"Each 50-minute class at this weight-lifting studio tucked away on one of the quainter streets below 14th street is designed to chisel and strengthen. The classes run the gamut—there’s Legs & Butt, Chest & Biceps, Full Body, Legs & Shoulders—and the playlists are mood-boosting mashups of radio hits that make the dumbbell drills fly by. The instructors are thoughtful, patient, and, of course, enviously toned. "

Love the energy of Liftonic! The workout, while intense, is so rewarding. The instructors really encourage you through the workout, and provide the upbeat vibe needed to keep pushing. Scott, Sylvie, and Hannah are such treasures to me as they’re best hypemen in the world!

Google
Great workouts and trainers! Helped me improve my form and avoid injuries. I wish they could open more locations in other states!

Bruh, do you even lift? If you don't go to Liftonic, I doubt it. Group weight training is going to be the next craze. I don't think NYC realizes what a monster this place is. This is the most underrated, yet effective fitness class in NYC. Weightlifting has never been as intensive yet fun. The lighting is perfect, the exercises are simple, and the movements are super slow. Radan / the trainers will guide you every step of the way using creative dumbell / bodyweight exercises. As a result, using even a lighter weight will make you super sore. And for women worried about bulking up, don't worry, it won't happen. You don't just magically wake up one day looking like Arnold. And if you do, stop lifting. The leg/butt day here is the best lower body workout in the city. Across 6-7 exercises, you will work out your butt in ways you or your therapist didn't even think possible. Get ready to be sore for a few days. Each day is a different muscle group. I highly recommend coming before this place gets discovered by the people in Murray Hill.

Google
innovative and low key studio for weight lifting classes in a group environment. Nicely spaced out benches and plenty of weights. Instructor gets projected on multiple tv screens in case your class is full. We had a trial class with Radan who not only knew his stuff but corrected everyone to maintain their best form to get the exercises right. There’s music, lockers, and a couple of changing rooms. Nice atmosphere in this subterranean space and location is very convenient for various subway train

Google
Liftonic has some of the best strength training classes in the city! I really love being able to just follow along and get in a great workout without having to plan it myself. The instructors are all really encouraging and friendly, and their customer service around buying classes is great. Highly recommend if you want to get into weight lifting, or already have some experience but just want a tough workout without thinking too much about it.

Google
Second time to this place through classpass. Both male and female instructors very nice and knowledgeable. I have more motivation working out in this class than alone at the gym. This class really beat me up in a good way. I definitely felt sore the day after the workout. I love the full body class the most. I like working out with a group in the dark with a mirror. 10/10 would go back again!

Google
Liftonic is amazing! I try to make it between 2-4 times a week. All the instructors are thorough, fun and personable. If you are thinking about strength training, try it out here! I started well into my 40s and the results are awesome. I see a difference and most importantly feel a difference!

Google
Liftonic is one of my favorite studios in NYC! I’ve taken several instructors (Hilary, Courtney, Radan) and I love how unique the classes are every time. They all have different styles of teaching and they are super motivating!!! I always leave the class drenching in sweat and feeling stronger. Great weight training class for all levels! I would definitely recommend Liftonic to anyone interested in learning about proper form and being challenged!!

Yelp
Great coaches, clean facilities, reasonable pricing. Unique offering as the only full weightlifting group class in the city.

Yelp
took a guest class with a friend and loved it! Sylvia was a fantastic teacher, making sure she was available to help with form and questions, while also being very efficient and clear with her form directions. I also really appreciated her compassionate eyes upon me as I struggled lol (it wasn't pity or anything, just a, yo, I see that, you're doing fine, vibe. :)) I am glad I brought earplugs tho--it's a bit loud if you're sensitive to that kinda stuff. (I'm the kind of person who brings earplugs with me everywhere though, so YMMV).

Yelp
1/ i appreciated the energy of the instructor. She brought a fun and positive attitude to the class. Always nice to see Wasn't a fan of the lighting. Seemed more club vibe w loud music than a place where you can see the ppl and legitimately coach. 2/ in the middle of the workout they add in some additional exercises. I wasn't as much of a fan of that, rather know exactly what I will be doing vs having a spontaneous add in. Not necessarily bad but just not my thing. 3/ the exercise choices weren't bad , but I thought the timed component for some of the exercises wasn't enough to perform a legitimate working set. For ex: the 45s DB row, or 20s/side, was too fast (unless you're trying to move the weight w speed) . I didn't think that was the goal w this class 4/ all in all , for a place that markets itself as a strength/hypertrophy hybrid w focussed coaching. I thought they fell short.

