Where to Find Bright Bowls of Ceviche in Portland

"This Beaverton Peruvian restaurant is a neighborhood jewel, thanks to dishes like its beef heart anticuchos and arroz Chaufa. The ceviche mixto arrives under a nest of shaved onion, occasionally topped with a rocoto like a cherry on a sundae. It’s bright and citrus-heavy, with a good hit of ají amarillo, served alongside the customary sweet potato and Peruvian corn. Lima’s ceviche is best enjoyed while seated at one of the restaurant’s outdoor tables." - Maya MacEvoy, Nathan Williams

Where to Find Jaw-Dropping Peruvian Food in Portland and Beyond

"Lima, a casual restaurant in downtown Beaverton, is the real deal for Peruvian food on the westside. While many offerings around town stick close to the classics, Lima’s are fairly extensive, especially when it comes to seafood dishes like picante de camarones, shrimp stewed in spicy peanut sauce. Look out for weekend specials — diners who show up on Sundays can order seco de cabrito, a goat stew, as well as Peruvian breakfast items like sandwiches stuffed with chicharron, cau cau, a tripe-and-potato stew seasoned with mint, and banana-wrapped tamales, filled with chicken or pork." - Krista Garcia

So delicious and so nice staff! It was our first time to visit here and the lady who helped was was friendly and gave us great recommendation! Our most favorite dish was ceviche mixto! So fresh and yummmm Definitely wanna try more food here!

Google
My barber raved about this place, and I’ve been twice in one week now . The seafood is prepared very well, the best ceviche I’ve ever had. The beverage I enjoyed is made from purple corn, which I’d never had before; it’s delicious and very refreshing .

Delicious | Great Service | Great presentation $$ Wow, I'm so glad we stopped by here after our friend recommended this place. We came here on a weekday about an hour after they opened. The interior is clean, and that mural in the back caught my eye! It's a beautiful painting of Machu Pichu. Service was quick and very helpful. The lady gave us suggestions, the most popular dishes: Ceviche, lomo saltado, and aji de gallina. There were three different types of ceviche dishes, so we went with the shrimp (camaron). The lomo saltado is a robe eye steak dishes with fries and rice. The aji de gallina is a creamy chicken dishes with potato and rice. The presentation with the ceviche was so nice! The ceviche de camaron is a MUST! That powerful lemon sauce is so good and cuts through any fish taste, if you are not a fan of a seafood taste. I can see this appetizer frequently eaten during the summer, as it is very light and refreshing. Love the shrimp. It is served with huge corn kernels and corn nuts (?), and sweet potato. The sauce has a little bit of a kick to it if you eat some of the red pepper flakes. Whoa, I'm so glad I paired this dish with the aji de gallina because the creamy sauce helped put out the hot fire. I'm sensitive to any heat, unfortunately, like even pepper. The ceviche was absolutely excellent though. The aji de gallina was a very creamy chicken dish with a scoop of rice; it is a comforting dish. The lomo saltado rib eye dish is delicious too. I can see why many order this. It's tasty with the fries. The meat is good quality not like other places where you have lots of grisel or fat, and it has good flavor (not dry). We loved all three of these dishes and plan to get them again along with something new. Great Peruvian spot! The restroom is very clean. This place is a great find. There is ample parking in the lot. Nearby is a good tienda, La Nortena, if you are looking to pick up good tamales or Mexican bread treats.

Google
This was my first Peruvian restaurant experience, and it was fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was welcoming. We went there as a group of four, ordered one dish per person and shared. The portions were more than enough for all of us, and we loved being able to try variety of flavours. On top of that pricing was very reasonable. The only downside was the menu, it was a bit challenging to read. But each dish had the English descriptions to help. However this is not available in the web version. So I can not tell exactly what we ordered but each dish had seafood and they have 23 different seafood items in the menu.. So I can only attach the pictures. I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to share a delicious meal with friends! I will definitely be back for more!

Google
We started off with a bread basket (that bread was DELICIOUS) and some Inca Kola, which is a 10/10 for me. I get it every time I go here. The food came nice and speedy, and it was SO GOOD! FYI, the portions are pretty big, and the food is VERY filling. My favorite dish is the Tallarín Verde con Milanese de Res.

