Thank you for making cinnamon buns on the last day! It was the farewell that I didn't know I needed. We had pumpkin pie and hot cross buns over the holidays, and we have quiche, pie, and scalloped potatoes squirreled away in the freezer. I'm sure there will be fresh grief when those are gone, but at least your food joy will linger a little longer in our home ♥️ Happy retirement and thanks again for all of the deliciousness! Ps – please write a cookbook

The best pie. I crave it. The filling combinations are always fun and unique and delicious. The crust is great. It's not too sweet. I never really liked pie until I had theirs. The other baked goods can be hit or miss. The brown sugar fudge was amazing. I don't love how they leave the bread out on the customer side of the cash as it doesn't seem sanitary but the pies are in boxes behind the counter. They make the poor cashier do all the drinks so it's a bit slow at times. But worth it.

I ordered 2 pies yesterday, apple and pumpkin. I called 24 hours before and they had them ready for pick up! They were delicious! Everyone loved them. Not too sweet and you can taste the high quality ingredients! The services was great as well! Will definitely go again to try other things! Thank you

2025-10-02-Stopped in for a break this morning & tried the Very Berry Scone. It was fresh, not too sweet and quite tasty. I like scones made with minimal sugar, or savory, that are not dry. I was told the coffee is good here, may try that the next time. 2025-Oct- I did have the coffee here on a follow-up visit but that was not what I like & I had heartburn afterwards. I grind my own beans at home & use an espresso blend, so I'm used to strong coffee. It could be that the coffee sits on the burner, which makes for more acid.

Lovely spot to take in the essence of the community of Old Ottawa South. Great to see them share their space to support other local businesses. I love their london fog scone. Highly recommend this spot, divas!

I called ahead to ask if they could make a traditional key lime pie for my husbands birthday dinner. Paid $26 for cheap crisco pie crust and a filing that was 90% whip cream and 10% I have no idea - didn’t taste at all like what I asked for. I would have been better off buying a homemade pie for $13 from the Parkdale market - the pies at the big busy veggie stand are unreal. My advice to the team here is just say no if you can’t make a custom pie when people call in. Traditional key lime pie has a graham cracker crust and tastes like lime, for the record.

Google said they still served breakfast but sadly no. And Easter weekend was too busy with selling pies to make a breakfast sandwich (only fare left from breakfast menu). Our group had scones instead.

Came here for a bit of a snack after work. I ended up buying way too many things because everything looked phenomenal. Their glazed sour dough doughnut is easily the best donut I’ve ever had! I was surprised to see that they have homemade pop tarts on their menu, I HAD to try this since I love pop tarts! While this item isn’t anything out of this world, it was still very good and it definitely scratched the itch! Very nice dining room with beautiful oak tables (I think it’s oak, idk wood). The coffee is average, but this place doesn’t seem to be about coffee. You come here for pastries! Very much recommend, service was fine, atmosphere is nice although the loud fridge buzzing at the entrance keeps me from writing 5 stars! I’ll definitely be back! Fantastic job to everyone who works here!

Yelp
So I was walking on Bank St and passed by Life of Pie. They had a sign out front listing the offerings for the day. I saw "London Fog scones" and so I had to go in! Lol. The place was packed on a Friday afternoon (around 1pm). I ordered the London Fog scone to go ($2.50). It was big and puffy and had a smear of icing on top. I was a bit surprised to see actual tea leaves inside. Truth be told, I wasn't too keen about this. I prefer to have the tea flavour, but not bits of actual tea leaves in my desserts. The tea flavour actually wasn't as pronounced as I would have expected considering the presence of the leaves. I was a bit disappointed in this regard because I love potent tea flavours. However, the scone itself was well made, and I think I would enjoy other flavours more (like maybe a savoury one such as cheddar). Service was nice enough, and the cafe is cute. I think it would be a nice place for a date or to catch up with friends. It's in Old Ottawa South. Street parking only.

