Where the ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ Have Dined So Far This Season

"At the end of episode 10, Candiace and Robyn Dixon got together at the pink Old Town cafe to try and squash beef over hot tea with honey and a smoked salmon sandwich. The Vienna, Virginia-born dessert shop founded by Iraqi immigrants is best known for its lokma (deep fried dough balls)." - Vinciane Ngomsi, Tierney Plumb

Google
I stopped by Lilly’s Chocolate & Cafe in Old Town Alexandria to try the viral Dubai chocolate-covered strawberries and WOW. Absolutely worth the hype! The chocolate was rich, silky, and high-quality without being overly sweet. Each strawberry was perfectly fresh, juicy, and chilled to perfection. You can tell everything is crafted with care and intention. It honestly felt like I was biting into luxury. The staff was kind, the space was clean and cozy, and the service was quick. If you’re a chocolate lover or just looking for a sweet treat that lives up to its reputation this is the spot. I’ll definitely be back. A true hidden gem in Old Town!

Google
Just out walking and stumbled upon this charming little dessert spot. It cute and quaint.......apparently its popular amongst the locals. There was a short wait before I could place my order......I ordered the Ruby Lockma with some pistachio cream sauce drizzle and topped with chopped pistachios. It was tasty and I would order again. Customer service was just ok, but that was probably because of the high volume of customers. I do plan to stop in again.

Google
First timer here, and they met every expectation that I was hoping for. The strawberries were so fresh with the right amount of sweetness and the chocolate was nice and smooth and pistachio sauce and shavings brought everything together. Thanks Sabine for the invite! Go say hi to Hawal! And the Dubai Chocolate covered Strawberries!

Google
I had an excellent cup of fresh coffee at Lily 's Chocolate & Coffee on the corner of King Street and Washington Street in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. I enjoyed my break in my very busy day. Unfortunately their blueberry muffin 's were expensive and tasted Old and Dry. The great coffee made me very happy. All was well.

Stopped in for dessert on a Saturday evening. The service was quick though it was a bit disorganized on who was in a line vs who was waiting for their number to be called out. We split the Dubai chocolate covered strawberries and got white chocolate lockma for later. The Dubai chocolate covered strawberries were delicious! We opted for the dark chocolate instead of milk, and I only wish it had more pistachio cream. Given the $20 price tag I wouldn't get it again. The lockma was very rich and delicious, though I didn't realize it came with Oreos until we were already home (thought it was just white chocolate!). We found free street parking a block away, not as bad as expected on a beautiful Saturday evening. The location is great, in Old Town Alexandria. Very cute interior.

Google
We absolutely love Lily’s, the vibe, the service and the lokmas are all so amazing. The decor alone is worth coming for! It is definitely instagram worthy. The chocolate base they use is so thick and creamy, the flavor is also smooth The Strawberries with Dubai Chocolate is also really good, with huge chunks of strawberries and lots of chocolate and pistachio sauce. Definitely worth the visit, especially for hot chocolate during the colder months, when the lights are twinkling on King street.

Google
Sweet little café — perfect for special occasions and ‘treat yourself’ days. The Dubai chocolate with strawberries were divine. The sweetness of fruit and chocolate paired with a nutty knefah crunch made for a deliciously satisfying experience (tip: get it with dark chocolate). The sizing is generous and easily shareable. Worth every penny.

Google
The space is cutely decorated. There is a flower wall and everything is pink! Secondly, the lokma is to die for! Specifically the pistachio! I tried the white (Oreo), biscoff, & nutella as well. Nothing came close to comparing to the pistachio. Hawal and Mohammed were great! The service was quick and friendly.

Yelp
I believe this is the most quaint, aesthetically pleasing cafe I've EVER been to!! It's very clean, a small space yet a lots of seating available, and it's just so pretty to look at. I had a blackberry iced latte which was nothing short of amazing! I also tried Lokma for the first time which is a fried sweet dessert dough with a plethora of toppings. The chocolate that's adorned on the Lokma is Belgian! So it's rich, and very delicious. The staff was also very friendly and answered all my questions! 10/10 I highly recommend!

