Light Rail Cafe

One of my fav hangouts in Jersey City! The street name has special meaning to me ,so I keep going back for the food, music and atmosphere! The vibe is always good and the sips are tasty. I've been twice in 2024 and both times , had a great time. This is a multi level venue with a rooftop deck and a lower outside area. The servers are always pleasant. I'll be back before winter for sure!

I came in to dine in at 5pm we got seated & we had water in was three hostesses there & the young guy he has tattoos the other gentlemen had an ponytail & the young lady told the guy with the ponytail she told him she got us & she never greeted us to tell us anything . I’m very disappointed because I always dine or take out. This was my first experience & it wasn’t great at all. They need some better structure on hospitality. He about to serve us & also once we got up to leave in still no one came . I went to the restroom I’m came out & our table was clean but the could’ve freaking serve us they definitely need to do better

While the music was decent, the overall service left much to be desired. Despite there being only a few patrons and two bartenders, the wait for three margaritas was unreasonably long, with both bartenders, Henny and another unnamed, displaying a lack of friendliness and seeming overwhelmed or aggravated, particularly towards female patrons. Even inquiring about the kitchen's operating hours at 11 pm was met with attitude and impatience. It's disappointing when as a consumer, one doesn't feel valued or welcomed. Additionally, it appears that after 10 pm, the staff's priority shifts towards closing down rather than catering to customers. Overall, the experience left a feeling of unwelcome and a lack of desire to return.

Food was delicious! Good prices and the Mac n cheese was maccin’ !! The server Mabel was sweet as well. They don’t accept Apple Pay but I was able to zelle my server :). Definitely coming here for my birthday!!!

Cute little local spot. I tried the grilled catfish with rice and vegetables. The food overall was good. Our server was amazing he did magic tricks for us and was super helpful and friendly.

I would suggest anyone reviewing this place, understand it's setting and vibe before doing so.. This is a small, casual place, that offers good food and drinks at a reasonable price.. They are not "Fancy", so don't expect that.. We were 8 people in total and showed up without reservation since it was unplanned, and we were all just hungry, after a long and tiring evening, and this was the only place nearby with a good rating.. It was 1st time for all us.. Place was packed with barely any room but they got us seated right away by opening up the upper level.. Service was a little slow, but that was expected with the crowd, and the fact that we were seated separately from the rest of tables.. There was no complaints on the Taste or Quantity of the Food, especially for the price.. There was mix up with the getting separate checks, but again, it was understandable and they were quite apologetic about it..

This is my normal go to spot, but today was not it. The juice in my first drink you couldn’t even taste. The soda in my second drink was flat. The bartender took off my first drink, but when I brought to her attention the issues with my second drink she gave me nothing but attitude and told me she wasn’t taking it off. I was about to and decided against it. The girl needs better training and they need to do something about the soda from the gun being flat.

The service is terrible. One of the waitresses seemed to have an attitude as soon as I walked in. Didn't greet me, just stared at me as if I was intruding in her morning. I had to ask her for the menu, she gave me plastic utensils for dine in, completely slow service
