"Mama Thai, the latest restaurant from a family largely credited with bringing Thai food to the greater New Orleans area, opened two weeks ago at 200 Metairie-Hammond Highway. The menu includes starters like spring rolls and shrimp shu mai, moo dat diow (marinated pork jerky), traditional Thai soups, and an array of rice and noodle options like pad thai, pad see ew, and mee krob, a tamarind-sour crispy noodle dish. Mama Thai is open every day until 9 p.m., with plans to close on Sunday in the future, and does not yet have a liquor license." - Clair Lorell

We visited for dinner on a Thursday night, and the place was buzzing with energy. We were greeted promptly and made our way to the table. We ordered a bottle of wine—while the selection wasn’t extensive, it was definitely acceptable. Plus, they allow you to bring your own wine for a $15 corking fee, which we thought was very reasonable. All three of us absolutely loved our meals. My husband said it was the best pad Thai he’s ever had. My friend and I both chose the massaman curry—one with chicken and one with tofu. It was perfectly seasoned and served piping hot. I did want to mention that I had ordered the tofu massaman, intending to just swap out the chicken for tofu. However, when it arrived, there were quite a few extra vegetables in my curry. Our waitress, Naomi, immediately noticed I wasn’t happy with it and quickly communicated with her manager, Patrick. They insisted on having a fresh dish made, and the new one was absolutely delicious! Service was wonderful!!! The whole experience was fantastic—great food, wonderful management, and attentive service. It truly makes a difference, and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you!

I've been coming to this restaurant a lot over the past 3 months since being introduced to this yammy place. The food is amazing. My favorites are Red Curry together with chicken Pad Thai, mixing them together, complementing each other flavors. The Roti bread and vegetable spring rolls are always a great choice to start with. For desserts, we always get the Roti with Nutella and Mango Sticky rice. The service is personal and welcoming. Bathrooms are always clean. And the prices are very affordable.

I had the fresh veggies rolls in rice paper (no picture) with peanut sauce and Spicy Basil Stir Fry w/tofu, but requested mine mild. EXCELLENT!!! The portions were huge, as I had enough left for 2 more meals. The peanut sauce was thinner than I like, but the flavor was there. The restaurant is quaint with warm colors, super clean, in a great location, and have extremely friendly staff. Our server, Mallory, (I hope I have her name right) was the best as she gave me a recommendation that I was pleased with.

Google
I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at Lime Leaf! The Lime Leaf House Salad (with delicious and fresh ginger dressing) and the Veggie Lover (that came with a great Thai basil sauce, veggies, and loaded with fried tofu) has generous portions. Will definitely return!

I came in on a random weekday. I have driven by several times but never had a chance to stop in. I was promptly greeted and seated. I got the combo pad Thai and a Thai iced tea. All of it was just amazing. Super cute inside. Because of the location, be careful pulling in and out of the parking lot. I can't remember the name of the dessert, but it was delicious.

Google
Excellent! Excellent food, portions are BIG, flavors are there, and they are quick to prepare! Very friendly staff, clean eating area / bathrooms. Great value if you’re looking for Thai food!

Google
I got my usual Thai Stir Fry Cashew with Shrimp as my comparison dish whenever I try a Thai place for the first time. It did not disappoint! Very tasty and the portion was quite large for a lunch serving with reasonable pricing. The shrimp were large and plentiful. Service was also first rate. Out waiter (Patrick, I think) was very friendly. I will be back and will bring others with me.

Google
So glad we tried this gem of a restaurant. Everything was absolutely delicious. We started with wonton soup which was scrumptious. The Bangkok shrimp appetizer was amazing. The combination fried rice was excellent. The Thai trio entree was so flavorful. We enjoyed every bite. Portions are plentiful. Service was great too. Co-owner, Patrick was extremely attentive. We are definitely going back soon. Go try this restaurant!!

