Google
I was craving Caribbean/Jamaican food. First of all they charge $26 per plate. I had ordered 2 plates of oxtail, rice and cabbage, cabbage was so white!! I expected to be getting really good food for that price. The food was so oily, the oil was just floating under the rice as I pushed the rice to the side on my plate. The meat and rice were burnt and also so sweet with no flavor!!!!I have never had sweet oxtail. HIGHLY disappointing for the price I paid I could’ve gone to a proper restaurant for that price!!!!

Google
My 1st time here. The staff was cool and very nice. The dhal was really good. Doubles were tasty though spicy isn't spicy. There were a few things I tried to order that were out ok. This is my fault, I wanted veggie roti so bad I settled even though most ingredients were out. Wrong thing to do. I did not like it at all. I requested to have chickpeas and okra bc it was the only I would eat available. It lacked flavor and unless you are an okra lover, that was a hard no; don't do it. Chickpeas no real flavor and even the roti skin I was disappointed. I'm not here to discourage but it's not for me. I would go back for the dhal hands down. That was really good. To all my non-meat eaters.

Google
I had the doubles from this place today.. it's the worst doubles I've ever eaten..the bara is thick and dry, and the channa is white.. Anything with salt will taste good but come on, use some seasoning. Aloo pie nah ready yet.. I remember this place used to be good back in the day .what happened ? I'm never going back.

Google
The fresh drink selection is something unique and original. The food choices are what you'd expect and delicious, although really light on the spice and seasoning. Everything is pretty pricey for the portion size you get though. And there's multiple times now where I've been given the wrong food in my pickup order. With that being said though, I still recommend this place. The people are nice, the food and drinks are good.

Tiffany O.

Google
The food was pretty decent. I only say that because I hadn’t tried a lot of things there. My main issue I have with them is customer service. The attitude these girls give makes me not want to come back anymore. Every time I call to place my order or pick up the food there is always a lot of negativity, which I expect at this point. Looking around for better Caribbean spots. It’s not worth your money for the attitude they give.

Google
Okay, listen...Stop reading reviews and order! The food is SUPERB!!! I was a little weary ordering because some places are hit or miss. This was a HIT. Great flavor, great portion size, oh and did I mention GREAT FLAVOR!!! WOW. I got the curry goat with buss up on the side, I nearly fainted when I dipped it in the gravy to taste it. Then the GOAT....man it flatlined me. I will be ordering again on Monday. 20 out of 10 highly recommend!!!

Google
The other day I got, Limin’s Cafe Caribe, for dinner. I ordered the Oxtail Dinner w/ Rice & Peas, and Cabbage. The dinner was fairly middling to say the least. The Oxtails bordered on the fatty side, and was not very tender, while also having little flavor. The cabbage had a nice crunch to it, but very bland. Could’ve been cooked just a little longer. But the cabbage was very refreshing, almost salad like. The Rice & Peas were oily (prob due to the Oxtail Gravy), but it was really aromatic and had a nice texture to it. The people who take the orders are extremely nice and attentive, great customer service! The ambience of, Limin’s, is welcoming and has a home-y vibe to it. I love, Limin’s, have been going here for years. Their Stew Chicken is phenomenal! But for my first time trying their Oxtail Dinner, it was a fairly disappointing experience, especially given their other awesome menu items. Even with the Oxtails not living up to, Limin’s, regular expectations, I ranked them a little higher because the quality of the Oxtail was exceptional and their customer service is amazing. As you can see from the photos, they give nice big pieces, I just wish it had more flavor and was just a little more tender. All in all, Limin’s, is a great place to eat, and I will keep going back. Was just a little disappointed in the Oxtail Dinner. If anyone is in the, East Orange area, and looking for some good Caribbean food, def check out, Limin’s Cafe Caribe!

Google
Great home down cooking, generous portions and home made Sorel to drink. We tried the roti with curry goat and doubles with chickpeas, both were excellent

Yelp
From the moment you walk in, you are transported to the beautiful country of Trinidad where the delicious scents of a home cooked meal are balanced with the Caribbean music and ambience. We enjoyed several dishes including doubles, curry goat, Caribbean chicken wings, curry chicken, beef patties , plenty of fresh roti and a delicious refreshing drink made of hibiscus. Wow! Talk about an explosion of flavor! Every dish was delicious and prepared to order. The habenero sauce was fantastic on my doubles and didn't overpower the tender chickpeas and roti. We dined in and enjoyed every bite and had plenty to take home. The owner was the epitome of hospitality as he greeted our table, as were the lovely counter staff who were patient with me as I explored the vast menu. It was our first Trini food experience and it certainly will not be our last! Great food, great vibes and warm welcoming awaits you. So Don't miss out on this gem of a local business.

