The Hit List: New San Francisco Restaurants To Try Right Now

"There aren’t many dedicated Hawaiian spots in the city, so the arrival of Little Aloha is a Big Deal for anyone who has li hing mui running through their veins. The takeout-only spot in Parkside is masterfully filling the niche—garlic shrimp gets fried until crisp, and their pineapple sausage is a revelation smeared with a breath-ruining amount of thick garlic butter sauce. The only acceptable way to round out a trip here is with a well-packed mound of syrup-soaked shave ice, which is the ideal escapism treat when it’s 60 degrees and foggy here." - julia chen 1, ricky rodriguez, patrick wong

For fantastic Hawaiian food on the go, head to Little Aloha - Review - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"There aren’t many dedicated Hawaiian spots in the city, but this takeout-only spot in Parkside is masterfully filling the niche for anyone who has li hing mui running through their veins. Step into the counter-service space and you’re greeted with bright murals of waves and hibiscus flowers, a shelf of Hawaiian snacks (lilikoi shortbread, anyone?), and a shave ice machine humming away in the back. The short menu of decadent entrées and sides are as good as anything you’d find islandside—you’ll see tightly wrapped spam musubi for an on-the-go snack, crisp garlic shrimp and pineapple sausage plates, and containers loaded with tater tots, furikake, and spicy mayo. Also know that no visit is complete without the shave ice, a syrup-soaked mound we’d take down even on a foggy day out in the Avenues. If you want to eat your shrimp immediately, there’s a bench out front, or you can take your haul to McCoppin Square for a picnic. photo credit: Erin Ng photo credit: Erin Ng photo credit: Erin Ng photo credit: Erin Ng photo credit: Erin Ng Food Rundown photo credit: Erin Ng Spam Musubi This palm-sized bundle hits all the marks—spam with caramelized edges, a smattering of furikake, and sweet and fluffy rice. We have no notes. photo credit: Erin Ng Shrimp + Sausage When you inevitably can’t decide between garlic shrimp or pineapple sausage, get this plate with both. And while both are worth your time, it’s the smoky sausage that really sings. Everything is smeared with a breath-ruining amount of thick garlic butter sauce that should be bottled and sold. photo credit: Erin Ng Shave Ice You're ordering this. The shave ice here has that super fine texture that’s hard to find in the city. The well-packed dessert gets fully saturated with lilikoi, cherry, or POG syrup. Purple Potato Salad The mini chunks of potato are satisfyingly creamy, but the thick-cut bacon is what really lends a salty punch. This is a sleeper hit. photo credit: Erin Ng Hurricane Tots Throw spicy mayo, furikake, and arare into a box of tater tots and there’s not much that can go wrong. You should get these to snack on if you’re sharing with a group, but you could also easily take down an entire order alone." - Julia Chen

Google
Legitimately good. Ice is shaved extremely fine and they don't skimp on the flavor. Looking forward to going back. Love that they take extra care to be gluten free and that's prominently displayed.

Google
TLDR: I love half portions so I can try more items on the menu, food was very tasty I ordered a half portion of the shrimp and sausage combo, the shrimp had some great flavor but what was most impressive was the flavor on the sausage, that was juicy and tasty sausage, it had a burst of flavor. The spam musubi was pretty good but personally I wasn’t a fan of the sauce because it was a little sweet. Other that that, everything was great, I really liked the half portion. One spam musubi and a half portion was $13 after tax which is very reasonable!

Google
Got a large shaved ice and it did not disappoint it was very flavorful. A delicious sweet treat. I like that you can choose up to 3 flavors and can add ice cream or other toppings. There is a seating area outside. Must order through kiosk. Fast and efficient service.

Google
I highly recommend trying this place. The shaved ice was excellent, with a good portion size and just the right amount of sweetness. The spam kimchi musubi was also good; I liked that it was portioned perfectly for me to bite into it without the ingredients falling apart

Google
We tried the spam musubi and it was excellent! They have so many delicious looking snacks, I wish I could try them all.

Google
High quality shaved ice - lovingly shaped and thoroughly drizzled with syrup. Also lots of legit Hawaiian snacks and other offerings! However, this is more like a food truck setup - no tables or anything to sit for extended periods of time.