Yelp
We dined here on a Friday night. We were greeted by smiling faces and seated right away. We did not have a reservation, but the later it got, this place got really packed. Plus, the parking is a little cray cray out there too, so I would suggest getting here early or if they do make reservations do that if planning on coming here on a Friday or Saturday night. I have been working my way through the city eating at Thai restaurants and this one is one of top gems in our city. It used to be Mama Thai and unfortunately, I never got to taste her food. But I am here now and am loving Lime Leaf Thai! For apps, I tried my first Tom Yum, I heard they make a good one. Well considering it my first Tom Yum and have nothing to compare it to, I think it was fantastic! I am still thinking about that soupe, especially every time a cold front blow through. My hubby had the won ton soup, that was tasty, but not yum like Tom Yum. Next, I saw the specials and it all looks really good. Especially all the scallops. I ended up not doing any of the specials as difficult of a decision as that was and ordered the pad kee moa. I thoroughly loved the flavors and I made it a little spicier. The manager, Patrick, stopped by to check on us and I told him how torn I was with the specials and he said if I wanted scallops, I could have had them added to my pad kee mao. Very accommodating and very kind. I told him about my Thai Journey and how much fun it has been trying all these restaurants and that I found Thai Leaf to be of the best out here and he was proud to hear that. Keep doing what yall are doing! We will be back!

Yelp
This restaurant is always amazing. I haven't been able to visit in some time and had an opportunity to partake last night so I did a Togo order. I ordered my usual spicy basil beef stir-fry and the tuna tower. Both were delicious (I ordered the spicy basil med-hot and it was packing a punch last night) be careful what you ask for. lol. The Tuna tower was also delicious only complaint I had with the meal was the chips were over fried and greasy compared to normal for the tuna tower. Lastly and the reason I dropped 1 star is because they put the served cold tuna tower in the same bag, on top of the hot stir fry and under the hot rice container. Had I left it like that for my drive home it would have been a disgusting half heated mess. Thankfully before even walking out of the restaurant I opened the bag and took it out. Just wish they would think about packaging to ensure the best quality on arrival for Togo orders. Sorry I forgot to grab photos but my previous photos are still current as to amazing looks and flavor. I will continue to enjoy meals here and highly recommend.

Yelp
Great place to grab Thai food on a Saturday night with friends. Started with an order of spring rolls and roti. Love the red curry sauce that accompanies the roti. Perfect for dipping. Our table ordered a variety of soups and curries. Favorites included the Tom Ka Gai soup. Chicken and coconut milk broth with Thai herbs. So warm and comforting. The red curry can be ordered with tofu, chicken, beef, shrimp or a combo of chicken and shrimp. The red curry sauce, combined with coconut milk, bamboo shoots, carrots, bell peppers, and basil is so delicious. The Khao Soi was so rich. Is it a soup or is it a curry? The coconut curry broth soup is filled with so much flavor. The rich soup comes with sliced chicken, a chicken drumstick, crispy and soft egg noodles, fried onions, mustard greens, and Thai herbs. Love the crunch of the dried noodles mixed with the broth. So unique and so yummy. Add a Thai iced tea. So refreshing. The owner came to check on us multiple times. My friends know him, but they say he also checks on patrons that he doesn't know frequently. A really nice place to have dinner with family or friends.

Yelp
Ordered takeout for lunch, pad thai, crab rangoon, and hot and sour soup. Plusses, friendly staff and quick service. Minuses, food very bland, not spicy at all. I didn't specify spicy, but niether did they ask for spice level. Thai restaurants usually ask that. Thank goodness I asked for hot mustard for the rangoon. They didn't have that, but did have swett chili sauce that was a little spicy. The hot and sour soup was really not good. I tried to fix it with lijme juice, chili paste, and rice wine vinegar which made it some better. The crab rangoon was middlin'. The pad thai was okay after adding crushed red pepper flakes, but certainly not the best I ever had, again, just okay.

Yelp
Love this place!!! Have been here several times, everything I've tried has been delicious, and they always have the friendliest service. New Orleans has so many restaurants, but this is one that we always come back to!

