Everywhere to Eat and Drink in the Adirondacks - Eater NY

"A family favorite for generations, Lisa G’s serves pizza, sandwiches, and other comforting fare. The chicken parm is spiced up by a walnut pesto, and the lemon Caesar salad has been a menu mainstay for years. In the busy summer months, the restaurant offers fewer regular entrees so the kitchen can experiment with more specials, which are listed on a board each evening." - Matthew Lardie

Google
Service was speedy and friendly, food was fantastic, and the outdoor patio was awesome! We got the goat cheese and blueberry salad and the fried chicken sandwich, along with some wings. Everything was great! They get bonus points for being very dog-friendly. The menu was fairly unique, and just about everything sounded good. I'd definitely recommend Lisa G's to anyone looking for a good meal at a decent price!

Google
My server was very knowledgeable about the vegan options here and helped me navigate the menu with ease. The noodles were perfect, the vegetable broth was delicious and the veggies were spot on! The atmosphere was very nice and my patio seat overlooked the stream and water feature which was Very pleasant and relaxing as I was riding my motorcycle 🏍️ and knew I was going to catch some rain 🌧️ on the way back to Schenectady, which I did, lol. Had a great time and hope to bring the family with me next time we are in Lake Placid! 😁👍🏼🏍️💨

Google
Really nice place to eat. The food is very good! The staff were friendly. The service was great. We did not wait very long for our food and beverages. This place is a great find just off the busy strip. Added bonus plenty of free parking nearby.

We recently dined at Lisa G's in Lake Placid and had a mixed experience. While the food was excellent and the staff was friendly, we were disappointed with the back patio seating. The tables were quite wobbly, which made for an uncomfortable dining experience. Additionally, the lack of shade on the patio made it uncomfortable on a sunny day. If you have kids or are bothered by wobbly tables, I’d recommend avoiding the back patio. Overall, the indoor experience might be better for families.

Google
The chicken parm here is to die for. Very nice place with great ambiance. You can tell they are Lake Placid veterans. Definitely a go for family, friends and date night.

Google
The food was excellent. The menu is eclectic, with items from every cuisine. I had the enchiladas, which were excellent. The mole was a touch sweet, but all of the flavors were so good. The tortillas were deep fried and stayed crispy with all that sauce on top. Prices are a bit lower than other restaurants in Lake Placid, and I think the food is better too. When we arrived it was really busy. Seems like there are often line ups. No one came to our table for the first 20 minutes, but they realized the error and quickly corrected it. My beer came came in a minute, and the food was relatively quick as well.

Google
Really delicious food and good vegetarian options (hard to come by in the area)! I highway recommend the cheese treat appetizer. Easily the best meal we had in lake placid.

Julie P

Google
Quite enjoyed the food! Monday evening in July was busy at 7pm (make a reservation). Waiters and service staff are very young, seemed to be in training - Therefore, service was very slow. If you're patient, not a problem, as the atmosphere is vibrant and the patio is lovely. Our waitress was very nice. Don't order soft drinks, they are flat, and we were told that's how the machine serves them.

Yelp
Just returned from our 2nd visit this week to Lisa G's. Our server, Maria, was so welcoming and knowledgeable and served us promptly. Food was delicious and the cocktails are awesome! We will continue to eat there whenever we are in Lake Placid. Our favorite place of the many places in this beautiful village! Thanks Lisa G!!!

Yelp
We drove by this place a few times and every time thought, that place looks like it has some good grub! Well turns out we were wrong... It has some amazing grub! This spot is situated a block or so outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown on a waterfront. The inside was comfortable and low key, your typical pub/watering hole but the food bats above that weight class. We started with delicious lemony Greek wings that came with a whipped feta dipping sauce. Refreshing and divine on a hot day. I then went for the pork enchiladas that came topped with a mole sauce - I am a sucker for mole sauce - and it was delicious. Deep, zesty, chocolatey, everything you want in a mole sauce! We ended with the cinnamon raisin bread pudding which was delicious but begged for a scoop of ice cream rather than whipped cream. This will be a must stop every time we head to Lake Placid.

