"Lignum is Latin for 'wood' and, as such, it’s the ancient method of cooking over an open flame which takes centre stage at this immensely likeable restaurant. It's housed in a modern barn conversion which has a distinctly Scandic vibe, from the large windows and minimalist furnishings to the roaring fire and throws on the chairs. The wood-fired cooking lends a delicious smoky dimension to the creative dishes, which – informed by the chef's heritage – blend ingredients from Ireland (such as sweet lobster tail) and Italy (Amalfi lemon). It all comes in the form of a surprise tasting menu." - Michelin Inspector

The 16-course tasting menu at Lignum is one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. A beautiful stone building with wood-burning stoves, soft lighting, and earthy décor sets the tone. The menu is provided at the end so you can fully immerse yourself in the flavours of each dish. Service was excellent, and the food was exceptional. I’m already looking forward to returning.

We had the Saturday lunch and it was an unforgettable experience. The food was unreal, and the service was fantastic. Great value as well considering the quality of all the courses. Will definitely be back!

Absolutely fabulous – a refreshing new take on Irish food and dining. We took my wife here for her birthday and chose the Sunday lunch menu – everything was perfect from start to finish. From the moment the four of us arrived, the atmosphere was calm and welcoming. The gardens, the stunning building, and most of all, the warm and genuinely lovely staff made the experience feel special without being pretentious. Even the owner picking the ingredients for her herbal tea was super special... oh and the desert was incredible... The food? Simply outstanding – beautifully prepared with top-quality ingredients. We’ll definitely be back!

Possibly the most enjoyable dining experience I’ve had in an Irish restaurant. The setting, the décor, the atmosphere — all 10/10. Every one of the 16 tasting courses was beautifully presented, with flavours and textures that were clearly planned with exceptional care and creativity. It’s honestly hard to pick a favourite, but standout dishes included: The tomato and basil The lamb tartare The lobster The ‘pizza’ The crab If I had to find a tiny fault, it would be the duck dish — personally, I found it a bit too meat-heavy and felt it could have done with either a touch more veg or slightly less duck. That said, I still really enjoyed it. The sommelier helped us choose a delicious bottle of Chablis, and every member of staff was friendly, attentive, and highly professional throughout. I would’ve booked a table years ago if it weren’t for the challenge of finding nearby accommodation. This time, we stayed in a lovely Airbnb just a 10-minute taxi ride away — I’d definitely recommend arranging accommodation when booking your table. Really looking forward to returning before the end of the year.

Truly unforgettable — the best dining experience I’ve ever had. We had the 18-course tasting menu with wine pairings at Lignum, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. Every single course was creative, beautifully presented, and absolutely packed with flavour a real journey from start to finish. The wine pairings were so well thought out and elevated the whole experience even more. The service was next level, warm, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced. And the setting? Unreal. It strikes that perfect balance with a calm, atmospheric feel that just adds to the magic. Genuinely the most incredible food experience I’ve had can’t recommend it enough

The setting and building are lovely — shame the food didn’t live up to the architecture. The staff gave off strong cult initiation vibes; we half expected to be handed a robe instead of a menu. We went for the Saturday lunch. It was so spectacularly average that it actually became funny. The €31 glass of Chardonnay was the real punchline. We’ve eaten at plenty of Michelin-star restaurants around the world, but this one felt like a parody of itself. The sheepskin seat covers were nice, if you ignored the creeping sense of regret that set in around course three. One of the courses was bread and butter. Plain old sourdough with butter. Insane. Meanwhile, the table next to us spent the entire meal filming themselves, walking laps around their table and staging influencer moments — it was like eating lunch inside an Instagram story. The “snack” course was decent, the lobster course was a crime, and the final “snack” — served on what I can only describe as a decorative tree — was plain embarrassing. There was also a random bit of branch the cutlery was delicately balanced on, which kept slipping off like it, too, was trying to leave. Please, for the love of good taste: stop serving concept art and start serving food. I’m giving it two stars purely out of guilt — one for the building, and one for the bravery it takes to charge €31 for a glass of Chardonnay.

Absolutely fabulous. Over the course of a 2½ hour lunch tasting menu in a beautiful setting, we ate like king and queen. Amazing food. Thanks so much to the wonderful staff for looking after us.

We had a truly wonderful experience celebrating my mother’s birthday here. The food was absolutely incredible, every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff were attentive, welcoming, and made the lunch feel extra special. The location is perfect, and the atmosphere added so much to the occasion. This restaurant is an absolute must-visit, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!
