Where To Eat in Bensonhurst's Chinatown - New York - The Infatuation

"Of the many cha chaan tengs or Hong Kong-style cafes in Bensonhurst, Like Cafe is one of our favorite places to get strong, sweet milk tea at tables that are separated by a set of colorful curtains. The mildly chaotic menu includes breakfast sets for under $10, and you should go for one that comes with a ham and egg sandwich, because both the eggs and the bread are pillowy soft. If it’s after breakfast, put together a feast of snacks with things like peanut butter french toast, curry fish balls, and beef tripe." - carina finn koeppicus, neha talreja

Google
Solid Hong Kong Style cafe. Menu is huge and can be difficult to navigate. Pictures are helpful but I wish they also had numbers. I had the shark fin soup, red bean ice and split the jumbo triple baked rice with my family. The fake shark fin in the soup could have been more tender. The ingredients reminded me more of sweet and sour soup but the taste was good. Red bean ice hit the spot, it was everything I was looking for. Some beans were mushy and some kept their shape. Texturally it was on point. The triple baked rice had chicken curry, seafood rice and tomato based pork rice. All was creamy and delish. A little much and had to take over half of it to go. I tried the fries my brother had and it was double fried and extra crispy. A+. Would definitely visit Like Cafe again.

Google
I like like cafe!!!! I love the decor (reminds me of China) & the menu is huggeeee. Also Huge Huge Huge portions for such a low price… we love u bensonhurst. food was tbh kinda lackluster but just use some sriracha and it’s all good :3

Google
The food was good for the price and very filling. They were short on staff but still hustles around.

Google
Good thing we didn't listen to our friends. We had tried ourselves and we loved it.

Google
The menu has a lot of choices. I picked the breakfast specials #D that is recommended by many people, and I like it. The Singapore fried noodle which is highly recommended did not disappoint me. The egg drop beef chow fun is okay, not as good as the regular beef chow fun. Overall it’s a good Hong Kong style cafe in Brooklyn with many items in the menu that I will try out next time.

Google
Love the unique atmosphere, though the arrangement on the tables can be better since there’s monitors that aren’t in use, but places next to where customers dine. Food was average and possibly worse than some places serving Hong Kong style food on 86th street in Brooklyn since many dishes lacked flavor. Service was super prompt and staff were friendly.

Google
Hidden Gem! LOVE THIS PLACE!! Always good food and service. Beef noodles are on point. The soup dumplings are SO JUICY! Great deals for buy 1 get 1 half off or buy 3 and get 1 FREE! Can't beat that!! If you never tried Hong Kong food and don't plan to fly 13hrs there, then give this place a try 😊

Google
Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food despite its shabby outer appearance. Inside, each table is surrounded by drapes to make the “room” more private. The menu was super diverse from breakfast items, to street food, to then dinner meals at an affordable price. Unfortunately we went at 7pm so there were no more rice noodles or haw fun. We ordered the curry porkchop, stuffed eggplant and peppers, fried fish with corn with white sauce on rice, pepper steak on rice, and peanut butter French toast. My favorite was the French toast - if I could I would order 5 of them. Perfectly soft and light crisp with a tang of saltiness matches cohesively with the syrup! The pepper steak was spicier than expected but bearable (it had a bit too much pepper imo but it was still good). The fish with cream sauce was not what I expected, it also had some cheese. Each rice dish actually had egg with rice on the bottom which was an added bonus. I would definitely come back for another French toast, as well as to try more of the gigantic menu.

Yelp
Best HK style cuisine in the area hands down. get there early so you don't have to wait long. They have such a large selection of foods it will satisfy everyone cravings. Been here a hand full of times and I travel all the way from queens to come here. Everything down to the portion size to the spacing of the tables is on point. The HK lemon tea is fire as well as their coffee/tea. The pineapple butter buns is a must get. Kids will love this place, very spacious and accommodating for kids. Cant recommend this place enough. Service is super quick and love coming here

Yelp
I came here for dinner on a Sunday night with a group of 4 people since we were going to see the Christmas lights in Dyker Heights nearby. I ordered the Taiwanese pork chop rice. My friends ordered the tomato baked pork chop rice, the beef ramen combo, and the beef chow fun noodles. The Taiwanese pork chop was not really Taiwanese pork chop, it was more like Japanese pork katsu with ground pork, pickled mustard greens, and white rice. I was really craving the Taiwanese style pan fried pork chop though. The pork was still was a bit undercooked inside so I didn't eat some of it. The best deal was the breakfast combos - ramen, sandwich, and a drink. Service was fast and friendly. Overall, the food was okay and cheap but probably would not order pork here.

