Where to find classic restaurants and bars in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Javier Barajas learned to cook when his grandparents, Timoteo and Ninfa, sent him to study at the seminary in Michoacan. There, he learned to cook from the nuns. In 1990, he opened his first Mexican restaurant, named for the beautiful state in Mexico. Hand-made tortillas and carnitas are the specialties here, but Barajas recommends his steak and lobster dishes. Now three outposts of the restaurant dot the Las Vegas Valley. This location on Desert Inn closed after a sinkhole engulfed the dining room in November 2020, but reopened with a complete makeover." - Janna Karel

My wife ordered the Cry Today, Cry Tomorrow—a dish that’s even been featured on the Food Network. Let me tell you, the name is no joke—🔥 it was spicy! If you’re planning to try it, I’d highly recommend asking for the sauce on the side so you can dip instead of having it poured over the meat. The flavor of the steak got a bit lost with so much sauce, but once separated, it was excellent. I went with the ribeye steak topped with lobster and paired it with another sauce (the name escapes me). It was still spicy, though not nearly as fiery as my wife’s. Same advice here: sauce on the side makes for a better balance and lets you really enjoy the steak itself. On top of the food, the atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. The staff deserves a big shout-out—they were attentive, friendly, and quick to get us anything we needed. Overall: bold flavors, generous spice, and top-notch service.

Google
Scratch made flour & corn tortillas were excellent, as well as the tacos. Chips & salsa & bean dip were very good comp appetizer. Waiter was very friendly & helpful. Highly recommend. Cochinitas Revolcadas is the best Mexican food dish I have ever eaten. Can not recommend it any higher.

Google

Yelp
I just got to Vegas and I am so happy I encountered Lindo Michoacán. The food was great, but more importantly Selena was exceptional! She was very kind, attentive to our orders, and delivered amazing service! Thank you, Selena!!

Yelp
You walk in the casino, you want mexican food. The Lindo michoacan is the place to dine. The server's are exceptional and professional. You would think you're at a 5 star restaurant, the essence of a fine dining experience with casual dining prices. The food is "amazing " and when it's Sunday You must have a bloody Mary! One of the best I've had. So is the friend you take. An additional memory of my life time. 1899. The ambiance is peaceful and very lindo.

Yelp
What a disappointment. Food is sooooo bad here. What happened to this place? Did they sell to the Station Casino? Service is good but incompetent servers. Sorry. I used to love this place. Don't waste your money. It's expensive too just like everything else. Ambience: depressing...I should have known when I saw no one was here for lunch...

Yelp
Popped into this place just as they were about to close around 11 PM. The hostess was very sweet and said we could order to go. The restaurant is located inside the Palace Station Casino. They are known for great Mexican food and the reviews speak volumes. We ordered the fideo, the shrimp cocktail, and shredded beef taquitos with guacamole and sour cream. Unfortunately, we devoured our food so fast and I forgot to take pictures. The fideo was delicious and I highly recommend it. The shrimp cocktail was super fresh and tasted so yummy. I quickly finished it. And they have plenty of shrimp in the shrimp cocktail. The taquitos were also delicious and hot, I can't really describe the ambience of the restaurant, but it looks very authentically decorated. We had to take her to go order to the food court and eat it there since the restaurant was closing. I definitely plan on popping in next time to try other dishes. Enjoy!

Yelp
Lindo Michocan is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Las Vegas, and I was excited to see the local chain opened up a new location inside Palace Station. Let me tell you, Mexican food fans: skip this location. This is nothing like the others in town, and it's so disappointing. In fact, this Lindo served me one of the worst meals I think I have ever had! I should've known something was off when I went at prime time on a Saturday night and there was literally one other table of customers in the entire place. I came here to spend a $100 comp I had, and it was a struggle to find enough to buy. We opted for a couple of Happy Hour margaritas which were good, but very small. The drinks were the only highlight of a very mediocre, disappointing meal. Our go-tos at Lindo are the queso fundido with homemade flour tortillas. The queso we were served was lukewarm and not melty with that nice, chewy pull that queso usually has. The tortillas were disgusting. If they were homemade, they had been sitting for at least a day or two. The lard had congealed and they were absolutely gross and inedible. We asked for fresh ones, and they were just as awful. Our other go-to are the huevos rancheros and chicken fajitas. Both were terrible imitations of the other Lindo locations. My fajitas were so salty I couldn't eat them, and the huevos rancheros were overcooked. The sauce also tasted "off," so much so that my husband decided not to risk eating it! We figured there was no use complaining because it seemed like that's just the type of slop food the kitchen at this location churns out. The service was fine, but the atmosphere (and food) was lacking. The restaurant has a lot of booths, but they are crammed so close together that it's a very tight squeeze to fit into one. Be aware of this if you're on the larger side. This is one of the worst Mexican restaurants in town, period. I'm not sure what the heck is going on, but Lindo Michocan should not lend their name to this location. Go to any of the others in town for really tasty Mexican food. Avoid this Palace Station location at all costs. You WILL be disappointed.

