My mom recently move out to the west side of t-town, and after leaving her new place I decided to take a new way back into Tulsa proper. Usually I go down to 244, and back in that way, since I work up by the airport. Well today decided to take 44, and I’m glad I did.
By fate, I missed my on ramp, and took the service road all the way until I hit the warehouse market and dead end, and as I was turning around at the quick trip, this tiny, bright yellow building, that looked like it was straight out of AMERICAN GRAFFITI, caught the corner of my eye. Then the neon hamburgers sign piqued my curiosity, then the name, that beautiful name,
LINDA-MAR. Evoking, some far off memory of a, Far away idyllic beach, I had once known…with reckless abandon, I darted across the street, maybe cutting off two other cars, I say maybe because I was so intently focused on the fact that they had a drive though, and needed to keep moving. I pulled up to the speaker, and my jaw dropped to the floorboard, with all the menu options, and as the lady asked what I wanted, I couldn’t help by say, WHERE AM I? And laughed a bit, and told me that they were celebrating their 64th year, and that the chicken could be made in many different ways. And also about the west sider burger. Which I will absolutely get the next time I go here, with my wife.
So I made a simple order, cheeseburger, order of chicken, fries and a drink. Easy peasy, pulled around to the window and met the coolest lady, she just had swag for days, Excatly the kind of person you would expect to be working at a old school burger joint, just a kind person, that you could tell, if she knew you, would give you a little sass, and joke around with you, like I could have expected her to call me toots, or some old fashioned nickname, like pal, or kiddo, whatever they would call you back in the day. As I was waiting for the food I was telling her how the jalapeño chicken will be right up my wife’s alley and I that I will order it then, and she came back with a big ass sample for me to try, just out of the blue, and also with the most beautiful fried chicken chunk on a toothpick, saying, here, you will love it. She wasn’t lying.
So, I get my food, say Thankyou and go find 44 east… now, I’ll start with the chicken. I do not know who came first, and I’m sure I could google it. But, at 64 years old, rex chicken had to copy this place, because when I opened the container, and saw the chicken, I almost swerved into the median. I WILL CLAIM IT NOW. These are the best chicken bites in Tulsa, period.
Not only are they the best in Tulsa, but i literally got 3 lbs of chicken for 7$. 🤯 I was in clucking heaven! So moving on to the burger, and fries.
I’ll wrap this up quick. I haven’t eaten at hanks, jumbos, Arnold’s, lot-a-burger, Ron’s, Ty’s. I’ve had webers, Claud’s, and all the smash burger spots.
For my money, this is the best burger in Tulsa.
It is THE example of what an “old fashion” burger is supposed to be.
I wanted to get the onion rings, but forgot to order them, but, the fries, were basically 5 guys fries, only crispier. I will, try the rings the next visit, because I will 100 percent be back. Regularly.
Thanks Linda-mar!
