underwhelming, as well as the size of the bowl itself. The rainbow nori roll was similarly delicious, though largely containing the rice base instead of the more desired toppings. The service is typically quick and the area is very cute and whimsical.

Dana B.

Yelp
Place used to be great but everything about it has got worse in the past 2-3 years. Service has declined (very slow, lots of standing around). Food has also declined, in portion size and quality, while prices have gone up. $3 for two small pieces of falafel, and $11 for a fruit smoothie.

Ella F.

Yelp
My go-to spot as a busy BU student - life alive is always tasty, quick(ish), and makes me feel just a bit healthier. It's also a nice spot to get a treat and study with friends :) I will never stop recommending life alive to everyone and anyone

Yelp
Ordered on a Thursday evening.. asked for a few substitutes for a bowl which was not fulfilled (they removed the ingredients and did not replace them). You know what, accidents happen, we're human. I let that go. One of the other bowls I ordered was the Green Goddess which had no substitutes, so I started eating it.. noticed a bug, didn't think much of it because I understand you can't guarantee a salad to be insect-proof. But wow.. I should have taken that as the first warning. I proceeded to eat and at first I thought they were just broccoli leaves, but when I took a closer look, I realized my bowl was infested with insects. You can see from the photos attached. You can see that I have already taken a bite out of this broccoli. I did call Life Alive, and they did refund me. But I really felt they could have done more. Maybe an apology, maybe some other way to makeup for this experience. I am still so disturbed. I haven't even looked at the other bowls. I think I'm just going to toss them. This has ruined it for me and I don't think I can come back from this experience.

Laura H.

Yelp
I can't get enough of this acai bowl! I really want to try other things but I can't not order that delicious bowl. Amazing

Juhye K.

Yelp
a beautiful, spacious spot for a solo work date or a group gathering to have some delicious, fresh, healthy eats! got their açaí bowls which were simple and delicious, although admittedly quite expensive for the size. i wish it wasn't $2 extra to add peanut butter, but otherwise a lovely gem!

Hebe L.

Yelp
The food was good! It's cool that avocado and combine with chocolate, didn't taste any avocado but it's still interesting! They were really busy. I didn't get any utensils but everyone is so busy and I need to go to them and they told me they will bring it to me. But then I waited awhile and no one come so I went up again, some of them don't even know where utensils are. The sofa spot is a bit crowded!

J L.

Yelp
This location used to be better but has often been inconsistent. Love the concept though and hope they get back up to where they should be.

Le B.

Yelp
Idk what happened here, but the food is worse and they are insanely understaffed. Just waited 45 min for a latte & smoothie that they later realized had just been sitting on the counter. The smoothie was separated and the ice was melted in the latte. Couldn't wait to get out of there though. My recent visits have also been less than what I would expect of any restaurant. Under seasoned, undressed salads, hot food gone cold...they need better management. I'll be back when I hear they've reorganized.

Roger L.

Yelp
Great space, i can see why all the college students would hang out here, Happy and Healthy! The food was as expected but more surprised at how much our kids loved their meal and fruit smoothie. I was curious, where were all the hot sauces the cambridge location use to just have out, was this a post-pandemic change? Anyways, we would definitely eat here every day if we could!

Yelp
Walking into the Brookline Life Alive (there are several around the Boston/Cambridge area) from a rain-swept Commonwealth ave, I soaked in the sunny vibe of the clean and brightly lit eatery. Wandering up to the gentleman at the counter, I asked if he could suggest a Whole Food Plant Based No Oil option for me. He recommended the Buddha Bowl (without the accompanying dressings), which I happily ordered, along with a modified Elvis Alive smoothie. He directed me to the well-marked waiting area, and I took a stool at the end of a long wooden bar that looks onto the food-prep area. Staff were quite friendly and folks in their twenties, thirties, and forties filled the dining area behind me. My warm Bowl not only arrived quickly, but was oil-free, fresh, filling, and delicious! A hot loam of hearty brown rice and quinoa slumbered below a colorful blanket of steamed kale and purple cabbage, accompanied by diced beets, shiitake mushrooms, hemp seeds, and a healthy hunk of avocado to top it off. The almond pieces provided a pleasant crunchiness, and even without the dressings, the dish had a unique flavor, enhanced by slices of jalapeño pepper and a pungent spice combination that I couldn't identify. (The Elvis smoothie was ok, but I think I probably emasculated it by requesting the removal of several key coconut ingredients, and by the time I'd realized this, it was too late to "Return to Sender.") I highly recommend Life Alive and definitely look forward to a return visit!

