We Compared Classic Frozen Foods With Their Updated, Fancier Versions | Eater

"A long-standing frozen dumpling option with well-seasoned chicken filling and a not-too-thick skin that adapts well to steaming and other prep methods; nostalgic and dependable, especially for longtime shoppers from big-box stores." - Kat Thompson

I ordered a large sweet and sour chicken but ended up getting a combo which is fine but then after a few bites of the sweet and sour chicken I see a bug in my sauce. I called and told them and they weren’t willing to give me new chicken and sauce and the lady on the phone was rude. Zoom into the second pic for the small bug. I won’t be coming here again

I went in and placed an order from the menu. The price was $12.95. They tried to charge me almost $15.00 for the dish. When I asked why, he said they have new menus coming and the price is higher. In the USA there is a thing called FALSE ADVERTISING. Which means they must charge the price they have advertised on the menu or otherwise. Just because they have new menus COMING, does not mean they can charge the new prices using the old menu. I understand that some may say it's only a couple of bucks difference, but for people who are on a very tight budget, that could make or break their budget. The man who took my order was extremely rude shouting at me so, NO I did not get the order and left, and NO I will not go back there. I will travel to Hornell where I know they are friendly and give large portions for the price they advertise.

I am staying in the Hammondsport area overnight. I went to Bath New York for Ling Ling Chinese restaurant. Not someplace I would sit and dine in. I took the food back to my hotel. I ordered two spring rolls, which were delicious. $1.50 each. I also had the quart sized portion of chicken with broccoli, $11.79. I asked for spicy. It was not spicy at all. Good thing I brought my own jar of chili garlic sauce on vacation. Overall, the food was decent and the portions were normal.

The health department should look into this place. There are sewer smells when you walk in, and toilet/ sink won’t seem to drain in the men’s bathroom. I grew up in central MN (not known for good Chinese food) and this was the worst Chinese cooking I’ve ever had.

Google
Recommendations doesn't show general tso this is another one including wonton. Soup. Doesn't like to be asked about price it comes to prior to arriving. Prices are a little High for quality and amounts of some dishes but they can do that they are the only ones in town. Posted full menu below bc people only seem to do front page of menu.

Tried to order food. Tried to change vegetables from carrots, celery, onions, peppers to water chestnut, bok choy, pea pods, baby corn, and bamboo shoots. I was told no. I called back and was told it would be $7 to change. I said ok and was hung up on.

Usually pretty good NOT tonight. They were very very busy. Sat in car for close to 1 hr... one man left after 1 and a half hrs. My 21 fried shrimp was extremly hard like as a rock. The fried rice was ok. .

Google
Idk what happened but I stopped to get Chinese food and I was amazed how crowded it was. I ordered my food and was told 30 minutes. There was people waiting for food they ordered at 6 pm and it was now 8pm and they were still waiting for their food. What happened to the time when you could order everything on the menu and it was ready in 15 minutes. These customers who were waiting for so long should have been given something like some cans of soda but they were not. They probably lost some customers tonight

Yelp
Ambiance is a take out Chinese place Service can take a little bit during busy times but overall a reasonable time to turnaround the food about 20 mins The food itself was actually very good! Hopefully the photo makes your mouth water

Yelp
Meh. Just so-so food. Very greasy. Only saving grace was the fact they were busy so the food was hot. Unfortunately this little town wouldn't know good Chinese if it hit them in the face.

Yelp
Good food! Fast service. It would be good if the main eating area was updated a little.

Yelp
Although I like their food, the man at the counter taking orders was the rudest I've ever experienced at any restaurant. Sadly this will not be a business I will return to.

Yelp
Place is bomb not sure why they got so low reviews but I love it best Chinese in town by far

Yelp
For an apparent little hole-in-the wall this Chinese carry out is amazing. Service is slow, but the food flavor and quality is well worth the wait. We have eaten food from numerous Chinese restaurants. This was the best.

Yelp
Great food & fast service. I get the veggie lomain and it always hits the spot, they have good spring rolls too!! I wish they had more vegetarian options though.

Yelp
This food was awful. I was so hungry and I still had to choke down the food. This place should call itself Goopy Sauce Americanized Chinese, instead of having Szechuan in its name. I ordered the Szechuan beef. The menu had it labeled as SPICY! There was no heat at all. I also ordered the roast pork. It was drowned in this gelatinous thick sauce that was supposed to be Char Siu. I fished out the pieces of pork belly and it was tasteless and absolutely no texture. I ordered 2 shrimp egg rolls and there was not even a hint of shrimp.