Yelp
The service was good. The food delicious Favorite was the vegetable stir fry rice and beef was so soft. Broccoli too was not too crunchy. Just right.

Yelp
I'm only giving this place, three stars but I still feel like I wanna go by back and try something else. Maybe it will be better. The menu is huge. A little something for everyone. Tried the Hong Kong Street Combo plate, which had fish balls, tripe on a stick, a lot of cheong fun (rice noodle) chunks, stuffed pepper, and stuffed eggplant. I would pass on this. Didn't like any of these items. Stuffing for bell pepper/ eggplant was bland. I assume it was fish but it had no taste. Tripe: most were pieces I couldn't identify. No honeycomb tripe pieces. Cheong fun: a bit too sticky for my taste. Salted Egg yolk prawn fried rice. The shrimp was delicious with a strong yolk flavored breading. The fried rice though was too plain and bland. Nothing in the rice but salted egg yolk. Could have used some peas, onions and stuff like a regular fried rice has. It does come with a few stalks of broccoli on the side. Portions are large and prices are reasonable. They have breakfast combo for only $7.25. Includes 2 food items plus a milk tea. You can order it up until 4pm. Decor: brightly colored with lots of tables. Service was efficient and friendly. I'll probably come back again because of the huge Hong Kong style food menu. I wanna try something else.

Yelp
Quick to seat on a weekday, always bustling with customers. Warm ambiance with LED hk food theme. The portions are great for the price, authentic hk inspired food. Variety of options! Always have to order the hk styled French toast
google avatar

Yelp
The staff was friendly but unfortunately it was understaffed, hot and food was not good. AC was not cold, they did not give water until asked. The food had flavor. Only the red bean ice cream was good.

Yelp
I'm all in for Hong Kong-style food, and this place is fantastic! It's my second visit, and I've never had a bad dish here. Definitely try the HK street food platter--it's a must! Everything on the menu is worth sampling. The service is quick, and the atmosphere is relaxed. It can get busy on weekends, so be prepared for a wait, but great food is always worth it. Happy eating!

Yelp
I've been to Like Cafe for many, many years now. My family has a few staples we typically order from here: Hainanese Chicken and Baked Portuguese Chicken Rice being the two most ordered. The most recent times I've been back to order these dishes, there is a noticeably big difference from what we've eaten throughout the years. The Hainanese Chicken is usually very succulent, yellow, and tastes of sweet chicken flavor. Most recently, we ordered a full Hainanese Chicken around Lunar New Year and it was disappointing, to say the least. From the moment I opened the takeout box, I could already see how dry and dark yellow the chicken skin was as if it had been sitting out for some time. The flavor of the chicken is also not the same - it is saltier and lacks the natural sweetness of the chicken. The meat was dry and sadly, an overall waste of money. For the Portuguese Rice, the base is typically an egg fried rice under a layer of chicken & Portuguese sauce. This time, however, the egg fried rice was bright yellow, as if the Portuguese sauce was infused into the fried rice. This is not how I'm used to having this dish! The scrambled egg in the fried rice was in larger chunks than usual. The whole dish also lacked flavor which my whole family agreed on. I'm really hoping maybe the chef went on vacation during the holidays and they found a temporary sub in the meantime. But for now, I won't be back for a while just to wait out that possibility.

Yelp
Love their food! My favorite will always be their sizzling curry beef brisket over rice roll which I always get (only dine in, no take out). We also recently tried their yangzhou fried rice, singapore mei fun & sweet and sour porkchops. All were delicious! Friendly waiters and the foods come out fast! Love the new decor too!

Yelp
Nice Hong Kong Style Cafe to get breakfast or lunch. We tried the tripe, breakfast combo which came with an egg sandwich, ramen and milk tea (for like $8- what a steal!) and Spaghetti peppersteak noodles. Tripe was tender and soft. Noodles were pretty standard and portions were big. The staff were quick and efficient. Overall, its a casual spot to get a meal or take out.