Kenneth R.

Yelp
The food was not flavorful at all. I had stew, chicken with rice and mac & cheese. Everything was piled into one container. The rice is overcooked and everything was just wet.
google avatar

Yelp
Suggest cooking your curry at home. This is suppose to be curry chicken & callaloo & roti w split peas. You asked, where's the callaloo, there's no callaloo! The lady who answered the phone quoted $15.00 however when you picked up it's was $21.00+ plus they wanted tip. Total rip off! Run

Charmaine M.

Yelp
I ordered food thru uber and left tip for courier. They called me when the courier went to pick up food to say they do have what I ordered so I had to cancel the order. However I was still charged $35+ because they said I cancelled. Uber called them 3x and they refused to answer. They r not to be trusted!!!!!!!!!! Never buy anything there again!!!!!!

Beckie S.

Yelp
Karen Mendez and Kavita are very professional, kind and friendly. You can feel there energy when you walk in the door. I highly recomend them for a promotion.

Yelp
A couple of months ago I was going to post this comment: Quality of food has gone down, so disappointed. I thought it was a one time thing. However, I brought food from them yesterday and the food was not good as well. So sad.

T H.

Yelp
Over it! Bland curry and jerk chicken wings were bloody on inside and not cooked thoroughly

Yelp
Want to "Lime" in Jersey (Hangout) then make it down to East Orange's star restaurant for West Indian cuisine. Tucked away off the NJ Transit stop within minutes to the front door Enter in. And you are "magically" transformed from the cold to the warm beaches of the Caribbean with tasty vittles to fill your belly! The vibe is chill; but what else would you expect from "Limins"? Tell 'em SLYfromNY sent you their way and be greeted with a knowing smile. You want good West Indian food in Jersey? #Faggetaboutit Hangout @ Limin's

Shami L.

Yelp
Limins has been disappointing me lately. The first issue was that there were flies in my smoothie. They corrected that. Today I had my husband pick up some bakes & smoked herring & I received this! This isn't smoke herring, this is tomato & onions and barely any smoked herring! Very disappointing. I just threw it out.
google avatar

Pinky N.

Yelp
My first taste of the famous trinidad doubles! So, so delicious! Really flavorful, and I particularly loved the toppings (tamarind, cucumber, onion, herbs). I was warned by my friend to not get the pepper sauce, which was the right move for me because they already have a nice kick of heat! Everyone there (staff and other customers) was so friendly, like neighbors - that kind of hospitality is so rare, and they genuinely cared that we enjoyed the food and ate plentifully! Will go back for more, and to try more items.
google avatar

Aria S.

Yelp
Corn soup was mid. It didn't taste bad, but it missed the mark for me. I've had way better which is why it's getting 3 star review.

Ana D.

Yelp
Would give it a 3.5 The service was good; they were courteous and helpful even after much difficulty trying to order via DoorDash and having to eventually place the order by phone close to their closing time. -Pholourie: okay. Not much flavor on it's own. Came with a tamarind dipping sauce which I would have preferred would be a little spicy/savory as well. Would pass. -doubles: decent flavor. Not the best I have head but better than others. -aloo pie: large and good flavor. -Goat roti: very good flavor but was a touch saltier than would have liked. Would def recommend. -boneless chicken roti: was more bland compared to the goat roti from a previous order. Guessing it's a batch thing and not that they make the curry tastier than the chicken so I will have to try this again. -Currant roll: mine was just a little crusted on the bottom but overall well-made and food flavor. -pone: a squishy dessert. Tastes slightly sweet and of allspice and nutmeg. Overall the food was very good. I will definitely be returning to explore their other menu items.

