Silver Spring Smokehouse Lincoln’s Bar-B-Que Has Closed - Eater DC

"Lincoln’s Bar-B-Que, the Southern-style smokehouse, shut down January 3, marking the second closure on the same spot in less than 18 months. The restaurant, a replacement for the Nuevo Latino restaurant A.G. Kitchen, struggled with mixed reviews from the public due to lackluster service but offered affordable lunch specials. It was noted for its made-for-Instagram 'crazy' shakes rather than its food." - Warren Rojas

It'll hit the spot if you're craving BBQ. The highlight is the brisket because it's juicy with the right amount of smoke and bark. You get 5 BBQ sauces on the table ready to smother your meat, and you can ask for a sixth that they keep in the fridge. To top off your meal, their milkshakes are straight up insane. They overfill it and whip cream is sliding down the glass when they serve it to you. The staff were all friendly, food got to the table quickly and the ambiance was classic Americana BBQ.

It was ok. The collard greens were my favorite thing next to the deep fried corn bread! The brisket was over cooked and the mac n cheese was a bit bland.

The bar staff is quite inattentive, good ale selection. Not really a good choice of lagers. Definitely looking for some improvements on speed and attentiveness at the bar. More tha in bar area, good for sports. Food came out quick and was typical American BBQ fare.

The strawberry bourbon milkshake was to die for; the best part of the meal! We visited within an hour or two of the restaurant closing. The food was good, but not all that warm. I expect BBQ to be fragrant and steamy, but I felt like I was eating food that came out from under a heat lamp. Also, we ordered cornbread as an appetizer, but then our waiter brought us more cornbread after the appetizer, as if it came with every meal.. I wish he would have said that we would already be getting cornbread so we could've tried some fried pickles or something! We loved the atmosphere, but our visit was mediocre.

The food is decent and the sauce selection is good. The wait staff could use some improvements. Took ten minutes for someone to greet me after being seated. I am baffled by the happy hour menu. It's only available at the bar and the sliders are actually a pretty interesting type of deconstructed bbq slider but you can only order them at the bar. Might want to think about extending your happy hour deals and menu to the patio if you want to bring people in. Probably won't go back unless the weather is lousy and I feel like sitting inside.

We were in the mood for true authentic BBQ (grew up in NC) and decided to give this place a try. When we arrived the restaurant was pretty empty for what should have been a lunch time rush. The waiter we had was wonderful. He was kind and attentive to the table. THE FOOD! True BBQ should be slow cooked, flavorful and smell amazing. It should also come hot and not barely warm. The meat had absolutely no taste. It took adding a decent amount of sauce to the brisket for it to even resemble taste. The cornbread was TERRIBLE. I don't know if it was just a bad batch but what I received was not even close to being passable for real cornbread. As others have said, avoid the mac & cheese. It has a fake cheese taste. It was almost as if the cheese had gone bad. The meat portions are also quite small. I had high hopes for this place but at the end of the day it's just another restaurant with bland food. Thought about giving it a second chance but after seeing so many other people saying that they too found it lacking flavor I think once was enough. Personally I would recommend finding another place for better BBQ. The prices high compared to other BBQ places in the area. The portions are small and the food is terrible.

I *so* want to like this place but they aren't making it easy. We went there a few months back and the barbecue was loaded with fat. The manager offered a coupon for a free appetizer. We weren't sure whether that would be enough but after a while we decided to give them another chance. The appetizer wasn't that good. That said, the service is good and it's not a bad place to stop for a drink after work. Then again, so is McGinty's just down the street and their food is stellar.

The sauce selection was beyond tasty! Georgia Mustard and the Sweet/Spicy Texas were my favorites. Old bay fries were a great salute to MD. Overall I thought it was quite tasty- I had some very moist brisket which was recommended by our server Kayla when she said, "brisket is life". The only reason why I'm not giving it 5 stars is bc I was still hungry after my tray! Guess I'll go back and try more :)