Yelp
Got to try this spot out through ClassPass. Liftonic offers a great workout in perhaps a slightly under appreciated or under served workout mode these days, as it is heavily weight-based. I enjoyed the intense workout and truly appreciated the encouraging vibe and great workout tips from the instructor, Scott. The workout spot is ample but could be better organized--the exercises require benches and floor space and occasionally I didn't know where to go or feel like I had sufficient floor room between benches. Room is downstairs and ran a bit hot, and changing space is limited. Still and all, the workout was great and I'd definitely go back for more. Instructor was fantastic--encouraging and helpful.

Yelp
I attended a bicep, chest, abs class. We did a good balance of exercises for those muscles. We were told to get 4 different sets of weights to use for different exercises. The instructor made good use of the music, as it was very dynamic. We exercised to the beat and also to his counts. It was a large class of about 20 people, so you won't be getting much individual attention on form. The instructor wears a mic but sometimes the music is so loud you still can't hear some of what he says. But there are plenty of TVs mounted on the ceiling, so even if you're in the back you can usually see what new exercise the instructor is showing. It's a very clean studio. After class, everyone was using the wet wipes to wipe their benches, mats, etc. There are 2 small changing rooms and a large bathroom. They provide bathroom products such as dry shampoo, wet wipes, hair ties, and a hairdryer. There's also clothes racks to hang your coats and an open locker cubicle to put your bags.

Yelp
Found this studio through ClassPass and took my first class yesterday. I absolutely loved it! It was tough in the best way. No cardio just weigh training but you get to select the weight you're comfortable with for each exercise and the instructor is very attentive on your form. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Great gym for those that want structured strength training where they take you through the tempo and reps needed and forces you to reach hypertrophy. The core and ab session also burns. This is a good class for those strength fiends and those that hate cardio. The biggest con for me was getting the right dumbbells. Getting right set of dumbbells feels literally like the Hunger Games. You had to get there early enough to get first dibs on the dumbbells you want and need. Or else you'll be left with over 65 lbs or under 17 lbs. and for a chest press session that's either going to kill you or underwhelm you. I wish they enforced for clients to only get 1 or 2 sets of dumbbells at most or tailor the workout to only force folks to only use 2 sets of dumbbells. I was seeing other clients in the class literally take 8 pairs of dumbbells of what seems like the whole rack of dumbbells when they only use like 1 or 2 pairs out of those. Especially when the room is dark, it's quite awkward to ask other people to share the dumbbells with you and also having to wipe the shared dumbbell between sets takes time. Overall great gym, but the dumbbell Hunger Games turned me off a little bit.

Yelp
Liftonic: What a beautiful way to repent your dietary sins. I took Wednesday's 12:30 abs and core class with Troy. Troy is a fun, upbeat instructor who's exercises are simple but highly effective. I haven't worked out rigorously in months. This is the perfect way to ease back into exercising. After a short warm-up, we did 3 super sets of exercises involving body weight on the floor, dumbbells and a flat bench. When I looked at my watch, there was two minutes left. 5 stars!

Yelp
I have only taken one class here so far but wow I love it here! Front desk is so so kind, and it's a small but very efficient use of space. The atmosphere is very dark and interesting, and it makes me feel secure that I am not being judged for being a lifting noob. There's all different varying types of weights and I think the equipment and station set up is awesome and allows me plenty of room to choose a different weight for each rep if I desire. The instructor was knowlegable and the class structure (legs, butt) really allowed me to focus on my lower body The instructor goes around the room a lot less to check and correct form then I would have thought (but she certainly came to me a few times since my form was off a few times) Regardless, I can't wait to take more classes here.

Yelp
Lauren kicked my ass in the full body + abs class yesterday night. I was a guest of my friend who goes often and she tried to warn me that this was no regular gym but I sure did learn. I must return! Thanks for having me, Liftonic!
google avatar

Joy S.