Yelp
I've been living in the area for most my life and have seen the ups and downs of this restaurant. First things first...EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. Second, the quality of the food is probably one of the worst I've ever experienced. You're better off going to Sarah's Trinbago cuisine for more authentic Trinidadian food. They have Mexicans in the kitchen here and it shows. If there is one bright side to this restaurant it's the juice bar attached which is ran by a Rasta fellow who is always great energy and he hands down has some of the best smoothies and juices I've tasted in my life. Only reason to ever go to this restaurant is in hopes of running into the juice bar which opens after 12:30.

Yelp
During my visit, I experience good customer service; a kind-helpful employee helps me navigate Vegan options (of which I discover the menu has a lot more Vegan options than apparent as of 4/4/2023--coming from a Caribbean culture, I realize Veggie is like another way of saying Vegan, maybe depending how hard the -ie at the end is, one might better differentiate if meaning Vegan or Vegetarian ). Upbeat Vibes! The Vegetable Roti is so filling and good. I literally eat a quarter of the meal at a time, each quarter very slowly: the ingredients taste very well together. The kicker of the meal is the Sorrel, a hibiscus drink full of flavor!!! I really enjoy the meal. My allergies literally stop acting up when I eat the meal: my sinuses calm a lot when partaking of any part of the meal (eating/drinking). The establishment requires a minimum $15 order for Debit/Credit Card use. The establishment takes different forms of payment.

Yelp
I tried the food from this place for the 1st time last night at a friend's house. I instantly fell in love with their 'Doubles,' which is a traditional Trinidadian dish containing onion, spices, & curried chick peas in a Roti style breading. The next day, after raving to my family about them, I came back & got some for us all. I really enjoy them & look forward to trying other things on their menu, especially Oxtail, which is a dish I have plenty of experience with & can rate based upon that experience.
google avatar

Marlon U.

Yelp
I had the curry goat Roti and let me tell you it really hit the spot the skin was soft and flavorful, and the Goat was tasty and falling off the bone , the server was very pleasant and she made me want to come back, my new go to spot in Jersey . Oh and don't sleep on the smoothie bar the green machine was on point
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
Was in the mood for something different today and had a tip to check this place out by some Trinidadian friends of mine. Boy! I did not regret it! Although there is no indoor dining at this time I was instantly welcomed to some festive lively music and decor the second I opened the door. It looks like a fun place to sit and enjoy a meal. When I looked at the menu I knew I had some serious decisions to make and it wasn't going to be easy because I can't fit everything in my stomach. So I started with Doubles and Aloo Pie. I got them both spicy. The doubles were delicious with a beautiful balance of sweet, savory and spicy. The curry channa, pepper sauce and tamarind sauce just blend wonderfully, giving me the feeling of instant happiness! The Aloo Pie was bigger than I expected! I've only seen small ones but this was double the size, and again, the flavors of the filling was outstanding! Deciding on a drink was difficult too! I wanted the Sorrell, Peanut Punch, Mauby, Ginger Beer and Seamoss but can't drink them all. So I got the peanut punch! It was creamy, thick, and great peanut flavor. The black cake was moist with strong fruit and rum taste. It's was so good but I was getting full and I couldn't finish. I actually ordered a bit more than I could eat. I haven't touched my Curry Chicken Roti or my Curried Mango yet. I'm so happy I came to this place. We had a lovely chat with the owner who was incredibly hospitable and the rest of the staff was friendly and patient with my indecisiveness. I will be back soon to try everything else that I couldn't get today!

Yelp
For my introduction into trini food I must say that it exceeded all expectations which is hard because I KNEW it was going to be perfection. It was a new combination of flavors but ones that I am already familiar with so when they all come together in the same dish it's immaculate and that's exactly how I felt about Limin's. The place is nice on the inside and very comfy and homey. Gives off that island vibe big time and they have a gentleman in there that makes fresh juices that I recommend everyone to try. Everything that I ordered was fresh, hot, flavorful and spicy . The doubles with heavy peppah was so hot it made you wonder why you're eating it but it's so good you kept going. The curry chicken with rice m peas was DIFFERENT. And I mean that in the best beautiful way. Every country that makes curry chicken makes it differently. The seasonings and spices that were in this rice and on that chicken were perfect. Along with the wonderful food the service was awesome and quick. I was recommended everything a First timer into trini food would like and I loved it. Great job and I absolutely love this place , will definitely be back.

Jamie T.

