Yelp
Try this place based on all the 5 star reviews. It's close to my house, so decided to pick up myself to get a bit of exercise in. I can say that parking is just ok if you are driving there. Basically just street parking between houses. There aren't really any meter parking or parking lots.
Place is newly remodeled and clean inside. Kitchen is behind a door and the few times they opened the door, I could see that the kitchen is very busy and a couple of Chinese cooks shouting at each other. There were a couple of waitresses serving and taking in the orders over the phone, Our food wasn't ready when we stopped by, I live about 7 blocks away. They told me that they were making it. I think they are doing more take out than in house orders at this time. There were only 3 tables being served while we were waiting, so not very busy in the restaurant.
Food
Beef chow fun dry. 5/5. The chow fun had good wok hay and there was plenty of it.
Sweet and sour pork. 5/5. Pork was well coated in the sweet and sour sauce and they had nice pieces of pork. I hate it when they just fry up fatty pieces of pork
Beef and broccoli 5/5. This was excellent. Broccoli was firm, just the way I like it.
Hot and sour soup. 4/5. So I didn't realize that this was a seafood hot and sour soup, I saw hot and sour soup and was in a mood for it, but it's the first time I've had it with seafood. Why did I deduct a point? It wasn't because of the seafood. Normally, hot and sour soup is made with white pepper for the hot part. They used chili flakes. It was spicy, but not the right kind of spicy that hits you at the back of the throat. I would be sort of ok ordering this again if someone else wanted hot and sour soup, but it just didn't hit the spot for me
Tomato beef chow mein 3/5. My husband thought it was just ok. Now the description did say that it was pan fried, but it's really deep fried noodles. Pan fried implies that there are crispy and soft noodles to me. The tomato beef part which they packed separately was fine. We just would not order this again as the noodles were too crispy for our liking.
Overall, I would definitely come back. Please note that their menu is geared more Americanized Chinese food which is what we ordered. If you are looking for Chinese food with fermented sauces and pickled vegetables that grandma and grandpa like, that is a smaller part of the menu. Next time, I'm going to explore their clay pots and more authentic items
Oh one more thing. They did not have a cash register and were struggling to give me change. Not sure they have the money thing down yet.