Yelp
Lime Leaf Thai Eatery is a super cute establishment. One of the first things I noticed was that they were playing a WNBA game. I really appreciate it that they were supporting women's sports. After a while, they switched over to the soccer game which also is my second love so that was amazing too. The food was a delight. The owner was very attentive. He came over a couple of times to see how we were doing and even did some minute adjustments to the table to make sure that it was comfortable for everyone. The seafood was incredibly fresh. The tofu was really solid and on top of that, quantity of appetizers we ordered plus the quantity of dishes really highlights how quality the menu is because it didn't feel like we were repeating any proteins or any flavor families. Really high-quality Thai food. Definitely something to check out if you're in the Metairie area.

Yelp
I ate here for my first time recently, but I had to come back again for their spicy Chicken Pad Thai. It was so well balanced and flavorful! The wait didn't take long, and the food came out steaming hot and fresh. A very filling and satisfying meal. The staff is very nice, and I found myself not having to ask for anything. The restaurant is very clean and open feeling, with plenty of dining available. I will definitely be eating here again when I'm working in the area.

Yelp
Lime Leaf had really great Thai food! They have a lunch special menu which was really great and our server recommended to get the curry. I got red curry with chicken and it was really delicious. They also truly make spicy food and I normally can handle spicy food, but I got Thai Spicy and it was pretty spicy for me so I would recommend being careful of the spice levels. The service was great and food was pretty delicious!

Yelp
Delicious ..... Was craving pad Thai and Tim Ka Gai and wanted to try someplace new. So glad we tried Lime Leaf! Looking forward to our next visit!

Darlene B.

Yelp
Everything was amazing. The service is great. We were seated immediately and asked about beverages. When the drinks arrived we were told about the specials and then asked about appetizers. Within 10 minutes we got our appetizers and shortly thereafter they took our food order. Then again we only had to wait 10 minutes for our entrees. Everything was perfect. We highly enjoyed and recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
The Staff, especially the manager Patrick, are awesome! Creating great conversation and have that southern charm for sure! The resturant itself is tucked in an area surrounded by great restaurants, but this jewel stands out to me amongst them all! I only wish I could've got photos of the food, but it was so good it was gone before I thought about it! We ordered the spicy basil, green Curry, khao soi, spring rolls, and spicy honey chicken wings... so GOOOODDDD!! Everything was served piping hot and was delicious. If you're in the mood for Thai food, I would highly recommend checking this place out! The spice levels are ON POINT!

Mimi J.

Yelp
Service was wonderful. The food was hot and delicious. Vegan choices. Had the green curry with tofu. For appetizer had veggie fried spring rolls. Very good. The restaurant was very clean and enjoyed the booth seating. The only issue was the noise level. It was very loud. Want to go back and try veggie pad tai. Very accommodating to requests. Parking lot accessible as well as restaurant. Recommend.

J J.

Yelp
4.9/5. Service, friendliness, speed, taste, quality. Everything was amazing, but the Bangkok Shrimp was easily the best. These lovely folks don't skimp on anything. Fair prices too. The owner is so courteous and friendly. Don't miss this one!

Amari H.

Yelp
Honestly, where do I even begin! My family/friends and I came across Lime Leaf on accident when trying to find somewhere to eat as a big group. I love Thai food and when I saw they had a high rating, I was sold. Immediately upon arrival, Patrick was so accommodating and kind of our party of 12. They started pushing tables together, getting us water, and simply being attentive and kind. The restaurant is always clean when you walk in and the food smells so good. We started ordering what felt like everything off the menu. Every dish that hit the table was fresh, hot, and utterly delicious beyond words!! There isn't a thing I would change or not recommend. My favorite things on the menu are the coconut shrimp, the wontons, the fried ribs, the ginger chicken and the pepper steak, the Thai tea and the creme brûlée. This is my absolute favorite Thai spot and I tell people about it every chance I get.

