"Eagle Rock’s Ice Cream Luv is, as you might guess, an ice cream shop, but with a menu that resembles an old-fashioned soda fountain: banana splits, ice cream sundaes, and root beer floats (plus a coffee float, too). Classic flavors in this technicolor corner shop include butter pecan, rocky road, and strawberry cheesecake." - sylvio martins

Legendary New England vegan ice cream shop now located in a new spot just 4 miles from the MA border in a shared space with another amazing and independently owned vegan business, Providence Vegan Deli (PVDeli). I tried some of the regular flavors today which were delicious but decided to go with the old classic soft serve vanilla.

alright, stay with me while i get on my hands and knees and bow to the absolute best vegan ice cream i have ever had (and will ever have). my husband and i were in providence for only 3 days, we went to Like No Udder 3 times…and wanted to go 4, but we couldn’t make it out of dinner with my grandma before 9 (i love you, grandma, but have you ever had pistachio ice cream that makes you shed a tear????) i was able to compliment the geeeeenius behind the unreal-delicious-can’t-believe-i-don’t-live-here ice cream, and i hope she genuinely knows i wasn’t bluffing when i said i ate pistachio gelato every day when i lived in italy, and id choose her pistachio ice cream every single day of the week and twice on sundays.🤎 also….everyone behind the counter makes me want to cry because they’re all so kind, nice, and literally just make me want to smile. i’m emotional writing this because i want to move to providence for this business (and the joint one in the building, PVD, but that’ll be on another review….) thank you, from lil ol me, my husband, and the animals.🤎 we will be making the return trip to providence mostly for the ice cream and deli…(and grandma)

open again!!! just in time for the hot weather. the vibes in there were great, lots of excitement in the air. i got a strawberry soft serve with sprinkles, and ended up going back to get an affogato w/ peanut butter chocolate drip & caramel drizzle 😋 I’ve always loved the packaged snacks they carry too! It’s hard finding yummy vegan sweets like these in stores, so I always have to grab something. I do wish there were more cashew free flavors, but thankfully I’m okay with small amounts and the staff is very helpful with communicating allergens and chances of cross contamination. so if you have tree nut or peanut allergies, there aren’t as many options, but you can hopefully find something! but everything is delicious. I’m very excited to see how it fills in when baked goods and such are available! this place is gonna be dangerous for my sweet tooth lol. also I love the new location - it’s not far from my work & it’s close to a lot of cool shops.

I'm lactose intolerant so going here + welcoming of everyone was a wonderful experience. I was so happy being here, like my heart felt lifted by the experience of just picking out two flavors, what toppings, and enjoying it inside. If I lived closer I'd go here every week as a treat. Go here if you like ice cream, go here if you like super happy and friendly staff, go here if you love your own local businesses!

Google
This is such a wonderful local business, and the owner and all of her employees are so sweet. All of the items they sell are unique and special. The new location has allowed them to expand their offerings. I especially love the non-ice cream, savory offerings such as the knishes. All the pricing is very reasonable. Going to this business is not just going out for ____, but actually a whole enjoyable experience in itself.

Google
Everything is dairy free! It’s just like a regular ice cream shop, except nothing is made with cows milk. I tried their soft serve (cause I haven’t had soft serve in YEARS!) and they had a strawberry and maple twist - AMAZING!

Google
I'm so happy I found this place. My whole family enjoyed their delicious vegan ice cream 🍦. I got a Chocolate pint and a Pistachio pint. The Pistachio Vegan ice cream was my favorite. It was creamy, full of flavors and it was simply amazing. The Chocolate Vegan ice cream was ok. I wish it had more Chocolate flavor My daughter loved it and asked for seconds. The ice cream was light and it didn't upset my stomach. The ice cream was was a great treat.

Google
I can confidently say I’ve been dreaming of this ice cream since I had it nearly a month ago. My boyfriend and I stopped in after having Thai across the street. What a treat we stumbled upon! I am vegan and gluten free, and the menu/owner could not have been more accommodating! We tried the key lime (insane and I’m usually a key lime cynic), alongside the GF peanut butter Oreo flavor with a GF homemade brownie and magic shell. If nostalgia and desserts from scratch had a child, this would be it. Everyone was so friendly, even as they were about to close—they let in a few customers after hours. I can’t wait to return!