Yelp
Josh at the front desk is great. Great customer service, great looks, and a fitness expert. The class is nice and dark so nobody can see that you have no idea what you're doing if you are new. You can watch the instructor very well because the cameras film from above and there's TVs that show the moves across the studio. Great workout. Def felt the pain RIGHT AFTER.

Yelp
I tried this place on fitreserve and was at first taken aback by the all black walls and basement location--then realized this beat-driven lifting class is kind of cultish in a good way. it makes the repetition of lifting much more entertaining and there are numerous weights to choose from. bathroom and changing rooms but no shower (which is fine because you won't sweat much since it's more about slower lifting). i came back three more times and will continue to mix it into my routine!

Yelp
This is my favorite group weight lifting class in the city as the classes here actually keep you motivated and engaged for the entire 50 minutes. Classes focus on 2-3 areas or are full body focused, and broken down into 3 sets. The numerous TV screens help you see the instructor regardless of which bench you're on and help with keeping proper form. I recommend grabbing a bench towards the front for the best view (doesn't matter if you're new, no one is watching you). There aren't any showers and there is only one restroom, so plan accordingly. There are two changing rooms, but there can be a wait sometimes, so either arrive 15-20 minutes before class or change beforehand. The do have small lockers with built in locks and cubbies, in addition to a coat rack. Liftonic is a great alternative to lifting in a traditional gym -- highly recommend!

Yelp
My wife and I were staying in NYC for the month of Oct and wanted to keep up with our workouts. We found Liftonic a short 5 min walk from our apartment in the west village. Both thought the concept sounded great and our initial conversations with the team were warm and welcoming. We started attending classes and soon were were getting 3 to 4 sessions in a week. Can't say enough about the team. Not only did all the instructors soonknow us by our first name, we quickly came to feel part of the family. As for the workouts, can't say enough. My wife and I are 61 and while we regularly exercise, one thing we have found with other places is that their workouts are geared toward a younger set. We never felt that with Liftonic. The classes were certainly fast paced and comprehensive but well structured. With the encouragement and guidance of the instructors, it was fun to meet the challenge. We left every workout sweaty and energized. Lastly because of the breadth of the daily schedule, it was rarely a problem to find a class that worked for our schedule. We've returned to our LI house but definitely intend to re-up with Liftonic in the new year when we're resettled back in NYC. Thank you Radan and team.

Yelp
I absolutely loved my experience at Liftonic. I was previously working with a personal trainer at a gym and decided it was getting a little expensive to be manageable. I found out about Liftonic through Classpass and thought that it might be my solution to not using a trainer anymore. My instructor was the owner, Radan, he was so welcoming and made sure I knew what to expect from the class. The work out is set up in 3 different sections with 2/3 exercises in those sections and 2/3 sets of the section. In between sections, there are more exercises (planks, commandos, situps). Ex Warm up Section 1 (3 Sets): exercise 1 (12 reps), exercise 2 (12 reps) Section 2 (2 Sets): exercise 1 (12 reps), exercise 2 (12 reps), exercise 2 (12 reps) Section 3 (3 Sets): exercise 1 (12 reps), exercise 2 (12 reps) Cool down It honestly felt like I was working out in a group training session with a personal trainer. The class makes you want to push yourself but doesn't make you feel like you can't do something. I left the gym feeling strong and also called my friends to tell them they should come with me next time! Any skill level can do this class because you pick which weights are right for you. I stayed in the 5-12 range. The best and most genius part of the entire experience was the TVs above the benches. When doing chest presses you can see your instructor and how they are doing the set. Word to the morning class goers: You will get sweaty and there are no showers. Plan accordingly!

Yelp
This has to be one of my all-time favorite workout classes! It is all lifting based - but you don't need to know anything about lifting to get a good work out in. The instructors are all top notch but my favorite has to be Troy Brooks - he has amazing energy and goes around to correct each person making sure you are getting a good workout in and not hurting yourself. Each class focuses on 1 or 2 areas and they break it down into 3 sets - your weight for each exercise is listed on the screens when you walk in but you can always ask your instructor. They have screens above each bench so even if you are in the way back you can still see what the instructor is doing it. Very low key changing area, id come already dressed if i was you. There are lockers but no locks so bring your own or just put yourstuff to the cubbys on the side
google avatar

Pattie L.