Kathryn V.

Yelp
Best Pad Thai in Nola! I live out by the Lakefront and have seen this location change 20 times , different types of food over the past 30 years! I really hope this one sticks around!

Dana P.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on Saturday. This was our first time coming here under the new name/ownership. (previously Mama Thai) We split the Crab Rangoons, Pad Woon See with Chicken and Massaman Chicken Curry. Each dish was very good. The flavor and the quality of the produce and chicken were great. The quantity is plenty also. We had enough for leftovers for dinner. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I'm sure we will be back again.

Kristy T.

Yelp
I honestly think we came on the wrong day. It felt like the crew was overwhelmed with people in house and online orders. They did their best to make up for the soup being forgotten about then finally brought out after our main course came out with a discount. The dumplings were not tasty for me at all. The filling has the consistency of some kind of canned meat that is spreadable. I would revisit that filling. Usually dumplings have meat in them that is recognizable if I cut it in half and if not then at least when I eat it, not here. The dumplings are a hard pass for me. I usually get pad Thai but I went outside my comfort zone and got ginger stir fry, it was what it was supposed to be but was just okay. The Thai iced tea was delicious.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing Thai food ducked off in the Bucktown area of Metairie, LA! The space is casual and spacious w extremely friendly and fast service and the dishes were delicious w high quality ingredients and generous portions @ standard prices. 1 of the best Thai restaurants in the New Orleans Metropolitan area.

Fiona P.

Yelp
Love this place! This is our favorite Thai restaurant ... the food is consistently terrific and leftovers are 100% eaten the next day! Patrick is a superb manager! AAA+

Tina T.

Yelp
I ordered the Nam Tok (Waterfall) Pork, which was interestingly super similar to Vietnamese Bo Tai Chanh. It definitely reminded me of a homemade dish. The Beef Pad Thai had the base flavor, yet a bit different than other Pad Thais i'm use to (every region does it differently). It was still flavorful, and the noodles were cooked nicely. They also give you a huge portion, which is a nice plus! There were no spices added to these dishes as I was going to add sate to them at home, but i'm sure they'll add/give you some if you ask. The employees were also kind, and the place seems to be busy regularly.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Lime Leaf (formerly Mama Thai) is my go to spot when I have a Thai craving. The same family is there making the same awesome dishes. The food is always outstanding. The service is top notch. Patrick always takes such good care of me and whoever I am with. The bus boy was very attentive with refills and running food. You can tell it is a family business because there is a lot of care and love put into the food and friendly service. The restaurant is very clean and a genuinely great ambiance. Highly recommend!

Daniel L.

Yelp
Just had an excellent dinner at Lime Leaf. Pad thai and a seafood curry special with glass noodles on the side - wonderful! Started with the spicy fried shrimp. A winner! Patrick our server was amazing! Will be back soon.

Judith D.

Yelp
I tried out Lime Leaf Thai for the first time today based on a recommendation of a friend. OMG everything was absolutely fresh and delicious. We had the Pad Thai with shrimp, Green Curry with chicken, the Red Curry with shrimp, the crab rangoons and the Bang Bang shrimp. Patrick is super welcoming and personally made sure everything was made as ordered. This will be my new go to Thai restaurant Yum!

Taylor H.

Yelp
This has to be the best Thai food I've had in a very long time! The staff were very friendly and service was fast and efficient! The Shu Mai and crab Rangoon came with incredible dipping sauces! The spicy basil stir fry and drunken noodles were to die for! You can even ask for extra spicy if you dare! The flavor is out of this world! We will forsure be coming back! I highly recommend everyone to give Lime Leaf Eatery a try!

Amber C.

Yelp
THE BEST Thai I have ever eaten! From the spring rolls to the ginger salad and my Spicy Basil Chicken and my son's Beef Curry...everything was great. We even bought some of their ginger sauce to take home to put on our salads. Plus, the guy that runs it is super friendly and helpful. So glad I detoured here.