Yelp
Our friends took us here and said the view from this restaurant, you can see the Vegas strip. It was stunning. My drink was super yummy. The chips, salsa and bean dip is complimentary as well as the fideo noodles. This place have good food. The beef fajitas was a bit salty for me. Everyone's food looked really good. The service was excellent and the waiter was on point. I would recommend this place. Next time im getting the chicken flautas.

Yelp
Juanita our server was wonderful. She made us feel comfortable and recommended items from the happy hour menu. The food was amazing. This will be my new go to for Mexican food in Las Vegas.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food and drinks. Nice place as the other locations. Only complaint is it is a bit more expensive than it should be. There are other good options all around town that are less expensive. Shout out to Selena behind the bar!

Yelp
Lindo Michoacan is a Mexican Restaurant and Bar with Four locations in the Las Vegas Area. The food from the Palace Station Location differs very much from the Centennial location so you can't compare them to each other. They started us off with the complimentary chips, salsa, and bean dip. The chips are strange here and have a HOT extract added to them. They burn your mouth when you eat them. The Salsa is the absolute WORST SALSA THAT I HAVE EVER TASTED IN MY LIFE. It seemed like tomato puree with an added hot chemical extract. This taste isn't natural. Also no cilantro or onions. It's so bad that I felt that it was a criminal act to serve such an awful thing and felt like calling the police for them serving it. Then I got the fideo soup that comes with most entrees. The dominate flavor was TABLE SALT. To me this wasn't edible. My husband can tolerate more salt...He said that it was salty. He ate it but when he got home he couldn't stop drinking water from the after effect of consuming all that salt. Both entrees could have been better. My husband had the Shrimp Chile Relleno. The shrimp could have been fresher and also are usually stuffed into the pepper. My Mexican Orange Chicken came with a lot of chicken but had little orange taste and was missing the jalapeño that was in the menu description.

Yelp
Happy hour review...not sure what all the shade thrown at this place is for on Yelp...I thought it was pretty decent for a casino restaurant. The beers were 4 dollars...domestic and imports! My favorite Mexican beer is Bohemia and they had it...I repeat..4 dollars!!! I ended up getting two. Hub and I wanted something super light so we ordered one order of chicken taquitos and they gave us a chips and salsa for no charge...it was definitely enough food. Salsa was a little on the bland side, I wish they would kick up the spice or at least offer a hotter version. The chips were good and so were the taquitos. I will be back for the beer alone for 4 dollars!!!

Yelp
Had low expectations due the low ratings. Happily surprised. Food is authentic and delicious. Very attentive service and good drinks. Will come back.

Yelp
Was in the mood for Mexican food. The restaurant was not busy. Casual vibe and they had a live musician. We ordered the old fashioned and the punk cocktail and I didn't remember the name The cocktails were too strong and didn't get finished. I ordered the chicken flautas and they were good but they could have provided more guacamole as i felt it wasn't enough for the meal. I ordered the flour tortillas to try but next time I will get them with corn tortillas so they won't get soggy as fast. The fajitas were good but the rice and beans came out cold but the waiter brought a second serving to make it right It's pretty authentic but next time I'll stick with a classic margarita. I also wish that they would honor earning points for dining there.

Yelp
My mom and I went here today for lunch. Perfect time at noon, on a Friday. No waiting. We sat in a very comfortable booth. Good size dining room. Very nice bar area. We both ordered the special that is advertised in a post card like holder on the table. $9.95, 1 cheese enchilada and 1 beef taco (carne asada), comes with rice and beans. It doesn't come with the soup and moist tortilla. Chips, salsa and warm bean dip served after you're seated. Very nice and friendly staff. Nice portions. You can tell the chips are made in house, as well as the taco shell. Both are very delicious, and chips are crispy and they give you plenty. The bean dip was very smooth and creamy, as well as the refried beans, and the rice was moist. The red sauce is very very good. The salsa was amazing and delicious. What a great experience we had. Our waitress kept our glasses full with cold water. Much needed on a very hot 3 digit day. The restaurant is very nice and clean inside. The bar area looks very inviting. The taco was really really great. Very full of carne asada and Cotija cheese. This place is very authentic, great service too. I'll be back to try other menu items.