Yelp
What a workout!! Hands down you need try a workout here. It's mostly upper body with hand weights and some things using your own body weight but there are also squats and core thrown in there. Each person gets their own bench and there are TVs in front of pretty much each bench so you can watch the instructor from your position on the Bench especially when you're laying down to make sure your technique is good. The facility is downstairs, when you walk in you check in on a tablet then get changed in a changing room if needed. Lockers are provided with locks as are towels and water. All in all great place, great instructor and great workout!

Yelp
I have been going to liftonic for two months almost everyday and My body curve has been tremendously changed. I have become slimmer but stronger.

Yelp
I DIG. 4 stars because the one class I took (chest + shoulders) felt it was lacking something to really push me. Not enough cardio maybe? I get that liftonic is a weight lifting studio though. The bathroom also smells likes excessive BO to the point where I had to hold my nose. Maybe fix that? The sweet lady who helped me check in is the type of person that restores faith in humanity. She has short white hair and is a little older and I LOVE HER. I don't know her name, but I'll make sure to find out on my next visit. She even made it a point to remember my friend's name so she can guide her to me upon her check in. Our instructor was very clear and kind. I love the TVs up top so we can see the instructor when laying flat for exercises. Not sure what others mean by great or very loud music. Music is low and actually lacking, but my Noodle arms the next day made up for it. I'm very much looking forward to taking more classes at this studio.

Yelp
I've been going here for the past few weeks and in love! this is the place for you if you've ever been intimated by the weight room or didn't know where to get started on what exercises to do to build muscle. Each instructor has their own style, but you get the same from each class, lots of great exercise, form instruction and weight ranges. The great thing is that they push you to always increase the weights, which is how you build lean muscle weight!

Yelp
I've had a Personal Trainer, on and off, for the past 10 years so I know a good trainer/coach/instructor when I see one. The instructors at Liftonic are top-notch. They're motivating, attentive, tough, and most importantly -- focused on form. I often cringe at the sight of people in large workout classes, but not here. This class kicks my butt EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's that good-sore when you push your body. I'm addicted and have brought multiple coworkers with me! Liftonic provides the type of workout I would get with my own personal trainer, but with a fraction of the cost. Highly recommend if you're looking to be challenged and get in incredible shape.

Yelp
Awesome workout and concept - I've been coming for a few months now and hope to continue! But the lifting volume can feel excessive sometimes - details below: The Good: -Huge range of weights -Thoughtfully planned, challenging workouts -Radan is an excellent instructor, and very focused on form The Not So Good: -If you are new to weight lifting, or have any injuries, definitely modify the movements. After one arms and abs class, I couldn't straighten my elbows for a good week. We did literally over 100 reps of bicep curls that class. Why?? -"Active rest" kind of seems counterproductive when you are trying to lift heavy weights As long as you're careful, you'll leave exhausted and sore but not injured. I noticed they added a basics class recently so maybe I'll stick to those.
google avatar

Ozzy M.

Yelp
This gym is great! You go in there and get your ass kicked by an instructor for a whole hour! They give you clear instructions on the exercises and encourage you by walking around and pushing you and making sure you don't give up! It's a nice atmosphere with neon lights and good music to keep you motivated. If you want to get in shape this place is for you! Do it and keep doing it till you get the results you are looking for!

Yelp
The instructors and classes here are amazing. I've been coming here for 3 months now and my body looks the best it ever has. Each workout is extremely challenging but self-adjustable... use the weights you want. Instructors are so good it feels like I have my own personal trainer next to me. This is a weight training class that really sculpts your body. Exercises range from 2-3 sets of 12 reps each ... and in between sets we do active rest periods (planks, moving planks, push-ups, core work) to keep the body engaged. No breaks (except the occasional water sip) during this class. I never thought I'd consider a plank a "break," but now I look forward to them, LOL. The beginning of each month starts out a new series of workouts, so if you come consistently, you can raise your weights each week and push yourself harder to build on the week before. I LOVE the fact that we do active rest in between sets. It makes all the difference! Favorite place in NYC to work out.