Google
So much yum it broke da mouth. Don't sleep on the shrimp and sausage!

Google
Drove by and saw a long line for their shaved ice on a hot day so I placed an order online for pickup once I parked to be ready in 15 mins. Great that they use tech to spare me the time waiting in line. Ordered a couple of spam musubis with kimchi, loaded hurricane tots, and the "full" order of half garlic shrimp and half sausage. For $16 bucks I wouldn't call that a "full" order. I understand shrinkflation but I recently purchased a dozen jumbo garlic shrimp from Giovanni's Shrimp and other shrimp boat cap'ns on the islands where staples are more expensive than the mainland - you can get a dozen jumbo garlic shrimp for $15 bucks. It blows my mind that here in this little hole in the wall with no dine-in option, you barely get 4 shrimp and 5 little slices of sausage in their "full" order (which equates to maybe half a sausage) for $16 bucks. Acting like they are using carabineros shrimp or something. You can spare me the cheap fillers of white rice and sad cabbage that fill out the plate, but this is not a "full" size order and what I expect in a half-order amount. Decent flavors reminiscent of some of those aforementioned shrimp trucks, but I'm not digging the price gouge here. The hurricane tots and musubis were nice snacks and about market price. The spam musubis reminded me of the same kind purchased at 7/11's on the islands. Not sure that there is enough aloha in Little Aloha to draw me back for return visits. Make sure you ask for napkins and utensils if you need them.

Yelp
Finally got to try this cute little takeout spot. If you're craving north shore style garlic shrimp, look no further. My hubs and both loved our choices, him choosing the half and half sausage + garlic shrimp, and I going with the full garlic shrimp. Each piece was juicy and so flavorful. The spicy garlic shrimp is more smoky than spicy. The rice soaked up all the buttery goodness. And the tater tots. Yumm! Definitely want to come back to try their hurricane shrimp and shave ice for dessert.

Yelp
Love that they have mini plates available. Tried their loco moco and it was good. Great portion for a mini. Service: took some time since they were busy, otherwise very efficient Ambiance: small place, casual, challenging to find parking

Yelp
Got this for lunch with my man. He thought the portion sizes via Yelp Photos were for 'ants'. However after completion- I'd say the portions were generous. Lots of shrimp pieces. I didn't count but I'd say 8 pieces give or take plus. Plenty of rice. Maybe not enough cabbage if anything. He got the (original) half garlic shrimp half pineapple sausage while I got the (spicy) garlic shrimp; we opted for full over half orders for both. And got the sweet potatoe salad - super good. There is no in door dining - a little bit of shame. But food was well worth. He said he'd get this again.

Yelp
I can't eat this all the time, but it does hit some degree of satisfaction each time my husband and I do takeout here. I usually order the Shrimp & Sausage main, which comes with housemade garlic butter (delicious and addictive), and pineapple sausage, which is quite the sweet and salty combo. My husband always gets the Loco Moco, which is also very satisfying. Even if you get the full order with two patties, they only give you one egg FYI. We also somewhat like the furikake fries, but only because I feel like we're always craving a side, but they don't have anything like mac salad. They do have Spam Masubi, which is delicious too. We've had the purple potato salad before, and it was no big deal unfortunately- skip that one. They have the Shaved Ice too, which is DELICIOUS and very, very satisfying, if you're craving that little taste of Aloha. However, you can't order it ahead of time with the food - you basically have to order it when you arrive, which did take forever for the server to make it for me (bizarre since I was the only customer in there, he was the only cashier, someone else was cooking preparing the hot food, and THAT food was also ready for me on the counter). They have all the true flavors of Lilikoi, Blue Hawaii, Lychee, POG, etc. You can pick a few flavors, which is helpful. If you want to add ice cream, which I would, you have to pay another $2.50. The whole Shaved Ice dessert, even if you order the small one (and it's HUGE!), will still come out to about $9.50 with tax etc., which is super annoying...it's just expensive Suggestions for improvement? I wish they had more Hawaiian plates to choose from. There aren't many dishes here, some favorites I was hoping for include the Macaroni Salad, Chicken Katsu, Poke, Chicken Teriyaki, Galbi, etc. Those are a lot of items that seem pretty typical for a Hawaiian cuisine restaurant. Another suggestion - their hours are horrible. Why do they close at 6:45 pm?! That makes no sense!!! It's frustrating when my husband and I do crave this, and by the time want to order, it's closed. Huge bummer. Overall, I love the food here, and have definitely been a repeat customer!