Yelp
If you are looking for a HK-style cuisine this is the place to go. Not pictured - HK milk tea. This is a MUST BUY when you are here. There is something about it that takes you home. It was super busy since we went during the weekend but the staff managed to quickly get out orders. Highly recommend for those who wants to get a little bit of that nostalgic feel of HK. We had to pay for side street parking, but I suppose that's just Brooklyn for ya.
google avatar

Cyrus T.

Yelp
I like the HK street combo, a little bit of everything. Rice roll were too soft and chewy though. I also like their drinks. HK tea milk was delicious. The red bean drink is good too. We also ordered the bolo bun with butter. It is decent. I enjoyed the HK tea atmosphere. A good place for afternoon tea.

Yelp
Such a gem in Brooklyn!!! This reminds me of King Sihk Tong, but even better!!! They serve breakfast combo from 10:40am-4:30pm for only $7.25. What a steal?!?! Comes with a small sandwich, small noodle bowl, and a small milk tea!!! It is yummy!!! When we got here a lot of the menu were sold out. So I will come back again soon!!!

Namron L.

Yelp
Had the Combo C (satay beef noodle, ham egg sandwich & milk tea), beef tripe radish, pineapple bun with butter, congee & fried stick, HK Street Food Combo (tripe, fish ball, cheong fun). All the food was good except did not like the peanut butter sauce in HK Combo, bun is huge. Spacious place, fast service, varied menu, restroom, provided lemon water. Recommend.

Yelp
Casual local spot. Prices are fair. Food itself is okay. Menu has been changed from what I remember. They used to have xiao long bao but they just have Hong Kong style food now. Quick service. Overall I still recommend for a quick casual meal.

Yelp
I went today for lunch with 2 friends. Our 12:00p arrival made us fear a long wait given eyeing the lines outside during so many pickups of phone orders here. Their ordering pickup is always heavily trafficked as one can view the orders for pickup on the large racks which combined with the steady queue floating around the doorway and sidewalk suggest a long wait. In the end, a 15m wait wasn't too bad, though C19 unsafe given crowding at the doorway which is to be expected. At the table however are C19 safe conditions with air barriers between all tables and full masking by all staff (and patrons, too, thankfully) which is leagues ahead of most restaurants now-a-days which have no such thoughtfulness. Now to the food, oh maaannnn the photos do the telling. I got the thousand egg fried prawns over fried rice which sounds like an expected taste but it is so so good as its freshness, fine frying execution, wisely paired rice, and overall quality are Like Cafe trademarks. I've ordered here regularly over a year plus and always no matter the constantly evolving, changing, bold, exciting menu which spans dishes of a huge wide pan-Asian variety, they execute so so well. From curries to fried to dente noodles to so many speciality dishes, they just always execute spot on and over and over suggesting high skill in the back of house who never gets enough thanks so I hope this word reaches them. Back to the food: my friend had the white curry over rice which with its bold choices of raisins in the white curry (more akin to gravy) and my other friend's HK street food sampler's wide tour of so many beloved foods afar makes for such a thrilling, fun, happy experience dining in. Service is very good though primarily Mandarin Chinese from our server which works for us, but there is audible English support in other staffers and all are highly responsive and professional. The speedy rate of work is clearly tuned from their year plus since opening. A constant fan base which orders at high volumes makes for confidence you're in for a good time. While HK style cafes are highly competitive with very stiff reviews because there are many sub-styles within them, I highly recommend Like Cafe for so so many wonderful dishes, dining in and out both.

Yelp
Found this place this week and decided to try it. Love it! If you like Hong Kong style food you will absolutely enjoy this place. Their menus are full of pictures so you know what you're getting and their prices are reasonable. I ordered the steak mix grill with curry rice and my hubby got the egg drop beef chow fun and it was very good. This is now one of my go to places!

Michelle C.

Yelp
If you decide to get takeout here, check inside the bags before leaving. I was so looking forward to my noodles but they gave me the wrong order :( sucks too bc I paid for something more expensive and got a cheaper dish. The fried rice is nothing special but it was decent and filling.