Yelp
Read this as a 3.5/5 review - Such a cute vegetarian spot in the heart of the BU campus - the food is decently priced for the size (a smidge cheaper than CAVA prices, each bowl is priced at around $9.50-$10.50). They also offer soups, salads, and you can make a bowl into a wrap for $1 more. We ordered: +Spring falafel bowl +Thai peanut sutra Was a little disappointed by the falafel bowl - the flavors were a bit muted and wish there was more tahini sauce that came with this. The falafel ended up being a bit dry for my taste - again, blaming this on the lack of sauce. The bowl was 30% peas which I wasn't a huge fan of since they advertise this as having equal portions of asparagus, broccoli, dill, roasted chickpeas and watercresss. Everything just tasted like it was steamed, with no seasoning of any sort on top of a bed of rice. The Thai peanut sutra however, was the bomb dot com. The mushrooms were so soft and chewy, the pineapples added a kick of sweetness, and there was a good balance of grains, vegetables, and sauce. As others have mentioned, definitely think this place has some quality control issues - seems to be a hit or miss the more often you go. They offer smoothies, lattes, and juices here which looked AMAZING. Hot Mexican chocolate, iced blue ocean, iced golden milk, blue magic smoothie... the names itself scream faaaaancy to me :) They had a whole menu just as long as the food menu dedicated just for drinks. Will definitely have to give this a try and update the review when I do! The space inside is so adorable and picturesque, too bad you still aren't allowed to dine in here yet. I got a glimpse of it when placing an order inside and could definitely see myself getting some work done or chatting it up with friends one of these days, if they ever end up opening indoor seating again here. Just the fact that one of bowls we ordered wasn't seasoned well and seemed to be too many inconsistencies, as well as it taking us about 25 minutes for us to get our order, even though this is known to be more of a grab and go (DIY bowl kind of place), knocking off 2 stars. I appreciate the cafe for what it is and is awesome to see a healthier dining option amidst rows and rows of fried chicken shops and fast food restaurants in the brookline / Allston area, they need to up their sauce game!!

Stephanie Z.

Yelp
This place used to have reliable online ordering. I've ordered twice (WAY IN ADVANCE!) from their app, and every time I've ordered, they didn't have my order. I know it's not a software glitch because my card is still charged. What the hell life, alive? Not totally a one star because the workers here who've sensed my hangriness are quick to fix the problem, but Life Alive - BU, why do you guys hate me?

Stella L.

Yelp
Thanks to the manager's invite back for a comped meal (thanks Eddie!), I was able to go and try out two new menu items- the Spring Falafel Bowl and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Acai bowl. Before I continue, I want to say that I'm not giving 5 stars just because I was able to get these on the house, but because they. were. fricking. delicious. No fancy words needed-simply good food that makes you happy. Spring Falafel Bowl: biggest shoutout to the lovely cashier for recommending this- I'm wincing at the thought that I could've lived in Boston without ever trying this dish. The falafel has a kick to it (spice lev.1), and the CHICKAPEAS were the best part. I swear they could be sold as snacks on their own, it was that tasty. I also usually drench my food with sauces/spices but this did not need anything else. It was so flavorful on its own, which is so rare for me. **They have a station with to-go boxes so I saved half of it for dinner, and you need to believe me when I say it tastes the BEST when you take it out of the fridge, and it's COLD. I'm coming back ASAP just to order and put it in the fridge to eat later. 10/10. I'm craving one rn so badly it hurts Peanut butter cup Acai Bowl: nutty, chocolatey, crunchy every bite- the perfect treat for anyone with an unsatisfiable sweet tooth (best part is that you feel healthy while eating this). Simple as this- if you love chocolate, you WILL adore this bowl, guaranteed. ALSO got to finally look at the interior of this place in detail & take few shots, and it's no surprise why everyone loves coming here to just vibe. If anything, more people need to look up and admire the beautiful hanging lamps!

Yelp
Life Alive is my favorite place for vegan food. I typically go at least once a week after my workout. My favorite item is the honey mango açaí bowl, it is so so delicious. It is drizzled in honey with figs, pomegranate, nuts. It is the most delicious mix of texture and flavors and is so refreshing. I also get the spring and fall falafel depending on the season. The food is very filling and flavorful which is the first time I have experience with vegan food. I highly recommend life alive in Brookline and getting the honey açaí mango, the peanut noodles, and spring or fall falafel.

Megan H.

