18 Best Indian Restaurants in Raleigh, Durham, Cary | Eater Carolinas

"Lime & Lemon has a few locations in the Triangle, all serving a menu that spans the breadth of India’s various cuisines. Mainstays like channa masala, saag paneer, and lamb vindaloo can be found alongside less common dishes like navratan korma (a mild curry full of nuts, vegetables, and dried fruit) and the signature mango-lime chicken. All three locations are located close to universities, making it a great go-to option for hungry students and locals." - Matt Lardie

My mom and I decided to finally try this restaurant for a dinner outing, after having so many great reviews. The menu includes many vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian options which worked out well for the both of us. The portions are enough for sharing. We had fried mushrooms medium spicy for an appetizer. The breading on the mushrooms was a little heavier than expected but very flavorful. For entrees, we had the Muttle paneer and mango lime chicken, both were chef recommendations. We chose rosemary naan as a side. Everything was very good, nice server, and we were seated a few minutes up on arrival. Parking is free if you scan the QR code within the restaurant.

Google
Really delicious Indian and the heart of Durham! We really like the mango lassi, the butter, chicken, and usually go for mild or medium. We also love getting the basmati rice and garlic naan. Sometimes we get it to go, and I would write that about a 3.5 to 4 just because the rice and non-are not fresh, but the chicken is still great! I also think that the Ambience could use a little work, but overall still five stars for me given the quality of food and the kindness of the service.

Google
All of my favorite Indian dishes in one place!! I decided to try Lime and Lemon for my self care Friday, and it did not disappoint. My waiter Anand was amazing and he was very thorough with offering recommendations and options. I ordered a spicy mushroom appetizer, the avocado and cheese dosa and goat Chittinad. They were all cooked to perfection. I’m used to the masala dosa, but this was an interesting twist that kind of reminded me of me of a quesadilla. They had paratha bread that is cooked to perfection. It was nice having the option of multiple regions of India in one place. Will definitely come back for another self-care day. Also, the food is fairly affordable. I was expecting to pay more for the amount of food I received.

We stopped in for the Sunday buffet and were instantly impressed. From the friendly greeting at the door to the amazing smell of the food, we knew we were in for a treat. We ordered a green appletini mocktail and were complementary brought two wonderfully crafted drinks. The buffet provided a diverse opportunity try all the amazing options. The food is delicious and has us eager to come back. Service was fast, friendly, and topnotch. The atmosphere was delightful and very family-friendly. We will definitely be back best time we are in town. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience.

Found this spot in Durham on 9th street near Duke’s East Campus. It was not very busy for a Sunday evening and we were seated quickly. The restaurant is large, bright and roomy. The air conditioning wasn’t working so the air inside the restaurant felt warm and heavy on food odor. But again, that was probably just because of the a/c situation. The service was good but not exceptional. No real complaints though. The menu had too many items on it, spanning the breadth of the country. We placed the drinks and food order and it all came out quickly. The food was piping hot and reasonably good. Serving sizes were huge. After dinner we got the Kulfi for desserts. Again it was well presented, and taste was ok. Overall a decent experience.

Google
Lime and Lemon is one of my favorite places for a nice dinner. The service is always great and your drinks are always full. The food is delicious and there are plenty of great dishes to choose from.

Google
Upscale restaurant with delicious Indian selections. Attentive, friendly service. The chicken korma and firecracker chicken were delicious and satisfied my craving. The purple viking drink was perfectly sweet and refreshing. Definitely recommend checking this place out😎

We thoroughly enjoyed our sisterhood lunch! We will be back!! Anand was the best!! 10/10 experience from the food to the hospitality! We love Lime & Lemon!

Yelp
Hubby and I had his birthday dinner there 5/2024. The food is awesome. Our waiter Kevin made a great suggestion based on our individual heat tolerances. We both got different lamb dishes and the lamb was so tender. I got a cosmopolitan and hubby got a martini. The drinks were good, but the olives in the martini had pits so beware of that. They even sang happy birthday and provided a complimentary ice cream dessert. The prices aren't bad given the portions and compared to competitors. It's one of our favorite date night places.