Yelp
Lily's was Tik Tok find, someone posted their Limited-Time Chocolate Strawberry Cup and couldn't resist. First expression, it's kinda tight in there! Went on a Saturday afternoon and of course was a bit busy. Too busy for mistakes, mixed with short staff. We were order #83 but order #84 received their order first. They made order #84 twice....just back to back mistakes that I was over it. Yes, we enjoyed the Chocolate Strawberry Cup and Fruit Lockma but rushed to eat it just to leave. Hopefully next experience is better.

Yelp
Ordered the pistachio latte. It barely had any pistachio taste, if any. Cute place but would not go for their coffee.

Yelp
first impression walking into this place I thought it was super pretty! They have a beautiful floral wall and I love pink so the decor caught my eye! Some of the seats are swings too which I thought was super cool. I was a little disappointed with my order though, I ordered an Iced Mocha and I must admit they use a good quality of coffee however the chocolate they used did not dissolve into my drink at all, instead it hardened completely and wouldn't blend in with the coffee and my drink was basically an iced coffee. My boyfriend also has the same experience. The staff was very friendly and attentive but the drink I had was really disappointing. Maybe I'll go back one day to try something different.

Yelp
Very inviting and warm atmosphere. It was packed when we visited but there was also a parade happening. First time ever having a Lockma or a Spanish Latte and I left feeling deprived of such great coffee and dessert So why the picture of the bathroom??? It was clean. Despite the line of people waiting in line and full dining area the bathroom was clean. You can tell a lot about an establishment when they take care of "hidden" areas like a bathroom. It is locked but they give the code to anyone who asked and it's gender neutral. Now I crave Spanish Lattes and sadly Starbucks doesn't do them nor anywhere else I've been to. Definitely place to visit in Olde Town Alex. Only downside is possibly not the place to grab a book for alone time. But great for coffee talk w a small group of friends.

Yelp
Built around a fried dough sweet creation, this place offers fresh chocolate fountains in which its creations are doused. Ordering mine with fruit got me a slice of strawberry and a slice of banana for each ball of fried dough, which was fine but didn't impress. My chai had an interesting syrup but also plenty of spice. The other baked goods on display didn't quite entice me. I'd hoped for indulgent delicacy, and was a bit underwhelmed. Alexandria has never been foodie central.

Yelp
recently visited this Iraqi lockma dessert shop and was blown away by the flavors and hospitality! The moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm smiles and enticing aromas. The lockma was out of this world - perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, drizzled with just the right amount of syrup. The date and pistachio flavors were delicious! Highly recommend this hidden gem for a taste adventure! Also the decor is so cute - very Instagram worthy ;)

Yelp
What a perfect way to end our night! I tried the 5 piece biscoff lakvas and they were delicious! They were nice and warm and you could tell they were homemade with love. It made my night trying these!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in after a lash lift for a quick bite and drink. Got the honey cinnamon latte (so happy for all the different flavor combos and options!) and chocolate lockma. First time having the lockma, was a little too greasy for me, but really happy with the sweetness level (not too sweet even with all the chocolate!). Staff if so nice and inside is beautiful!

Yelp
What a cute cafe! The backdrop, the swings it's just everything. I tried the chai latte and it was delicious. Do not miss the donuts. I got a mix of pistachio and Nutella. I could eat 12 of them. The staff was so nice! I'd love to come again. Oh, and I tried a spinach and feta pastry and it was warm cheesy and delicious. You can get work done in here because it's quiet. There's construction nearby and I got away with street parking for free up the block. Love everything about lilys

Yelp
Great location in Old Town Alexandria and such a cozy little cafe for an afternoon treat. We were visiting the area and popped in for a cup of coffee/tea and some desserts. We had a mix of the original and nutella lockmas that come out warm and chewy and delicious. Such subtle sweetness but completely satisfying. One order probably adds up to the amount of one American donut, but feels way more satisfying for whatever reason. I had Lily's tea which seemed to be a fragrant black tea that tasted similar to the Sadaf tea - I wish I had asked if they use a particular tea and if they had it available to purchase because I probably would have. The interior is super cute, pink everything and very aesthetic for photos. Highly recommend a visit!