Yelp
Love this place SO much. If I could give a thousand stars.... *chefs kiss* thank you to the woman who served me the day I went in last week. She made it extra special for me. Absolute peach, I feel bad, I don't remember her name!! Anyway I went in for the first time this season, very overwhelmed by the beautiful new building, soaking in the ambiance, and trying to figure out what I wanted. I'm quite indecisive and I couldn't muster up what I wanted so I gave her the ultimate responsibility.... DEALER'S CHOICE! Haha She asked if I had any allergies, or preferences on flavor. I explain I'm not allergic to anything at all and I LOVE everything. I mentioned I'm a huge fan of funky flavor combinations. My friend ordered his ice cream, I paid, and wasn't paying attention to what she grabbed for me. She then hands me this beautiful concoction that she called "the illegal scoop" -because technically you're not supposed to do this but she mixed three flavors into the one scoop! IT WAS AMAZING! I hope this review doesn't get her in trouble, in fact... she should have a raise! It really made my day and made me feel super special. Cherry Garcia, Cookies N' Cream, Vanilla Coconut..... it was absolutely phenomenal.

Yelp
This was my first frozen non dairy treat experience. I went with my parents who are vegan, and it was their first time at Like No Udder as well. At the counter they're super friendly and encourage you to try some flavors. I ended up picking a strawberry flavor, and I found the experience pretty close to ice cream, just slightly different. That particular flavor was made with coconut milk. My parents were also pretty happy with the quality. The store is decorated in a whimsical way, and they have a few tables available. The scoop sizes are a little small, but the prices are also low compared to other options in the area.

Yelp
fun fact, you're actually better off eating foods that are the same temperature as outside to regulate your body! so i enjoy ice cream in the cold, especially this ice cream. i should not consume dairy and should not consume gluten (emphasis on should), so this place is a haven. everything is vegan and most of it is gluten free. came on the weekend before christmas and had the most wonderful service trying a bunch of flavors. i tried the tart strawberry, the eggnog, the candy cane, and lemon bar. all of them were so good but then i noticed soft serve dispensers and they have the traditional vanilla and chocolate. but i saw next to it that they have matcha and mint and you can get them in a swirl. i tried that and was sold. it tastes like peppermint candy cane tea sweetened. i could not believe it was vegan. i was even more delighted to learn i could get a gluten free wafer cone or gf sugar cone. it was like all the childhood nostalgia with all the flavor and none of the tummy ache. i also like this hope st location because you can sit inside casually before continuing on.

Yelp
Vegan.. but who cares, it's just so good!! absolutely stop in. They rotate their menu. They switch things up and have even helped host pop ups for other small companies in the area and collabs. Easy in and out. Everyone has always been super nice!

Robert S.

Yelp
Lovely ice cream sandwich. Loved the texture of the ice cream. And the crispness of the cookies that flanked the sweet yummy center. The mint notes were very good and the overall ice cream experience was rich and creamy. A great vegan choice !!

Yelp
I had been meaning to try like no udder for years, but never made it over so I was very excited to see that they had moved a short walk from me on hope street! I've already been multiple times since the move and have been impressed both times. It seems like they have a rotating list of flavors and I tried a chocolate mint Oreo that was quite good. They offer samples so you can try before you commit and every employee that has served me has been very friendly. I appreciate that they have a variety of base options (coconut, cashew, peanut) but so far I've only tried cashew ones. I will definitely be back this summer now that it's so close!

Yelp
Good mint chip "ice cream" cone, I tried other flavors but none really comes to the satisfaction level of the mint chip. Im not blown away by any of the other flavors, The chocolate does not really rise to top notch, nor the pistachio, They leave me wanting more flavor. Some servers are more pleasant and personable than others. Atmosphere is so so. Hours are ok, but you have to wait till 1pm if you are craving "ice cream " 3.6

Yelp
Like No Udder sells vegan soft serve ice cream. Though I am not vegan, their ice cream is always good. I've had their Thai iced tea prior. I was excited to see Like No Udder as a stop for the 6th Annual Search for the Best Scoop Shop RI with RI Food Fights. This time I had their Coconut Lace ice cream. It is coconut ice cream with chocolate flakes. It was really yummy. I like the consistency and texture of the ice cream. Service is always good and quick. Looking forward to trying their other flavors.

Anju P.

Yelp
I wanted to try Like No Udder's ice cream as they come as the best top vegan ice cream place in various polls, year after year. They offer several flavors and all the possible toppings you find at a regular diary serving ice cream place. They had a tiny size option which was perfect for my some of my family members who had a heavy lunch. I opted for a 2 scoops size which was decent and the ice creams (almond joy & coconut lace) tasted delicious. The price was not bad considering their popularity. The staff was super friendly and sweet.

Don M.

