Mukilteo Lighthouse Park is a gem! The historic lighthouse is beautifully maintained and adds so much charm to the waterfront. It’s a great place to watch ferries, stroll along the beach, or enjoy a picnic. The only downside is that there’s just one trash can near the lighthouse area, and it was overflowing during our visit. It would be great if more bins were added to help keep the area as clean as it deserves to be. Overall, still a wonderful place to visit and soak in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Google
A good place for haiku. The mountains are clearly visible all around. You can also see Mount Baker. And walking along this spit to the house you can take in the sea air. And enjoy the sound of the waves.

We love this park! Nothing better than visiting on a sunny day (well, maybe having an orca encounter, as they travel by frequently). It can get a little busy on nice days, but there's plenty of space to spread out. The fire pits are so fun during sunsets, just make sure to come early as there's only a handful of them.

Kelly L.

Google
The view was wonderful. Public restrooms are conveniently located. Parking is available for three dollars per hour. I regret that the lighthouse was closed during my visit. Public fire pits are available for use.

Google
Mukilteo Lighthouse Park is a peaceful and scenic spot by the water, perfect for a beach stroll, picnic, or watching the ferries come and go. The historic lighthouse adds charm, and the views of Puget Sound and Whidbey Island are beautiful, especially at sunset. We spotted sea lions and enjoyed the sounds of the waves. There are fire pits, picnic tables, a small playground, and clean restrooms. A great local escape just north of Seattle—relaxing, photogenic, and family-friendly!

On a cloudy day during the week, it is quiet. During the weekend when it is sunny, there is lots of activity. Arrive early to get a fire pit. The bathrooms are not really clean because of how busy it gets. Parking is 3 dollars/hour and you must pay through your phone only. The lighthouse is very cute and overall the park is very nice.

Google
Fun, unexpected little visit. Got an impromptu history lesson from one of the volunteers and enjoyed the view from the top. All free! Many thanks to the lighthouse supporters.

Google
I love coming here. It's never too busy and there's plenty of beach to comb. Absolutely beautiful scenery in every direction.

Yelp
Beautiful, historic Victorian lighthouse and fantastic park and beach area - great spot to meander and explore. Possession Sound spreads out to the north and west sides of the park and is full of seals, sea lions, and sea birds of course. The lighthouse was first lit in 1905 and was originally an oil lamp. But a fourth order Fresnel lens was eventually installed and is still in use here. Its signature signal pattern used to flash on for two seconds, then off for three. But an LED was installed some years ago and the new signature signal is now a flash every five seconds. The lighthouse is small but there are several other buildings of interest such as the Keeper's and Assistant Keeper's houses - but the buildings are open only seasonally. The park seems to be open year round and still well worth the visit. The grounds and buildings are well maintained and beautiful. There are lots of info signs around the grounds and you can even do a self guided walking tour. There are some very flat and easy hiking trails circling the lighthouse and the beaches along the sound. The beaches have fire pits. There are decent bathrooms in the parking area. Parking is paid and we paid $3 for one hour (not sure the daily max). We were able to explore enough within our hour - but if the buildings were open it would definitely take longer. Very lovely park and I'd definitely like to return when the buildings are open!

Yelp
The experience is tarnished by the broken parking payment UX that they use to scam families.

Yelp
Fun place to take a gander on a gray and windy day, the weather adds a spooky ambiance to Mukilteo Light Station and Lighthouse Park. One of the big logistical details that pops out to me about the park currently is that parking requires payment at an electronic pay station. Discover passes do not cover parking here. The grounds are fun to explore and it can be attention-holding trying to identify what little bird is hopping past with some nesting material. When the lighthouse part of the park is open it is fun to explore. The buildings have not been open the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, however the grounds have, making it possible to walk up to the windows and peer inside even when the buildings are closed. When waiting for family arriving from the ferry, the park has also served as a nice place to just get out of the car, walk around, and take in the beauty of the shoreline and the Olympic Mountains across the water.