Yelp
Love the food, spice level and the ambiance! Must try for Indian food. I tried paneer chukka and madras chicken curry - both were pretty good. The chukka was in much quantity for 3 people and same with madras curry. And they have malabar parota, which is rare. The pull apart parotha is really well made and fresh

Yelp
This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Chapel Hill and Durham! The mocktail menu is fantastic- I love the Indian Mule! i got the baby corn appetizer, which was sweet and crunchy and delicious. Then I love getting the mango lime curry for my main. The ambiance is really cute- it was date night so we were happy to snag a cute and quiet booth. The service is always wonderful- from when we walk in the door to leave at the end of the evening. So good!

Yelp
Definition of high yield This place is so good. Not crowded at all for Sunday lunch. We tried their chicken tikka, shrimp biryani, and garlic naan. All were super tasty, generous meat portions, and their overall portion sizes are huge! Came with a huge tub of white rice too. Def took a bunch of leftovers home PSA: their "medium" is still pretty dang spicy so watch out

Yelp
Reserved table for 5 on a Saturday afternoon and the table was ready for us when we arrived. The service was exceptional. The restaurant itself is a small space with equal number of booths and tables, they also have outdoor seating. Food was overall very well made. Drinks 10/10 Tandoor sampler 9/10 good mix, could've been warmer Dal tadka 10/10 despite ordering non spicy Rogan josh 9/10 Chicken tikka masala 7/10 (i've had better) Naan 10/10

Yelp
Stopped by while working. It was nice to taste something different. Very authentic. Located inside hilton hotel. Lobby is beautiful and welcoming. They have a nice bar area. Ordered the knockout chicken with a side of rice for $20. Prices are affordable.

Yelp
Every time I go to Raleigh I have to eat here. It is the best. The goat appetizer is a must! Their Chicken Tikka Marsala is good as well!

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Portions at this place are huge! You could definitely split on entrée. Had the chicken lollipop (come with about 5 per order, a decent size) was very good. Also got the tikka masala hot, but wish it was more spicy. All the entrees come with a ton of rice, I'm sure you will have leftovers! Service: 3.5/5 Overall great service! We had a large group and a couple of our orders got mixed up, but understandable. The staff was very nice and got a big table ready to accommodate our group.

Yelp
I brought my granddaughter to celebrate her birthday. She is adventurous when it comes to food and wanted to try Indian. My husband was less excited about the prospect, more of a meat and potatoes guy. Our waiter Aliston was terrific! He guided my husband to a wonderful appetizer- Apollo fish. That changed his mind immediately. We also had wonderful cocktails and cocktails. Their dark Manhattan is terrific! Aliston helped us to find excellent choices for dinner and asked about the spice levels. We all enjoyed our food very much. I am glad to have leftovers! As it was her birthday, they also brought a lovely birthday treat in the form of ice cream, what could be better?!? We had a lovely evening, delicious food, inventive, terrific beverages, and a wonderful time. My husband took a menu to study, I am certain will be back very soon ! Thank you, lime and lemon !

Jesiah W.

Yelp
This place is absolutely delicious!! They have a wide variety of options for you to eat regardless of your health restrictions. Me and my dad (who are vegetarians) and my mom (who is gluten-free) had no struggle finding something for us to eat. The customer service is also great and our server, Kavin, was excellent and very kind. Overall would definitely recommend to anybody who wants to eat delicious Indian food!

Yelp
Came for dinner on a Saturday evening. It was very loud and crowded inside so my friends and I chose to sit outside. I love that they had outdoor seating options! I was surprised and a little overwhelmed by all the menu options, I wanted to try multiple dishes! The waiters and servers were all very friendly and attentive. The food came out very fast as well, less than 15 minutes after we ordered, which I was impressed by. I ordered the chicken jalfareze. I asked for it to be made mild but it was still quite spicy. The sauce had good flavor though and they provided additional rice for no extra fee. My friends ordered the paneer tikki masala and butter chicken and both of those dishes were delicious as well. Overall, I had a great experiencing dining here and would love to come back and try some of their other dishes!

Yelp
A friend and I ate here for lunch for our June birthdays. The food was great, good portion size, and the service was outstanding! It's bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. I'll be back, and have recommended to friends!