Yelp
I'm back again. Ordered BOTANA 'PAPA CHENCHO' which was an appetizer sampler. My personal preference for the appetizers was: 1 - guacamole- 2- taquitos dorados, 3- sopitos, 4- jalepeñitos, 5- quesadillas, 6- Nachos

Edgar E.

Yelp
Food presence is nice. Looks good. But let's get down to the nitty gritty. I come to palace station 1x a week for work and this is the 4th time I eat here. If you looking for Mexican food I mean Mexican food this is not the place. Tried a few of their plates and all need more flavor. It's too Americanized. maybe the pochos will get fooled. Food needs more flavor more raw authentic flavor. Would not stope here again. Place is clean and bar is nice but thats probably all I will get here drinks but food I'll pass. Got Mole and the gave me slices of breast instead of chicken leg or thighs. Any ways I won't be be back rather eat panda or go locally..

Yelp
I didn't mean to land at here, but my first choice of the night, Tailgate Social, was super low vibe for a football night (very empty, sound was low, servers just sitting at tables chilling) so we ventured to find a different place. I didn't even know Lindo had a place at Palace and I'm familiar with the locations in the suburbs - so what the heck, there's a bar, there's a TV, there's people at least here, I'll give it a go. Walking up to the bar, we took a seat. The bar top was a bit dirty but the bartender never bothered to come and wipe it down, she just put menus on top of the dirty stuff. She then walked away to fulfill other drink orders. It was only her behind the bar so the bar patrons were a bit neglected. Finally, she does come back around and asks if we want chips and salsa (complimentary). We said yes. She goes to get it in the back and returns with chips, salsa, and bean dip. Now, I like about 95% of the salsas I've ever had, but, I'm not sure what it is about Lindo's salsa, but it tasted like medicine. It was a really odd taste. The bean dip was pretty crusty as well. So to me, it was 0 for 2 on the dips. We decided to split Chicken Fajitas. It came with Fideo soup which I normally love, but this one came out barely luke warm so that was a bummer. The one plus is that the fajita portion size is BIG. Overall flavor is okay, it was food, it was edible. Both service and food, it wasn't an experience that would bring me back again.

Seda K.

Yelp
The food was great! The waitress Denise was very helpful and super nice. We would definitely come back again!

Yelp
Came here because the restaurant is conveniently located across from the bingo hall at Palace Station . The food is terrible and not authentic at all ! The only pros were the fideo soup and salsa & chips. Both were flavorful. . But the meals were lukewarm and tasted like they were leftovers from the night before Nothing was fresh. Nothing was cooked well enough. . Everything was bland , including the beans and rice. . I ordered chicken nachos, and the nachos came with the chicken used in the fajitas plates. It just doesn't work with nachos. The restaurant is nice and clean and the bar area looked like it would be a good spot for a drink, but I don't recommend the food. Service was friendly but the waiter didn't right down our order deciding to go off memory, which is fine if you get it right. I ordered nachos with no sour cream, and of course it came with sour cream.

Yelp
I got the Al pastor tortuga and my wife got the chicken flautas. Both were chewy and really under seasoned and disappointing. I would not recommend those 2 items. However, Service was great and the place looks cool.

Yelp
This is our regular spot to dine as we are residents but tonight was extra crowded.. we are so happy of the excellent service we received from the hostess Jamiel, she made sure we were next to be seated then unexpectedly explained why she would be seating a larger party first due to the sizes of the booths. We totally understood and almost immediately another table opened up and she took us to our seats! We were so impressed of her way to communicate to make sure we understood why she was seating the customers that came after us and to make us feel important and very much appreciated! Thank you Jamiel. Also wanted to say the overall service and food is EXCELLENT!!! Everyone works as a Team and hustles to make sure everything is filled! We appreciate you all... our regular place to dine for sure!!!! Also love the live entertainment too!!!

Yelp
We haven't had this excellent of service in a long time!! Everything was absolutely perfect! Juanita was out server.

Yelp
My husband and I had a light dinner at the bar a couple of nights ago. This place was excellent. We did not go for happy hour but lucked into it. Maybe the best deal I have had in Vegas. The best part of the experience was our server/bartender, Selena. Outstanding in every way. Treated us with exceptional service. Chips, bean dip and salsa were complimentary and the salsa was a bit smoky and delicious. Wish they sold bottles of it. We also had shrimp ceviche and table side guacamole, both really good. Best Mexican food I've had in Vegas. The only awkward part was near the end of our visit, a male manager came into the bar and seemed to dress down Selena and another female bartender. Not appropriate. He seemed to have a rude demeanor in general. In reading reviews seems like staff get great reviews, not so much the management. We will be back for the great food and service.
google avatar

Yelp
Came to the new location over palace station. It brought back so many memories when i used to visit the other location over desert inn. Service was great and food was okay. I had the steak al cilantro had good flavor but tough and my wife had the oysters with ceviche and tasted a little old .