Yelp
Place is usually okay. Definitely do not order anything after 5pm because the food will most likely taste burnt and like it was sitting there all day. Never had any issues ordering before 5pm though. Price is affordable.

Yelp
Got food to go here a few times while working in nearby Cohocton during the summer of '17. Its basically your typical chinese fast food, all the staple dishes. Ling's can be fairly 'goopy' with a lot of the dishes, I was mainly getting the shrimp w/vegetables & szechuan shrimp, which were too 'goopy' so I would cut them down with a bowl of ramen which was actually really good! I give them 5* on the shrimp & quantity of it, never gotten so much jumbo 'on the fresher side' shrimp before at a chinese takeout, which was the main reason for returning, the prices are fair IMO.

Yelp
Ling Lings deserves better reviews. Their stuff is so good it never disappoints and tastes better than anything else around. 10/10 recommend

Tyler B.

Yelp
Very bland food, and they will often mess up your order. If you're starving and only want Chinese you can get through it but would recommend any of the other food options in the area.

Yelp
Staying local and hungry as heck. Food was great and portions were big. The cost was very reasonable for the portions. The cashier was pleasant and offered some suggestions. Good ones too. So if nearby and hankering for some good Chinese food this is your place.

Yelp
The only show from east to west locally for Asian food. Mainly had soup and dumplings, the staff were very sweet no matter the day. I don't know what I last ordered, but I thought to myself, whatever, had better fresh without doctoring. Agree with goopy comment from previous review with Nick N.

Yelp
Everything was so greasy it made us sick. The pork lo mein was swimming in oil, the pork fried rice was hard and greasy and smelled like rotten or old meat! The chicken wings were small, had no flavor at all, and weren't even crispy! We will NOT be going back!

Yelp
I've had a lot of Chinese food in my life. Most of them do a pretty good in making fried chicken pieces and drowning them in sauce. This place does a good job of that. What separates average and good Chinese for me is the rice. A lot of places seem like the rice was made earlier in the day, and sat around. This place had really good, soft, white rice that made it above average in my opinion. I would recommend the general tsos to anyone that wants an easy and quick dinner in the area!

Yelp
Local place in western ny. I didn't expect good chinese food b/c of that. I ended up ordering general tso chicken and it was pretty good. Not too many ppl so they take their time to make it. It was worth the wait for good food.

Rosemary L.

Yelp
This had to be some of the worst food ever. I went in with already low expectations, but you never know sometimes your surprised. I was surprised alright, at just how bad it was. Inedible. Even while I was waiting excessively long (30 minutes), someone came in with the moo shu wraps and complained they were moldy, the woman in the front took them in the back and came back. Like 5+ minutes later the customer was like where are my new wraps? The cashier spoke no English. I finally got my order and went back to my hotel. Didn't have any wraps but was starving so tried to eat it. My egg roll was cold, the dumplings, nasty. I ate some moo shu and finally just threw it out. Scrounged together some food I had and ate that for dinner. I have gone to my share of this to go Chinese places, the food can be pretty good for the price. This place was horrible....I can't remember the last time I went somewhere this bad.

Yelp
In years past Ling Lings has been awful, but recently they have improved. We always order General Tso, Sweet and sour chicken, and lo mein. It is always hot and tasty when we get it. Our daughter loves it! Service is usually very fast.

Yelp
Don't get the fried dumplings! The inner filling was thick as paste and bland as hell besides the fact that they were not properly fried. The "white rice" wasn't even white but a off color grey and overcooked as well. The exterior could use a facelift and the interior needs a deep cleaning. Service was less than friendly. Nuff said.

Bailey O.

Yelp
This Chinese place literally sucks so bad. The sweet and sour chicken has almost no chicken in it just the breading, the sauce on beef is disgusting and looks congealed. If you want quality Chinese food, go to China, not Ling Ling.

Riley R.

Yelp
Ordered snow peas and shrimp, got lo mein and shrimp, tasting burned. Total YUK

Yelp
This is good authentic Chinese, especially for Steuben County. This family owns a buffet Chinese restaurant on Liberty Street in Bath and another in Riverside, near Corning. As far as I am concerned, they are all great. Read the review from the Canadian lady, had to be a very unusual happening.