Yelp
Took an 11am class with Scott. I was running semi-late, walked in around 10:58 and the very nice woman at the front desk was super accomodating and helped me out quickly so thank you for that!! I was able to get a bench closer to the front and the class itself was not jam-packed but most benches were taken. I don't lift regularly but I felt super comfortable with all of the demonstrations and the gym makes it super easy to see what's going on with the tv's up top on every row. One downside I'd say is the size of the waiting/locker area. Beyond that, the class itself was excellent and I'll definitely be back again this week!
google avatar

Mevelyn K.

Yelp
This is a really cute studio focused on lifting with dumbbells. The workout is good and the instructors have good energy. There are TV screens over head everywhere to what the instructor is doing, which is SUPER helpful. It's dark in there so you feel more like your working out on your own. Compared to that group class feeling. They have a decent package of $260ish a month for unlimited classes which isn't bad And they have a complimentary body scan machine every month with that package The locker area is small and a little cluttered and I didn't notice if they had showers
google avatar

Kim M.

Yelp
Everything about this place is fantastic- the instructors, the space, the structure of the classes, the music. I joined here after cancelling my local gym membership and was nervous as I don't really like group classes, but I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone does their own thing and the instructor is VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE and motivational (I've had classes with Troy). It works for all levels- super super fit through to those just starting out or coming back from injury. Wish I had joined sooner!

Yelp
I love this studio! Group weight training isn't common in NYC, but I love that Liftonic has brought it to us in a nice studio setting. Radan is the best trainer and his team is really solid! I am ALWAYS sore after any class, as he challenges you to lift heavy weights and really focus on form. The class is a mix of weight exercises and active rest exercises. Each day is separated into different muscle groups so you know what you'll focus on when you go. Butt & Legs or Arms & Abs days are my favorite. The studio has towels, a water fountain and changing rooms too and each student gets a personal bench and set of free weights. Take Lauren or Radan's class and feel the burn.

Yelp
While visiting in NYC, I took two classes at Liftonic both during off-peak hours. The front desk and instructors were very welcoming and nice. The format of the classes I took were: 3 blocks of supersets (2 exercises back-to-back) repeated 2-3 times with active recovery periods in between each block. Emphasis on the "active" in the recovery, usually core engagement and theraband work for stabilizing muscles. The instructors were good at keeping the class moving and the time really flies by. The front of the room has monitors displaying the program for the class and side or overhead view of the instructor, very helpful for seeing what you're supposed to do when you're in a supine or bent over position. Each person gets their bench. There are dumbbells on the left and right side of the room and recommended weights printed on the program. Both instructors I had were great! Clearly professional and knowledgeable about fitness, weightlifting technique and form. Veronika gave clear instructions and also explained why certain movements were effective, emphasized the tempo and not rushing through the moves to maximize time under tension. Radan's counting is very consistent, has good energy, and engaged with the class without being in-your-face. The programming is an effective workout design. It's nice to see a studio focus exclusively on lifting, as one who dislikes cardio - the packed format does keep your heart rate up. If I were newer to weightlifting, I would find the pace a bit too fast to learn the movements. However, the instructors are attentive to newbies and good form. My only nit is the class price is expensive for relatively simple exercises I could do myself at the gym. However, the community aspect and quality of instruction is motivating if you're new to lifting or need an extra push. I'd definitely take another class again if I'm in NY!
google avatar

Phileas F.

Yelp
Great workout - and great instructors. The instructors really seem to key in on who wants attention and guidance (and help with form, etc.) and who wants to be 'left alone.' Even in a group class, it feels like everyone is getting personal attention and most importantly, an excellent workout. There are plenty of weights so you never have to worry about using something too heavy or light. The one thing that would make it better is if they had showers. - makes it tough to workout before work or at lunch.

Yelp
I discovered Liftonic through Classpass and was hooked after my first class. I am a cardio junkie and find lifting/strength training to be intimidating. However, with Radan's coaching and guidance, I felt right at ease. I now utilize what I learn at Liftonic to my workout routine at the gym. Favorite classes are definitely lower body (I couldn't walk for two days), and his arms and abs class. Both are challenging, and will leave you feeling sore in places you didn't think were possible. But you'll walk away from each class super satisfied, knowing you put in work and that you are becoming that much stronger.