Yelp
Good prices and variety, food was just ok. Hainan chicken was cooked well, with a mix of white and dark meat. Sauces complimented it well. Wat Dan hor was interesting, good texture, but lacking somewhere in flavor. Cheung fun was quite good, cooked perfectly. Fish balls were eh, the curry flavor was not infused as much as I'd prefer. Nice ambiance/seating arrangement.

Yelp
I came here because I saw Rich W. photos of this place and thought I must give it a try. Definitely not disappointed. If fact, I now feel like I was introduce to a nice hidden gem in Bensonhurst. My friend also live close by so we came here for an early dinner. Their seats are section off with curtains so that's pretty cool and their seats are comfortable. Service is also fast so if you're a slow eater, you might want to not order all in one shot, because the food will come out fast and furious. We ordered their three dishes total. For starter, we had their fishball, rolled noodles and stuff veggie dish (street food style) and that was so goood!! Their fishball was tender, their stuff fish paste for the veggie was on point and their rolled noodles was nice and chewy and the peanut and hoisen sauce was the added bonus. We also enjoyed their HK dry noodle and their okra with shrimp. Everything was prepared and seasoned perfectly. I was utterly impressed with this hole-in-the-wall restaurant. I love this place so much that I'm actually planning to take my folks here so they too can enjoy some Honk Kong style cafe cuisine. Definitely do not underestimate this place and give it a try. Their pricing is also super reasonable. If you don't believe me, check out their menu.

Yelp
Updated June 2022: It's not the same Like Cafe. It's not HK style cafe or Cha-Chan Tang food anymore... they still have the breakfast sets, which is a fan favorite but all other popular items are gone (Taco rice, Katsu with green curry, silky egg with roast pork.., the dumplings, etc..) About 90% of their menu is some Malaysian fusion and not very good at it. Some are sadly mediocre at best.. like many if their noodle soup dishes. Even our favorite Churn-Fun are not as they used to be... One huge set back: their SERVICE is horrible and down right "mean"... I can understand the HK attitude when you're actually from HK but these "new" workers are not HK'er.. they sound over-worked and stressed out. We used to come to Like Cafe every Sunday, sometimes weekdays for dinner... that was back then, when it catered to HK style food. I remembered the ladies being friendly and would joke with my kids and friends whenever I bring new visitors to try the food. Now, I would not recommend to any of my friends... just heart broken. Luckily there are other options... further away.

Yelp
I always get their baked dishes and it's always a hit or miss. Some days they'll get the baked cheese and rice just right but other days it'll be undercooked. Other food is good (haianese chicken) but the price has gone up significantly since I first started coming here lol. They do sound kind of rude sometimes over the phone but it's fine I come for the food not service TIP: Cash only and they close on Tuesdays.

Wendy L.

Yelp
Food was alright. We waited for about 15 min and with a decent sized party. There were other people waiting too. We sat down and ordered first... They did not enter the order until they took the other two tables' orders. Of course our orders came last. Even though we sat down and ordered first. Terrible service and management. The place had typical restaurant furniture.
google avatar

Yelp
Love everything on the menu including the drinks. Service is ok, I have no complaints about it. Wait time can be long on weekends

Ac T.

Yelp
Very bad service and no one is picking up the call for order, when I went inside to order food I saw the front desk guy keep hang up all incoming call that's crazy and BS to the customer said that the internet is not working also charged tax but ask everybody to pay cash .I won't order or eat there anymore.

Yelp
2day we came to this place earlier morning.. people already eating not that crowded.. here what we ordered.. bill around $40 with tax & tips total.. we sit down about 15 mins.. eat & go.. milk tea was good but for $3 small cup. my 1st time here.. meal was just ok to me.

Hui Xuan L.

Yelp
The waiters were really patient and kind!!! The wait time was just right and the food was incredibly good. Definitely recommend the beef spaghetti noodles I got!
google avatar

Cheryl W.