Yelp
This is a very scenic beachfront area to spend the day. There is a playground, spots for beach fires, and a lighthouse to walk around.

Yelp
This is one of the top sites in Mukilteo! Located right on the water with a view of Whidbey Island across the way, the park is a lovely place to spend a summer afternoon. The lighthouse and gift shop are behind a gate with a sign posted that they open at noon. However, on the day we went, both the lighthouse and shop were closed for some reason, so we were a little bummed after making the drive over. Luckily, we were still at least able to walk behind the gate and capture some photos. In front of the lighthouse, there are pamphlets for a walking tour which take you to various numbered stops along the beach. It's a great way to learn about Mukilteo's history while getting some steps in. I enjoyed relaxing on the beach, gazing at the water and basking in the sun. Depending on the tide, you may see some sea life like starfish and crabs. We even spotted a whale in the distance! Parking is paid at the maximum of $10 for four hours. There are a few main options for food with Ivar's and Arnies being popular picks. Many people grabbed fish and chips or ice cream from the Ivar's Fish Bar and took it to the beach. Between exploring the beach area, walking around the park and enjoying a delicious lunch, we had a delightful summer day in Mukilteo!

Yelp
Having never been to Mukilteo before, I had very little idea of what I would find here after disembarking the ferry from Whidbey Island. While looking for a place to have dinner, my wife and I took a stroll along the trails of this beachfront park, taking in view of the lighthouse, the wedding circle, a perfect October sunset, and several heartwarming scenes of families gathered around the provided firepits, grilling and barbecuing, and spending time together during the last moments of weekend daylight. All of them are blessed to live here, and hopefully, they know it.

Yelp
It made for a beautiful time for a picnic with family. The nearby playground was a nice addition for our small cherubs.

Yelp
Very pretty area! Lots of sights to see rain or shine. Just not a huge fan of the entire parking lot being pay to park not to mention that the parking enforcement does sit in their car in the parking lot all day monitoring. Parking at the moment is $3/hr as well and the machines do not appear to accept cash at all.

Yelp
It's just cute!! Been here several times and it's just cute. Prettiest beach, lighthouse, seagulls everywhere!! All over, nonstop! Ferries back and forth. It's like a little seaside, beach town. Feels so far away from city/ downtown Seattle. And it's not that far (45 minutes). And the scenery! It's pretty great. The historic lighthouse is super cute, well maintained too. They have a dock/ boat launch area, sandy beach area with grills ( usually very dirty from all the coals), or benches all over if you want to sit and see the sunset. Parking isn't free but it's pretty enough you'll pay for it. No facilities nearby so it's not a full blown beach but there are a handful of food spots/ coffee shop, and an ice cream shop nearby. And! Fish & chips. You can't beach, watch seagulls without fish & chips. I usually stop by after my travels to/from the Whidbey island but also been here a few times. My pup loves it!

Manmir A.

Yelp
Came here a few times. Nice view, can be chilly here at times. There are a few eatieries and a bar down the street which is a nice. Ferry can cause some traffic and there is street parking.

Yelp
My husband and I visited Mukilteo Lighthouse Park for the first time yesterday. It is a beautiful park, and we enjoyed our visit. I had read on another yelper's review that this park can be extremely crowded. We got around that possibility by visiting on a day on which there were intermittent rain showers. There were still quite a few people visiting, but it wasn't too crowded, and the mists over the hills were lovely to look at. This is a medium-sized park. There is a lot to do and to see. We liked reading about George Vancouver landing at that location in 1792. This information was on a plaque next to the lighthouse. The lighthouse is small and cute. The floral arrangements throughout the park, and the many nods to this area's Native American history and culture, really added a lot to the vibe. There were a few brave souls who had lit fires in the rain. There are many round fire pits with bricks built up in a circle for building fires. There are many rules to abide by if you want to light a fire here, so I took a photo of the sign with all of the rules listed on it. There are beautiful water views almost everywhere you look. I enjoyed watching the waves crash against the rocks, and my husband and I sat on a log and read our books together. We both enjoy reading, and we were celebrating National Book Lovers Day (August 9th) 2 days early. (We actually didn't even know about National Book Lovers Day until this year. :) ) It was a peaceful place to read quietly. Some folks were playing volleyball at the park's volleyball net while we were there. The volleyball net is fairly far away from the main beach. My husband and I are ridiculously busy lately, but we have been making the time for a date once per month, to do something that we haven't done before, or to go somewhere that we haven't been before (locally). We are happy that we chose this park for this month's date. Hint: It's actually pretty romantic to visit this park in the rain - especially if you bring one big umbrella and share it. :)