Yelp
This is CC Lane, author of the novel, "Kevin and KatheRINe in the Next Lifetime. I would like to thank Lily for hosting a book signing on July 20, at 1pm. Her Cafe is absolutely fabulous. It's the best in Old Town. I'm grateful to be there on July 20th.

Yelp
Lily's is an awesome addition to King Street! They offer many coffees, teas and drinks, along with sandwiches and cakes. Plus, their signature Lockma, an Israeli dessert much like a donut hole. This place is delicious and the owner and staff are very kind and helpful. Inside is lovely, definitely an "instagramable" spot with plenty of seating. We'll be back, definitely a fun spot to bring friends and out of town guests!
google avatar

Mary E.

Yelp
Stopped into Lily's for a latte during a little errand run in Old Town. Super quaint little shop with seating inside for about a dozen people. They have a huge selection of lattes and coffees. I had a peppermint latte with oat milk and it was delicious. Great espresso!
google avatar

Hemanth D.

Yelp
Enjoyed my mocha coffee and the cappuccino was great too! It's a really small place...we got the seating, which I'm not sure if you will every time you walk in here. Ambience is cute! We got some Lockma, which were good. Not too sweet which was perfect. But you can add some topping on them if you want make them sweet!
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
Ordered a cardamom latte and it tasted super bland, not sweet, and grainy. I actually threw out my $9 latte (before tip). I think maybe Turkish coffee isn't so sweet but I usually order my lattes half sweet most times so this is just a barely sweet latte at full strength.

Yelp
My family and I were passing through the DC metro and wanted to stop somewhere nice for snacks. We found this gem in the heart of downtown Alexandria and decided to stop by. When I stepped in, I was blown away by the stylish decor. Then, we placed our order. I ordered the seasonal peppermint hot chocolate, which was tasty and creamy. But the star of the show is unsurprisingly the lokma! They are sweet, fried dough balls of joy, with a surprisingly light and fluffy interior. We had the traditional and pistachio flavors, but I wish I could try every flavor! I would love to be able to find lokma elsewhere in the US (like NJ/NYC metro or the California Bay Area, not biased in my choices ;) Until then, I will almost definitely stop by again when I return to the area.

Yelp
WOAH that's some fun and unique coffee. The space is very fun with its pink walks and fun seating. We got the pistachio latte and it might be my new favorite. Really unique flavor with absolutely nothing artificial tasting about it. We tried both the hot and iced versions and both were great. Highly recommend this stop.
google avatar

Sabrina G.

Yelp
This is a cute place. Nice for pictures but it's small coffee/bakery shop. They can get pretty crowded too. The service was great and the restaurant was very clean. I got the pumpkin latte and I give it a 3.5/5 because I just needed a little more pumpkin. I would definitely go check them out again to try some of their bakery items and another drink.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Excellent hot chocolate and chocolate chip muffin! Ascetically pleasing but a little on the chilly side so if you plan on hanging out for a bit, bring a sweater.
google avatar

Paul J.

Yelp
We stumbled upon Lily's while strolling through Arlington and the smell of melted chocolate invited us in. What a nice little shop! The lockmas were worth it - we got chocolate covered lockmas with strawberries and bananas, and another order of pistachio lockmas. Sweet, nutty, perfectly paired with chocolate and fruit. Definitely a perfect dessert to satisfy your sweet tooth. Highly recommending Lily's if you're looking for a snack in Arlington. You won't be sorry!
google avatar

Brittney D.

Yelp
Lily's is cute. Very pink and IG worthy. My iced pistachio latte was delicious and strong and delicious. The Lockmas were a nice treat. Maybe a bit greasy but yum nonetheless. We tried pistachio, biscoff, strawberry and chocolate. I wish the ventilation was better, the grease smell was stifling and lingered on my clothes all night.
google avatar

Ashley G.