Yelp
We received a bunch of Life of Pie goodies from my parents through Givopoly. They live out of town and wanted to send us food after I had the baby, which we really appreciated because we couldn't manage or even think about making food for ourselves during the crazy first few weeks. We received double berry and brown sugar and raisin scones, a broccoli and cheddar quiche, a raspberry crisp pie, a tray of brownies, and a little orange teddy bear with a card (I don't think this one was from Life of Pie). My favourites were the brown sugar and raisin scones and the brownies, even though I only had maybe one and a half brownies before my husband ate them all. They were perfectly moist, not overly sweet, and super addictive. Both types of scones were great (and huge!), but I hadn't had raisins in forever, so I enjoyed the couple different kinds they used and they were generous with the amount in the scones. It was sweeter than the berry one, which I normally wouldn't like, but I could've eaten them all week. They had such a great sort of toastier outside and were still moist inside, even after a few days of sitting on the counter. They didn't even need heating or toasting! I wouldn't have bought scones if we went there in person, since they're not usually a go-to baked good of mine, so I'm glad we got to try them and I'd definitely order them in the future. There were instructions on the box on how to heat the quiche and the pie. The quiche was a nice, light breakfast with fluffy eggs and a tasty crust. I would've liked more cheddar for more of that cheesy flavour, but I'm cheese obsessed so I think it has a regular amount and I'm just greedy for cheese. The pie was the same for the crust. I wasn't keen on all of the raspberry seeds and I wished the crisp past stayed crispy, since it sort of absorbed the sugar from the jammy filling and didn't crisp back up with baking or broiling. It was very, very sweet, but some frozen coco whip on top helped and some vanilla ice cream probably would've been better if we had some. What a great way to try Life of Pie for the first time!

Yelp
This place is really cute, the staff is very nice, and I want to support local bakeries... but what I've tried here just isn't great. The first time I had a slice of strawberry-rhubarb pie - there wasn't much flavor and the bottom crust was a soggy mess. The next time I bought a maple cookie, which was overbaked and had an unbearably strong baking soda taste. It was edible, but if I had baked it myself, I wouldn't have felt comfortable giving it to friends even for free, let alone think about selling it. Not a one-star because if you are okay with mediocre food and just need a place to eat some baked goods and maybe read a book, this place will do just fine. But the majority of us probably just want some good pie.

Yelp
Maybe I ordered the wrong things on the menu, but we went there around 1:30PM on a Saturday afternoon. It was past lunch time but they were still serving brunch. So we got a breakfast sandwich and a quiche breakfast. For $5 I thought the sandwich was a joke. It looked like one of those "junior" options in a fast food restaurant. For $8.5 the quiche was pretty small and basic. It came with a side salad which was just a mixed salad from the grocery store. Combine those 2 with a cup of coffee and for almost $20 we got food that got neither of us even remotely full. The interior is nothing spectacular. Some of the chairs looked like they might break if someone heavier sits on them. My review is based on whatever I tried. Who knows if they make the best pies ever(they have "pie" in the title after all). I don't think I'll go back and try.

Yelp
I work in the neighbourhood. If I just want a coffee, I go to Bridgehead; the coffee's better. But if I want a snack, I hit Life of Pie, where the coffee's still very good, but the scones are much, much better, and bigger, and there's more selection. And the coffee and scone combo special at Life of Pie is great; I can walk away for less than $5, whereas it's now pushing $7 at Bridgehead. Other than the coffee and scones, I've only had the daily soup a couple of times at Life of Pie (perfectly good, but not particularly memorable), so I can't comment on much else.

Yelp
I came here today and the cashier was quite rude to my friend. She treated her differently than when she spoke to me (a white-passing individual) and I'm ashamed to see ignorance alive and present within the Ottawa community. When she took her order, she was snappy and brief and I was extremely shocked at the different approach she took to me when it was my turn in line. Please take the time to educate your employees on basic respect!