Google
I had a pisco sour and the lomo saltado. The rebeye was perfectly cooked, very delicious and tender. I live in the northwest but will gladly make the drive here any day for the delicious Peruvian food. 🙌🏼😊

Every trip I make in the Portland area, I always have to stop at this restaurant. The food and service are very good. The new setup is very warm. 100% Recommended.

Yelp
We ordered an appetizer and 2 main to share among 3 adults. The drinks were good. I had the purple corn drink, it was refreshing after a 4 hour hike. Fish ceviche...great presentation and ingredients but the acidity of the dressing was overpowering for 2 of us. Beef dish was delicious. My favorite was the seafood paella. Gorgeous and tasted very good. We devoured the 2 entrees. Service was slow but the food made it worthwhile.

Yelp
No pictures to add because I eat it too quickly. Love this location. Small and intimate but worth the potential wait. Lomo Saltado is what you hope it will be. Great Anticuchos and ceviche as well. They have Chicha and Inka Cola!

Yelp
Been looking for a good Peruvian restaurant and found it while I was out in Beaverton. Everything was great from the staff, ambiance, and food. The beans were delicious and hearty, the chicken was cooked perfectly and flavorful, and the plantains were delicious. This was perfect for something healthy, yet hearty. I will definitely be returning. Don't miss out on this great location.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Service here is superb and the food is amazing. The ceviche mixto is a requirement when I come here. I also enjoy their milanesa de pollo. Their accompanying green sauces are some of the best I've ever tried. They give you complimentary bread to start with as well. I like to dip the bread in the ceviche lime juices. The place is small, but quaint. This place is too good not to share.
google avatar

Yelp
Add extra spicy for my ceviche mixto!! I like the foods and always order my ceviche here at Lima

Yelp
It's easy to bypass this slightly run-down looking restaurant in a little shopping plaza. But trust, Lima Peruvian should not be missed...there's a reason families flock here for meals. It's delicious, authentic, and very filling! The prices are also reasonable especially since most of the dishes are meant to be shared. We ordered arroz con mariscos paella $19.25 and Lomo Saltado beef strips with veggies and fries $16.50. Those two dishes were enough for three women, and we just barely finished it. Some of the servers may not speak English, but everyone was super warm and friendly.

Yelp
Dinner w/our son @travis.masaki & his girlfriend Stephanie at the Lima Peruvian Restaurant in Beaverton, OR. First time eating food from Peru & it was great! The staff were very friendly & patient. They were willing to customize their dishes for us to be less oily & spicy. We had an awesome time with them. Parking - they have a shared parking lot with other businesses there.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food! This place was recommended to me from a friend so we were in the area and decided to give it a whirl. We love seafood and this place definitely knows how to serve it up in so many different ways. Looking forward to our next visit already to try a variety of other things. The Yuca frita was crunchy and soft inside just how its supposed to be! We ordered a variation with sauce as well and we all ended up dipping everything in that delicious sauce ( Yuca A la Huancaina. This sauce over the fried yuca was so tasty) If you are looking to try something new you can't go wrong with some spice & flavor in your life!

Yelp
I ate outside for lunch in their bench seats located by the front entrance. The waitress was helpful getting my dog a bowl of water. I ordered the Lomo Saltado. I'm Peruvian American and every Peruvian restaurant I visit I order the Lomo because if that isn't good then I pass on it. I must say that the Lomo Saltado was the best I have had in the US and I compare it to the best in Peru too. The steak was cook a perfect medium and juicy cooked with the right amount of soy sauce. The fries were fluffy and had a slight crunch. The onions were cooked nicely with a slight crunch. The rice was fluffy too. I order an alfajore and I swear that was straight from Peru too. This place rocks and is full on authentic! A must try!
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
The food and service were amazing. I love their Peruvian cerviche the best. Lots of seafood with creamy Peruvian beans and crunchy toasted corn. The seafood paella and lomo soltado were equally delicious. The waitress was very attentive and checked in on us multiple times. Definitely coming back here

Yelp
Excellent mom and pop Peruvian restaurant in a strip mall. Nice inside decor and plenty of outside patio seating (pup friendly) makes for a pleasant setting. The aji de Galina was spot on. Creamy with tender pieces of chicken. Daughter's chicha was perfect with just the right amount of spice and not too sweet. The service was quick and friendly. Dog water provided! We ended with the rice pudding that was extra special, like having half rice pudding and half fruit chicha! So darn good! And affordable too! We will be back!