Yelp
Great service and food with options for picky eaters or adventurers palettes. It was a busy night with folks traveling in for the solar eclipse but you wouldn't know with how efficient the restaurant ran. I had the fried goat cheese and blueberry salad- very delicious though a little heavily dressed. They had a few dinner and dessert specials as well. If you're looking for a place away from the crowded main street, this is the place to go.

Yelp
All the staff try their best to cover everyone. They're all amazing! The bar always packed with people! And always has long wait lists, approx 30min. Their menu changing every 3mo/6mo (not sure). They always put their special menu every week. Everything they served is enjoyable!!! Love the vibes, the atmosphere, and the people!

Yelp
Everything we ate was incredible. Whenever we come to Lake Placid, we will come here and wait for however long we need to wait. It is worth it. This time, we waited 40 minutes. Lisa G's is a very loud and fun spot, and this is not a criticism, but I think anyone reading this review might want to know. It sits near a dam and stream, so if the weather is as nice as it was for us, waiting for your table is a beautiful experience. So why 4 stars vs 5? Our server, who was otherwise wonderful, forgot us twice and we did not get our leftovers as a result. It was packed and very busy which I think was the cause.

Linda R.

Yelp
Great location and service! The menu was eclectic and tasty. I would highly recommend Lisa gs
google avatar

Jaycee F.

Yelp
I've eaten here twice. The food and drinks are great. Last weekend we were seated immediately but weren't waited on for 30 minutes. We were about to leave when someone finally came to give us water and take our order. After that the service was great, but I was irritated for awhile. Overall a good place, I'd go back.
google avatar

Marjo G.

Yelp
I was pretty blown away by how beautiful the interior looked at Lisa G's! The service was great and the food and drinks were amazing! We had: + complimentary bread: omg these were so soft and warm and the butter just topped off the wonderful appetizer + Chicken Parm: boy these servings are huge! The pesto on top was a nice touch + Pappardelle: very good, tasted a little sweet from the sauce but cooked well, perfect al dente + Capertif Spritz: delicious and fruity and not too strong of an alcohol taste! Perfect for my taste used because it was so refreshing Our server Tyler was super awesome and made sure we were taken care of

Yelp
Excellent lunch. We were seated quickly and waited on immediately. I had the Moroccan burrito and my 9 year old son had the Le Burgermeister ... we both loved it. Even the ginger ale was great
google avatar

Gabrielle K.

Yelp
Food here was amazing! Came with a large party and ate on the back deck. They remodelled the inside about two year ago or so and did a great job updating it. We ordered a variety of food and everything was great especially the cheese treat we started with. Service was also very good and fast.
google avatar

Yelp
Never disappoints! We always visit Lisa G's on our visits to Lake Placid we usually sit outside and love listening the the water run in the creek by the deck. This time we ended up inside a bit loud but a fun vibe. Started with the pork lettuce wraps nice and flavorful! Love how fresh all the ingredients are. I usually opt for one of their specials but this time tried the pork schnitzel which I have not had since I visited Europe back in the 90's and this was amazing loved the German. Potato salad it was served on. My boyfriend had the quinoa salad with chicken such a large portion had a hard time finishing. The Toni Basil drink is wonderful and we finished with a great GF chocolate cake ---save room for the cake!!!!!

Rachel K.

Yelp
The food here is amazing!! I got the Moroccan Burrito. It was to die for!! I'm not vegetarian but it's a delicious option for anyone! The pita was crisp and warm and flavors very fantastic. My partner got Le Burgermeister and it was also great. We didn't order drinks but the drink menu looks yummy too. We have been here twice and sat on the patio each time. The ambiance is lovely outside and you can find a shady or sunny table when there is availability. We did make reservations as we always see tons of cars parked put.
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
Loved this place! We sat outdoors under the canopy so we could hear the mini waterfall and enjoy the breeze. We ordered a variety of dishes - sandwiches, wings, tacos and salad to share. Food was great, especially the chicken sandwich... it was like a Chick-fil-A deluxe sandwich but better! As an added plus, Lisa G's was dog friendly. Friendly service, good food and great nature ambiance.