Yelp
I was really hungry and didn't want to cook, so I had my husband order the pepper beef stir-fried spaghetti for me while he chose a different style of noodles. When I opened my food, it was evident that the noodles had been overcooked. They were dry, and the sauce lacked its intended flavor. I wonder if they've changed the chef because the food seems to be getting worse and worse in taste

Yelp
This review is for their delivery. Frankly it's a shady practice that you don't include a note about $$varying delivery fees on the menu. Every other place I've ordered delivery from doesn't include extra fees. I was so surprised when I heard on the phone that the delivery fee is $4...and I live 12mins away by car/biking. Like what? Plus you have to tip on top of the fee. They didn't even mention the delivery fee until AFTER I named all the stuff I'd like. Guess I was in too deep at that point, so I "romaine" calm & hope for the best. The food arrived about 40mins later. No complaints on the Baked Pork Chop in Tomato Sauce over Rice, classic & good. The Baked Portuguese Chicken, however, just chunks of cream, not a single hint of coconut flavor in the sauce. The chicken taste great though. This place is owned by the same people from Longevousjoy in the area, so same quality of foods & service, aka 3-stars at most. Only certain items are a hit, like most people agreed on the rice noodle rolls in sauce. I won't order delivery from here ever again, I'll just order from the cafe across from JMart.

Yelp
Really delicious food, but wow the restaurant was COLD. I mean, cold enough that even wearing my winter jacket wasn't enough. Somehow it felt colder inside the restaurant than outside. On a spring or fall morning, Like Cafe would be great for brunch. Lots of classics and a great place to bring friends or family. Some of the employees don't speak anything but Cantonese which may make it harder to communicate, but otherwise everyone is friendly. They also deliver food to the wrong table often so make sure you know what your food looks like. Would like to mention that the food is a solid 4.5/5 though. It's everything else that brings the overall down to 3.
google avatar

Heidi M.

Yelp
Been wanting to eat here for YEARS and finally got to do it on Saturday for brunch. I'd been to Jin Jin (another HK cafe) across the street a couple of times because there was never a wait over there, unlike here... I think that goes to show which one's better! We waited ~20 min which was expected and WORTH IT. The food, menu and atmosphere here is definitely way more authentic / street-food style in comparison to Jin Jin. We ordered sooo much food (dine in AND takeout) and I feel like I still haven't even scratched the surface with some of their other offerings. If I lived closer, this would be one of my go-to spots. My friends/followers on Yelp will know that I live & breathe cheong fun (steamed rice rolls with the deeeelicious peanut/hoisin sauce). Well. Like Cafe probably does it best in NYC. If not the best, top 3 EASY. The noodles are just so fresh, chewy, light & airy. The curry fishballs are also perfect. The presentation of the dish resembles HK to a T, with the skewer sticks and everything. If I were to come for only one thing, it'd be this dish. (With the iced HK milk tea which is also perfect) At the restaurant, I also tried the beef tripe, HK style pan fried noodles, baked tomato porkchop rice, beef chow fun w/ egg sauce - the classics and done so well here. The beef chow fun w/egg sauce was new for us and a pretty interesting take on wet chow fun. Then we ordered a bunch of stuff to take home with us - a couple more orders of the cheong fun, truffle spaghetti (yum), baked portuguese coconut cream chicken rice (yum) , baked corn cream fish rice (yum), and the boneless hainan chicken (yum). All sooo good. Be warned of the baked rice dishes though - they come in the tin containers w/ thin plastic covers and since they are scorching hot, the plastic may melt into the food on top. They have such an extensive menu including a good amount of Malay/Singaporean street foods that I'm super eager to try. Then there's the soup noodles and pineapple buns - some more classics that I've yet to try as well. Everything's priced reasonably (not cheap but not crazy expensive) and I can't wait to return!