Yelp
The quality of this food is by far the worst Trinidadian style food in the area. In the past the food was good, but not anymore. The paratha (buss up) is so far from authentic it's disturbing. Whoever is running things needs to take a step back and reflect on what true Trinidadian food is like back home. Being in North Jersey we don't have much options besides driving into NY for Trini food so it would be nice to have good tasting and authentic food in our area.
google avatar

Sofia D.

Yelp
My first time trying Caribbean food- we went in hoping to dine in. However, they did not have to dine in yet ( due to the pandemic) We ordered spicy doubles. aloo pie, phulori, spicy cod with rice and chicken curry The food was exceptional- my favorite was the doubles and the aloo pie
google avatar

Chanel A.

Yelp
I did this order on Uber Eats. Initially, I wanted cabbage and a side of plantains. The restaurant called me not once (when I missed the call) but twice to inform me what they didn't have. The young lady was VERY nice and professional. She let me know what I could substitute and I thanked her for calling/following up. Shortly thereafter, my food arrived although it was not supposed to sjow up for another 30 minutes. Although I had to do some substitution, this meal DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Thr oxtails were fresh, the spinach was seasoned just right with the right bite, and the Rice w/peas wwas pillowy. On top of that the oxtail stew sauce, covered all of that and was sooooo delicious. This was my first time ordering and IT WILL NOT BE MY LAST! SO SO GOOD and the staff is great also.

Yelp
Fellow and famous Elite Vineet S. and his wife brought us here! Embarrassingly, I'd never had doubles or Trinidadian style roti before. oh em gee. I am so digging the tamarind kick to these dishes! We also had an amazing drink (I am not big on sweet drinks), but the tamarind juice blend they have mixed with spices WAS AMAZING!!!! My partner and I can definitely see ourselves coming back for some traditional and super authentic Caribbean flavors. This is totally worth the drive and the effort to support a small business in East Orange!
google avatar

Vineet S.

Yelp
What a great find, we love Caribbean food and wifey was craving roti and we stumbled upon this place while trying to find a new place. We picked up our food and got the aloo pies, doubles, and shrimp and vegetarian roti. The food was delicious, packed with flavors, authentic and they definitely don't skimp on portion sizes, we had leftover for the next day. It was worth driving 30 mins from downtown to pick up our food. This will become our go-to spot for Caribbean food, I'd highly recommend this spot.

Anthonia E.

Yelp
Bought food here and it tasted old and tasteless. It was not fresh at all, the plantain was not ripe. I don't usually do this but I was so disappointed. I won't be buying here again
google avatar

Diondra B.

Yelp
Decent trinidadian food. It's the best the area has to offer however its lack luster. The doubles are dry and the roti is very bland. If you are craving trini food an cant make it to NY or else where this can be a temporary solution but dont expect the best. Service however is good so that's a plus
google avatar

Yelp
Limins! 5/5!! Location: It is quite in the cut in East orange so definitely put your god on but man wrth the find! Ample parking! Hustle and go vibe so your in and out! Food: EXCELLENT! I thought they were Jamaican but they are actually Haitian and Trinidadian food and boy is it good! My go to is the curry chicken with rice and peas and empty roti on the side EXTRA SPICY! To tell you the truth..its hard to find SPICY curry chicken in the neighborhood and this gem packs alot of it! Their jerk chicken as well!! I crave it every week Service: they are very patient with you.. there are some things on the menu you may not understand if your not used to their language and they explain very well..Dont be shy to ask I definitely recommend this place if you have a taste for carribean #MarKnowz
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
My boyfriend is of Caribbean decent, and raved about the roti from this place so much so that I decided I had to experience it for myself. The exterior presents itself as an unassuming little place on a side street in East Orange (luckily, that also means you can park in the off-street lot right behind it). The interior of Limin's reminds me of an authentic family restaurant. The vibe is welcoming and relaxing. You can tell that a lot of their guests are local regulars as they come in and talk to the staff. Service wasn't anything special, but I didn't really care because - curry goat. That is all. Slow cooked, little cubes of flavorful meat that melt in your mouth, accompanied by what is known as a "chutney" with chickpeas. That was also ridiculously flavorful and honestly difficult to describe in words. Get your roti on the side (the dough that comes with most meals) and use it as a wrap for the meat or simply sop up all the delicious sauce with it. This is the kind of meal that will leave you feeling pleasantly full, and it's impossible not to clean your plate. I am due for another roti craving soon and would definitely visit Limin's again to satisfy it.