Yelp
We are new to the area and decided to try Lisa G's because of the reviews. Made a reservation for a Saturday night. Plenty of times available. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated immediately . The interior of the restaurant has the vibe of a club where people come to drink Scotch ( couldn't think of a better way to describe). Lots of wood etc. We were greeted by a server almost immediately with water and she offered to answer any questions we had about the menu etc. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the food. My husband had a cocktail called a Tiki Mule which he enjoyed. I chose iced tea which was as expected. We started with the garlic scallion fries with garlic Mayo as an appetizer and they were delicious. We each got a pizza. Apparently they used to have thin crust and the server was quick to tell us their crust had changed in case that affected our choice. I had the pepperoni and my husband had the sausage and pepper which he liked and enjoyed the spiciness of. Mine was excellent too. I don't know about their former crust but this crust was very good. We took home more than half each. We really enjoyed our experience here. Food 9/service10/ ambiance 8

Yelp
The wings requested "crispy" came rubbery...the hipster crew couldn't be bothered with keeping wings in a fryer? Three stars for an excellent bloody mary that was almost Caesar worthy... complete w olive, pickles, and celery salt rimmer. The wings were a total bummer tho...undercooked. Staff are quite friendly...Will be back and try something else next time. Maybe the most non touristy joint in town....and they like it that way.
google avatar

Andrea R.

Yelp
The food was incredible! We each enjoyed a dish that we all shared. The dining space was eclectic and warm, family friendly, and comfortable. We would definitely eat there again!

Yelp
Came here with some friends when we were visiting Lake Placid. This place was packed for dinner and we only were able to get seating inside. It was extremely hot and stuffy inside - I don't think they have AC here. I would of preferred outdoor dining but I think you have to book way in advance for that, especially for a large group. To start, we ordered the Calamari, Moroccan Nachos, and the Sesame Ginger Salad. For my entree I ordered the Skirt Steak. I enjoyed the nachos and the salad. The calamari was okay and my skirt steak was super dry and really tough to chew through - not good :( If you want a really big meal, I suggest getting the chicken parm - my friend got that and it definitely can be 2-3 meals lol. Overall, not too memorable of an experience and the temperature in the restaurant didn't help as we were sweating while eating our dinner. Service was alright but it was also super busy.

Erin C.

Yelp
If you skip out on this place while in Lake Placid, you're straight up stupid. We love the greek wings - so flavorful with a delicious feta dipping sauce - and the maple bourbon sauce is delightful as well.
google avatar

Wendy K.

Yelp
Loved the view, the service and the vibe. So glad we found it. After passing by several times we decided to pull in and check it out. So glad that we did even for a short visit. Grabbed a glass of wine (me) and beer (him) plus chips (not homemade) and salsa (homemade). We will be back next time!

Autumn R.

Yelp
Fish and chips were sooooo oily The batter didn't stay put I think they forgot the salt in the meal as well So so so disappointed
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. I only get to Lake Placid once a year but every time I make sure to eat here once or twice. The staff is always helpful and nice. The cocktails are delish. And the food is so good. Anything Mediterranean inspired is my favorite. I had the scallops last time I ate here and they tasted great but the portion was a little small.
google avatar

Leena S.

Yelp
We were in Lake Placid over the summer and found Lisa G's though Yelp. We popped in for lunch and had great food and service! We sat in the bar area since the wait for a regular table I was about 35 minutes. Not sure if it's always this crowded but a reservation wouldn't be a bad idea! I ordered the turkey sandwich (T.A.B.L.T) and my husband went with the tacos. One of the best turkey sandwiches I've had. They used thick slices of carved turkey breast (not deli slices). It was really tasty!
google avatar

Bubby N.

Yelp
The food was the worst. I had ordered Chicken Tenders with Fries and I only ended up eating the Fries because the Chicken Tenders were so gross. The Service was bad as well, the waitress we had came to our table after 10 minutes of being seated. Bathrooms aren't handicap accessible which is not okay. The ambiance was boring too, the worst place I've been too.
google avatar

Rob G.

Yelp
Hey this is a gem in the High Peaks area (Saranac Lake to Lake Placid). Food was great, service was quick, friendly, & attentive w/out being annoying. Parking is tricky but hey if you want everything go to NYC and take a taxi! In fact, more people should stay in NYC. We had a party of 6 and had a smattering of everything on the menu. All good & tasty. Interesting atmosphere/ambiance too. Bar looked like fun if we were to go just for drinks. Didn't see any bar-fly's either but we might have been to early for that crowd.
google avatar

M T.