Yelp
This is a lovely park. Pet friendly. There are beautiful scenery spots for picture taking. It's very well kept. Walk around or spend the day here was very pleasant. There is a small gift shop. Unsure if currently open.

Yelp
Beautiful area. Historic lighthouse. We had drove to this area to visit a chocolate shop and unbeknownst to us. That place was closed for the day. So we parked at the lighthouse park and walked around the white buildings. Read some of the historic records about the home and site. Perfect area to watch the ferry come and go. Great water views and catching some sun.

Yelp
Mukilteo Light Station and Lighthouse Park is a great way to stretch your legs before docking on to the ferry. We visited the Mukilteo Light Station and Lighthouse Park, as it's near the ferry terminal to Whidbey Island, and we had some time to kill before the next ferry arrived for boarding. I love how accessible this park is. It's walking distance to the terminal, other businesses along the water, a boat launch and public restrooms. There's also ample space to walk your dog around. The Lighthouse Park is particularly interesting because of the lighthouse here, which still shines its light 24/7. There are other buildings on the park property that formerly housed coast guard families in the mid-90's. Now, you can only walk around the outside of the buildings, as there's no public access inside any of them except for the gift shop. The Park also seems to be a popular place for pictures. The day we visited a couple was taking engagement photos here. You get great views of the water and can even see when your ferry is approaching, which is how we knew it was time to go! If you have some time to spare while in the area, I would recommend checking out Lighthouse Park. It's cool that the Mukilteo Historical Society has managed it for all to enjoy.

Yelp
Beautiful place to park and watch the ships come and go. This park is right next to the ferry area. There's plenty of parking for any event. Several restaurants in a short walk from the park. It's beautiful here and we loved the visit to the area.

Yelp
I took my family to look for the new Mulkiteo fishing pier and found it finally behind the new ferry terminal. Took me a while to find it after asking several people , who are not aware of it. Dissapointed ! We did not stay at all as the facility was very user unfriendly. There was no parking space for the public, all the parking were for employees of the ferry and or 15 minutes passenger drop off. For a fishing pier, it's way too small, perhaps enough for 5-6 people and its full, and way too high above the water level. I guesstimate was about 30-45' above sea level. There were no fish cleaning station and or bench for the elderly and families, so how can it be called a family fishing pier ? I have visited CA, and even overseas like australia, where when its a Fishing Pier, It means, about 300-700' from shore into the water, 15-20' max to sea level , all the facilities for public, parking, restroom, fish cleaning station, bench and shelter. Very dissapointed. this one is like a child play pier

Yelp
I absolutely loved the lighthouse and the park surrounding it. What a beautiful place to spend the afternoon alone, with friends or family, or even bring your dog. You do have to pay for parking, however it is a great place to come spend the day and sit on the beach!
google avatar

Yelp
We were visiting some friends in nearby Everett and they suggested we go see the Mukilteo Light Station and then catch the ferry over to Whidbey Island. There is a very nice little park here and on a nice day you can walk around and see some of the historic buildings that are there and maybe go to the gift shop. The Mukilteo Historical Society has done a very nice job keeping everything clean and nice for all to enjoy.
google avatar

Yelp
Great park for kids and families! The interactive light house walking tour was great for our kids to learn about the historical site. Being next to the ferry terminal was a lot of fun. Went on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, plenty of parking and not over crowded. People were playing volleyball, and having multiple picnics. There are multiple covered picnic areas with BBQ. Very spacious for distancing from others. The large fire pits on the beach made making s'mores fun and easy! Will definitely come back for hanging out or for outdoor events.
google avatar

Stephanie E.