Yelp
Life Alive a wonderful option for fresh, nutritious, and delicious food. This is also a great branch - the staff are friendly and there is plenty of space to stretch out. It can get busy occasionally due to the fact that it's right on Boston University's campus, but I've never had trouble finding a seat. And I come here fairly regularly. Overall, a great spot to meet a friend, get some work done, and of course grab a quick bite!

Kristine A.

Yelp
No. I don't care how healthy this place is. Simply. No. It's not worth it & they just can't seem to get their crap together. Why did they change their menu for the worse I will never understand. After not going for several years, (had an issue at a different location) ended up here w/ a friend since other places were too busy in the area. They are just so disappointing in various ways. You can't really modify or substitute anything they offer which is super annoying. I just wanted to be able get a bowl of greens w/ veggies on it but of course, the veggies I wanted were on the grains side of the menu. Like seriously, why is this so hard? I wanted less rice & more kale & they couldn't accommodate. To make it worse the meals came out before the beverage & soup, come on, really? So wrong. When we finally get it then my soup has red pepper flakes in it, why would you do that when it doesn't belong there & has no mention of it on the menu either. So I brought it back & a few minutes later it was ready? Yeah cause it was barely warm. Then to make it worse my cream of broccoli soup had only three pieces of broccoli in it. So pathetic. Never again.

David S.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of this place. Great food. Good place to visit with friends or hang out and work. Service is fine. You order at the counter and they bring to you, but you bus table.

T L.

Yelp
This. Place. My friends and I stumbled upon this adorable restaurant as we were searching for a dinner spot before heading to a sporting event this past Saturday night. My one friend and I tried the Autumn Harvest Grain Bowl, while our other friends tried the Forbidden Kale Salad and the Rainbow Grain Bowl. We all agreed that the bowls were incredible, and the aesthetic of them added all the more to the taste and overall vibe. The restaurant it's self was super unique and felt more like a lounge and hang out spot than a restaurant. There were couches and lounging areas to sit at, and you could take a spot wherever you were comfortable. You ordered at the front counter, and food was brought to wherever you were residing. The color scheme of the dining establishment itself was very calming, making it a great spot to spend a study session or have a long catch up with a friend. The menu looked amazing and it was a long process to decide what to order! I was even drooling over the brunch items and small plates, such as aesthetically topped smoothie bowls, and hummus and pita plate. We realized afterwards that Life Alive is indeed a chain, and would all definitely be back again!

Yelp
So I honestly never will strive To eat again at Life Alive The service was tetchy And the food was quite sketchy But I still hope they do well and thrive More like Death Deceased. On the one hand I love the decor of this salad place - it's absolutely gorgeous. The prices are a little on the high side and the salad didn't really wow me... in fact it was a little bit of a struggle to finish it because it was on the dry side. And you can't really create your own so you have to go with what they put in there and that's never the way to go when it comes to salad. I asked for a little sprinkle of something I saw sitting out that looked like it was for self-service (and I could easily have sprinkled it myself because it was right there), and the dude said "sorry that isn't included in your salad price, it's for other dishes." Well thanks for taking my money and being jerks. What really downgrades them from a four-star place to a three-star place was the service. There weren't too many friendly people in here and the girl serving me seemed to want to make no attempt to hide the fact that she really wasn't a big fan of me. Sneering and snapping at me everytime I asked something. The service here honestly received two stars if that and the product is between 3 and 4. I'll give them a 3 overall.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
This is the cutest spot in Allston/Brighton! I recently discovered this place after having a craving for a nice refreshing açaí bowl. It is right on commonwealth in a great area and has the nicest staff!! For the food: I got an açaí bowl and my friend got the Green Planet. I am very particular about açaí bowls but this place did not disappoint! It tastes very fresh and organic while also retaining some sweet flavor. My friend was also very pleased with the Green Planet bowl!

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Love love love this place!! I was in awe of how beautiful the interior is upon walking in. Lots of tables and bar space by the window and in the middle in front of the kitchen area. I came around 1pm and it was packed. This place is right by BU so it was full of students eating and studying. You order food from the counter, they give you a letter to put on your table and you seat yourself anywhere. They bring the food right out to you. Everything is pricey, but it is expected from a place like this. A green juice, grains bowl, and pitaya bowl set me back $30. Definitely not cheap but everything tasted amazing!! GREEN GODDESS - lemon garlic brown rice, broccoli, kale, avocado, tofu, light ginger tamarind sauce. It sounds kind of boring but it is the most delicious bowl I've ever had. Brown rice is usually bland but the rice in this bowl is SO good and garlicy and slightly lemony. I want to eat their rice forever. However I think they could have amped up their broccoli and tofu. Their broccoli I think was steamed. Their is that ginger sauce but I wish that it was roasted and slightly charred. I guess you can't do much with tofu. Maybe have more sauce on the side to dip the tofu in? GO GREEN JUICE - refreshing, and slightly tart from the green apple. It's so good! Any juice you get, you will see some separation, so you have to stir your juice every so often. However it is served in such a small glass. For $7 I would want a little more juice.