Yelp
I'm always down for some classic, comfort Hong Kong style food, and this place delivers on that. Came around 11AM on a Saturday with only a few tables occupied, but by the time we left, close to 1PM, there were plenty of people waiting. The storefront isn't fancy, and we walked past by it without even realizing we had reached our destination, so pretty surprised by the crowd. Love the indoor dining set up! Once you walk in, you're presented with a hallway and on each side, are different colored curtained dining spaces. You can pull the curtains close for privacy, which we didn't really see people using but our waitress actually helped pull it for us. So despite the typical lively background noise, it was a relatively nice atmosphere to enjoy a lunch date with friend. Hong Kong Street Food Combo: not on the menu they put on the tables, but it's plastered on the wall, so look there. This comes with the rice noodles with the sauces, 4 curry fishballs, a skewer of 4 pieces of tender tripe, and 3 pieces of stuffed peppers/eggplant. The tripe was the highlight here, while the fish paste from the stuffed vegs were plain and not deep fried enough for my liking. Salted Prawn Fried Rice: ughhh soooo good. Highly recommend this if you're a salted egg fan! You can taste it in the fried rice as well as the prawns, as you should. But I've been to places where they say salted egg fried this and that, but actually, only the protein has the flavor while the rest of the carbs is cooked regularly. THIS tho, is packed with that delicious salted egg yolk flavor. Shrimp aren't too big, but I love the crispy coating and inside was perfectly cooked, still juicy. 10/10 coming back for this alone Hong Kong Chow Mein/Crispy Noodles: there are two other dishes that contain protein (a pork and seafood one) but it looked too saucy that it would soften the crispy noodles, so didn't opt for those. Kinda regret it because even tho the noodles were thin and good, it really needed an egg and a protein...otherwise it's just too plain with a few pieces of beansprouts.

Yelp
BOING BOING BOING BOING just bounced into the neighborhood and saw this delightful cafe that was selling some hong kong food. Ordered the following for takeout: Beef Ho Fun thingy: 4/5 pretty solid Instant noodles with egg + spam: ive never had a bad instant noodle one but it can't really surpass a specific level. But i crave it sometimes cause i grew up eating it. Triple thingy thing (wtf is this thing called?): 3/5 yeah idk i think it's worth going to again since i crave this type of food a lot. Can't give it too much praise though since it's kinda just aight.
google avatar

Yelp
A good HK cafe is hard to find, but this place definitely satisfy your need when you want that HK food. The setup is kind of chaotic... everything is still very "dining during the pandemic" with plastic curtains everywhere. The food isn't consistent but still pretty good.
google avatar

Blade D.

Yelp
Food quality went down in 2023 after renovations. Don't eat the curry octopus, radish beef tripe street food combo. So disappointed at this restaurant.
google avatar

Shirley H.

Yelp
Decent cafe for HK style dishes - good to come here with people to share plates. The menu is packed with food options - lovely visuals Taste wise, I got the sloppy noodle for myself which had a lot going on but was a bit underwhelming for flavor compared to visual. There is ramen noodles hidden underneath everything. The pineapple ice is really just sprite with pineapple bits and a lemon slice. Nothing special but the combination works. The baked rice dish is much bigger in reality compared to picture. Honestly could have just got that and an appetizer to share for the table (4 ppl party). Couldn't finish it all and took leftovers to go - packaged in the same aluminum dish as it was served. Good filling meal for the price

Yelp
The employee sat my family down by the door. There was no heat in the restaurant on one of the coldest days. Everyone had to wear a jacket while eating. After having about 3 bites of our food, we decided to get the check so we can just eat at home. The food was also very disappointing and we have been dined here many times before. The quality of food has gone down over the year. We paid for the food and as we were about to leave, the waitress demanded at least 18% of tips as we only gave them 15%. There were no signs, labels or anything in the restaurant or menu saying it was a requirement to pay at least 18% for tips. Tips are optional and freely given by customers. A recommended or suggested tip is not the same as an auto gratuity. With suggested tips, the percentage is merely a guideline, not a requirement. The customer may choose what tip amount they want to give their server, if any. Restaurants should clearly label suggested tips and automatic gratuities on the bill. Please keep that mind before your employees try to do that with other customers. With that being said, your restaurant wont be receiving anymore business from me.

Yelp
I ordered take out at Like Cafe since it was close by in the neighborhood. Longevous Joy at Bay Parkway is my usual place but since two restaurants are by the same owner, how differ can the food be? Boy, was I wrong! The rice noodles with the peanut sauce was bland; very stingy on the peanut sauce. Peanut sauce was thin and light. The order also included cups of soy sauce? This order was a disaster. My other order was the soy sauce chow mein which was kinda wet like lo mein. It tasted okay but didn't have that wok taste to it. Should have walked a little further to Longevous Joy.

