The Best Bars in Burlington, Vermont | Eater Montreal

"For a groovy cocktail lounge and occasional disco dance parties, head to the Light Club Lamp Shop where house libations and local beers flow and vintage lamps abound. The space is so funky it borders on silly, but the cocktail program is serious." - Heather Platt

Went here for my sister’s 21st birthday and it was a really unique experience. The drinks we got were strong and the DJ played some sort of funky disco music.

Super fun bar! Great ambiance and delicious cocktails. I love the lamps

Google
This place has poetry readings every Monday. The format is a mix: open mic, featured reader(s), open mic. It's a great system, and they get some real talent there, both local and beyond. The atmosphere is, as you might expect, lamp-y. Other nights have other fun stuff, a great community hub attached to a decent restaurant and a sweet music venue. A hidden gem.

Google
One of the most fun bars downtown. They always have great music playing and the light show from the seemingly hundreds of lamps on the ceiling is worth the cover alone. If you're looking for a dance floor that's not as intense as red square, this is the perfect place.

I love this club. Always great music. Wonderful atmosphere! Last night had great convos w friends and strangers alike while listening to super original tunes. Check it out!

This place is a fantastic alternative to some of the noisier, more crowded bars in the area. The lamp-crowded interior has a warm, antique glow and comfortable seating. I go to some local storytelling events there, and the audiences are always friendly and respectful. A really nice spot.

Google
We brought our tea from Radio Bean over to Light Club Lamp Shop and enjoyed locals up on stage reading poetry on a Monday night. Cozy, eclectic atmosphere - I'd never seen so many different lamps all in one place in my life. This place is a gem. I'd recommend a visit.

Extremely cozy atmosphere, great drinks, and live music. Can’t go wrong! Enjoyed a strong drink to the lovely guitar playing of Glenn Roth.

Yelp
This is a must visit. Very cool women owned and operated store. Merchandise is extremely creative and interestingly displayed. I am so happy with my unique, upcyclced purchase. I received so many comments and compliments on my lamp.

Yelp
I was almost going to give LCLS 4 stars because, from an artist's standpoint, it suffers from the plague of Burlington venues that are usually tips based for paying artists...that being said I just love this room too much to not give it the full 5. There's no other small music venue I have been too that has the same ambience and vibe as Light Club. They wrangle in some pretty great artists both local and touring (seen loads of friends here as well as Sean Watkins of Nickelcreek and Tom Brosseau plus found a host of new favorites). Food is from next door at Duino and it's fantastic. Beer list is pretty good (all bottles and cans) and the drink menu is inventive and delicious. They just recently opened up and raise the two front tables by the window which I am still indifferent about. I thought it was cool before because people could "take in" the music but still have a quiet conversation without being rude to the performers. Need to check out another show there before making that call. I love this room whether its packed or it's just me, the performer and the bartender (which sadly has happened before). Burlington just needs to get out and see more music and this is the place to do it.

Yelp
The atmosphere is great. I don't drink alcohol, but I still enjoyed the live band and funky decor.

Yelp
Such a cool and eclectic spot. Food and drinks were great. The live jazz music was smooth. Bartender was super friendly and sweet. Would recommend if looking for a unique spot.

Yelp
Insanely awesome live music / dance spot in Burlington. Was in the area for vacation and lucky enough to have a friend hook it up so I could perform here while I was in town. The audience was attentive and appreciative and it was one of my best gigs to date. There is a legit stage and sound system and aside from being a music venue it is actually a lamp shop with some awesome pieces for sale! Very good drinks and great vibes all around. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
In feel, this is one of the best bars in Burlington. It actually is a lamp shop since it appears you can purchase the decor (which is almost entirely different artsy lamps). They frequently have live music and the crowd seems to usually be just about right. Not enough people to feel crowded, but busy enough that most of the seats are full. I wasn't enamored with the drinks. They were fine, but fairly expensive for Burlington and these are not the best cocktails in town. For the overall experience though, Light Club is pretty great.

