Lilly’s Hot Chicken - Review - Germantown - Nashville - The Infatuation

"At Lilly’s, the fried leg quarters resemble something you’d get at the Renaissance Faire if the poultry went over to the dark side. This vendor inside the Nashville Farmers’ Market has spice levels ranging from mild to “fear da reaper,” but anything higher than the lowest rung on the ladder and you’ll feel the fire. They don’t skimp on the cayenne, which means that three bites in, everything between your nose and neck will be burning for at least 30 minutes. The best bit is all the crispy skin pieces that fall off while you’re eating. If these delicious, oily flakes, dusted with spice, could make their way into bags and be sold as chips, they’d make a fortune." - Ann Walczak

Hawaiian Hot Chicken Review - Northridge - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Hawaiian Hot Chicken started as a late-night food stand along Reseda Blvd., but has now transitioned into a full brick-and-mortar a few blocks away on Lassen Street. Lines still form during peak weekend hours (when the drunk CSUN students all leave their dorm parties), but just know that the chicken here is worth the wait. Sandwiched in a sweet Hawaiian bun and topped with coleslaw, pickles, and their house “volcano sauce,” it’s different from the Nashville-style hot chicken you see around town, and that’s not a bad thing. The sweetness of both the bun and coleslaw cuts through the heat of the chicken, but never overpowers the meat - or the spice - itself. Definitely get a side order of the luau fries, they’re tremendous." - Brant Cox

Google
We got the medium spice Max Attack and Hot Dam spicy Tenders. First off, if you like Mac and Cheese normally, you have to try the Mac Attack. So much flavor and incredibly filling. I tried a bit of the super spicy tenders and it was eyeball-sweatingly HOT! Very good! The fries are thick and savory. So mouth wateringly good! Would recommend!

Google
Great value, on Nashville hot famous chicken! it got it "spicy" and that was too much for me. I did finish it but it was a struggle. Fries also very nice, and free drink refills!! Take out only, with nice seating in the food court area nearby. Clean and bath rooms close.

Google
Now that's some Nashville Hot! Boom! The juciest most flavorful tenders I've EVER had. Keep up yhe awesome work! I got "Spicy" and for me it was perfect... very hot, had me sweating... but not too hot. Felt it for 15 minutes after. I'll be back for sure every time I'm in Nashville. Thank you.

I tried Lilly’s for the first time today. My selection was the Fried Chicken Sandwich, “spicy” level heat. The flavor was outstanding — the heat was perfect — but the meat was fairly chewy. When I go back, I’m going to try the bone-in fried chicken, which I suspect will be better. The service was fine, but on the slow side (about 15 minutes to get the food). This may be because I ordered at about 12:15, so the lunch crowd may have depleted what they had readily available. Because Lilly’s is located in a stall at the farmers market, atmosphere isn’t really their thing. Overall, I think they are very good, and I’m looking forward to going back next time I’m there around lunch.

Glad we stopped by. Chicken was made fresh and hot. The chicken was juicy but not a ton of flavor. We got the mild so the heat was good.

Google
I’m pretty disappointed by Lily’s Chicken. I paid $16 for a breast combo. I was excited because it was a wet rub fried chicken. However, the product I got was not great. The breading was hard and crunchy and not the good kind of crunchy. Most importantly, the mild rub itself was utterly flavorless. There was no flavor profile at all. The real test of a good wet rub is a flavor profile when the rub soaks into the bread. I tasted oil and a little bit of flavor that’s it. All they need to do to get better is make the rub more flavorful especially and dynamic and work on the crisp with chicken. Would not eat again. Also, there were two people working one was doing all the work and the other was on their phone.

Google
Chicken biscuit. Super nice staff and they baked the biscuit to order. Delish!!! Great price too!

Google
Hot Chicken done well, the spice levels are correctly named! My sandwich was "Dam Hot" and is was my preferred level of warm. The sandwich itself is a nice portion, very juicy and crispy. I was excited to see gizzards on the menu but getting them "Fear the Reaper" hot was a challenge but still very tasty! I'd recommend getting the coleslaw and be ready to get some ice cream afterwards!! The staff were very friendly and the kitchen looks nice and clean. I'd highly recommend Lilly's be added to everyone's Nashville Hot Chicken spots!

Yelp
As someone who was team Hattie B's, Lilly's Hot Chicken is my new favorite spot. We were trying to figure out lunch when we got into town and settled on seeing what the Farmer's Market had. This way, I could get my hot chicken fix, and my wife had options. With Lilly's being cooked to order, I opted for the tenders at the Spicy level. This was definitely hotter than I expected, and I'll probably go Mild next time. The chicken was juicy and had great flavor. The staff was great. Hands down the best Hot Chicken in town.

Yelp
Solid hot chicken place right next to the farmers market near Germantown. Got the "Hot" level (roughly middle of the pack). This chicken is seriously hot.

Yelp
Wow Lily's is no joke, the heat from their hot chicken had me sweating. The server kindly let me place an order with a mix of spicy and hot dam (I was too scared to commit to a whole portion of hot dam but wanted to try it). The sweet honey mustard definitely helped cut through some of the heat but it was very very spicy. I got a side of fried okra with my order and I thought it was tasty - not slimy at all. If you're craving hot chicken, Lily's is a great spot.

