If I could rate with 5 more stars, I would. I work in the Oregon Wine Industry and have visited numerous wineries and tasting rooms in the state. And I must say: my recent visit to Lingua Franca was one of the best and most memorable to date. The wines are excellent and thoughtfully crafted; they speak for themselves.
But the lingering impression left on me and my family was the outstanding hospitality shown to us. Both Jamie and Daniel took incredible care of us while there. Jamie warmly greeted us in the parking lot with sparkling wine and promptly took us on a brief tour of the winery and orientation of the vineyards. We were soon joined by Cedar, one of the sweetest winery dogs ever, and she accompanied us throughout our visit! So sweet. Jamie was incredibly patient with our many questions and gave us all a better understanding of what is Lingua Franca: she is a font of information. She led us to our table nestled in between barrels and concrete fermentation tanks with lights strung overhead. (Lingua Franca does not have a formal tasting room, but what they've done to create a pleasant experience in their space is remarkable!) From there, the very gracious and knowledgeable Daniel took over and guided us through one of the most memorable tastings I've ever experienced in the Willamette Valley. His enthusiasm for the wines, the place, and the valley are contagious. The family loved him! We ordered a delicious charcuterie board that was so elegantly presented, we didn't want to touch it! (The sourdough crackers!!!) We took some of our favorite wines home and talked about the experience the rest of the day.
But the thing that left the biggest impression on us all was that Daniel walked us out to our vehicle upon departing the winery. We couldn't believe it. He took the time to make sure we were taken care of all the way to the parking lot. Incredible... like a beloved family member or friend walking you out to the driveway to your car after a lovely dinner party. From the very moment we arrived to the very moment we departed, we were truly in their care. Absolutely incredible.
In my experience, it's not so common to find a winery where the hospitality reflects the same level of care, attention to detail, and execution exhibited in the wines -- dare I say, a model! Congratulations to Larry, Dominique, Thomas, Jamie, Daniel, George and the entire team at Lingua Franca!! Truly impressive.