Yelp
Ate at this place for the first time this evening and it was better than amazing. First off, the hospitality of the staff there was top tier. Our waiter, Kevin was so amazing. He made sure we had everything we needed and was so helpful at giving us recommendations from the menu. He was also very easy on the eyes ladies, with great hair and a great smile to match is genuine kindness. The decor was beautiful as well with the lemon colored booths and lime colored chairs. The food was out of this world. We ordered and shared veggie samosas, chili garlic mushrooms, shrimp 65, butter chicken, mango lime chicken, and the lamb and goat saag. Oh and I can't forget the garlic Naan bread . Everything was so flavorful and delicious. I will definitely be back. 10/10

Yelp
This place was amazing in all regards. The waiters were so kind and the food was delicious. Great place for a birthday dinner!

Yelp
We found our Indian Food spot! Everything was delicious-saag tofu, butter chicken, lamb vindaloo. The garlic naan was melt in your mouth good. The place was clean and fresh; the service pleasant and efficient.

Yelp
Excellent! We started with Indian Mules (a riff on a Moscow Mule) which were amazing. Heat with sweet that tasted incredible even on a cold night. And no tired lime wedge here here! A fresh, zesty lime slice and large burst of mint. Fresh and delicious! ...Which was true of everything else: samosas, chili paneer, a fish appetizer with a spicy sauce (Aloo 65?) and garlic naan. The heat was perfect on everything, the portions were exactly right. And if you're a garlic naan person, you'll be in heaven. Heaps of delicious and warm naan, soft as a pillow. Our server, Anand, was thoughtful and very, very good at his job: warmly attentive without being overbearing and knowledgeable about every single thing we asked. He was as delightful as the food! We'll be back soon. And you should go to!

Yelp
I liked this lime and lemon location! However, I'm not sure it's my favorite Indian restaurant in the area. First, the service was good! They are quick and nice. I actually like the layout better than the other lime and lemon locations, but it's probably a little smaller. As for the food, I was happy, but not super happy. I liked all the food, but I wish the naan was warmer or crispier. Portions were not great. I thought the portions were a little smaller than I am used to. Especially for the meat dishes, I didn't feel like there was actually much meat in them. If I order goat, I really want some goat chunks!!! The pakoras we got were also kind of small.

Yelp
On the pricer side but solid. I ordered one of their dosas this time and the dosa was great. The mango lassi is great as always. The service was good.

Yelp
Oh how I've missed Indian food in Florida. Not just Indian food, but GOOD Indian food. Really really good Indian food. Was in town touring Duke so came by for dinner and can't wait till we get to return it was that good. They bring out a few different sauces, which are fun to try. We are gluten-free and soy-free and there are options with chickpea based crispy "bread" that you can order. Lots of gf options for those on special diets and easy to navigate their various ingredients on their website. Thank you Lime & Lemon! We passed on the dosa since we ordered a few other items instead. First, their Tandori Chicken Tikka is AMAZING!!!!!!! It's a generous helping and comes with unlimited rice. Also ordered their Chicken Tikka Masala and it was quite good as well, but less meat with lots of sauce and again unlimited rice. Their drink menu was good and loved their mocktail options, including their fun presentation. Really can't believe how much food we got for the price. It was out least expensive meal while on the road and one of our best. A couple side notes....all the servers are men. I think the women must either be home or work in the back. Fine with us, but was unusual. The server we had was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. The restaurant ambiance was fresh and clean. Fun color vibe. The only wonky thing is a bug zapper on the floor just by the front door, which we could hear b/c we sat near the front window. However, glad they're doing what they can to keep bugs out, it was just a little surprising as not sure I've ever seen that. If you're in the area, take a break from all the fried, unhealthy food and give this place a try. The flavors are amazing and we would highly recommend to others.