Yelp
Visiting Nashville from Los Angeles. I was looking forward to trying the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. I understand Hatty's is supposed to be the spot HOWEVER!!! A local recommended Lilly's Hot Chicken and I am so glad I went. Being Latino from L.A. I know spicy & hot but Lilly's was Good Lawd HOT and so darn delicious. I ordered the medium too... had to send out daughter to go grab us some water bottles. I truly enjoyed the food, the friendly customer service, which I believe was Lilly, husband & son. Cool people!!! I had NO reason to try the big name chicken spot as this was Thee Spot!!! I was there 6/23/24. Gladly support small business. I'm looking forward to visiting Lilly's Hot Chicken again in the future. See Ya from L.A. to Lilly

Yelp
just a tourist who ordered takeout not realizing I would get the opportunity to explore the farmer market a little while grabbing my food! we will be back to try other places for sure! Lilly's hot chicken was exactly what I needed before headed back north. tucked in the back right corner if you're coming in from the main front entrance. great market vibes and decor - lots of seating. everyone was extremely friendly :)

Yelp
Really delicious hot chicken. I am not the best with spice so I ordered a mild and enjoyed the flavor and juiciness of chicken and the crisp skin. My sister like spicy and got the one level hotter we wished there was a level in between the mild and level above it! The Mac and cheese and beans and sides were all generous and delicious. Located in the farmers market which was very convenient and can sit in the seating area nearby.

Yelp
I stumbled across this place after seeing it mentioned on a Facebook food group. I told my coworkers about it because we work near the farmer's market and one of them loves hot chicken. Apparently they knew about it and said there was even a commercial about it on the local TV stations. We ventured to the farmer's market and I swear I never knew it was there. It's at the end of one of the quadrants, right by the exit doors. I don't remember which one but there's a cookie place right in front of it. I never ventured that far and when I asked how long they've been there, one of the workers said May. Six months went by and I didn't know a hot chicken restaurant was down the street? I ordered the chicken tenders with turnip greens. I initially ordered the chicken mild but I got convinced to order it as "Mix The Heat", which is their Spicy (level 2) and Sweet Heat Dry rub combined. I didn't know it was their level 2 until I took my first bite. The chicken was made fresh, it came out piping hot and moist. The meat itself was a little bland but the spices were good. Unfortunately it was too hot for me. You see I love hot chicken but at my age, spicy food doesn't sit well with me. I mean it is delicious going in my mouth but then I pay for it hours later. My coworker usually gets his chicken pretty hot (usually hotter than me) and he said their level 2 was a bit spicier than he would have liked. It made it not very enjoyable. I however powered through and ate it all. Beads of sweat rolled down my face but I finished it all. The turnip greens were ok. Although they had chunks of meat in them, they needed a bit more seasoning. Everything here is a la carte. So with what you see in my pics + a bottled Coke, it was over 20$. It was a hit pricey for the quantity of food. I can get a lot more food at Big Shake's down at North Capitol, which is another 4 minutes down the road.

Yelp
I didn't know this was in the Farmers Market until we were turning in. Get there early. Fries were good and chicken had a nice flavor. Hot enough to make my nose run and make me cough. The staff was very nice.

Yelp
This by far is the best hot chicken I've ever had. My wife and I ordered the hot damn tenders with lemon pepper yesterday. It was so gooood we had to come back today for more. For reference, we did try hattie bs and attempted to try Reds hot chicken, however Reds ran out of chicken and did not return due to poor customer service. Please do not leave Nashville without trying Lillys Hot chicken. 5 stars well deserved.

Yelp
Hot chicken, it's good. I like mine with the bone in for better flavor. It takes a few extra minutes fried to order, but it's worth it. The leg quarter was huge: drumstick, thigh, and the oyster intact. Cooked well: crispy all around, hot all the way through so the tendon bits were all edible, but no dry tough spots. Perfect. Went for "Spicy" (level 3 of 5 at Lilly's). They've got "Hot Dam" and "Fear Da Reaper" above it, but I figured I wanted to taste the chicken. Definitely made a safe choice here. As someone who likes hot food, it was spicy with a hint of pain that dissipated in a minute or so. Definitely hot enough where you shouldn't touch anything sensitive for a while, but nothing in the realm of uncontrollable pain, where each bite after the first hurts and you end up doubled over, open-mouthed drooling on the floor to keep the burn from going into your body. I'd trust that one of the next levels should get you there.

Yelp
Food is delicious and the chicken has flavor outside of just being hot chicken. Whenever I work in the office I make it my business to stop at Lilly's hot chicken. The owners are very friendly always smiling and the customer service is great as well.

Yelp
I honestly don't know how there aren't more reviews of this spot - I am from here - born and raised - and I love my southern food. This is the best hot chicken in Nashville in my opinion.. AND a small family business which is great to support.

Yelp
I visited this place for the first time today. The chicken was good. The flavor was good, and I ordered the spicy version, which was hot enough for me. The french fries and the fried okra were good. I also really enjoyed their ranch dressing. The staff was also nice. I definitely can see myself returning for more and recommend it for good hot chicken.

Andrew B.

Yelp
Chicken was good... hot damn is very very hot. I was warned... tender chicken and great okra.