Yelp
Cute little light house! Fun to explore, walk around, and take a couple pretty pictures. It is right next to where the ferry comes in and out, so it is fun to watch that as well. Parking wasn't bad when we went, but I imagine it is much busier in the summer. Fun Date Idea: Ivars clam chowder and hanging out here after to watch the ferries or the sunset in the evening!
google avatar

Yelp
Really cute spot to either spend a rare Seattle sunny day at the park, a tourist activity to take guests to the lighthouse as there's a gift shop, or just have a nice scenery for a photo shoot. This location is very well kept, which I was hoping to have it be a bit torn apart for a vintage look to take photos, but very impressed that it's well kept since I'm terrified of going to public bathrooms at parks and beaches. I saw dogs walking around here so I'm assuming it's pet friendly, yay! There's also a couple restaurant and businesses around for you to get food/drinks from or more importantly ice cream! The parking lot is huge, there's no way for you to have problem finding a spot to park even on a busy day, it's $2 an hour to park. I'd avoid coming here during rush hours for a more pleasant experience because it's beautiful here. Tell me about your experience if you've been here or is going to after reading this review:)
google avatar

Fong L.

Yelp
Such love and attention is given to the upkeep of this beautiful park. This is an adorable ferry town that you don't mind waiting for the next ferry lol. The lighthouse grounds is well-kept. I love returning here all four seasons, especially when there is less of a crowd so you can really enjoy the serenity. There was recent news of a kayaker that paddled under the ferry pier. It shut down ferry service for an hour because he refused to leave...sigh. Intentional or not, it's disheartening to hear such ignorance (or arrogance).
google avatar

Erica P.

Yelp
An awesome place to visit. There are paths to walk or bike on, long stretches of shoreline, a light house, tide pools, well-kept kids area' picnic shelters, real bathrooms, and fire pits. I randomly end up here when I am jonesing for for the beach. I like watching the ferries come and go, and seeing all of the boats on the water. In the summer there are all manner of gatherings and festivals. You now have to pay to park, so be prepared for that. Fire pits are first come, first served, you'll see people camping out all day to save one. It's a beautiful park, definitely worth a visit.

May B.

Yelp
COVID era review - I want to love this place but it is SOOO BUSY!! The beach has little fire pits, a cement side walk to walk along, and lots of logs to sit on..... but I felt like I was constantly on top of someone else's party. We'll try again when the pandemic eases a bit.
google avatar

Sheri H.

Yelp
Beautiful park on the beach looking out from Mukilteo. Winds are great here for flying kites. There are firepits and burning your own wood you've brought in is allowed - not the driftwood. Having a BBQ or bonfire here is a blast. There's a good playground for the little kids to play on. There are also a couple sand volleyball courts. I'm an artist and I've seen many people sketching on the beach and also gathering shells and seaglass. The lighthouse is a must-see at least one time. It's quaint, well maintained and has a lovely spot near the ferry dock. There's an ice cream shop nearby and it's fun to take the kids - or my friends too! - over there after a hard day of playing beachside. Decent restrooms and free parking available here. The parking lot gets full on the weekends and nice days. There is a boat launch here too.
google avatar

Chelsea Ellen A.

Yelp
I make the 15 minute drive out to Mukilteo specifically to come to this shore line. I love running around on the floating docks (when no one is trying to bring their boat in). It's a fun spot to people watch and catch a killer sunset. There's something so serene about the drive to Mukilteo. Once you turn a corner and go down a hill, you get a fantastic view of the shore. Then, once you arrive, there's so much to look at. I love watching the ferries take off. I've seen people host bonfires on the beach too, which would be so much fun!
google avatar

Tien T.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE this park! You can't beat this view. Nice long walkway along the water that is lined with benches to just sit back relax and watch the ferries come and go. PRO - the view - boat launch - kids playground - lots of parking - steps away from I vars for a snack - tour the lighthouse - lighthouse gift shop - clean bathrooms - covered shelter for parties - human/fur baby water fountain - 6 firepits CONS - you have to pay to park ($1/hour) - tons of seagulls = seagull sh** everywhere - could use a few more tables for picnics
google avatar

Christine T.