Yelp
Love this place. A haven for the lactose intolerant! Delicious treats served with a smile!

Sanjay G.

Yelp
It is quite a regular (like any other ice cream) from choices perspective. The owners have something about the cats - so you will see a lot of cat pictures and even the door hook at cat. It was nice stop on the way for our kiddo to get a scoop of ice-cream. The prices are quite reasonable, so while I initially wrote a 4 star review, I upgraded it to five. It is a great place.

carla b.

Yelp
The ice cream was pretty good. ALL vegan y'all! Great prices and friendly service. There is a deli in the same space. Watch out: they moved and now on hope street.

Bre B.

Yelp
Really creamy, delicious nondairy ice cream! Great selection of flavors. I chose almond joyful and mint choc chip. I loved both!

Sara A.

Yelp
A gem of a vegan spot that I return to time and again - journeying a few hours to do so! Despite the relocation, I was recently very happy to be reunited with your ice cream, and especially delighted to find pistachio! It's a rare vegan offering! You're just a dream ice cream shop and I thank you for existing.

Ian S.

Yelp
Not just excellent ice cream (which is a given) but also awesome vibe with stuff from local artists, silly pet videos on repeat and a mitzvah board (which is such a great idea!) Personally, I was really excited to see Thai iced tea ice cream on the menu. The only other I've had is in San Francisco, at Joe's Ice Cream. Now I need to taste test between the two someday!

Amanda C.

Yelp
Like No Udder is a fantastic establishment truly like no other. I remember several years ago when they had their food truck and vegan ice cream was really not a thing yet. My husband and I traveled to hunt down the ice cream truck and at the time they only had serve soft serve. Every time we come to Providence we always go to Like No Udder after dinner for ice cream their ice cream flavors are absolutely amazing! They do have options that are gluten-free. They also specialize in selling jerky and most recently have been selling baked goods as well. The owner is always in the store and she's always so happy and pleasant and always has the best customer service. They recently opened up the inside portion of their store front so now you can sit inside and eat your ice cream, but they also still have the outdoor seating.

Greg L.

Yelp
Great tastes and dessert flavors for anyone, don't think of their non-dairy as a step down from dairy iced treats, but as a bold step in a different direction. I really like the Thai Iced Tea and Tart Strawberry. Friendly folk and a bright new location - busy even at 7pm on a Wednesday night. I think the new Hope St location will be more popular than ever.

Ava M.

Yelp
Not a vegan, but damn is this soft serve delicious!! Creamy, cold, and classic! At $3 for a cone and no dairy, this is well worth a visit

Tyler H.

Yelp
My partner introduced me to this little gem I want to say about 2 years ago now. I'm obsessed with coming here! We're vegetarian and I personally have to avoid lactose, so it was a lovely surprise to learn that Like No Udder has THE tastiest desert drinks-- I'd take these even over dairy-based deserts (even if I could have them again). I've mostly interacted with the owner, who is super friendly and I chat with every time I go there, though all the staff seem friendly. Service is fast-- even with a long line I didn't wait more than 10 mins, though I'd gladly wait longer. My order: chocolate 'milk'shake with peanut butter sauce, we get it with soy milk but I've had it with oat before also and it's alllllllll delicious!

Kyle S.

Yelp
Simply the best! I'm not vegan, but you would never know by the amazing taste of LNU's hard and soft serve ice cream! The Thai Tea hard serve is a staple and a must-try! I have recently become obsessed with their rotating soft serve flavors like butterscotch, pistachio, and maple. Karen and the crew are amazing and their new location on Hope St is perfection.

Lisa Y.

Yelp
The best vegans I've cream around, they have all the topping you could ever want. They also have a bunch of vegan products for sale in the shop. Such a great little place! We love bringing our dog and hanging out eating our ice cream

Amanda M.

Yelp
Ice cream like no udder. Vegan and dairy free ice cream that'll have you screaming for more. Cute little shop with a walk up window. Menu isn't huge but they offer a good variety of flavors. From classic vanilla chocolate swirl soft serve to more crazy flavors such as the Cookie Monster. Flavors rotate so there is always something new to try. With so many fun options, you'll be coming back again and again. Choose between cones, shakes, ice cream sandwiches, frozen lemonade, and more. My personal favorite is the Cookie Monster, a coconut milk based ice cream loaded with cookie pieces, it's a true delight. Employees always ask if there are any food allergies in our party which is much appreciated.

Beverly L.

Yelp
I thought this would be special. It was not. I got the ice, sweet but not creamy. It was a real disappointment. I will try it one more time just in case I got the one flavor that didn't taste of cream.