Yelp
I come here to this spot whenever we are in town. I love this spot. I love their food and their smoothies made to your order if you like.
google avatar

Denis R.

Yelp
Authentic Trinidadian cuisine with a juice bar and good Caribbean vibes. Love the rotis and the variety.

Yelp
Yesterday was my 2nd time at this establishment, as much as I hate to say it, I was disappointed; while the cabbage was nice and crunchy the way I like it, it lacked seasoning. As for the stew chicken & peas & rice again a great disappointment, they both were a bit dry & again totally lacking flavor. The bad part is, I drove a distance for some good Caribbean food, but failed yet again for the 2nd time in less than a week, so I guess the venture continues, I've got a recommendation of a spot close to home, hopefully it will meet or exceed my expectations.

B-joe A.

Yelp
DO NOT I repeat--DO NOOOOTTTTTTT EAT FROM HERE!!!! I ordered from this restaurant, buss up with curry goat with pumpkin. Total=$18.49. There is literally like 2 pieces of goat mostly bone. The food taste horrible. I called the restaurant to let them know and they didn't care. So, I will not ever be ordering from this restaurant anymore. 0 stars. This meal is not even worth $10. Save your money, I promise you'll be highly upset.

Tashanda S.

Yelp
Limin's food and quality all around has just gone completely down the drain! After being opened for so...... many years, you would have thought the determination, atmosphere, the food etc., would grow into something bigger and better as time goes on but instead it's become a total disappointment. The food is oh so dry, not flavorful, very small portions for the amount of money being paid overall awful. I mean I know food has taken an increase on many lives, but even before inflation hit it was still the same small amount of food for extreme prices. One good thing I will say though, the smoothies, shakes and drinks are the only A+ from me and my family. The front working staff, not all but some, are so rude, have horrible attitudes, talk mess about you, just treat you and their job like garbage. Instead of focusing on doing good work and treating the customers well.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
Owner is weird she was like laughing in peoples face... weird vibe. Food was good owner was weird. Idk if she was the owner but girl working there on 12/26/21. She laughed infront of me and then another person.

Devil K.

Yelp
First time eating there and my last. Waited 40 mins for food. Food wasn't that great. I ordered curry goat my meal didn't come with plantains so I ordered a side of plantains $3.50 for 4 pieces which is total BS. If I knew that I wouldn't of ordered it or anything for that matter. Safe to say Never again. I will stick with Sarrah's Cafe. Much better food and service. Also make bigger portions for that price.
google avatar

Ravi B.

Yelp
I went there for some good old trini food. Bake and shark was freshly made and had to wait 20 minutes for it ! WORTH IT. buss up shot and roti was gooood ! And alll the curry was nice. Very much customized for American taste buds. None the less, add some pepper sauce- you'll be good.
google avatar

Surin M.

Yelp
Went there to get veggie breakfast dishes but ended up getting doubles, aloo pies and polourie instead. The doubles and aloo pie was so so I expected better from a place that's been around this long. The channa was not soft and didn't taste like it had any chadonbeni, which is one of its main ingredients. It looked like a doubles but didn't taste like one. The polourie & tamarind sour were decent. We also got some juices there. Those on the other hand were very good. The staff is nice as well. No dine in allowed at this time.
google avatar

Gynger A.

Yelp
So it was my intention to never go here again because i am extremely stubborn when i feel like i am being slighted. However, i promised a friend that i would get then some trini food and after going to two other places i had to go here to honor my promise. As soon as i walked in the owner knew who i was and asked me why i would write such a bad review, i told her because i felt like i was being taken advantage of. She then said, you've been coming here for years and you could have called to talk to me about it....she's right and there is nothing else to say about that. They did change the prices and i jumped the gun. On to my review of the food... I've had quite a few things to eat from here, but my favorite has to be the boneless chicken roti...Its the way i make it at home. The Doubles are really good, and my sons inhales the philouri. As far as the food...its very flavorful and authentic Trinidadian food, the prices are a little bit high, the portions are decent, they never never run out of things early, and it always tastes the same, which is a sign of consistency. The place is always clean and while the wife seems a bit aloof, the husband is very personable. You wont be disappointed. I didn't get my free meal when i went, but the next time i go ill attempt to redeem that offer.

