When I think about resorts I’m eager to return to, it usually comes down to service. Unfortunately, LionsDive fell short. Traveling from California to Florida and then all the way to Curaçao—thousands of miles—we expected more than a “meh” experience.||LionsDive lacked the level of hospitality you expect when you go on vacation. The staff didn’t make us feel welcome, and most of the restaurant servers barely greeted us. I learned some of them were temporary hires for the busy Christmas season, only in town for a few weeks. That lack of permanence seemed to translate into a lack of care for the guests—why invest in hospitality when you’re leaving in a week? It wasn’t just the temp hires though.||The experience on New Year’s Eve was the biggest disappointment. Mambo Blvd or close by started constant fireworks at 6PM that lasted hours, and our room, situated near the pool and the restaurant Piazza, became a literal war zone for hours. We had made a reservation at Piazza for our families (three young children and pregnant sister), but it was impossible to even hold a conversation amid the chaos. The hotel never communicated that our room would be so impacted or that we might want to avoid dining at that restaurant.||In desperation, we begged to move to Hemingway for dinner, where two servers and a gentleman who seemed to be managing the evening finally provided some genuine hospitality - thank you. He was wearing a festive blazer that evening. They were friendly and made us feel cared for, which was a stark contrast to the rest of our stay.||That said, outside of that one positive interaction, the overall experience at LionsDive just didn’t deliver. We wouldn’t return.