Yelp
My group of 4 came on a Sunday and waited for ~20 minutes to be seated. The place is pretty cluttered and tight. What we ordered: - HK Street Food combo (beef tripe, stuffed veggies, fish balls and rice rolls) ~$10 - Hometown pearl noodle (thick noodles) ~$10 - Jumbo triple baked rice (chicken + pork cutlet) $20 - Milk tea $1.75 eac There was a table next to ours that the waiters kept mistaking their orders for ours and vice versa. The portion of hometown pearl noodle was small. The HK street food combo was also disproportionately small to be $10. The ingredients are low cost but they only give a few of each - only 4 fish balls, 1 of each stuffed pepper and eggplant (3 total), 2 skewers of rice rolls, and 1 skewer of beef tripe. The beef tripe looked more like fish cake, confusing. The jumbo triple baked rice was a good serving, as it should for $20. However, the flavor was lacking. It was supposed to be a tri-flavored dish, there was one side for typical coconutty/cheesy Portuguese dish, then on the other was what tasted more tomato-y. The middle was indistinguishable. The pork was decent but had a sweet flavored sauce around it. The chicken and pork cutlet were not dry which is a positive. The milk tea had the right amount of condensed milk. Being generous with 3 stars; however, I would not come back. I would rather eat at JinJin across the street which feels more spacious and has better tasting food.

Yelp
Pretty good food, nice and clean cafe. Quick service and large portions. We were seated pretty quickly upon arrival. Would recommend

Yelp
Pretty ok spot for HK chachaantang cuisine. I had the tomato meat sauce with spaghetti and it was surprisingly good. I was looking for more of the baked dishes with lots of cheese on top, so I was a bit disappointed when it didn't look the way I expected. But like I said, it was actually really good and the meat sauce was a good blend of savory and sweet with a hint of sourness. My date had the pineapple fried rice and it was ok, nothing mind blowing. I felt that it could've been a bit saltier. The presentation of the dish made it seem like it would be more flavorful, but that wasn't the case. I was a little bit confused about the service because the staff seems like they don't really know you're there and I had to wave someone down to get a menu. I wasn't sure if it was because they were busy, but from previous reviews this seems like a recurring thing. All in all, a pretty ok place for chachaantang food and I want to come back to try their other items, however the service could be better.

Yelp
It was our first time here and, honestly, the entire experience was quite underwhelming. To say we were disappointed is putting it mildly. My sister and I, we, came here last week, on Friday around 1pm, and although the restaurant was busy, we were promptly seated. Despite the prompt seating though, the service definitely leans more towards the mediocre side of things. The lady receiving us pretty much pointed to an empty table, dropped us off and left us to our own devices. No water or warm tea was served... and hell, we didn't even have menus to look at! Another server came by and brought us dining plates and utensils, but even after a good 5-10 mins, we still didn't have menus. Like WTF? We kept glancing around and saw that other tables had these TVs with menus taped to the screens, but our table just had an empty screen. The two of us ended up looking on their Yelp business page for menu pics, but at one point, I even considered rushing to another table and ripping off the menu to bring back to look at (which is probably the less polite and less civilized thing to do lol). As it turns out, even looking on Yelp for menu pics is the wrong thing to do as the menu has changed drastically -- no more soup dumplings, no more wings (and probably no more a bunch of other things too). When we tried to order the soup dumplings, the server told us that they no longer make soup dumplings, and thus, she gave us their updated menu. Well, finally! After perusing the menu a second time, we ordered the Fishball Cheong Fun, the Pad Thai, and the Beef Tripe to share, and also an Iced Lemon Tea for my sister and an Iced HK Milk Tea for myself. I highly HIGHLY recommend the Fishball Cheong Fun. The cheong fun was so fresh, light, and chewy and the fishballs actually taste like curry (unlike some places that say "curry fishball" but have no curry taste whatsoever). The drinks were quite decent too, but the Pad Thai and the Beef Tripe were absolutely terrible -- both were incredibly bland and essentially flavorless. With all that's said, I can't picture the two of us ever returning. Well, maybe just for the Fishball Cheong Fun. ** I wanted to give this review somewhere between 2 to 3 stars, but Yelp doesn't do half stars and 2 stars seems pretty harsh (especially taking into consideration COVID-19), so 3 stars it is.