D L.

Yelp
Somewhat inconsistent but the good stuff is good. I've had their normal ice creams and it's delicious. But the vanilla soft serve was SALTY? Like more salty than sweet. And didn't taste like vanilla. Actually tasted like plain salty oat milk. I'll support them for their diverse vegan products as the other stuff is good but I don't know about that soft serve.

Cliff T.

Yelp
I am an Ice Cream maker from out of town and visited Like No Udder today. Had a lovely visit with the owner and her staff. She showed me around and we talked shop. The ice cream is good, the prices are amazing, and the service is impeccable. You can sit inside or walk around. There's something for everyone! Recommend especially if you are vegan.

Liselle L.

Yelp
We found this cute ice cream shop while we were out in Rhode Island and decided to give it a shot! We were super excited to see there was Thai tea-flavored ice cream, so we gave it a shot! Unfortunately, it tasted kind of strange - It tasted like it had the earthiness of Thai tea ice cream, but without the creaminess that's characteristic of Thai tea ice cream! It was disappointing and we ended up tossing about a third to half of the ice cream. I have a feeling maybe it was just the Thai tea flavor that was a flop and I have hope that the other flavors here would work out better! Like No Udder was still a super cute ice cream shop to check out, but I'd stay away from the Thai tea-flavored ice cream.

David K.

Yelp
Love that neighborhood! I wish they were fully open, but the window service was fine. Tiny twist cone very affordable and delicious, wish I could have tried the other foods. Miss the truck!

Jessica M.

Yelp
I'm recently dairy-free and was visiting from out of town. I was so happy to find this absolute gem! The employees were very friendly and helpful and the mitzvah board brought me so much joy. Ice cream was delicious, as was their challah. All around great place.

Merideth M.

Yelp
Such a cute place! They have a wide selection of menu items ranging from, hard ice cream, soft ice cream, meatless beef jerky, and several other items. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are average. I got the hard ice cream flavor, laced coconut. It's a coconut ice cream with chocolate flakes. Really good! Still had a nice ice cream consistency, but didn't make me sick and bloated after like normal ice cream would since everything here is vegan, so that's a plus. Highly recommend!

Lina V.

Yelp
Best vegan ice cream around! Can't tell the difference between vegan and regular soft serve!!!

Roxette C.

Yelp
Udderly disappointed by the cookie dough. Just cause it's vegan doesn't mean it has to taste like pure trash. The peanut butter was a little better. No one they don't do samples. If I had sampled it I would have turned around. Buyers beware. Feels unethical. We were deceived. Next time let people sample like most ice cream shops.

Aastha B.

Yelp
We tasted the Chai Spice scoop in sugar cone. It's hard to find mildly sweet desserts like this one, woul recommend this vegan ice cream if place if you are visiting Providence.

Sarai R.

Yelp
Went for the first time this past weekend and WOW! All dairy-free soft AND hard ice cream as well many many toppings. First time I've had ice cream and knew I could have any topping I wished. So exciting! The prices are also very affordable. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town. Staff was friendly and worked quickly as well.

Nate B.

Yelp
Still love this place. The owner and workers are all so lovely. Coffee Oreo iced cream sandwich is my go to, but I wanted to shout out some of the homemade baked goods they have available -- challah bread and knishes. Really yummy stuff, even as a meat and dairy eater.

Frank N.

Yelp
What a nice ice cream shop! VERY nice staff (and helpful). All vegan products :) Ice cream was delicious. 5-stars all the way around. Thank goodness for places like this.

Jackie O.

Yelp
Yummy ice cream, super fast & friendly service. I am obsessed with their pumpkin ice cream and so is my daughter. Plenty of options and variety for anyone, including those with food allergies.

Bridgette F.

Yelp
Although the name Like no Udder is amazing, it could be named I can't believe it's vegan! So good. It's closed inside but quite a few restaurants will never be the same since COVID. I digress, enjoy, I sure did!

Megan S.

Yelp
Some of the best dairy-free and allergy friendly ice cream around! Coffee Oreo tends to be my go-to. If you can't tell by my numerous pictures, I frequent LNU and I'm a huge fan

C B.

Yelp
Tried the pistachio flavor and really did not like it - tasted very artificial. There were whole nuts in the ice cream, but I bit into one that has gone bad. Lots of great reviews so I may have just been unlucky, but I was excited to try this place and left really disappointed.

Tyler G.