Yelp
I like it, but I can't quite stomach the prices. I bought a smoked salmon croissant sandwich and 5 piece lokma, and paid $23 with tip. Since this is more of a snack type place than a dinner place, I can't see myself returning very often, even though the lokmas were delicious!

Yelp
Lily's Chocolate and Coffee is a coffee and dessert shop owned by siblings, Saifalden and Lily. This is their 2nd location. The first shop was opened in Vienna, Va on July 10, 2021. This shop opened in the last week of May, 2023. My wife and I made 2 visits, and we tried 7 items. 1) Lily's tea had black tea with cardamom. The flavors were nicely balanced with no bitterness. A smooth and calming tea that was truly enjoyable! It came in a 10 oz cup. 2) Their Turkish coffee was smooth and strong flavored with no bitterness. It was full-bodied with notes of chocolate and nuts. There were plenty of grounds at the bottom of the cup. That's Turkish coffee done right! It was easy to drink and I was loving it! It came in a 10 oz cup. 3) The Honey Cinnamon latte comes in 2 sizes, medium and large. The medium was about 16 oz. It was sweet with a fair amount of cinnamon flavor. The coffee was mild tasting. It's very good if you're looking for a sweet latte with a bit of spice. 4) The Toffee Nut latte comes in 2 sizes, medium and large. We got a medium size. This was mildly sweet with a dark roasted nut flavor. The coffee flavor was stronger in this latte compared to the Honey Cinnamon latte. This is my type of latte! 5) Ruby Lockma is a lockma filled with vanilla cream and topped with ruby chocolate sauce and slices of strawberry. Lockma is a deep-fried ball of leavened dough. It was light, crispy, airy, and slightly sweet. The sauce was sweet and had the flavors of white chocolate and raspberry. It was a little too sweet for me, but the pieces that were only half covered with sauce tasted great. Lockmas are sold in boxes of 5, 8, or 18 pieces. FYI: Ruby chocolate is marketed as a fourth type of chocolate. The other 3 being milk, dark, and white. Belgium chocolate company, Barry Callebaut, developed and patented a process to make ruby chocolate in 2004. It was brought to market in 2017. The flavor is described as a sweet fresh berry taste with a hint of sour berry smoothness. 6) The Nutella Lockma was filled with chocolate cream and topped with nutella sauce and crushed hazelnuts. I'm nuts for nuts, so this was an obvious choice. The filling was good, but the toppings make this great. It was real Nutella, not a cheap copy cat. The roasted hazelnuts were a nice touch! A simple dessert with an excellent blend of flavors. 7) The Pistachio Ricotta cake had sponge cake, pistachio cream, and ricotta cream. It was decorated with crushed pistachios on the side and dusted with powdered sugar on top. The pistachio cream had a mild sweetness and pistachio flavor. The ricotta cream had a mild sweetness and milk flavor. All together, the cake was a superb light dessert. The service was polite, helpful, and quick. Orders are taken at the counter and they call out the name of the product when it's ready. Stay close by because someone could take your order if they ordered the same thing. The dining room and restrooms were very clean. They have a women's restroom and a men's restroom. No unisex restroom. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. There's an Instagram area at the back of the shop. There are 16 seats and 4 couches/benches. No outdoor seating. Parking was difficult to find in this part of Old Town. We found metered parking 3 blocks away. This shop is a family business that sells quality products at a fair price. I recommend a visit, and try the lockmas!

Yelp
Little cafe on a corner of a 4-way street. Driven by many times but finally had the chance to stop by this past week while strolling through Alexandria. The store is the cutest with a wall of flowers. Ordered a decadent hot chocolate, cappuccino and their a small order of lokmas. Man o man! I was impressed with the flavors of everything! The lokmas were freshly hot, crispy and soft on the inside. They had the perfect balance of pistachio topping with the sweet syrup. Their hot chocolate was one of the creamiest I've tasted with a nice balance of sweetness. The employees were exceptionally friendly and helpful with all my food questions. I'm definitely coming back to work on trying the rest of the menu.