Yelp
My cousin was visiting from Baltimore and staying nearby, and we were starving. We decided on Lime & Lemon because I'd never been there before, and she loves Indian food. There are parking lots on either end of the building, and there is street parking. We were seated right away on a slow Friday afternoon around noon. Even though it was gorgeous out, we sat inside at a lovely corner booth near the window. The vibe is absolutely cute and colorful. Kevin was our server, and he was great. Although very quiet, he was extremely helpful and gave us great suggestions and feedback when we asked. We each ordered something different so that we could share. My daughter ordered the Butter Chicken, I ordered the Lamb Tikka Masala, and my cousin ordered the Lamb Korma. We ordered Garlic Naan to share. Everything came out rather quickly and the presentation was the best. Everything was absolutely delicious. Every bite was better than the next. The Lamb and the chicken were both so tender, and the flavor of each dish was amazing. I absolutely loved my first time at Lime & Lemon, and have already told several people they have to check it out.

Yelp
Awesome food, superb service Adécuate prices and family friendly spot One of the few good options for lunch & dinner in this town
google avatar

Kitty C.

Yelp
Lime & Lemon has the most extensive menu of any Indian restaurant we've been to. Food is always excellent. Portions are huge. We have had a second meal to bring home every time we've gone. We keep saying we should just share one entree. But, we always want to try something else and just have great leftovers. The India inspired cocktails from their extensive bar are delightful, too. I love the the sangria. Service is gracious and friendly. We have never felt rushed or ignored. It gets loud later in the evening and reservations are a good idea, especially on the weekend. The televisions over the bar usually play Bollywood videos or soccer. I kind of hate giving them the review they deserve because I don't want to have a hard time getting a table.

Yelp
The BEST service & food! We had amazing anniversary meal here & can't wait to return next time we are in town.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good place! This is the first time I have had Indian food. I have a few intolerances so I was weary about trying something different. I explained to the waiter and he was very accommodating! The staff instructed me what I was going to have (jokingly). I trusted their advice and was blown away!! I should also mention the place is spotless! Atmosphere is very comforting and the top notch service made for a wonderful team dinner!
google avatar

Stephen G.

Yelp
The food was excellent! We got the mixed tandoori platter and vindaloo chicken (with high spice level). All was delicious, and our server (Edwin) graciously accommodated a swap out on the platter for us (subbing in a second chicken option for the lamb). Will definitely be back.

Yelp
When I tell you don't walk run to Lime & Lemons I tell no lies. We are not NC natives just traveling for vacation but this restaurant is on my top list for best Indian cuisine. We went for dinner and from the service, to the drinks, and food presentation to overall taste everything was excellent . We ordered bombay shrimp biryani, two berry cocktails (special recommended by waiter) , Indian sweet mule, shrimp tikka masala, garlic naan, vegetable samosa (no pic because we devoured them on sight) and received complimentary gulab juman. The food and drinks had so much flavor and a true taste of fresh fruit, herbs, and spices . The cute details added to the drinks and ambiance and decor of the restaurant was so nice . Aliston and Kavin were awesome , 5 star service !

Yelp
Great value for a large quantity of food! The delivery was prompt and the food was well packaged. Always reliable and delicious!

Yelp
Went here last night with friends - we were the first ones there and the place was sparkling clean but noticeably empty. By the time we left, every table was full! The food was delicious- hot and tasty and not overwhelmingly spicy. The service, by our waiter Edwin was excellent as well. In all, it was a great evening and a restaurant I would revisit any time I'm in town.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Staff was very friendly and on top of everything. We will def be back - one of our new favorite places to eat.

Yelp
I consider myself very picky when it comes to Indian food since I grew up eating it my whole life. I was very very happy with my experience at Lime and Lemon. It was definitely authentic and reminded me of the food back home. Honestly really enjoyed every dish we ordered (which was a lot) since my whole family came with me. Even my grandma liked the food and that's basically the top praise any Indian restaurant can get. Staff and service was timely and professional. Can't wait to come back!!

Ladd F.