Yelp
After a lovely trip to Kuaui, HI where I got shaved ice multiple days in a row, my friends and I were having a craving to relive our vacation days with a lovely sweet treat. However, I was pretty disappointed by it. The texture was not as soft as the Hawaiian shaved ice & the syrups tasted very artificial, unlike the real fruit Hawaii uses. Overall, felt too sugary & didn't live up to expectations. It seems like people are loving the cooked food though - so I want to come back and grab some of their other Hawaiian cuisine.

Yelp
Shrimp & Sausage: 5/5 Moco Loco: 3.5/5 The shrimp and pineapple sausage entree was my favorite! I enjoyed the butter garlic sauce that the shrimp was cooked in. Holy moley, I could consume that sauce with rice everyday. I would gain 50 pounds so that would be a problem but... yolo??? If you like spicy, order it spicy! The Moco Loco was ok. The meat patty was not as tender as I would've liked and the sauce was thicker than what I'm used to. Glad I tried it though.

Yelp
This is a small, adorable Hawaiian place that you can find in Parkside. Little Aloha has a small yet strong selection of Hawaiian eats and I was glad I found this place when I was in the Sunset. Three things were ordered. The Garlic Shrimp Rice Plate, Hurricane Tots, and the Pineapple Sausage Rice Plate. If you're a fan of the Hurricane Snack Mix from Hawaii, then this would taste almost exactly the same with the seasonings, just with some mayo drizzled on top. I was craving tater tots so this was a good choice. But if you're just looking for something more special, you can pass on this. For the main courses. The pineapple sausage had a lot of good flavor. Granted, it was a bit too oily for me, but it did its job and I enjoyed it. It had a good level of spice that I enjoyed as well. The garlic shrimp was my favorite, but I think the shrimp was a bit too salty in my opinion. If I didn't have rice, this would of been a little bit overwhelming, but the flavor profile was there and I genuinely liked it. Great place to try if you're craving some Hawaiian bites. It's a nice little place to come to in SF and I would definitely come back again. I wanna try their shaved ice next time.

Yelp
We recently visited Little Aloha because shaved ice sounds amazing! Small takeout shop selling lots of different flavors. We got the half order of garlic shrimp and pineapple sausage. Very flavorful. And we got a small bowl of shaved ice. We enjoyed outside sitting at their little bench outside. Yummy shaved ice. Definitely will return for more shaved ice in the future. Located on Taraval between 21st and 22nd Ave.

Yelp
The sauce on the garlic shrimp was delicious though maybe bordering on too salty as some others have noted. I also ordered a side of garlic butter sauce and it seemed very different- much less flavor and thinner. Not sure if it's because the shrimp sauce was cooked or some other issue but I would have loved more of what was on the shrimp to eat with my rice. My main issue with the shrimp though was that the shells were on and I get they are edible since they are fried but I found I would much prefer them to be unpeeled. This alone would make me think twice about ordering again (but the sauce was quite good so maybe I would). The pineapple sausage was pretty good and also has the garlic sauce. I would be more likely to get that again but the price seemed a bit high for the portion and if you can find pineapple sausage, I think this is an easy dish to make yourself. I love sautéed cabbage but found theirs pretty underwhelming- a bit flavorless and overcooked and was sadly disappointed by this. It's pretty much all take out with some small amounts of outdoor seating. Take your food to go and enjoy the various beautiful outdoor spots nearby!

Yelp
The food was good. The sausage was delicious and the shrimps was big and tasty. The Potato Salad was really nice creamy and soft , the Bacon was really good too. The ice is very fine and smooth. Next time I will only request a minimal amount of syrup only because it ended quite sweet. They have student specials. The service is great and they were very nice. It is a clean store. No dine in They have chairs outside if you want to eat right away..