Yelp
Blown away. Their food is so good, definitely my favorite Peruvian restaurant in Portland. The staff is super friendly as well which is always a plus. Can't wait to come back and try something different next time. I got the lomo saltado. Highly recommend it. A must try hidden gem!

Yelp
The calamari was amazing and the little green dipping sauce they provide was so tasty. The slices of onion on the side of the calamari were almost too salty to eat though. Everything else we had was great, very big portions. The restaurant was very small and cozy. And the service was very quick and efficient.

Yelp
Drinks: - N/A Food: - The Lomo Saltado is good, the steak is a little tough but the fries are very well done. I'd prefer the meat to be a little bit thicker and a little bit more rare, but the flavors are great. I really liked the onions and tomatoes with this dish. The sauce that the dish sits in is really good with the rice. Make sure to get a little piece of everything for a bite because all the ingredients go so well together - The Ceviche Mixto is a must get. It will be the most interesting ceviche you'll ever have. There's fish, there's squid, there's octopus, there's shrimp, and there's giant corn kernels (at least that's what I think it is). I really enjoyed the sweet potato that was served with this dish as well. There's a lot of textures going on with this dish and I love that about it. You get a nice crisp from the red onions on top, a solid bite from the giant corn kernels, a creaminess from the sweet potato, and a satisfying chewy texture from the seafood. You won't regret getting this if you're into seafood - The meat in the Seco de Cordero is so flakey and moist. It's fibrous and easy to eat. I really liked the pinto beans with the rice in this dish as well. I've noticed all the dishes we got were topped with pickled red onions, but I thought it paired the best with this dish. The way the food was arranged on the plate felt like I was getting a home cooked mean from my imaginary South American grandmother. Don't sleep on this special! Ambience: - The back wall is painted with the classic machu picchu style inca citadel that's fun to look at - The place is cozy and small in a charming way - There's also outside seating offered on benches in front of the establishment Overall: The service here is top notch. I went with a friend and the staff checked in on us very often. You can tell they care about the food and your dining experience. Every dish we had was unique and memorable in its own way. I felt at home here and though the menu was a little daunting to look through, the person taking out order was very helpful in guiding us on what to get (their recommendations did no disappoint). I look forward to returning and trying more dishes from here

Yelp
Amazing!!!! If you love flavor and seafood this is it! Excellent prices for quality food. Service was friendly and I can't believe this place isn't packed because it should be. Quaint and inviting space to eat. Will be visiting again and again and again. Super delicious!

Matthew M.

Yelp
Horrible service, They are extremely rude. I ordered 2 lomo saltado for me and my girlfriend and I've been here multiple times. This time the food turned out cold and she requested no onion and they gave her onions. So we tried to speak with a manager or a waiter. after 5 minutes she came and she wasn't listening to us seemed really bothered and said she would help us next time we come in. I call in today and she is being extremely rude saying she can't help and making fun of me because we felt uncomfortable that a guy was staring at my girlfriend and had to leave since I couldn't make a scene. I would not come back here the food is not that great for what your paying it's okay. but the service is insanely horrible

Yelp
Small spot hidden inside a strip mall and easily missed!! But definitely a must try if ur looking for quality good Peruvian food!!! Must try the Loma Saltado and Ceviche is fiiiiire!!! Tender deliciousness but they were out of my FAV Inka Cola

Yelp
Hands down one of the best meals I've had in Portland in awhile. Completely blew away by how delicious and homey the dishes here were. Super unassuming from the outside but they have better Peruvian food than some of the ones that I've had from "fancier" restaurants. The staffs were very friendly. You'll here a lot of Spanish spoken by people at the restaurant, if that speaks to the legitimacy of the place. Every item was enticing, and they have quite a few items on their menu. Some were more familiar than others so it's definitely a great place to frequent if you want to explore more of Peruvian cuisine. Their Marisco Ceviche was fresh and refreshing. You can feel how tender and bounchy their seafood is. Loved the toppings of different corn kernels and sweet potatoes. The Lamb Stew Special on Saturday was fall-off-the-bone tender. The cassava added to the richness of the stew, as well as the white beans. Everything with rice in one bite was soo flavorful and comforting. The Pollo a La Brasa may have been the best chicken dish I've ever tasted. It's charcoal grilled chicken on steriod. Super crispy skin, juicy meat. Came with freshly fried fries, delicious sauces, and salad. A complete meal. What not to like? Portion and prices of the dishes were great. I really felt euphoric after eating here and I'm not very easy to be blown away. I'm already ready to come back!!

