The location of the ranch was unusual- right in the cusp of an industrial section- and if you aren’t paying attention or following map guidance, you could go right past it.
We came on a Thursday in July, so it was hot outside, but not unbearable. The animals all have their own houses equipped with a/c in summer and a heating pad for winter. There is shade available to them and guests.
The staff are very friendly, approachable, and hospitable. They offered enrichment experiences at every enclosure about every 15 mins, keeping you engaged and moving around the whole ranch. It was impressive how many lions they have there, who look healthy and well taken care of.
We arrived around noon and stayed until close 2:00p. It was easy to spend 2 hrs there, and I personally could have been there longer due to my love of lions 🥰. I would encourage any visitor to allow at least 2 hrs to get the most out of the ranch and what they have to offer.
Enrichments we got to see were feeding snacks to each of the lions that were there, including getting a photo in front of one of them, toys for the emus and tortoise with food attached to it, and just general Q & A from the staff and volunteers in each area.
This a non-profit ranch which relies on donations and tourism to generate its funding. The animals appear to be well loved and taken care of, giving them a safe place to live out their lives and educate the public on animal conservation. They housed the original MGM lions when they were removed from the hotel.