Yelp
Coffee isn't bad. The pastries are very good. Service was not the best and it was a bit overpriced but the decor is very nice and it's worth the trip in at least once
google avatar

Yelp
A new Lily's location opened on the corner of King and N Washington with beautiful pink decor, rope benches and friendly staff. Place was very busy when we arrived but our order was ready quickly. The coffee pie was excellent, The hot pistachio latte is amazing, must try. We also order a avocado and turkey sandwich and a toasted almond cake. A great experience.

Yelp
First time trying Lockma's, dellisious. Very friendly staff. Cozy but somewhat funky atmosphere

Yelp
I hosted my weekly "Coffee Klutch" meet here this morning on behalf of my campaign for State Senate and the ladies of Old Town had a fabulous time! The decor is so pretty and the sweets are delicious! Thank you so much for hosting us! Please visit my website to see where we will be each week! www.sophia4va.com

Yelp
THIS WAS SO GOOD! If you have a sweet tooth, MUST TRY! Even if you don't have much of a sweet tooth, try at least one! I'm visiting from Cali & I'm thinking of making a trip back down to King St solely for this lockma. The gentlemen was so sweet and they were fast. The interior design of the shop is so cute, very aesthetic, perfect for pictures.
google avatar

Tina L.

Yelp
Lily's Chocolate and Coffee, you've officially become my happy place! The friendly service is like a warm hug, and let's talk about that Pistachio Ricotta cake--utter divine perfection! Chocolate Almond cake? Mind-blowing goodness! And don't get me started on the carrot cake--it's a slice of pure joy! Excitedly plotting my return for a Lokma adventure and some serious coffee vibes!
google avatar

Jasmine M.

Yelp
Such a cute small quaint place! Lokma was sooooo good! My cinnamon honey iced latte was great! However, when I walked in...a young lady greeted me...and then seems to pressure and bagger the another young lady to take my order and how to input the order on the register. If it's one thing I cannot stand it's when management belittles staff or other coworkers. Unfortunately, due to me seeing that I will not return and rather look for other places for lokma.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
It's cute with an Instagrammable wall. I got the traditional lockma. It was pretty tasty, but I don't think I would get it again. It was basically fried dough balls covered in syrup. It didn't even taste very sweet to me. Probably better to get it with chocolate or Nutella. 5 pieces are about $9.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
Fantastic. This is just what King St needed!! it's not just a bakery, but an Iraqi bakery! Who doesn't love fried dough with all kinds of delicious toppings. We had a pack of eight and it was perfect for the two of us. I loved the pistachio cream, but all of them are delicious!!! The service from Dustin and Safe was excellent and it's nice to see good service again!! Cannot wait to return and it's only been 10 minutes.
google avatar

Heather H.

Yelp
I had no idea what Lokma was--my partner and I entered thinking it was simply a chocolate shop. I had the employee pick five of their favorites and five of the Biscoff. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
What a delightful (and different!) addition to Old Town's coffee shops. Lily's not only had excellent coffee drinks, but they have lakma-delicious fried dough balls covered in your choice of sauces. We tried their dark chocolate lakma and were not disappointed. Picture warm donut holes swimming in chocolate ganache. So if you're craving a sweet treat to go along with your choice of a unique coffee drink, stop in at Lily's.

M D.

Yelp
This place is so cute and the service was wonderful. Such sweet staff! Helped us find something for everyone, even a picky 7-year-old. The chocolate covered strawberries in a cup were a real highlight.
google avatar

Yelp
Our coffees were great! We had the pistachio lokma. The service is very friendly and efficient. A great place for a midafternoon snack in Old Town!
google avatar

Nicky C.

Yelp
Kind staff, great coffees and lockmas which we had for the first time. Very cute and cozy interior as well!
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
Cute place and they have a good variety of coffee drinks, but not sure they know how to make a iced mocha properly. The coffee itself was good but the process of making a mocha was not. He poured thick chocolate sauce into the cup (from their dipped strawberry bar) and then the espresso and milk, it was not mixed at the bottom and the sauce was so thick it just chunked up in my drink and not properly mixed. Would have been great if it was made properly. it has potential but maybe i will try another drink another day. Their sandwiches and desserts look good.

R B.