Yelp
Peruvian eats at a local spot, I've been hearing about it but haven't tried until now. The tables are packed and the space is a lot smaller than the building size but the flavors will surprise you. This is a top notch seafood place. The assortment of soups, paella all had fresh crab, scallops, octopus, fish and delightful seasonings. A little saffron and sautéed red pepper binds the recipe. House bread seems ordinary but it's pretty tasty and. comes with two house sauces that are like a cilantro chutney great for a dip a little spicy but not bland. There's a bit of a wait and the service can be slow but give the small business a break. There was one waitress running around. If you get hangry then have a snack beforehand to calm down but be prepared for a whiplash of flavor. Also tried the seafood stew that was very good

Landon D.

Yelp
The prices were very high for the quality of food. Menu is very confusing and difficult to understand. The shrimp ceviche was $20.00 and extremely small portion. The rib eye steak advertised on the menu was actually cheap quality skirt steak so basically they are lying on the menu. My son ordered the fried rice which was also mediocre for $22.00. After I paid my $100.00 bill I left very disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely stunning! Found this place while visiting from Seattle. The food was perfectly seasoned and just beautifully presented. The service was stellar and the place was beautifully decorated and big enough for groups. We got the bistek a lo pobre and it was so good. The steak was perfectly done and rice, plantains, fried and eggs were so delicious with it. We also got the 1/2 rotisserie chicken and this was just perfectly done and seasoned. Will be going back before i leave to get a whole one to take home. And our last plate was pescado frito which was a delicious fried red snapper! I would recommend this place!

Yelp
Visiting for the weekend and found this spot, it did not disappoint! Food was delicious, big portions, friendly service. It is a no frills, come as you are type of atmosphere. If I am in the area I will definitely come back again!

Yelp
This is a very good Peruvian restaurant. I think we have very few in Portland metro. We ate the first time. Food is very good and authentic . Service was fast. Absolutely fantastic restaurant and our server was super nice as well. She made sure our pollos a la brass came out right when we finished our ceviche, so it was fresh and hot! The anticuchos was also amazing! I was blown away because I never expected such good Peruvian food in Portland/Beaverton? Area? Highly recommend!

Yelp
One of the best Peruvian restaurants I've been to!! Love this place! Felt like I was back in Peru! Every dish is extremely delicious!

Yelp
The food was amazing! The parking lot is pretty big so you won't have any issues there. The service was great and the food came out fast. Portions were pretty big and the flavor was on point.

Yelp
So good!! Can't remember what we ordered, I didn't order it.. but everything was amazing and so authentic. Lots of food and leftovers

Yelp
I am huge fan of Peruvian food but this place really missed the mark. I ordered ceviche pescado and arroz con mariscos with passion fruit juice. The only good thing was the juice. I wasn't sure if the ceviche was fresh but it just wasn't good. The seafood paella dish was lacking in seafood and tasted more like fried rice. It came with 2 different salsa, one was completely inedible. The service is fast and friendly. The ambiance is family style restaurant but the food itself just wasn't good at all. I am really shocked by surprised by the high ratings. Either people who previously left review here don't know what good Peruvian is suppose to taste like or they must be having an off day. I don't know but a friend of mine that lives in the neighborhood said that the place is never busy.