Yelp
We stopped by Lisa G's for a quick bite since it was within walking distance of our hotel and it was a good choice. The service was good and the place was clean. We ordered the shrimp tacos, lemon pepper wings and maple bourbon wings along with a couple of drinks. The wings were good, especially the maple bourbon ones. Shrimp tacos with the pineapple salsa are really good. Would come back if I'm ever in the area again.
google avatar

Simon W.

Yelp
Great food and service at excellent prices. The bacon and blueberry goat cheese pizza really is excellent and they had some interesting IPA's and hefeweizen beer options. Unfortunately the martini was watery - probably left on the bar to too long with the ice melting. The chocolate cake was good. To finish I tried a local bourbon which as good and the shot must have been 3oz, good thing I was walking!
google avatar

Kay P.

Yelp
Visited in the Winter time, many of the store was closed, but Lisa G was open. Food was great and service was excellent. One of the best places to eat in this area.
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
During our visit to Lake Placid we were recommended to try Lisa G's. It was walking distance to our VRBO so we decided to check it out. On a Saturday night at around 7pm there was a 2 hour wait. Wow!! Lucky for us, you can order food in the bar area and we got a spot that fit all 4 of us. I had a mango margarita to drink and it was tasty. Hubby and I split the blueberry bacon pizza and the Greek wings. Both were very good. The chicken thigh pizza and the dry rub chili wings were also good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, though I can't imagine happily waiting for food from any place for 2 hours. Get there early!

Karamjit K.

Yelp
We're from New York City and it was our first time visiting Lake Placid. We wanted some really delicious food for lunch and this place fully delivered. The customer service was pleasant. Food was tasty and our fave were the Greek style wings. Highly recommend this restaurant. Don't forget to check out the waterfall/dam!
google avatar

Sharon W.

Yelp
Out of steak, pork schnitzel, chicken thighs and calamari. Food was okay but when you have to go to your fifth option on the menu what do you expect. Ordered salad with blackened salmon received chicken salad - returned to kitchen. The staff was pleasant but the host recommended the pork schnitzel- why are you recommending what the kitchen does not have. Less than stellar experience for sure.
google avatar

Rebecca K.

Yelp
Stopped here for a yummy lunch! We started by sitting outside with a view of the waterfall. We were chilled so moved onto the porch where it was a bit warmer. We started with chips and salsa. Yum. You'll see a theme here but the salsa was soooo fresh! I had the large basic salad with house vinaigrette and salmon. The salmon had a nice crust on it. The salad has so many healthy fresh veggies, red onion, carrots and cucumber. There was plenty of dark green spinach. My friend had the cod and had the waiter tell the chef it was delicious. Another friend had the lemon Caesar salad with chicken. She said it was a delicious twist in Caesar salad. Great place. Good service. You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. The setting , atmosphere and vibe was nice. The Calamari was so good! As we're my shrimp tacos! Things I wasn't a huge fan of. 1. 40 minute wait between appetizers and dinner 2. The slaw had way too much mayo in it. All in all it was a good experience and I will revisit
google avatar

Peter K.

Yelp
Attractive bar/restaurant. Busy place, had to get on wait line. Booming bar, good draft beers. Lots of workers, good service. Food was plentiful, generous portions. Had chicken wings (maple sugar, good but too sweet for me. Buffalo hot, spicy and tangy more my style), nacho chips with guac (it was store bought commerical chips with side of salsa and guac, meh), shrimp taco (2 big overloaded tacos with breaded shrimp and mango toppings, not bad) and side of commercial potato chips. Store bought chips, I would have let pass but the thing that surprised me was the brussel sprouts. It was sold as brussel sprouts, but in reality it was raw sliced BS in a big bowl of greens, fried potato cubes and bacon. It wasn't a salad and it wasn't a BS dish. BS needs to be cooked to bring out its sweetness and to tenderize it, IMHO. It wasn't. The coup de grace was the whole raw unsliced BS at the bottom of the bowl. Deduction of point for quality control, misuse of a good BS and use of commerical potato and nacho chips as easy/cheap sides to a dish. Relative to the area, it's a good place to go. Since I was on vaca, didn't let my critical self complain about the BS or the chips. As Elsa sang, Let it go Let it go.
google avatar

Greg M.