Yelp
Like Cafe is a cozy chachantang that will really transport you to Hong Kong. My friend got a good kick out of the fact that tables are equipped with a button to ring for service. Currently, tables are divided off with shower curtains, which really adds to privacy, even if it's not the most aesthetic. We went for lunch on a Thursday at 12pm and it was probably at 85% capacity -- definitely popular with the locals. I came into it expecting standard Hong Kong style fare, but they actually have a wide range of items, including popular Thai, Singaporean, and Malaysian dishes. Many dishes are $10 and under, so you and your friends or family can definitely order a wide variety without breaking the bank. We ordered a breakfast set (buttered bo lo bao and instant noodles with spam), curry fish balls and cheurng fun, and prawn mee. Loved everything we ordered! I definitely prefer the curry fish balls and cheurng fun here compared to Kow Loon Cafe over on 86th St. Really great portions, perfect for sharing or devouring on your own if you're hungry. Would definitely come back to try more items on the menu, but also for the classic chachantang faves.

Yelp
This place had a little bit of everything, Hong Kong, Chinese, Korean, Malaysian, etc. Even the music they put on was diverse. We came when it was pretty busy and the service was still very quick. Every table was separated by curtains so it felt like you had a lot of privacy. The food was affordable and very tasty. The stuffed tofu with curry mee was only $6.50ish. It's similar to curry mee with young tau fu which you can find at a Malaysian restaurant but it usually costs around $10. Although there wasn't a lot of toppings, for $6.50 I thought it was worth it. The beef tripe is better than the beef tripe you find at dim sum places and they give a generous amount. For an extra $1.50, you can get a drink to come with your meal. This was probably the best cha cha tang style restaurant I have been to in NYC. TLDR: Good and affordable food. Quick service. 5/5 would come here again.

Yelp
It's a little crazy busy Hong Kong style cafe restaurant. Many options with affordable prices. The food is average and too much MSG. The taste of milk tea is below average. There are other places in Brooklyn that offer better HK food

Yelp
The times on both Yelp and Google are inaccurate. We got there around 10:10 and the gates were closed so we thought maybe it opened at 11 like Google said. We came back at 11 and it was packed. They have shower curtains to separate different dining parties. Their menu is a bit messy and all over the place. Seems like they can't seem to focus on one cuisine. I'm usually a fan of their Portuguese chicken over rice. Lately they have definitely reduced the amount of chicken in the dish probably due to the rising costs of chicken(chicken shortage anyone?) Their breakfast combos are a deal, comes with a sandwich, choice of noodle, and a drink. Honestly can't expect too much from such a cheap meal. The satay was decent and the instant noodle wasn't over cooked. I do like their hk style Cherng fun with the peanut sauce. Their toast with peanut butter and syrup is to die for. A deep fried carby earthy sweet delight.

Yelp
I've noticed the majority of the complaints were about the wait time. If you're complaining about waiting, eat at Mcdonald's. If a restaurant has a line to be seated, that's a good sign. I waited about 20 minutes, got seated, and ordered the breakfast special. Their breakfast option came with a drink and a fluffy egg sandwich. This place is pretty much bang for the buck. This place is a solid fusion spot.

Yelp
The Jumbo Triple baked rice dish was huge! It could feed 3 people. The rice was really good and everything in it was flavorful. I also ordered curry fish balls but those were quite expensive and didn't taste that great.

Yelp
Started coming here a little over half a year ago because they had the Hong Kong staples such as the soy sauce noodles, beef chow fun, Cherng fun and a cheap fake shark fin soup. Went today and the menu shrunk by a whole page, everything I mentioned was gone except for the cherng fun and soup. They only have cheese baked (not great tbh, hk tea and sushi has bigger portions and more flavor, also think they used American cheese ) the breakfast/all day noodle specials, Hainanese chicken and some curry dishes. The service was never that great but today I rang the bell (they have one at each table) several times (you can hear the sound of the bell after it's rang) and they still never came over, had to wave someone down after waiting and seeing the server walk pass our table several times in order to place order or request the check They still have signs saying " prices are increased by a dollar, on top of the menu price" which is understandable because of Covid..but they released a new menu and couldn't update it? Also when I went to pay...some of the dishes were $2 extra, inquired about the price increase and she said "the sign said there's an increase" (of a dollar) ...seems like a scam tbh. TLDR; new menu with limited dishes and not updated prices, says it's a dollar increase but some are $2