Yelp
Today Sunday 4/21 I visited Lima Restaurante and ordered food TO GO...and I can ONLY SAY ONE THING AGAIN AND AGAIN...the BEST AUTHENTIC DELICIOUS PERUVIAN FOOD in Portland OR period. I'm from Peru and know our Peruvian food very well, just didn't feel like cooking today but wanted my favorite food and Lima is the place to get it!! Ordered Ceviche de Pescado, my favorite Choritos a la Chalaca and of course Arroz Chaufa, I duplicated the order because I wanted to drop some off for my Son and his wife and kids. Shortly after I got home, my son text me and attached a pic of the containers and they were empty(this was the first time) for them to have Peruvian food and it is now their favorite as well as the kids. Wow!! So, if you like Peruvian food and are looking to get the VERY BEST then make a trip to Lima Restaurante you will NOT BE DISSAPOINTED. Forget about Andinas in Downtown Portland...that is NOT Peruvian food, have been there twice and have never returned, asides the fact that they are incredibly $$$$$$$ expensive, and you are not getting authentic Peruvian Food. And the Staff at Lima Super friendly and helpful!! Gracias Amigas!!

foodfoodfood f.

Yelp
The prices can't be beat, the portions cannot be matched, the selections are ample and the flavors delicious. Go and you'll have leftovers for a week.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh my word. How have I driven by this place for so long and never stopped in??? I'm kicking myself for the years I've wasted by not eating this delicious freakin food. 3 of us came and we all ordered something different and we were all just completely in love with what we ordered. I can't wait to come back and order like everything else on the menu. Good god.
google avatar

Yolanda R.

Yelp
First time eating at Lima's and it won't be the last!! My husband ordered the paella with mariscos (seafood and rice), and I had the aguadito de mariscos (seafood stew/soup type dish) and it was very generous with the seafood: crab, scallops, fish, shrimp. My husband loved his dish, but he would've loved more mariscos (seafood) - I sampled the rice - very flavorful and perfectly cooked!! The service was satisfactory - they were very busy the evening we visited and we were patient with everyone that helped us. Our primary serve was new and only spoke Spanish - my husband and I speak Spanish so it was pleasant for us. The ambiance is not fancy and that wasn't important to us. We'll definitely be back to sample more menu items.

Trent I.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food. Highly recommend! My partner had the half chicken, which was amazing and worth the price. I had a steak dish with onions and tomatoes.
google avatar

Yelp
This place definitely got a pass of "I think I just ordered the wrong thing". I was torn between the chicken and spaghetti dishes. I asked which was better and she said fried (which was also $2 more). I've been to Argentina. I know what Milanese is. I don't know why I expected legit fried chicken. So for what it was it was really done well. Tender chicken. Pounded thin and uniformly. Definitely lacked seasoning but as I said before I should have known better. It was an indication that they put effort into the food. The pesto was kind of heavy. It filled my stomach and palate up pretty quick. Again not quite sure what I was expecting. I liked the potatoes. I think I should have eaten it sooner and I'll bet it's a much prettier plate dining in. One thing that annoyed me was that I didn't get a knife in my to go order. How do you eat Milanese and pesto without a knife. I'm being generous and saying it would make a great dine in spot even though my takeout was less than optimal.
google avatar

Mai L.

Yelp
We've been meaning to try this place since my coworker has been to Peru many times and I love Peruvian food! Our waitress had asked if we were familiar which was nice but we let her know we just needed a minute on the menu since there are sooo many choices. We started with an appetizer which was the boiled potato in the cheese sauce. It's got a kick to it and it's so good. We also were brought over a bread basket. The bread was warm and had a pesto sauce to dip that was also quite spiced but good. I got the pesto pasta with a grilled steak since I couldn't decide and my coworker got the Peruvian chicken fried rice. It was a LOT of food but we were satisfied. Everything was flavorful. We weren't really checked on during our dining experience and was left without water for a bit so that would be our only gripe. We may have waited longer than needed to pay and what not.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
If I failed to write my review of Lima, I should be shamed publicly. We have eaten there twice now and both times every item was amazing. The shrimp Ceviche has been our go to, and never disappoints. Maybe next time I will order a different one and see how it compares. Since eating there I have recommended it to dozens of people. I hope they drop in as the owner is very sweet and gives outstanding service.
google avatar

Casey K.

Yelp
Honestly, I don't know what to say, the food quality half and half, Services good, the finishing of the meal on the plate was poor, so am I will go again? I don't think so
google avatar

Yelp
Authentic Peruvian food. I was craving a taste of my family's cooking but they live too far. Googled this place and I'm so glad I did. So worth the hour drive. This will be my new birthday dinner request/anniversary request. Lol. The aji de gallina is my favorite comfort food. This was better than I've had before. My daughter enjoyed the Bisteak My husbands favorite is always Chaufa and Yuca.