Yelp
A solid three. mediocre but great, I'll still go again. Definitely recommend the quiche, it's absolutely delicious, alongside all other food items. the baked goods and the savoury items all good, however would not recommend the london fogs, as they do not taste like a London fog. but the tea is all your average collection, and would recommend any. Might I add that all of their non-dairy milk's kirtle inside of the coffee which is also very average. Great location, great study space, great environment. Have been many times and will continue to go, but just know it's pretty mediocre.

Yelp
The desserts a absolutely delicious and I've never been disappointed by any of them, their prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is really pleasant. They also have board games so you can come in with friends and hangout. They also do full meals and non dessert food items of which I've only tried one. It was decent but nothing special, would try more before coming to a conclusion on the quality of them. Only complaint is that their cutlery had a gross metallic taste that took away from the food.

Yelp
Nice place with a vegan breakfast actually safe to eat for my son with severe milk, egg and nut allergies! My breakfast, the brioche French Toast with fruit compote was excellent! Thanks and keep up the good work!

Yelp
I decided to finally try this bakery for lunch after having driven by a few times and I love that they sell Bez GF Bakery products. I got a tomato basil soup along with a smoked cheddar jalapeño scone and of course had to try a piece of pie so I got a slice of blueberry crisp pie. I was disappointed since it came from a scratch bakery that the soup didn't have that richness I expected seeing as it's from a bakery but it still was good and hot. The scone was very tasty but unfortunately a little under cooked in the middle, not enough to make it inedible but definitely took away from the enjoyment. The pie was quite good - not the soft buttery flakey crust I expected but it was very good. I won't be running back to try this place but If I was in the area and needed a bite I would give it another chance.

Yelp
Very friendly, great snacks. The coffee is good. I go there several times a week to meet clients or stop in for a break w/ my wife. My clients always enjoy what they order too.

Yelp
Went before the lunch crowd on a Monday - quiet sunny space with solid wood tables and chairs, some couches. A very friendly person taking orders and helping with suggestions. Tasted - roast beef panini, lemon-cranberry scone, coffee (Americanos). All good. The sweet caramelized onion in the panini, the "tailored for panini" bread, the just right sugar-lemon balance in the scone. Very good coffee. Made me wish I could have another when I was back at work. I can see how this space can get crowded - it was already filling up as we were getting done. Many seemed to be regulars. Perhaps a testament to its place in the neighbourhood. Walked away with some frozen quiche and soup. Waiting to see how those will taste.

Yelp
We met up with our daughter for lunch on the weekend and decided to try this place out. For starters, all of the tables were either occupied or dirty. My daughter asked about getting the grilled cheese without all of the extras on it and was told they couldn't do that. Do they have the sandwiches pre-made? I've never had an issue getting things taken off of a sandwich before! So she decided to share some French Toast with my wife. My wife requested an extra plate as they were sharing the order, and instead of a dining plate she got a little side plate. On top of that, they had ordered some whipped cream for their meal which did not come with it, and when they politely mentioned this, they were told "No you didn't". My food was okay....I've had better. The French toast was okay. The service and customer service attitude was deplorable. We will not go back.

Yelp
Had the breakfast here last weekend. The bacon is very good!! It's sourced locally from a super secret location. I had it with toast, 2 eggs, potatoes. Their bread is excellent. Kids had chocolate waffles and they were fantastic!! Tasted like waffled brownies. There was whipped cream and maple syrup on the side but no need for syrup. I think the bacon and waffles are my 2 favorite things here. Their chocolate pecan pie, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate beer cupcakes with cream cheese icing (not on the menu) are fantastic. They have had some issues with consistency in pie crust and savoury pie consistency which are the only reasons for docking 1 star. But customer service is great if you tell them.

Yelp
I love pie and I'm very picky about how it is made and this pie is so good I decided not to bake my own for a party. Good pie!