Yelp
Small place, BIG FLAVOR!! Yet again, had a pre concert meal with my sister. The menu is limited but they all sound so delicious. We waited on a bench outside for our food and they brought it out! Very nice workers!!! We both got the full plates of our entrees and a side of tots!! We ate in the car parked around the corner enjoying our food and music :) She enjoyed her garlic shrimp, and I really liked my pineapple sausage! I could eat five pounds of it. So freaking yum..!!!!!! The garlic sauce was so yummy on the sausage, but I was not a fan of it soaked into my rice. The garlic taste was a bit overwhelming on the plain rice, and therefore I knocked a star. I felt like I could not enjoy my rice . Sorry. BUT IT WAS STILL DELICIOUS!!! and the TOTS!!!! could not get enough they were so yummy. Many Hawaiian Sun flavors, my sister went with the P.O.G. and I got Green Tea Lychee. was so good . Will be returning when I get the chance! #POGGERS #ALPHAZ #PineappleSlice #TheTasteIsReal

Yelp
I highly recommend trying this place. The shaved ice was excellent, with a good portion size and just the right amount of sweetness. The spam kimchi musubi was also good; I liked that it was portioned perfectly for me to bite into it without the ingredients falling apart. Very friendly and helpful staff. And there was seating outside (none inside).

Yelp
I saw this place a few months back and I'm finally just getting to try it. It did not disappoint! I walked in yesterday (a Wednesday) just before 5pm. In addition to the food and shave ice menu, there are Hawaiian goodies available for purchase. I picked up Hurricane Popcorn (IYKYK), Li Hing Sour Lychee, arare crackers , and butter mochi mix. FYI. This is a to-go order place only. This is not a sit down establishment. Here's what we ordered: Garlic Shrimp (full order) - Delicious! The flavor is incredible. The one drawback is the oil (perhaps from the garlic butter?) soaks up most of the rice on the bottom. Hurricane Tots (tater tots w/ spicy mayo, furikake, and arare crackers) - Solid. Did not disappoint. Tofu Poke (half order) - great vegetarian option. Good flavor. Little Aloha is in my hood. I plan to be back to try more from the menu as well as the shave ice!

Yelp
It was a hot for SF summer day and I was really craving some shave ice and lo and behold Little Aloha popped up on Yelp. Hallelujah! Unfortunately we were coming all the way from North bay from a hike and we were cutting it very close to their closing time.  The parking gods were smiling upon us and we managed to snag street parking nearby and arrived at Little Aloha just 10 minutes before closing. In spite it being so close to closing, the employee was super nice and welcoming and even accommodated some people who came even later than us! There was some cleaning being done in the back but we were able to get our shave ice fix! They really took the time to pack the ice down on our shave ice and made sure to saturate it with our topping picks. We got the half POG/half Tiger's blood combo plus snow cap (condensed milk) for the ultimate amount of Hawaii-ness in a bowl. It was super refreshing and I was a happy camper! If you're craving a bit of Hawaii in SF, Little Aloha will do the trick! It's pretty much takeout only as the store is very small but there was a bench outside where you can enjoy your shave ice. They also had some Hawaiian cookies and candies for sale which was cool to see. Will be back to try their savory dishes! Hmmm garlic shrimp!

Yelp
I really wanted to love this little place since I love Hawaiian style shave ice and really miss being in the islands, but it left me feeling a little sad. I just didn't feel any "aloha" when I was there. The woman behind the counter never smiled and seemed rather impatient with me. When I asked another customer who had just gotten her shave ice what size she got, the woman behind the counter said, "The cup sizes are here!" rather gruffly and pointed to the empty cups. Well, you can't tell how it's going to look when it's filled, so I wanted to know if it was the small or the large; the size depends on how the ice is mounded in the cup! Besides, it was between the other customer and me and we had a friendly exchange! I paid a little over $10 for my small shave ice with vanilla ice cream. It was good, but not as good as Ululani or Monsarrat in Hawaii. There were small chunks of hard ice in it and I could've used a bit more syrup as I got to the middle. Not sure I would return. I have a difficult time dealing with merchants who don't seem to want my business!

