"One step into this Northeast bakery and the whiffs of chocolate babka, warm rye fresh out of the oven, and almond danishes will hit you like the fragrance section at Macy’s–although we’re sure the department store has nothing that smells this good. Opened in 1975, this kosher shop is our go-to spot for cakes and pastries. They also have a ton of doughy knishes, including ones with cinnamon rice, cheesy pizza, and creamy spinach. Lipkin's is a good place to grab $4 rugelachs and a fresh cup of coffee before heading back to your covers on a lazy Saturday, or somewhere to pick up a last-minute Jewish apple cake when you remember that text about bringing dessert home for dinner. They also have rows of donuts and cinnamon buns that are essential for any day you leave the house and just want something sweet." - Candis R. McLean

I have been holding off writing this review since July. I ordered a cake for a family occasion. I asked for gold icing. I was told after several questions to the bakery staff from the girl who helped me that gold is not a problem. When I picked up the cake not only was the color yellow, the writing looked like a child did it and the side of the cake was smashed in. The assistant manager accused me of having brought the cake back in and that I smashed it in transit when in fact I had just walked into the bakery. When I finally was able to explain what happened she did apologize but said there was no one present to fix it for me, no one in a bakery to fix a cake. She also told me that gold isn't usually used and I should have received a phone call to clarify even though when I ordered it seemed like it was confirmed it was available. I left the store very unhappy and embarrassed to serve it at my affair. I called back and asked for icing and chips so I could "rehab" the cake myself. Again, she was VERY rude to me. I have had multiple correspondence with the owner Steve who offered to reimburse me the cost of the cake and yet I have received nothing. Apparently when the check was sent in the mail, it never came. When his son was supposed to drop it off at my home, it never came. Nothing. I have tried so many times before leaving this review and nothing. As I look at other reviews the poor customer service is acknowledged but not corrected. I have been a customer for over 40 years. I will never go back...if I could leave "0" stars I would. The first picture is what I received. The second picture is how we fixed it.

Always the best. Delicious onion rolls, rye bread, salt sticks, bagels, cakes, brownies, knish and so much more.

The pasteries were too dry and old. The Challah bread was also very dry and tasted like regular bread. The brownnies were also just too sweet and look like chips were just throwen on top. This was my first time here snd will be the last. Plus the price was little high. One loaf of challah bread was six dollars. Anyway don't waste your money and look for a better place.

Absolutely the best bakery in the Northeast, in every respect!! They don't make bakeries like this anymore. Lipkin's has a friendly, helpful, simply amazing staff!! They're pastries, cookies, and especially the cakes are absolutely amazing. The prices are more than reasonable, especially given the quality of their products. On top of it, they have great hours, for those of us whom have to work, and can't make it to the bakery by 5pm, when most close. Lipkin's is open until 6 most week days, except Friday when they stay open until 7!! Not to mention they're open on Sundays! Some of us like fresh doughnuts on Sundays, especially when they're the best doughnuts in the world!!!!! Thanks Lipkin's, and keep up the yummy!!!

My first time here in years, I thought I remembered them as being amazing, but unfortunately this was definitely not the case. We tried several different rye breads, onion, seeded, and plain. They were all a little bit stale and were not the best tasting. I also ordered a few large cookies and one of them was not fully cooked inside, but the other two were pretty good. One of the ladies at the counter was a bit rude. Over-all, I would give them a 3-star rating, and that's being extra-kind. Definitely needs improvement. My mother said she was not very impressed with the rye breads, either, but maybe it was just not a good day for them. We all deserve a second chance in life to do better. Have a Blessed day....

Awesome experience! Others have complained about the employees being ride or having an attitude and that wasn't my experience at all. Both girls behind the counter were very nice and over the top helping me as I had many questions being my first time in there. Cookies were amazing. Couldn't have had a more pleasant experience! Thanks Lipkin's

I used to love this place. Came in this morning and ended up leaving, not coming back any more. When your working and having a bad day, go somewhere, take a break. I work retail myself and I know how it is. I came in nice and friendly, and since I walked in the lady had an attitude. I asked for bagels, and didn’t hear what she said so I asked whats the difference and she had an attitude about it. Then I read the sign that they are not taking food stops right now, and said ill be back. Again she had an attitude saying its been down for months. I haven’t been here in months, how would I know, if its on a piece of paper in the store by the register. Months ago I remember sharing this place with my friends, after the customer service I got today, I will not be coming back. The people used to be so friendly inside. Their cookies, bread and all is good, but I don’t appreciate how I was treated today.