Yelp
LOVE THE DESSERTS!! Delicious and unique flavors, to die for! They're like baby doughnuts with all different flavors. Their lattes and Turkish coffees got us through a long work session - amazing coffees!! Love this new gem of a place!! Will be back!!‍

Yelp
mind is blown! i love fried dough treats. i don't eat them often so when i do it has to be good! my first time here and i loved it! i got the 5 with milk chocolate on top. it also had chocolate inside! not a lot just a little :) it did not disappoint. i loved the all pink theme inside too. very friendly staff too.

Yelp
This place is a vibe! It's super cute and photo opp ready for Instagram if that is your thing. I came here for my afternoon coffee and I got a honey lavender latte that left much to be desired. It was quite basic to be honest. I was expecting a hint of lavender or something but it just gave basic iced coffee and for $7 it's not worth it in my opinion. I also got a 5 piece order of the Lockma which is essentially just fried dough ball that can be flavored to your liking with an assortment of toppings and chocolate. This I'm assuming is their specialty and what they are known for. I got the Biscoff milk chocolate lockmas and it's good not amazing just good. It did not taste at like the Biscoff cookie flavor I had in mind at all. I think it is an acquired taste. The chocolate was very smooth and had a hint of hazelnut flavor to me. They also had an assortment of other sweet treats. The service was nice and since they were not busy it was nice that the cashier explained the menu and what a lockma was because I had no clue. Overall I'd say this is would not be my go to spot for coffee but if I ever had a taste for Lockma I know where to go.

M P.

Yelp
After walking in to grab a quick chocolate milk for my 4-year-old before her dance class, I was met with a series of disappointments at this establishment. I requested chocolate milk but was given hot chocolate instead. When I tried to rectify the situation, the lady behind the counter seemed confused and uninterested in fixing the error promptly. Despite explaining that it was a scorching 90-degree day and cold chocolate milk was what I needed for my child, she poured a pre-made chocolate milk into a hot coffee to-go cup, which was far from ideal. When I asked for a clear cup instead, it felt like an unnecessary struggle to get a simple request fulfilled. The ordeal continued when I inquired about a bag for the sandwich I had ordered, only to be told they didn't have any. However, when the sandwich was ready, it miraculously appeared in a bag. The inconsistency was puzzling. After dropping my kid off and sitting down to enjoy my turkey sandwich, it promptly fell out of the container due to being overloaded with sauce, rendering it inedible and messy. Trying to salvage the meal was futile as the sauce ended up everywhere. Despite the initial charm of the place when we walked in, the overall cleanliness left much to be desired, with noticeable stains on the furniture that detracted from the ambiance. The entire experience was needlessly stressful and filled with unnecessary hiccups. I doubt I will be returning to this establishment in the future.

Yelp
Apparently the new location of Lily's opened today, and man are we glad they did. This place is utterly fantastic! The lockma are truly amazing, fresh, warm, soft, a little chewy, and not too sweet. The traditional (with pistachio and corn syrup) were absolutely wonderful, we'll be back to try them all!
google avatar

Yelp
The Lockma are fabulous. Excellent quality chocolate. Great flavor combinations. Outstanding service. Cute space. A definite recommend.

Yelp
This place is so cute and it's great to stop in for a quick snack or sweet! That was our first time eating Lokma and it was delicious! Cozy atmosphere.
google avatar

Aesha K.

Yelp
Cute cafe but the staff were unfriendly. Hate to write this but it took them a long time to take my ordered even though I had been standing at the register and the only one there. One person was in the phone and when she did take my order she kept getting it wrong, then they gave me a medium drink instead of the large I ordered and tried to tell me it was a large even though I could clearly see the large size cups
google avatar

Terria L.

Yelp
Cute quaint spot in Old Town. They put 2 of my favorite things together, rich decadent chocolate and coffee. Yum. It's a great meet-up spot with all types of chocolate coffee combinations. You deserve a treat every once in a while and Lily's is the place for it.

Ahkeel O.

Yelp
The lockma was great. Probably the best dessert I've had in a while. Chanel was also very accommodating!