Yelp
We ordered the full shrimp plate and the loco moco. The shrimp plate was pretty small and was mainly just rice. The loco was fine but honestly was very salty. The people at the register were very sweet and it seems like a nice neighborhood place. Wanted to love this place since other reviews seemed great!

Yelp
New Hawaiian takeout spot on Taraval! They serve up Hawaiian classics like garlic shrimp, loco moco, spam musubi, shaved ice and more. They also sell some Hawaiian products like candy, butter mochi mixes, guava and other fruit jams. It's a small takeout operation where you can order on a kiosk in the front. There's some benches and chairs out front if you want to sit there and eat but there are no tables. I got the full garlic shrimp/pineapple sausage combo and got the spicy version. It is served with white rice and cabbage. I like that you have the option to pick between a half serving or a full serving. It was delicious! The spicy one had a good amount of spicy without it being overwhelming. Both the shrimp and the sausage had a lot of flavor and came with a good amount of each. Will definitely come back to try more things! It was foggy the day I went so will have to come back on a sunny day for the shaved ice

Yelp
On another hot day in the continuation of the Autumn stroll down the Sunset Strip of San Francisco there is a place on Taraval which has an Island treat which is rare to San Francisco. Little Aloha is the place to get shaved ice. The closest thing to shave ice in the past in San Francisco was a snow cone. The shave iced at Little Aloha offers many different flavors. The flavors I chose were Cherry, Lime, and Peach. The shaved ice piled high and the different flavor syrups filled each spot like a neapolitan ice cream. Each bite of the different flavors was refreshing especially on a hot Autumn San Francisco day. It was sweet but not too sweet and not too sour. The heatwave had me get a second shaved ice and this time I tried the different hybrids of flavors available at Little Aloha. The Blue Hawaiian has coconut and vanilla. I also added Tigers Blood which has coconut, strawberries, and watermelon. I just re-up on the Cherry to give it an overall tasty flavor boost .Not to be forgotten there is also a Hawaiian food menu plates like garlic shrimp , loco moco, and tofu poke. There are also ice cream available with flavors like macadamia nut, ube, and vanilla. It's a hot day in San Francisco grab a shaved iced then add syrup flavors from lime to peach Then enjoy a Autumn stroll on the San Francisco Sunset strip to Ocean Beach

Yelp
Our neighbor recommended Little Aloha as she is friends with the owner and we were so happy to try it! We got Spam Musubi along with the shrimp + sausage (not pictured because I ate it so fast) and everything was incredible! There's a small table outside but for the most part it is take out only. I can't wait to go back and would highly recommend stopping by. Bonus: great GF options as many restaurants use soy sauce with gluten in it but the options at Little Aloha are gluten free!

Stephanie

Yelp
We had to feed a group of 30 hungry cheerleaders in a last minute situation. I gave Little Aloha a call and they accepted the mission! 30 spam musubis within an hour. They even delivered to Washington High School for us! Thanks for saving the day, Little Aloha.