Yelp
With reservation in hand, Diane and I stopped in for dinner to try this new dining addition to Palace Station's offerings, and we had a very enjoyable meal. Complimentary Fideo Soup was very salty. But a generous amount of Guacamole made to order tableside was excellent with warm Tortilla Chips. And a complimentary Bean Dip was smooth and tasty. I found the Red Salsa to be too spicy for my liking, but a requested milder Green Salsa was just the spice level I prefer to adorn tacos. Speaking of tacos, the Shredded Beef Crunchy Taco I ordered ala carte was smaller than most but packed a great punch. I received added tomatoes on request, and was not charged extra for them. Neither were we charged extra for requested and quickly received additional Flour Tortillas to enfold Queso Fundido inside. The Queso Fundido with C horizo on the side was the best I have experienced to date, and Diane loved it as well. She also raved about her cheesy Shrimp Quesadilla. Service was responsive, accommodating, and proactive, including unbidden regular Iced Tea refills; and booth seating was comfortable. We will most surely return. XXXX-1/2 overall!

Yelp
I see why yall got 3 stars. You won't get that from me tho. This place was recommended by someone so my sister and I went this evening. I ordered #14 with chicken with cheese on top and inside the enchiladas and a hard shell shredded beef taco with shredded cheese. She ordered the flauntas meal with flour tortillas. Her meal was correct. What I got was two cheese enchiladas and a shredded beef taco with the white crumble cheese. The beef taco was good even tho I added my own shredded cheese. The cheese in the enchiladas was NOT even melted and barely melted on top. Now, they did charge me correctly because there was no chicken enchilada order on the receipt. However, I expressed to BOTH staff at least twice who were taking the order that I wanted CHICKEN enchiladas with cheese inside and on top. Safe to say I probably won't come back. I have no problem paying extra for chicken. Just give me what I ordered...and make sure the cheese is melted on the enchiladas. Get the order correct. There's many more spots that I can try AND recommend. Pictures to follow to show exactly what they look like. I tried to call them, however there's no number posted to call. So it appears yall only want to know how the food and service is from yelp.

Yelp
Always good food and service. Selena is very welcoming, personable and creates a great atmosphere

Monica S.

Yelp
My new favorite Mexican food restaurant. Not only was everything amazing, from the young Becky drink, to the table side guacamole, to the camarones abuelito timo and the burritos, to the EXCELLENT service by Israel. We can't wait return!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Unapologetically a Palace Station fan. Know the staff at tables (Becky, Marianne, Shoji). Love love LOVE the bar staff when I'm playing video poker (Gerson, Charlie, Chad--great folks every one of them). Even the amazing front desk folks (Lia's a gem!) we love and remember. Michoacán wasn't memorable. And I've been to the original restaurant probably 10 times in 20+ years. Here? The young lady (Catherine? Katherine?) watching over the bar - not the bartender, he was good but showed up 45 minutes into our meal - had zero personality. Obviously didn't care we were there. Gave the rote, boring "how can I help you" attitude start to finish. And mixed a brutally bad Cadillac margarita. Sorry we're having fun and all in our 40s. No reason to be bitter, dear. Wish I'd have got the bartender's name. He was obviously a pro. Just only served us for 10 minutes of a 90 minute dinner. Compared to the young lady who didn't have suggestions, seems bored, seemed genuinely irritated we asked for more salsa with our chips. I'll try again. If I see the man working there. But overall: just middle of the road.

Yelp
Terrible food in their cafe old food just sitting then reheated the next day I got very sick the night and next morning from eating there. Do not go here to eat pure slop better food at Taco Bell

Yelp
Stayed at Palace Station for a week and ate/had drinks here more than anywhere! The food and drinks were great and the service was exceptional! Miguel did a great job running the show and Selena was a phenomenal bartender! Best drinks and service!

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner at the Lindo mccoican in Palace Station. Alex our server did a fantastic job and Jose the busser was very attentive and took great care of us. I would recommend this establishment to all my family and friends. The food was great the service was wonderful and we had wonderful music that accompanied our dinner.

Felicia S.

Yelp
The food here is truly authentic Mexican. Delicious! Great ambience and decor. The staff is friendly and fast. Selena our bartender was amazing . Will definitely come back worth every penny