Yelp
I've done the whole tour of group fitness in New York and Liftonic is definitely one of my favorite class formats! It's multiple set weight training with a focus on increasing strength by bumping up your weights in later sets so you get to challenge yourself (which I love) and you can definitely see your progress. Then you have "active rest" exercises in between sets of things like planks, push-ups, leg lifts, etc. so you're constantly working out and moving the whole class. I go to Liftonic on the days when I want to dedicate myself to really rigorous weight training and focus on working specific body parts (there's legs day or arms and abs or full body, etc). I also like that you get to really focus on just your workout - they come around to check your form and they give great pointers but otherwise there's no sort of interaction with others - just you, your weights, and your bench! Classes are 50 mins long, there's a water machine and towels, changing rooms, and one single stall bathroom. Wish they had more bathrooms and some showers :( Favorite instructors so far: Radan and Nina.

Yelp
Did my first class today and absolutely loved it! Great and clean studio plus equipment, very welcoming atmosphere, amazing instructor (Radan) and super workout. I do a lot of cardio but not enough strength/ weight training and this class was exactly what I was looking for to complement my cardio. It is tough but in a good way. The instructor will give you weight guide lines for each exercise but you can choose what weights works best for you. I felt I had a superb workout and left feeling invigorated. I did the Butt and Legs class but some exercises also worked the core and abs. There are several class options to choose from and I can't wait to do my next class. Highly recommend this studio!

Yelp
I've been weight training for a while and even though i know how to weight train, I find the gym to be boring and inefficient. I don't like waiting for a weight bench or working in with someone else. At this place, you get your own bench and can continuously work through various exercises. The workout is basic weight training with dumbbells interspersed with Pilates inspired core training on the bench. The emphasis in every class is on building a strong core and keeping the abs contracted and the back on the bench during the exercises. This is essential for safely working toward heavier loads. The workouts are changed on a monthly basis and each instructor does their own variation. The price point for a monthly membership is very reasonable and enables consistency. It's a bargain for the availability of parts based (chest/back, arms/abs, legs/butt/shoulders) and full body workouts that are supervised and created by knowledgeable trainers. Furthermore the workout is low impact and can be modified for injuries. This is a great place to develop consistent weight training habits and proper form.

Yelp
The atmosphere of a basement is not very inspiring, but I enjoy training here!

Yelp
Liftonic- Radam is amazing! He pushes you through and the class goes by really fast. The space is open, with the tv above so you can watch your posture and follow as you are lying down. Butt, legs and full body is one of the best work outs!

Yelp
I like this place for the most but there are definitely some issues that need to be addressed. - 0 amenities. Like they just only kind of figured out their water situation 0 amenities. They have one bathroom that is only lit by one small red light. I feel like I'm in a creepy club bathroom every time I go in. You can't even wash your face in the sink, so it makes morning classes before work impossible unless you live in meatpacking. - Price. For having zero amenities, the price is outrageous. I get that it's more expensive because its small class based, but the pricing is up there with much, much nicer gyms. - Random charges. I noticed a random late fee charge on my account for a day that I never even signed up. I've contacted the gym twice over it with no response. - Classes wildly vary depending on instructor. This is typical of most places, just a good thing to note since there are only a few instructors. - Not organized well. The weights needed throughout the class surround the room in weight order. So if you need a heavier weight in the middle of class, you have to walk through other people's bench area to get to what is needed. Not sure why they don't keep full sets on each side of them room but that's just a thought. ALL that being said, now that I have found the instructors that work well for me/ schedule I do feel like I get a great workout.

Yelp
I go to Liftonic via Classpass and it has become a regular studio in my rotation. If I wasn't capped at 3x per month, I'd gladly find myself there as often as my sore body would allow. It's uncommon to find a studio purely dedicated to weight training and it is a very refreshing alternative to the conventional gym. Each class is non-stop for 50 minutes with a short warm up at the beginning and stretch at the end. The studio itself is underground with a nightclub feel but overall, no frills. There are a few changing rooms, one bathroom and a fair amount of combo-lockers. They also have iPads for quick and easy self-check ins. The studio owner is Radan but I've only taken classes with Liz, whom is super bubbly, sweet and encouraging. I've continuously enjoyed these classes and definitely plan to keep visiting!