Yelp
Good value, crazy good service, and really delicious food. Found this place by chance and tried 3 dishes but will definitely be going back. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming too. Photos don't do it justice bc we couldn't snap a photo before diving in. Chili paneer Veg kothu parota Gongura goat
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Food here is consistently delicious, with the South Indian recipes. But our favorite part has to be Praveen's creative cocktails! Every time we come in he has something different up his sleeve. But always based on fresh juices, fun, combinations, and a beautiful presentation. FUN and Never disappoints!
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
This was quite good. The veggie samosas had a distinctly flavorful filling. The pastry was flaky and delicious. The chutney was amazing and beautifully presented. The mint was both spicy and minty. I had goat biryani which was medium spicy. It struck me like a cous cous - small sushi-sized rice with mint and w side of lemon. The goat was tender. The garlic naan was buttery (more likely ghee) and garlicky, and the bread was soft and chewy. It was all good - and the accompanying lime ginger beer was the perfect accompaniment- fizzy with a lovely ginger flavor and a hint of lime. Clearly hime made.

Yelp
third time's the charm!! the first time i came here was a few years ago with a large party. we had made a reservation weeks in advance and checked in the same week to confirm our reservation. however, when we arrived, we were told there was no table for us and they couldn't seat us without a wait. then what is the point of the reservation??? i felt like seinfeld in that bit about the car rental. we ended up leaving and eating somewhere else that miraculously was able to seat such a large party without a reservation. the second time, it was during the height of the pandemic when lime & lemon had begun offering curbside pickup. i did not want to go inside the restaurant, so i chose this option, where the instructions told me to park in the lot nearby and call a special phone number and someone would bring my order out to me. when i got there at the appointed time, nobody picked up the phone despite my calling 4-5 times, and their voicemail wasn't set up. so i ended up just having to go inside anyway, which really defeats the point of curbside pickup. that time, our food was just ok. this time, i went to eat in the restaurant with only one other person. they were booked out, but still seated us without a reservation (so i guess reservations still don't really matter here, lol). we ordered the mango lime paneer and the eggplant pulusu. both were really delicious, with hefty portions that lasted me until the next day for leftovers. i preferred the paneer to the eggplant- it's the chef's special for a reason! it was creamy with a slight tang, and i really enjoyed it. if you go here, don't bother with a reservation, go with a small group, and order the mango lime!!

Jl S.

Yelp
Delicious food and drinks. We shared some samosas and the chicken saag. The staff is very attentive. Would definitely visit again when in town.

Yelp
Nothing wrong with a bit of lime and lemon! Stopped by and got some tikka masala ($17) and some veggie samosas ($10). Portions are sizable and food is on par with any other good Indian joint. Good spot!

Aya A.

Yelp
Love Lime & Lemon - our go-to spot in Durham! My husband and I have eaten here 3-4 times now and the food is always incredible! The servers are also wonderful and friendly. Kevin was our server tonight and he was so great! He made sure everything we ordered came out perfect, including the spice level (I'm not as experienced with spiciness as some). We would highly recommend this restaurant!
google avatar

Jasmine T.

Yelp
Tasty Indian food in a pretty casual setting! I ordered the salmon tiki masala and enjoyed it. The tandoor meats looked worth a try, so I will be back to order those. This feels like the type of place that Indian food lovers and novices alike can enjoy, so bring your friends and family who haven't tried Indian food here!
google avatar

April H.

Yelp
The food is always incredible! I get a different dish every time I go, and I love it. I'm a vegetarian, and it's so nice to be able to go to a place that has so many DELICIOUS vegetarian options. The flavors and spices are so good! My husband is a meat eater, and there are equally as many options for him. The signature cocktails are amazing. My favorite is the red hot margarita! We've been to the Raleigh, and the Durham locations, and both were a wonderful experience. The service is always stellar, and the staff are super helpful if you have questions about food. Highly recommend! We plan on continuing to frequent this place.

Yelp
Went here for dinner again after a long time. The restaurant was fairly empty since we went after 8pm. We starters we ordered Gobhi Pepper fry - it was a tad spicy obviously because of the pepper but it was a good change from the usual Gobhi Manchurian We always order. For main course we ordered Paneer Tikka masala with gravy to go with garlic and bullet naan and it was yum! Their lassi was as usual yummy too! Glad nothing went down from the first visit.
google avatar

Yelp
Really appreciated Edwin, server. Wonderful food. Beautiful space. Loved our lunch. Thank you!!!