Dan H.

Yelp
Life Alive is good clean and delicious. From the outside, I thought this place would be a pretentious granola hipster place. I went here for breakfast and had the breakfast hash and cold brew. The food and coffee were delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The decor is on the bohemian side, but that is to be expected. Overall, Life Alive is a great place to have some good, clean, hipster food, without the pretentiousness.

Gauravi P.

Yelp
I can only rate on experience that I had and my experience was 4 stars. The newest Life Alive located near BU is beautiful. It is spacious and has a very colorful, inviting decor. There is PLENTY and a variety of different seating which is nice because the Cambridge Life Alive was a bit cramped when busy. I will point out that the menu at this Life Alive differs from its sisters and brothers. Although it does have familiar smoothies and one or two similar bowls, the majority of the menu is newer. Also, plate and bowl size options have been eliminated from the menu as other Life Alives have. I wasn't too happy about this. I do appreciate the CBD additions though. There are truffles and coffee options given with CBD. I want to come back and try a latte with CBD. I ordered: 1.) Green curry with forest rice 2.) Chocolate matcha truffle with CBD The green curry, although beautifully presented, was too sweet and not spicy at all. I wish the tofu was more crispy and kept on the top of the curry, instead of mixed in and soggy. The truffle however was delicious! All in all, I would certainly come here again to hang out maybe just for coffee or a quick one off bite. The service here although a bit sleepy was helpful and friendly.

Yelp
Life Alive, I am such a fan!! A friend and I came here for a light afternoon snack and ended up going with the acai bowls, which seems to be a crowd favorite. And I get why its deem a fav, it's SO DELICIOUS. Whoever came up with the phrase "you eat with your eyes" is so right because this dish is so visually appealing that it makes something as simple as a smoothie bowl look like a high-end dish. My bowl was literally so pretty that I didn't want to dig in! But good thing I did, because it was really refreshing. I love the blend of the various tastes and textures of the toppings with the perfectly creamy acai puree. & For an acai bowl, it was actually super filling and was able to hold me over for a good few hours. Since my bowl was so good, it makes me even more excited to come back and try their other menu items. Everything is organic, fresh, and healthy, which makes me love this place even more. And can we talk about the aesthetics of this place? I love the laid back and modern bohemian vibes here--it's right up my alley!! I couldn't help myself from taking pictures of different corners of the place because the quirky details from the plants, signage, numerous seating options, and décor make it so charming. It's a great place to catch up with friends or get some work done. Aesthetic, healthy and delicious are all qualities I need from a place--so I cannot recommend this place enough!! Also be on the lookout for some cool events that they host here. When I went, they were advertising a truffle making class for only $10, which sounded like a lot of fun! Life Alive, I'll see you soon :-)

Victoria C.

Yelp
Usually wouldn't go for vegan/vegetarian food places, but this place far surpasses my taste buds for it! And I love the space and atmosphere with the different tables, booths, and comfy couches you can plop yourself, have a meal, and study away for the day! It's a great location especially around BU campus, so it's convenient to go to. You order at the register and take a cute little element sign to the table you'd like to sit at and they bring the food to you. I ordered the mushroom udon and a pineapple smash smoothie. Loved both of them and would definitely get them again, but would also love to try out so many other food items and acai bowls on the menu! The udon was perfectly cooked to be chewy and the broth had plenty of flavors that accompanied the various forms of mushrooms. The ginger in the pineapple smash gives it a nice kick, but not too overwhelming and the sourness of the lemon works out nicely. I definitely recommend coming here and trying out their drinks!

Honestly, just what I needed after an exercised-filled sunny November Sunday. The food was delicious and fun to look at. Even though everything was fresh and healthy, it was also tasty and filling! I needed a good nap after this meal. The amount of the food was quite sizable for the price, as well. My only negative would be the Blue Dream drink wasn't much more than milk dyed blue. Nut sure what the health benefits are of blue algae, if there are any at all. Might be a good addition to their menu to highlight the health benefits of their different signature items!