Emma W.

Yelp
Ordered the pad Thai. The presentation was nice but the taste was not as expected. It was spicy (which is fine) but other wise bland. Would not order again but would possibly try different items

Aaron S.

Yelp
Lime Leaf Thai is outstanding. Try the green curry with scallops and shrimp. The chef is extremely talented which you will know from your first bite. The staff is exceedingly friendly as well.

Allison D.

Yelp
I've always wanted to visit Mama Thai, and I'm happy to see that they reopened with the same family. I came here with my cousin for dinner, and everything we tried was delicious. The service was great, and everyone there was warm and welcoming. We ordered fried calamari, roti with red curry sauce, drunken noodles with shrimp, massaman curry with chicken, and mango sticky rice. The calamari and roti were perfectly flaky and flavorful. The drunken noodles packed a punch with some spice with a lot of flavor. The massaman curry was creamy and nutty wit a generous proportion of meat and veggies. The of the show was the mango sticky rice though. The mangoes were super sweet, and the sticky rice were smooth and creamy. Neither of us could stop eating it from the plate until we completely finished it. I love Thai food, and this place is definitely a winner for me!

Robert C B.

Yelp
This place has the best Thai food in the city. There is true passion in what they make. I know Thai food, I'm married to a Thai, and live in Thailand half the year. Lime Leaf is the best around.

Cindy H.

Yelp
Our first time here. We didn't take pics this time, but our food looked great and tasted great too. We also got appetizers. We went after the lunch rush, and service was very good. The place is comfortable and trendy. We will definitely be back soon! Apps: Crab Rangoon, Veggie Spring Rolls Lunch ordered: Red Curry (lunch special) with Shrimp (extra) GreenCurry (lunch special) w/ Shrimp (extra) Pad Thai (lunch special) w/ Shrimp (extra) Veggie Lover

Uncle Baby G.

Yelp
Had this for the first time last night for dinner. Y'all, the fried ribs were falling off the bone! For $10, I am planning on picking up a plate of ribs at least once a week. Everyone seemed to like their dish, but the dishes could use a bit more flavor. For a convenient spot on the eastbank, I will order from here in the future.

Rebecca O.

Yelp
Just got lucky with this one! Friday nights with no dinner plans, lead us here. Food was excellent! Pineapple rice was so flavorful. Great portion. Scallops were fresh & tender. Delicious. Very busy servers which is understandable. They were all nice. Spoke to regulars, while waiting for table. Always a great start when you hear from someone who knows the menu. It's a BYOB til they get liquor license. We will be back!

Josie P.

Yelp
Some of the best Thai food I have had in the New Orleans area. There abOur waiter Patrick was so attentive.

Roman M.

Yelp
Awesome food and great service. Who could ask for more than that. The location and setting were nice also

Tori P.

Yelp
I just had the pleasure of eating and Lime Leaf and it did not disappoint! The food was outstanding, the service was phenomenal, and they had such a great menu it was so hard to pick what to get. They are so kind, my husband and I did not realize we showed upright before close and we offered to leave or just get take out but they insisted we could stay and they gave us such wonderful service. I got the red curry, house salad, and tuna tower and it was all so excellent. Honestly I forgot to take pictures of all of it because I just dove right in as soon as it hit the table. I will absolutely be back! I can't wait to try some of their specials.

Robert B.

Yelp
My Wife and I tried Lime Leaf last night. Patrick welcomed us when we walked in and introduced himself. We had the coconut shrimp to start. They were perfectly fried and well seasoned. She had the shrimp pad thai. I had the scallops in green curry with shrimp. Both were fantastic, some of the best tasting green curry I've ever had. I've been trying to expand the tastes of my wife. It's places like Lime Leaf that makes it super easy. My only complaint is they weren't open today (Sunday) because I wanted to go back. Thank you Patrick and staff, for a wonderful evening!

Adrian B.