Yelp
This place got me over a plateau for sure. I was DEAD after every class. Granted, I had pretty much never touched a weight over 5 lbs before I started, either. So don't be intimidated! This is a completely customizable experience, but you'll be motivated to push yourself, the instructors are all awesome. Definitely try this place out, its a very exciting workout, you'll feel like a champ after its over even if you can barely get down the subway stairs.

Yelp
If you're looking to get strong and learn some strength training techniques, this is an amazing studio for that. The Pro's: - convenient and robust schedule - instructors are CLEARLY in shape and know what they're doing - good for all levels - classes FLY right by! - plenty of equipment - clean - dark room so no one can see your face mid-squat! The Con: - no shower or amenities if you're expecting that... doesn't bother me at all but throwing it out there for those who need that in a workout studio

Yelp
I love everything about this class. I was always into cardio and cycling and wanted something new to build those muscles. The first time I took this class I thought I was dying but it's amazing to see how much I've improved. I love the workout, the routines change frequently enough and it's a challenge every time. I have taken three different instructors (Radan, Liz & Nina) and loved all of their energy. They're super motivating! Recommend this to everyone. What a great workout!

Yelp
While I'm a fan of circuit training and HIIT, I had never done a workout that was purely weights before Liftonic. After taking five classes here through Classpass, I'm a convert. Four of the five have been with Courtney, who's particularly great at helping you get through the Monday end-of-day slump. He's friendly, funny, and mindful of correcting your form as needed. Lauren is also a great instructor; really enjoyed her Arms & Abs class! The facility's clean and spacious, and the time always passes quickly. Definitely think I'll need to buy a package--my Classpass studio maximum isn't enough!

Yelp
I did a drop in here on my last day of a week New York trip, and wish I had come in sooner! What appears at first as a trendy boutique studio with a dark, clublike setting is actually the ribbon tied on a tried and true work out method: well thought-out dumbbell and body weight, superset based strength training led in a group setting with an informative instructor and great energy. My class was led by Scott who was positive, really good at demoing the movements and keeping us flowing and motivated. There's video monitors on the ceiling, letting you follow along with the movements even if you are on the bench. I have a history of working out but also some injuries, and it was easy to modify and set the weights according to my needs, with helpful guidance from Scott on what to use. No gimmicky heart monitors, no dangerous crossfitty motions, just one hour of thorough and potent movements. Check in was easy and the lady running the desk was super friendly. There are lockers, cubbies, changing rooms, and plenty of water. Facility was clean and modern, and the jams were great. I will be back if I'm ever in the village and would definitely go here full time if I lived there.

Yelp
Liftonic is an awesome class for lifting and toning! The studio is clean, modern, welcoming and spacious. I've taken classes with all of the instructors and they all have their own personal touch, but make sure to provide an excellent workout each and every time. After taking one class, I immediately put my ClassPass on hold and signed up for a month of unlimited classes. Definitely worth checking out this studio!

Yelp
Great workout! Each day is amazing. Instructors are great, with good instructions on what you need to do. I leave the class feeling stronger and better. I would come everyday if I could. I highly recommend it! It becomes quite addictive.

Yelp
Great places to go for people who are just starting out in their fitness journey and don't know what to do in terms of weight training. The instructors here are very knowledgeable. They all look very fit, so you know what they're doing really works.

Yelp
For a while I didn't want to write a review because I was afraid people would find out about liftonic and that would make the experience crowded or unbookable. But I've been away from NYC for half a year already and miss Liftonic. The weight lifting concept changed the way I work out now. I think some instructors in nyc can feel cliquey in that it's clear they have favorite students in the class but Radan and Courtney are so down to earth and are happy to meet and chat with new students... will be back this year!

Yelp
I've been a member of classpass for a while now and am so happy i found liftonic. Other than spin, I'm more of a strength conditioning guy. It's hard to find a class that makes you more sore (in a good way) than you've ever been in muscle groups you lift frequently. The active recovery adds another layer that I had never incorporated into my workouts and now I do it every time when I'm lifting at home. I have a steady amount of liftonic classes I purchased through the gym outside of classpass and I intend on keeping it up.