Yelp
OBSESSED with their forbidden kale bowl. I've been here twice in a month and can't wait until I go back. They have a pretty big menu of bowls, salads, and soups. They are very accommodating to substitutions and adjustments to your orders and are very patient! After you order, they give you a sign that you bring to your table and someone will bring your food out to you. The design inside is beautiful. Very comfortable couches, lots of tables. However, if you come during lunch it will be difficult to find a place to sit since it tends to be pretty crowded. The presentation of the dishes is soooo pretty. And the food does not disappoint your taste buds either. Very flavorful and you feel great after eating it :)

Yelp
Easily one of the best organic cafes. Mostly things are allergy friendly too which is a major plus as someone who can't eat dairy OR gluten. Wicked expensive so it's more of a treat than a regular thing. Vibe doesn't feel too pretentious which is always nice for a cafe like this. 10000% recommend!

Yelp
The new Life Alive sure is pretty....unfortunately the positives stop there. Even the easiest to please among our group was left dissatisfied. The woman who took our order seemed impatient when I asked for it to be repeated back to me. Since i've worked in food service for many years, I know this is the easiest way to prevent mistakes. Since she did not want to do this, the man who eventually made my smoothie had to ask me to clarify my order twice after making it incorrectly. Two of my friends ordered the blue magic smoothies, I am not sure why but neither cup was filled completely, almost as if someone had already taken a few sips..... The blue magic smoothies were also SPICY and contained cayenne, which was an unpleasant surprise. My first 2 choices of grain bowls were sold out (at noon), the smoothie I received tasted like water with a *hint* of fruit. The whole process was super slow. Small portions, high prices and POOR QUALITY CONTROL. We ended up stopping at Chipotle as none of us were left satisfied.....

Yelp
Ate in here last Sunday afternoon. Was very quiet since BU students were not back yet. Was surprised we were not asked for vax cards (1 day after the new Boston & Brookline mandates). Food: 5/5 We got a Thai peanut sutra & an autumn falafel bowl. Both were tasty with a variety of flavors. Price is a bit expensive for the food/portions, but to be expected from this type of place. Service: 4/5 Our cashier didn't know the menu well, and as a result, they messed up the 1 modification to 1 bowl. However, they remade it quickly after mentioning.

Yelp
I completely messed up and ordered at a completely different Life Alive. So when i arrived to pick up my order of course it wasn't there and it was right at closing time 9pm! This employee Grace was unbelievable! She made up my order even though they literately were all packed up. The girl deserves a raise!!! PS the food is unparalleled

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place but there were just so many things wrong with my visit. First, upon walking in I noticed the place had a weird smell (like rotten vegetables) and there were flies buzzing everywhere. The employee at the register was also incredibly rude and impatient with me. I ordered the mushroom udon. I came around late dinnertime and nobody had ordered before I did, but I still waited a very long time for my food. The mushroom udon was probably the worst dish I've had in Boston. The noodles had a starchy texture and were not springy at all. They were super dense and I couldn't fit a noodle on a spoon because it had such a firm texture. The vegetables were all raw which I feel like ruins the concept of a hot noodle soup. The sweet potato in my udon was firm and not pleasant to eat. The udon broth tasted like if La Croix tried to make a mushroom flavored sparkling water and then removed the carbonation. The broth was extremely bland and had an off-putting flavor. The only highlight of the dish was the egg which was perfectly soft. Maybe ordering a noodle soup was the wrong move for a place where people seem to hype up the smoothies... Unfortunately because of the smell and the flies I will not be coming back.

Yelp
The Life Alive is so.darn.beautiful. The setting is so aesthetic, with hanging plants, colorful cushions, and even a cozy hidden back room. Wifi is free and quick, which was perfect for getting work done. The food, however, is a hit or miss for me. Love their green goddess bowl, but I ordered a Thai Peanut Sutra this time, which was just fine. The spicy sauce didn't have a lot of body to it (this sounds pretentious and tryhard lol)--but it just tasted spicy and didn't have much flavor besides the peanut. One of my friends had a broccoli wrap another time a couple years back, and it was literally just broccoli, egg, and cheese in a wrap, and it cost $10 (yikes). It looks like it's still on the menu for breakfast (greens, egg & cheese wrap), but it's now cheaper at $6. In any case, I still really love and appreciate this café, just be aware that some dishes are so-so. I will still be coming back because of the gorgeous setting and healthy food.

Yelp
I love Life Alive, but this particular location needs to step up their game. The quality of the food here is extremely inconsistent. I order the Green Goddess a lot. Sometimes they nail it, but at least 30% of the time, there are problems. Today, I got an undersauced bowl topped with giant chunks of broccoli stems, inedible kale stems, and brown, overcooked kale. Not sure why this location is worse than the other locations, but I really wish they would address their quality issues.