Yelp
Do not sleep on Lime Leaf! Best curry around and the waitstaff is very kind. Great vibes for dine in too!

Mac P.

Yelp
Great authentic Thai food! Friendly servers! I would definitely visit again! I also love the location by the lake.

Nik N.

Yelp
If I hated someone but wanted them to feel full of flavorless carbs, I'd bring them here. Not certain if these carrots are fresh or came out of a bag due to the shape, but leaning toward a bag due to the taste. Chicken is very lightly cooked , surrounded by egg particles and dry noodles with little taste. Not sure why people praise this restaurant, it's the Ramen noodles of Thai. Actually, Ramen has more flavor and is just as artificial.

Ella A.

Yelp
I've had takeout a few times from this restaurant. The staff are always extremely friendly, and my order is ready quickly. I've only had the shrimp pad Thai (plenty of shrimp and slightly spicy) and the vegetable spring rolls, but both are excellent. I will definitely be back.

Ann T.

Yelp
The exchange of hands in this restaurant is obvious. With a little more "Juj" this place could be a real destination. The food was fresh and well seasoned. Both my partner and I had Green Curry with different types of seafood. A great deal of information about the restaurant can be obtained by enjoying the quality of the dumplings . They were well seasoned and the dipping sauce was a good mix. Only hint, a little less dough and a little more meat. However, the Curry was delicious and the portions are nice. The service was excellent and engaging conversation with the entire staff. I'll definitely be back!

May W.

Yelp
Impressed with their service, portions and taste. Ordered the Khao soi, which was my first time having the dish. Rich and flavorful, I can see why it came highly recommended. Will definitely be coming back to have this delicious curry with two types of noodles. Clean bathroom, plenty of parking and really cute atmosphere. Perfect for a date or a quick lunch. Honestly think it's the best Thai food in the city so will be back!

Jose P.

Yelp
Awesome place. We had the garlic&honey wings as appetizer. It's was delicious. The skin was crispy and it was incredibly tasty. My wife had Tom ka soup- super creamy and silky with sweet coconut flavor. Our main meal: I had red curry with shrimp- so good and tasty. Huge plate. My wife had the pad Thai. Huge amount and she loved it. Dessert the sticky mango rice was perfect ending. The sweet rice and mango was excellent. We look forward to coming back.

Ashley E.

Yelp
We tried the roti appetizer and pad Thai and both were phenomenal!! The service and the portions can't be beat!! Excellent addition to the neighborhood and we will be back.

Claire I.

Yelp
My favorite little Thai place! The coconut soup is unmatched and one of the best I've had. All of the main dishes I've had have been absolutely delicious as well. The service is prompt and the staff is friendly. Cant say enough good about this little Bucktown gem!

Joseph B.

Yelp
Went for lunch. Got the Lunch Green Curry and the Lunch Drunken Noodles. Very good. Photos were taken after a couple bites sorry. Not pictured but we got the Roti Bread as well (this was my favorite item for sure). Entrees also came with salad. Service was great and food came out fast (they were not busy at the time).

Darryl G.

Yelp
We stopped by the Lime Leaf Thai after seeing some good reviews on NextDoor. And we were not disappointed. The food was amazing and service was good. We arrived a bit early and not many people were there, but that quickly changed. My wife ordered her favorite Thai dish, the Red Curry, and that got us a chance to compare this restaurant to others which Lime Leaf Thai Eatery became our new favorite. I got more adventurous and tried something I didn't know exactly what it was but the waiter explained after I ordered. Even his excitement made me realize it was going to be something great. The Nam Tok dish was served basically over a salad with a lime and herb sauce and was delicious! I didn't see any alcohol there at the moment. I am not sure if there are plans to add any in the future. I did see others BYOB. The place was neatly decorated and kept clean.

Jocelyn W.

Yelp
Good is great owner is extremely pleasant. The owner is really good and recommended certain dishes based upon what people are searching for. We will definitely be going back.