Yelp
Arriving for lunch I had no idea what to have and the waitress was extremely helpful. Their lunch special was an excellent choice and I'm grateful for her help. The chicken soup was delightful, a sure cure for what ails you. The quarter roast chicken was delicious, the salad cool and refreshing, and the fries were crispy. A great value for $12.75!

Yelp
Fantastic. This place is sooooo good. We had Papa a la Huancaina. Tallarin verde con bistek frito and Tallarín a la huancaina. We also drank the chicha. Everything was perfect. I'm the daughter of Peruvian Immigrants and know Peruvian food. I had it in the best restaurants, prepared by world renowned chefs. I'm even related to one. So again, I know Peruvian food. The creaminess of the Huancaina sauce on both the papa and tallarín was smooth, creamy and delicious. The verde on the tallarin was equally delicious. The bistec frito was super flavorful. We didn't have room dessert because the portions were huge. Service was fast and friendly and the ambiance was good. 10/10 recommend.

Kim V.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place without knowing much about the cuisine. The portions were great, workers were super friendly, and the food was AMAZING. They also give out complimentary bread and sauce which was good as well. I highly recommend going here for their paella and the lomo saltado. Definitely will be back to try their other dishes. Check it out when u get the chance!!

Lucie R.

Yelp
This is a restaurant you want to visit. The waitstaff is standing by to assist. The food was excellent. My party had the steak dinner and the fish dinners. And it was perfect cooked. The drinks were fantastic. They have a beautiful wine list The atmosphere is a beautiful experience that includes a live performance that suits the ambiance.

Yelp
This is an okay Peruvian restaurant in Beaverton where there are not a lot of similar options. Food is decent, overpriced for size and flavor. More of a takeout place as well, there isn't much ambiance or anything to say about the area it is located. It wasn't bad by any means, but would I return? No. Not great seasoning or flavorful sauces. For similar price, better ambiance, and well seasoned food, I recommend Andina in NW Portland.

Yelp
The lamb and goat specials on the weekend are what's for dinner for me. The rest of the food was just as good but the goat was to die for. If your in the area you need to stop by.

Yelp
I truly love this place! I discovered it one day on my walk around the neighborhood. Since I know of this place, I have been visiting it or ordering take out several times, and the food always quite satisfying! The place is a bit hard to find/notice unless you know of it. There are a lot of parking spots and a small stip mall around it. You can tell the food is authentic since the people who go there are mostly locals. My favorite dish is Lomo Saltado! I ordered it almost every time when I visit them, and the dish comes out quite consistent. This dish mix steak, tomato, onion, and fries. The first time when I order I was a little skeptical about the fries but the server was telling me it is very good. I trusted her and since then I fall in love with this dish. If you are there please make sure you order it. I have also ordered their Arroz Con Mariscos dish before, it tastes a bit like paella without the saffron. The seafood is fresh and well cooked. I have also ordered Bisteck a la chorallana before. Sometimes I feel this dish is basically a replica of lomo saltado but without cutting the steak. But personally, I like the other one better, since its way more flavor. I always order a side of plantain to go with the salty flavor. If you have never been this place before, I would highly suggest you try it. The food are in good portions and you can go with families or friends and share different dishes. Next time when I go there, I will definitely try more of their seafood.

Yelp
Delicious food, quality ingredients, authentic options! I never thought I'd be on the search for Peruvian food while visiting Oregon, but it was near where we wanted to go, and it was an absolutely perfect choice. We had the fish ceviche, lomo saltado, and some chicken, and all were tasty and prepared so well. Our server was warm and friendly, and we enjoyed our visit! Would definitely eat here again!

Yelp
Unassuming restaurant, but great food, reasonably priced and friendly service. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
Lima is so good! We accidentally stumbled upon it a few years ago and have been coming here ever since. The menu is extensive and we always have such a hard time ordering because it all sounds so good. Plus their portions are huge and Im guaranteed to have leftovers for lunch the next day. Get the lomo saltado if you're not sure what to order! Always a safe bet!