Yelp
Great location. Not so great food To start, this place is packed. I mean PACKED. We had a reservation and it took a good 15 minutes for us to swim through the people to finally tell someone we were present. Pretty wild considering it was a Monday night. I decided to order the wings and the Smack-N-Stack burger. Wait times weren't too bad, given how busy they were. When our food came I decided to try the wings first and unfortunately they felt as if they had been reheated and had sauce put on them. I know dinner time rushes can be a hassle, but wings are one of the easier things to quickly cook and I would've had no problem waiting a little longer for them to be done right. I was excited for the burger as there is nothing quite as enjoyable as a fresh, simple burger. It was piping hot and looked as if it had come right off the grill, but unfortunately it was incredibly dry, almost to the point of being inedible, I was super disappointed because it seemed so promising. Perhaps coming during one of the busier times of the day was a mistake as it definitely felt reflected in the quality of the food. Lisa Gs is always a staple of my lake placid trip, so I will definitely be back. I really do enjoy the location and the fact that they're pretty family friendly. I will definitely looking to see if they can redeem themselves next year.

Yelp
We enjoyed SUCH an awesome dinner here during our recent visit to Lake Placid. It was our final evening and were looking for something classic and not too touristy - Lisa G's hit the mark. I started with a mango margarita that wasn't overly sweet and absolutely hit the spot after a long day of outdoor fun. We nabbed the greek wings (a must order) that came with a really delicious feta dipping sauce on the side. My date got an absolutely DELICIOUS ribeye that was on special, and I went with the fish n chips. The haddock was fresh and delicious and NOT particularly light - more of a splurge. The ambiance is chic but casual (if that makes sense?) with moody lighting and an "all are welcome" kind of vibe. The bar is decked out beautifully! We saw a bachelorette party there, some locals in for an "off peak time" drink, and families having dinner after a kid's sporting event. A great stop in LP!
google avatar

Sharon S.

Yelp
Been up to LP several times in the past few years but never came here usually because it was closed. Had the shrimp tacos which were so tasty with the mango salsa. Delicious! Added coleslaw instead of chops for $3-should have been included. IMHO. Mom had the fish and fries which she enjoyed. It was a huge piece of fresh haddock. Service was friendly but didn't refill our drinks. Good menu, challenging street parking but we found a spot. Thank you!
google avatar

Isabelle L.

Yelp
We dined at this place when we first arrived Lake Placid after 5 hours drive. We immediately noticed that restaurants around this place were all so full and we needed to make reservations quite a few days ahead of time. We walked into this place and waited for 40min and finally had our dinner at 9pm. We shared fried calamari: thinly battered, very crispy, nicely done. We had this shrimp and bacon dish I though, forgot the exact name from the menu. Portion of shrimp is quite small. Sea bass tastes great, a little bit undercooked right in the middle. Radish are fine.

Yelp
Finally some good American food in New York! Everything here was good. So good. Elevated American food that isn't too cheffy, just with perfect cook times and extra touches that really make each dish shine. My partner and I split everything. We are painfully stuffed but we managed because it was all so good. Dry rub chili wings- addictive. Sweet, with some heat, and somehow, I don't know how, they go really well with the provided ranch dressing. Blueberry goat cheese salad. We added grilled chicken. Also in this dish is some sort of sweet pickled onion, I think, crunchy almonds, and high quality greens. Fried fish- like eating a fluffy, well-herbed and seasoned fish cloud. So delicate! Perfectly cooked. Perfect breading that was crispy but not at all hard or soggy. The fries were tasty, too! We finished with a creme brulee, which the waitress was kind enough to put a birthday candle in. She was really nice! Omg so nice! Er, yeah, and the margarita is generous. I got the mango one. I drank the whole thing. I'm gonna lie down now. I'd say I'm gonna think about my life choices after eating so much food, but I have NO REGRETS!
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Came here for dinner the day before the Ironman race and it was packed! I ordered the Blueberry and Bacon pizza and it is nothing like I have ever tasted before. It was absolutely amazing! Never thought I would have blueberry in my pizza but its great idea. I also had a ginger beer which was also great. Service was good!