Yelp
4.5 STARS Garlic. Not only does it add flavor but it's good for you esp raw garlic. Except the BO. OOOOF. At least, you'll leave the public restroom and gym smelling like hot garlic fries. And, who doesn't love some garlic fries? J/k. A better way to enjoy garlic? Garlic. Butter. Shrimp. Hawaiian-style. Opening two weeks ago, Little Aloha is bringing delicious Hawaiian eats to the city. They're open for takeout and delivery (via toast) only. M E N U * Plates: Garlic shrimp, loco moco, pineapple sausage, and tofu poke. Half and full orders. * Sides: Hurricane tots, purple potato salad, and spam musubi. * Shaved Ice w/ natural syrups (not available for delivery). They also have a curated snack and candy selection from Hawaii; e.g. Li hing gummies, fruit butters, mochi mix, etc. F O O D --Food spread: https://tinyurl.com/3fvurwxn * Spicy Garlic Shrimp: 4 pc Fried shrimp w/ housemade garlic butter sauce, rice, sautéed cabbage (Half - $8.50) // 4 stars Crispy, tender shrimp (ate shells) over a bed of perfectly cooked rice that soaked up the garlicky butter goodness. I found the spicy garlic sauce too salty for my preference (mild-medium spicy) but the rice did help balance it. The sautéed cabbage added a nice freshness. Wish there was a bigger piece of lemon. * "Moco Loco": Beef patty over poached egg, rice, brown gravy, sautéed cabbage (Half-$8) // 4.5 stars Hearty and satisfying, the burger patty was thick and tender (not commercially frozen), covered in a savory, flavorful gravy. Underneath was a lush poached egg with a runny yolk. The green onions + cabbage helped cut the richness. * Purple Potato Salad: Hawaiian Purple Potatoes w/ eggs, bacon, chives, mayo ($7) // 4.5 stars Great twist on classic side, the purple potato salad was colorful and tasty. The sweetness from the Okinawan (?) potatoes paired great with the smoky, salty bacon. The potatoes were on the firmer side but I like that it wasn't overly mayo-ey. S E R V I C E I ordered online for takeout and my friend helped pick it up. Food was ready in 15 minutes as quoted. A M B I A N C E Takeout only shop (formerly Strada Pizza). I ate it at home but highly recommend bringing your takeout across the street at McCoppin Square Park to enjoy. Tip: There's a tiny, secluded picnic area directly across from the popo station. P A R K I N G Meter and residential parking. Overall, Little Aloha is a great addition to the city. The food is a cut above the current Hawaiian grub in the city. Will need to return for their shaved ice when the suns out!

Yelp
This place is absolutely adorable! They have some great Hawaiian classics on their menu, as well as Hawaiian snacks! So far, I've only tried the tofu poke and the hurricane tots. However, I would really like to try their shave ice in the future because it sounds and looks so good. The tofu poke is amazing. I love the crispy onions and the seaweed salad together with the flavourful tofu and the rice. It's seriously the perfect meal. I'm really glad that it's tofu because I'm vegetarian I think this is probably the closest thing I'll ever get to real poke. The hurricane tots are so flavourful. It comes with rice crackers, and together with the tots, it's perfect. I like to get it with spicy mayo. I really like how they put a lot of mayo so that every tot has some mayo on it. The service is also great! The people who work there are so kind and I can tell that they love their job. This has definitely become one of my go-to spots.

Yelp
Anything that reminds me of Hawaii will catch my attention. Hawaiian food in the Sunset? Count me in. While running an errand, this was on my road home and I was fortunate to find a metered space around the corner; neighborhood locals know too well how the parking on Taraval has become a nightmare. After walking around the corner, I peeked in and there was no one there besides the cashier around 4:30 pm. After studying the window menu, I placed my order. The thoughtful cashier asked me whether I wanted the food first or the shave ice. Knowing that it take a little while and being thirsty, I started with my pineapple, cherry, and lilikoi shave ice, small (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=8jta-v1jQ8bbJyJGtayyZQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) and waited outside for the rest of my food. I enjoyed the bowl as was not powder ice but more like tiny bits. I probably should have picked my flavors more judiciously as the cherry flavor dominated the other two so those were only faintly present. After a short wait and as several customers started streaming in, the cashier waved me down through the window and I picked up my remaining food. A couple hours later, I finally sat down to enjoy my dinner. I started with the spam musubi (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=pvhsDH6H6M1l62jpEwcaiQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) (spam, sweet soy glaze, seasoned rice, seaweed). I was impressed by this visually, seeing the spam says grilled. My mouth was equally impressed as, dare I say, it was one of the tastiest musubis I've had. I will be having this again. I also got theMoco Loco, full (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=NTIbBMgcXlMT23MPferTEg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q), described as ground beef patties over poached eggs, rice, brown gravy , sauteed cabbage. This is a hearty portion of food as the musubi and half of this order was plenty for dinner. I loved that the runny egg (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=YvVHWBl3huyXNKEHsQj0qg&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) was poached as the gravy, more of a demi-glace was rich enough. The burger patty was hearty while the cabbage which tasted slightly pickled added a crunch and flavor contrast to the rest of the plate. I reheated the other half for another dinner. Besides their food offerings, there is a variety of Hawaiian snacks items and doors for sale on shelves.p Big thanks to Winchell for making my meal run seamless, especially in asking me whether I wanted my shave ice first. I look forward to trying the shrimp plate next time. Which means another shave ice and musubi are likely.