Yelp
We got dinner here and learned that they get very busy on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays so they recommend making reservations ahead of time. At least the weather was good and there was plenty of outdoor seating. We ordered mango lassi and masala chai to drink and they were delicious. We ordered Gobi Manchurian as an appetizer, and while the flavor was good, wish the cauliflower was a little crunchier. We also ordered Mango Lime Chicken, which was very popular, the Thalapakkatu Goat Biryani, and the garlic naan. Everything tasted great and we even got a little crash course on what made this goat biryani different from the other biryanis, as far as regions and ingredients used. Towards the end, service was a little lacking, we had to track a staff member to pay and get boxes. It was nice to see a decent diversity of patrons, including other Indians. The food was good and will be back to try more but also keep in mind, the prices here may be a little steeper and fancier.

Yelp
Got takeout at lunch and I think I've found my favorite Indian restaurant in Durham. The combo (I got seafood which was only shrimp) is a great value - coming with a chicken appetizer, shrimp curry, biryani (that to my surprise came with a few pieces of shrimp), naan, and dessert! Also ordered the chicken mango lime signature dish, which is my new favorite. The sauce was thick, creamy, savory, sweet, perfect kick - coating big chunks of chicken breast. Everything was very flavorful and fresh. I am most impressed by the fact they do not skimp on the amount of protein they give you. There was a good amount of shrimp in the combo and A LOT of chicken in the mango dish. This restaurant gives more protein than any other Indian restaurant I've dined at in the triangle. Bonus, I also appreciate their use of eco friendly takeout packages. Pickup was ready before it's estimated time and the brief service interaction was friendly.

Yelp
First restaurant I tried in the Raleigh area. It started off great. Apps were on point especially the gobi manchurian. We spoke to the manager, Napoleon, that we chose his Indian restaurant out of the entire Raleigh area. He appreciated that, struck up a convo, and was quite friendly. The meal and apps had good flavor, but some of the chicken pieces in my dish were chewy, but I battled through and chose not to speak up (I wish I had). Service was okay. An order came out with chicken when my partner only ordered everything that was vegetarian for herself and the server seemed suspicious and dumb-founded. I was about to tell him she ordered all veg and I ordered all non-veg, but then he finally started walking back to the kitchen. No apology or anything. Same when the correct order was served. We also got charged for the chicken dish. It was only $1 difference so we let it slide The chewy chicken was a huge turn off honestly. Once you have one, the rest of meal you wonder if they'll be another and there were several in mine. The service could've brought it up to a 4 star review but the chicken was bad enough to make me try elsewhere in the future.

Yelp

Yelp
Lovely spot! Great food. Great ambiance! Great service! Traveling through town. We were from Tx....so we love all kinds of food. Def a great spot that i wish was in Texas! Our table had butter chicken, naan, boneless chicken biryani, okra and salmon. Alllll lovely dishes! Keep up the great work there! And have i said how cute the place it. The yellow and green theme! Love love. The booths, yellow thrones! Love love them too. Immaculate women's bathroom too

Yelp
Edwin served us and it was wonderful! He offered recommendations and steered us towards some delicious rupee beer and mango lime chicken. We also enjoyed the boneless chicken biryani and gobi pepper fry. All were amazing! We we back for future date nights

Yelp
This was our first visit to this restaurant and Durham location. Please be aware that you have to street park or find slot in one of the complexes around. Since it was a week night finding parking was easy. We were promptly seated in a comfortable booth! The restaurant ambience including bar is tastefully done. We ordered paneer tikka tandoori (not served on a sizzler), gobi manchurian, mango lime paneer, tandoori roti, and garlic naan! Everything tasted authentic and the flavors were on point. The mango paneer was not very creamy and definitely worth a try. Tandoori roti was one of the best I have had. The highlight was complimentary side of chutneys, reminded me of restaurants in India. Cucumber cooler was refreshing and light on sugar, something I look for in non alcoholic drinks. We tried orange delight for dessert. It is an off menu item but hugely popular based on reviews. We loved the experience of a balanced dessert, not overtly sweet, and with lovely citrus flavors. Special note for the management. During check out they found out that it was husband's birthday. They gave us a discount and told if they knew before they would have brought the complimentary dessert! We were pleased with the service, food, and ambience. Definitely recommend this place if you are a fan of Indian food.