Yelp
Drove a few hours to visit Burlington to check out different breweries/ cocktail bars in the area. We were recommended by a local to check out Light Club Lamp Shop. My boyfriend and I were at Radio Bean watching a show and decided to go next door around 12:15. We waited in line, only to be told by the bartender that he was "done". This seemed rude given we waited in line to get served. We were very disappointed, given the fact that the place was half full, and that official close wasn't until 2am. In addition, we have visited many cocktail bars similar to Lamps, and were excited about the drink menu.

Yelp
Hello, Brooklyn! It's everything a hipster cocktail bar should be, but done so well that I can't find a reason to complain. Drinks were diverse, contemporary and well executed. I've had worse at some of the best cocktail bars in New York, Seattle, and SF. Service was efficient, friendly and helpful, but he had to run to the restaurant next door to get an egg, which seemed odd since there was a refrigerated case right behind the bar. There was a DJ on a Monday night! The room was essentially empty, but he was still putting his heart into it, and it was totally appropriate to the vibe of the space - fun tunes but so unobtrusive that you could forget he was there if you were having a conversation. The interior is of course the big draw. It has the feel of a classic fern bar with lots of cozy nooks to secret yourself away. There are several dozen vintage lamps hanging, but the lighting is still appropriately soft. We didn't eat, but if ordering from the adjacent street food restaurant without leaving the bar were an option, this would probably knock the Daily Planet off the pedestal as "my bar" when I'm in Vermont.

Yelp
Loved this place! Such a unique spot with an impressive cocktail list.. We were fortunate enough to have arrived right before some women singers performed and they were sooo great

Yelp
POINTS OF CLARIFICATION: My interactions as described below were rooted in curiosity about ticket availability for a show on 1/8; turns out the venue itself does not sell tickets which are only available on-line, theoretically thru the calendar on their site, but I only learned that via response from my FB post (and such info is NOT readily apparent on the web, at least from what I saw on various visits...NB prospective showgoers--it does no good to 'call before you haul'!?!?!?....Based on my almost wholly negative experience on-line and on the phone this first week of 2020, I do not plan to patronize this venue in the immediate future (if ever again!?!?). Calling on 1/8 with questions about that evening's show (which I subsequently declined to attend based on this conversation!!), I encountered a female who could not have sounded more uninterested in my issues. When I chose to dis-recommend the venue on FB, I received a reply (in a timely manner I should state) that while empathetic to some degree was ultimately as impersonal as any individual representing a large corporation rather than a local venue. If LCLS wants to expand beyond its seemingly clique-y clientele, I might suggest it offer more information more readily than through those terminally-vague means I encountered this past week.

Yelp
Very rude bartender. I asked for a drink recommendation and he handed me the menu, said "read the menu and let me know what you want" and then walked away and went to talk to his other customers/friends. I was really excited for this bar and sorely let down. In a town that is packed with nice people, this place last.

Yelp
Favorite spot to go for drinks and music. The fixtures are gorgeous and set the perfect tone for an intimate setting. I usually like to go on quieter nights so that I can really enjoy the ambiance, but their live music is always good too!

Yelp
Great place for drinks and dessert. Atmosphere is incredibly unique with vintage lamps and light fixtures everywhere. Beers, wine, cordials, aperitifs, and liqueurs only. Cozy and inviting spot in the gateway to the Old North End.

Yelp
Not quite my scene. The layout feels cramped and overall the place is a bit grimey. Granted, we didn't stay for even a drink but I'm not rushing to go back.

Yelp
First time here and I love the atmosphere and all the unique lamps! The ladies bathroom has an old fashion telephone and very cool art work. I would definitely recommend this spot for a laid back chill night.

Yelp
Best bar in town in my opinion. Sometimes the bartender can get overwhelmed when it's busy because the cocktails are pretty time consuming to make but you can just pop into radio bean and get a drink in there no problem. The lamps are beautiful and the entire space is artfully crafted. Can and bottle selection is outstanding. And the musical acts are generally pretty good. Check out the lit club poetry reading on Mondays.

Yelp
Great band (Navytrain) but the venue is not air conditioned. Also - not as well lit as you would expect a lamp shop to be

Yelp
First time here! Love the atmosphere here. I recommend for a quick drink and chill. Would come back for sure