Yelp
I dunno 2.5 stars... 3. It is not a lighthouse in the traditional mind's eye recollection of lighthouses from illustrations or stories... they never are. It's a tiny thing, tiny house, tiny tower. Pretty light bulb, but underwhelming. Very quaint. Picturesque. Go before open time at noon to bet the best pictures. The nearby park and beach are small, but there is a TON of parking. Free to Mulkiteo residents $2 /hour for everyone else. Nice views of the Sound and nearby islands. It is RIGHT NEXT TO THE FERRY TO WHIDBEY. So loud boat noises are a thing at certain times. There's an Ivar's (?) burgers and ice cream joint which everyone at the park/beach were eating. Public bathrooms are clean. They have neat sculpture and art things in the park buildings and decorations. It's also a nice drive to the park via the Mulkiteo Speedway. (Don't speed though.) Dog friendly but please #scoopyourdarnpoop
google avatar

Mahal D.

Yelp
Beautiful place for sunsets! I don't know much about this area, but one thing I can say, is the diversity of cultures of the beach was intoxicating. Many people were smiling and walking with there family, friends and dogs, enjoying a beautiful late summer evening. BarBQs grills and fire pits were in full force, as the end of summer nears, once the sun sets, it gets cold burr...so bring your jacket or blanket. The Whidby island ferry terminal is also located right night to the park. Boaters can launch there boats and be in Whidby island in less then 20mins. Wave runners enjoying the last days of summer. Love the northwest, but man our summers are too short!
google avatar

Dom T.

Yelp
An awesome place even in the rain, bring your favorite soup in a thermos, and a fattie, and get in touch with the Great North West, why not i did, it kept me quite sane for 2 years 11 months, and 17 days that I was there, but no matter what season it's just breathe taking. Then take the ferry and visit Cliff in Whidbey Island, just tell em Dom the Mova sent you and he'll give 10% of on seasoning rub and spices. Damn he can make some caramelized onions.
google avatar

Aaron C.

Yelp
This park used to be the kick-it spot for my friends and I for years. They remodeled it recently though, and now it's more of a family park. A lot of kids running around, no room to play football or baseball. It has a couple of undercover picnic areas with grills, it has a couple volleyball nets, and a playground for the kids. The view is amazing, but don't bother going on a nice day, you won't find parking. If you do find it, you're going to pay 5 bucks for a couple hours.
google avatar

Monique M.

Yelp
Such a beautiful site! Would definitely recommend stopping through here if you're in the area.
google avatar

Morgan S.

Yelp
I grew up going to this park, had a few parties there and spent many summer days in the sun with friends. It's come a long way in the last fifteen years, too. A few years back they did a big remodel on the whole place ... Fixed up the boat ramp, made the bathrooms bigger and nicer, added nice walking paths, etc. There are fire pits and BBQs, it's just a great family place on a nice day. I just wish they wouldn't close the bathrooms seasonally ... people walk their dogs and check out the lighthouse all year round, it would be nice not to get locked out of the nearest public restroom for six months out of the year. But I'm pretty sure that has more to do with the amount of money the state/county is capable of putting into public parks ... and right now, understandably, there's not a lot of extra lying around. Still, it would be nice. And while I get people's frustration with paying for parking, that was a WA state decision ... and the Discovery Pass is more than worth it. Get yours today!
google avatar

Cathy G.