Yelp
Like No Udder speaks for itself. Vegan or not you find yourself here treating yourself and your family. Their are a vegan run company who love animals and love when you bring your furry friends for ice cream. The owners are the SWEETEST in all of RI. They are patient and their guests respect them. So many flavors to choose from down to vegan soft serve. Soooooo many topping and cones, OH MY! My recent favorite special they did was the GF Vegan Waffle ice cream sundae. It was divine. And I dont use that word to describe really anything ever so great job like no udder. Again vegan or not. You should try it out :)

Neil H.

Yelp
Tiny portions. Tasted like dirt but with a worse after taste. Threw it away and went around the corner to B&J.

Brandon L.

Yelp
Vegan offerings, expertly crafted, with service that pays some extra special attention to food sensitivities. Here for the RI Food Fights Scoop Shop. It's a cute little place that currently does quite a bit of window service. Their system is very easy to understand, and there is plenty of signage for 6-food distance. My irk with dairy-free ice cream tends to come down to consistency. A lot of the store bought stuff is icy, or makes your mouth dry when you eat it. Not the stuff from Like No Udder. This stuff has an excellent churn, and is super creamy (despite obviously being cream free. We ordered Double Ginger and Chubby Monkey. Our favorite was the Double Ginger - ginger ice cream with ginger chewy candies mixed in. It was SUPER refreshing, and a very generous scoop. The service is great. Typically, it seems standard for you to tell your server about allergies. Before every order, the staff takes great care in making sure you don't have any food sensitivity. It's a very nice touch to some exceptional customer service.

Ron N.

Yelp
I bought an ice cream cake for my wife on 9/24. She loved it so much you really made her birthday. Thank you.

Jessica C.

Yelp
I love Like No Udder. In addition to having one of the only (if not the only?) vegan ice cream trucks in the country, their little window operation conveys vegan ice cream with kindness, efficiency, and care. The flavor options are relatively diverse and all excellent - ranging from peanut butter oreo to Cinnamon Toast Crunch to mint chocolate chip. The unsung hero, in my opinion, is the "everything" topping. It's exactly what it sounds like. I actually don't even know what all is in it; graham cracker pieces, sprinkles, and mini marshmallows, for sure. Like everything else here, it's both whimsical and well executed.

Jamie L.

Yelp
Like No Udder is a Vegan ice cream parlor. In the summer, the purple ice cream truck can be seen at food events around Rhode Island (and sometimes out of state!) The truck only sells shakes, cones, and cups of their vanilla and chocolate soft serve. Entering the store front, you see small tables and chairs from an elementary school. There is a television mounted by the window showing cat clips. As a cat lover, I always watch them! The store has soft serve and rotating hard serve flavors. Each hard serve flavor is labeled with the base, and if any allergens are present. You are able to try samples, which I definitely recommend while the flavor is available! Whenever I think of Like No Udder, I think of the vanilla soft serve. Their vanilla soft serve is my absolute favorite soft serve. It's sweet with a light texture, not too thick or too thin. Just thinking about it now, I want to get one this second! Like No Udder sometimes holds pop ups of Vegan bakeries in the store, such as Celebrated and Miss Vegan. On Sundays, vegan brioche Knead Doughnuts are available for purchase. Overall, you will never leave disappointed. I definitely recommend visiting!

Olivia B.

Yelp
Fantastic vegan ice cream - owner makes herself and works the counter. Must go when in Providence. Don't miss it.

Julia S.

Yelp
Vegan? Lactose intolerant? Anti-dairy industry? No problem! Like No Udder offers customers a range of dairy-alternative products for those craving a sweet treat! And college students get a discount (10% I think?)! It's a quaint shop but the owners are very nice and don't rush you at all! You can sample a few flavors before making up your mind. I tried the matcha and thai tea ice creams, both of which were good - but, in my opinion, not as great as regular ice creams that I have had. Given that all the products are made in house and the prices aren't ridiculous, if you need a dairy substitute, I'd definitely recommend! You'll be greeted by wonderful people and served with the greatest care. Don't expect the best frozen dessert you've ever had, though!

Allie D.

Yelp
FYI- if you check in here you get a free topping! I love this place - it's super cute and has a wide variety of vegan ice cream flavors. It's small but there is normally at least one place to sit. Just beware that their hours have changed recently and they are closed from mid December - late February. I got the sunflower butter with chocolate chips and the mint chip in a wafer cone. It was very filling and so good - pretty much any combination is good here. You can sample flavors before you order and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations. Another plus - they play cute cat and dog videos while you eat. They also have a Mitzvah wall where you can donate ice cream orders to different people on a post-it :) make sure to check this before you order - you might be able to get something for free!
