In a time when the mediocrity of chains like Dunkin Donuts gather cultish regularity out of simple convenience and a public desperation for garbage water that has some sugar in it born from this hellish, dystopian reality we exist in - where waiting in a drive-through line that stretches beyond the horizon line is such a given that we've begun scheduling our day around how long it will take to get a coffee less palatable than the trap water of sinks I've unclogged -
Lighthouse Keepers is an oasis in that desert of "I'll drink it cause I'm thirsty, I'll eat it cause I'm hungry, but I won't enjoy it." That we've become so accustomed to.
Are they bougie? Yes, but in a way that's charming, homey, comforting, and not the least bit off-putting to someone who has never worn anything Nantucket red.
Are they a little on the pricey side? I suppose in comparison to the actual garbage being choked out elsewhere, sure. You're gonna trade a few extra sheckles for the best veggie strata of your life, and a coffee that tastes like it came from an actual bean, rather than a rabbit turd someone mistook for that alchemical legume which fuels us all.
From fresh made sandwiches, salads, pastries and beverages to hot sauces, condiments, snacks and miscellany from their own kitchen, as well as other producers of small batch goods - lighthouse has everything you might want or need to satisfy whatever craving you might be feeling.
And Kelly, the owner and an actual real life precious angel, is usually in the dining area happy to say hello, or running between the kitchen and displays stocking, heating food, serving drinks - whatever, whenever.
I don't like a lot of things. I'm generally fairly unpleasant. I'm grumpy, and people give me the trots.
But Lighthouse Keepers Pantry - and I say this with a mouthful of that same Veggie Strata - is my favorite place to get away from life, even for just the few minutes it takes to get my Large hot Mocha Latte with whole milk, which has never, not once, been anything less than phenomenal.
If you haven't been there, you should. If you have been there, go again.
That is all.