Jessica H.

Yelp
Always so good. We drive all the way from Secaucus for their food. Curry Shrimp is our fav!
google avatar

Sean C.

Yelp
I was expecting something different. My wife is Guyanese and cooks all the time so I guess comparing the two doesn't do justice. I'm use to robust flavors and good portions. I order the curry chicken and rice and they served us bones and rices. Very few pieces of meat which was disappointed. I shouldn't even compare home cooked food but you should expect good portions of food when dinning out. I just chalk it up to cooking for the masses vs cooking for taste. Quantity over Quality
google avatar

Ms. R.

Yelp
Love the doubles, Roti, Polourri, Coconut & Currant rolls and Peanut punch. The BEST Trinidadian restaurant in town!!

Mila C.

Yelp
We ordered food from here Everything was delicious and authentic. The curries , rotie, doubles. People taking order over the phone are really nice. The food was still hot when picked up and properly packaged. No spills A great authentic Caribbean experience

Esther P.

Yelp
This is not my first time eating here.. The food has always been tasty.. I haven't been in a while since COVID-19 so I noticed they have new workers.. Hi ordered the fries bake and shake, which was tasty. You have to put everything together but I guess that's because of the pandemic.. Good place to try..

Yelp
Super nice people. Food is amazing!! I enjoyed the jerk chicken with rice and peas. I also took home doubles and veggie roti. Best secret in East Orange. Thank you so much. I can't wait to come back. In addition to the great food, clean atmosphere, and helpful staff....they have also made Grubhub, Ubereats, and DoorDash available. Perfect for those of us who enjoy eating at home.
google avatar

Christina T.

Yelp
We're visiting from Chicago and tried chicken, beef patties, beef pies, curry goat and jerk chicken. Really liked the beef pie and curry chicken, especially since I can't handle the heat. Son, who can handle heat, said jerk was HOT. Love the warm coco bread. Rice and peas good too. Nice portions. Great service.

Danyale W.

Yelp
I was introduced to this place over 15 years ago and it was for shrimp roti ... fast forward to now and the boyfriend goes you gotta try this shrimp roti and it happens to be the same exact spot WoW .... clearly it's a hit but I've tried the oxtail which was just okay .... the jerk chicken was much butter , flavorful and really juicy YUM

Yelp
Alright, I'll admit it...we went back a few times after my last review, where I said I'd never go back. The food wasn't my gripe, it was the rude staff. My GF likes their salt fish so I had no choice, but to return. The herring is hit or miss. Patties and salt fish are consistent though, so we stick with that. Their scotch bonnet sauce burns so goooood! I always ask for that now. As for their service. There is a slightly older and much prettier lady (not older than me, older than the usual chick that's at the counter) that sometimes takes our order...she's a sweetie. The usual chick at counter, the one I was most irritated with in past visits, yeah, things are better...a little bit. I guess I can take them off my One Star Wonders List now.

Yelp
I'm a fan of this place. Its been a while since I've eaten here and it's nice to see they made some good changes. Limin's Cafe Caribe (formerly Caribbean Cuisine) is a nice eat in/take out restaurant. Food is delicious, authentic and reasonably priced. The staff is also very nice. The funny thing is I wanted to use their restroom and I had to walk behind the counter and through the kitchen to use it. I am happy to say that both the kitchen and bathroom are clean. I ordered a double and curry chicken roti. They were both good but I wish I ordered the double spicy. My sister had the veggie roti and she enjoyed hers as well. I love Caribbean food. I'm a bigger fan of Jamaican food but Trini food is a good change. I'm looking forward to coming back. This time I will dine in.

Yelp
I'm from Trinidad, and the food taste just like back home. The staff is always nice and courteous. This spot saves me the long trip to Brooklyn or Queens for authentic Trini food. Highly recommended!

Yelp
The workers are nice and I love the vibe. They have music playing which I enjoyed. It was my first time having a double and I was disappointed. The bread was soft and wet. Not sure if that's how it's suppose to be. I would like to try one at a different establishment to really compare. But the salmon and rice was good. I plan on going back to try the shrimp roti. I heard it's great