Yelp
The beach walks are beautiful an drefreshing. I am not ever a fan of paying for parking- that is the way, apparently of the city-DANG! Kids do not bother me as my choice is to go early or late.
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Sucks that you have to pay for parking, but if you can come down during the day, you can avoid most of the kids and have a nice walk along the beach. View's are really nice, but be prepared to share the beach with a lot of people and finding parking will be tricky.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Great place for the kids. Quite large, but also quite a bit going on. There is the ferry with some shops nearby. Also a regular boat launch. It's quite busy. Looks like it can launch 4 boats at a time. There is a decent playground and of course the beach. You can bbq at the beach. . There can be a lot of people (therefore a little dirtier) but there's plenty of parking. The parking costs money but it's pretty cheap.
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
Parking for cars was full so we parked in a spot for cars with boat trailers which were empty Except for a few cars. The result was a $32 parking ticket even though we had paid for parking. Farmers market and beach are nice. Too bad the city isn't more tourist friendly.
google avatar

Randy K.

Yelp
I always love this place. Close to home and great views. The facilities are newer and well maintained. My only gripe is they've started charging for parking. It does keep the lot a little more empty now.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
This park has been remodeled recently and it looks great. My daughter had a lot of fun on the playground. The beach is beautiful and fun to walk along, especially during a low tide. The drawbacks are that it's usually crowded and you now have to pay for parking.
google avatar

Lindsey C.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE Mukilteo Lighthouse Park! It is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in the world. (At least, out of the places I've visited!) I haven't ever been disappointed by the stunning views and the beach.
google avatar

Britt A.

Yelp
You cannot beat the views: the beach is great, the lighthouse is picture perfect and I could watch the ferries and seals come and go all day. It does get pretty packed during the summer so I suggest coming early or visiting in the off season. Beyond the views the bathrooms are heated and fairly clean and there is a play ground, picnic tables and fire pits to keep everyone happy. Unfortunately, you now have to pay $1/hour to park here: I'm not sure what all this money's going to but they must be making bank. There is also Diamond Knot Brewery, Ivars, the ferry and fishing within walking distance.
google avatar

John A.

Yelp
As a longtime visitor and previous resident of Mukilteo, I am supremely disappointed that I now have to pay to park there. I understand Mukilteo residents don't have to pay. If this is a State Park, shouldn't all Washington residents be treated equally? I live in Mill Creek close by. We do not charge anyone to park here for the Mill Creek Nature Preserve or other public area. #Mukilteo #Snohomish
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
It's a fun park for kids. They have some newer equipment which is a change from the normal dull play places. The beach is rocky and not very good for swimming. It's also usually really busy on hot days. They hold the local farmers market here as well which is nice.
google avatar

Crystle W.

Yelp
Love this park! Been coming here for years! Great for bonfires, volleyball and bbqs. Parking gets packed on a sunny day. Ivars, Diamond Knot and Aries are just down the street!! Fairly safe park I don't see much trouble ever happening here. During the summer there's a Farmers Market on Wednesdays.
google avatar

Nicola G.

Yelp
This park is gorgeous and well kept. It is also insanely busy on sunny days. Parking in this area is crazy bad (almost Capitol Hill bad). It's a good place to bring your kids or your dog but if you're an introvert, like me, you might find it too busy and crowded for your liking. I think it's a great park for others but not a park for me.
google avatar

Joey T.

Yelp
Nice little beach area with great view of the landscapes. There is a little park next to it with a small light house. It's a small park so don't expect too much.
google avatar

Vishnu V.

Yelp
Great place to take your family for an afternoon and enjoy the beach and the shops along the beach. The historic lighthouse is a nice little attraction too.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to take the kids. There's a small playground for them, the views are beautiful, and the beach is clean. Ivar's is in walking distance, so you can grab an ice cream for them and fish and chips or chowder for yourself and relax on the beach for a meal. A great place to visit any day of the year. Parking is $2/hr. if you don't have a pass to park for free as a Mukilteo resident. It's well worth the few bucks.

Janelle H.

Yelp
Used to be a great place to enjoy the beach and then go to Diamond Knot for Beers and lunch or dinner. Now, even in the off-seasons you have to pay to park. I'm fine with paying to use the park but to go to the local businesses you have to park too. Not cool Mukilteo!