Ron W.

Yelp
Fantastic meal. I got the pork schnitzel with German potato salad. It was very good, reminded me of my childhood in Ridgewood Queens where every corner had a great German restaurant. My wife got the miso glazed salmon, also very good. Service was also great, love to see staff working as a team, everyone was helping each other at all times. Sit out back if the weather is good, great view of a small water dam.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
Lisa Gs was a great choice for dinner when we couldn't manage to get in anywhere else. We're quite glad that was the case because we really enjoyed it here. The ambiance was very cool and upbeat. Our service was very friendly and prompt. We really enjoyed all of the food as well. I thought the calamari was particularly good. We will absolutely come back next time we are in the area.
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
The staff here is amazing and don't be afraid to be a walk in. Even on Iron Man weekend we were seated quickly and the food comes out fast. The only reason it's not a 5 star review is that the calamari was a little over cooked which with calamari is a no no. The Burata stuffed ravioli with scallops was excellent and the pizza there with Ricotta and mushrooms is also excellent. It's just outside of the main craziness with a waterfall out back and there is plenty of room. I will be going back.
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
OMG what a find. Fabulous food value for Lake Placid. A wonderful meal served quickly. I had the fish and fries. Not the typical fish and chips at all. Scantily breaded tender haddock with twice as many fries as I could manage. Waiter was fabulous.

Thomas H.

Yelp
If there's a real life equivalent of "Cheers" this is it. Except it has food. Terrific food at tasty prices. Specialty drinks, fine beer selection, and without doubt the best Bloody Mary around. Plus, well-behaved dogs are welcome on the back porch. What more could you ask for, except a flotilla of yellow rubber ducks bobbling over the adjacent waterfall once a year. The folks who work here not only know your name, they remember what you drink and can probably guess what you're going to have for dinner.
google avatar

Remco T.

Yelp
We had dinner here. Typical American style food and pub. Had good ratings and was close to our Airbnb. They sat us relatively quickly. We got chicken wings and fish and chips. They were both amazing. It was extremely good for pub food. Buffalo wings with fresh blue cheese on the side. Teriyaki wings with wasabi on the side. Not dry and meaty wings. Well cooked. The fish was fresh. Service was timely and friendly. The place is a bit loud but hey, what do you want it's a pub. Place is clean and is well run. People seemed to enjoy themselves all around the place.
google avatar

W A.

Yelp
Wings were decent. Steak sandwich was small and the bread they used is just some boring soft hoagie roll from the market. Service and vibe were good. If we go back, I'll probably just grab appetizers and a drink.

Jonathan S.

Yelp
We enjoyed this with two teenage boys. A mix of appetizers and sandwiches. Good ambiance, upscale pub

Christina C.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch. Started off with pesto calamari, delicious. My husband had shrimp tacos, Yum! I had lemon Caesar salad- very good! Our waiter Conner was awesome, food was very good, great ambiance. Would def return!

Julia D.

Yelp
Lisa G's was the perfect spot to visit as a group of seven, particularly since we are COVID-conscious and wanted to find a cute dinner spot with spacious outdoor seating. The back patio was stunning, and situated directly on the creek which provides a gorgeous view in the daylight and ambient atmosphere. Our waiter was attentive, patient, and friendly (hi Forest!). He generously gave us recommendations for where to visit during our stay in Lake Placid, and went above and beyond in his table service. I ordered the nachos, and unfortunately wasn't impressed (nachos anywhere can be hit or miss, so maybe this was my miscalculation). My friends had the chicken parm and loved it. I should have ordered the fish and chips, which sounded great -- ah, regrets! Lastly, I highly recommend the "up in smoke" mezcal cocktail. Has a kick of spice & the perfect ratio of flavor.

Melanie D.

Yelp
Omg! The burger and hand cut fries was probably the best burger I have ever had. And I've had a lot of burgers at a lot of different places. The one and only thing that I feel could have really taken it over the top is if they used fresh made burger buns. I mean it was still amazing but that really would give it that extra! Yummy!!!! I would give them 10 stars if I could.
