The ambiance is lovely. Really a beautiful place. I hadn't been there in more than 15 years, and we went as guests of friends on Saturday evening to celebrate a birthday. We ordered drinks called I love Lucy, or something similar, and for $15 each we were pretty disappointed. No garnish and truly nothing special. One of the guys ordered a beer, and when delivering a glass of wine, our server accidentally spilled his full to the brim glass of beer all over him, his pants, and shirt. That was not great to start things off, but she offered to buy us a dessert. We said no thanks, because we had brought our own birthday cake, but honestly we expected a manager to come over and apologize to our friend who was literally drenched for the rest of the evening and left smelling like a fraternity. It didn't happen. No one came over at all.
The food- some of us loved our food. The birthday girl ordered a BLT and she seemed to enjoy it. The "frat" guy got the steak salad and said it was good. I ordered the gyro, and I must say it was really not good. The steak was very overcooked, and there wasn't much meat to it at all. The best thing about it was the zucchini fries. Definitely not a meal worth its cost. I've had much better gyros for a lot less money, and I would give it a rating of 2 out of 5.
My husband ordered an appetizer salad and the ham biscuits and said they were good.
All in all I was very disappointed in the service, and especially since no one from management even bothered to come talk to us after the spill. I also was shocked to find out that not even a few dollars was taken off of the check for the beer. They had a nice opportunity to show off their upscale service, but didn't bother. I have a feeling I'll be okay waiting another 15 years to return. Lightfoot, you can do better.