Yelp
Garlic shrimp - got it spicy and it was so good. Very flavorful. Full order came with 8 pieces. Moco loco - a disappointing hard beef patty. Shrimp + sausage half order - good portion for a single person.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this little gem and, thanks to Yelp, decided to give it a try. The menu featured some enticing choices, so I went with the spam musubi, loco moco, and garlic shrimp. Each dish was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were spot on. The prices are fair, making it a great value for the quality. One thing to note is that there's only street parking available, so plan accordingly. Overall, a delightful find that I'll definitely be revisiting!

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday, and I got some moco loco's to go (it's still weird that it's not called loco moco here), spam musubi, and a shave ice. For my shave ice, I got watermelon, lychee, and mango. These tasted pretty artificial, and the ice was packed a little too tight. I wasn't a big fan of the shave ice. The original moco loco was pretty good, but I didn't care too much for the special moco loco of the day, which was curry. I was expecting a Japanese curry, but it was more like a Thai curry. I'm not a big fan of coconut, so I didn't care for it. The spam was a little too burnt for me in the musubi, but the kimchi version was better than the original version. The workers here are really nice, though.

Yelp
Good price for the food! I enjoy the shrimp and pineapple dishes and the beef patty a lot. Wish curry is more available and there are more varieties! Overall great service and taste!

Yelp
A new place to the area and it's been quite warm so we went here to try out the shave ice! I guess we came on an off day bc the order kiosk wasn't working, they were short staffed and they were running out of food (they ran out of rice!) The shave ice had a good consistency but the flavors were muddled. (POG flavor) I would want to come back to try the food but be prepared to wait a while. Seems like they still need to work out the kinks. 3 stars!

Yelp
Little Aloha packed large flavor. This was a really solid Hawaiian meal. Take it from me, a guy who has been to Hawaii a lot (small flex). As far as Hawaiian food in San Francisco is concerned, I doubt you will find much better. I thought the prices were fair for all things. I would say I felt robbed by the fact that the full order was mostly cabbage and rice and not very much protein. The shrimp and sausage was really good so I needed much more. I like the white rice touch but the cabbage didn't make sense. I think that needs to be Mac salad. They also don't have like extra sides of sauce readily available. With as much rice and cabbage as you get you need something to wet that up you know? The tots were unique. A special tot dish. The shave ice was remarkable. Up to 3 flavors?! I mean can't imagine you can find better shave ice in the city. Little Aloha, with some large flavor. Good work guys. (4.4 Stars)

Yelp
We had a big 20th anniversary celebration for our preschool a few weeks ago. Little Aloha was our caterer for shave ice. It was a big hit with our families! The texture, flavors and sizes were perfect. There was enough options and choices to have a good variety for our guests. Their service was good and accommodating. It was smooth communication with Terry to plan and schedule them for our event. Side note: On a separate occasion, we ordered food to go and it all was loaded with flavor. We especially enjoyed their spam musubi!

Yelp
4.5 stars rounded up. Little Aloha, massive flavors! Out of their tiny storefront with no seating, Little Aloha serves Hawaiian food that makes me miss the North Shore a little less. There's a limited window of opportunity during the week to try out their offerings; their temporary hours are Thursday, Friday, & Saturday from 11am-7pm. Delivery is available via Toast. We braved the construction on Taraval & picked up a variety of items: -- full orders of spicy garlic shrimp & original garlic shrimp ($16 each): bf approved! Shrimp are shell-on but split down the middle so all that good garlic butter sauce gets all over. Plates are served with white rice & sautéed cabbage (any chance of seeing mac salad as an option in the future? Pretty please?!) -- full order of pineapple sausage ($15): juicy inside (there's actual pineapple in there!) with a satisfying snap outside. -- half order of "moco loco" ($8 for 1 ground beef patty.) Thick gravy with a hearty, beefy flavor. Patty is cooked well done, which I like, but could have been a little more tender. Still, great flavor. -- purple potato salad ($7): the only item I wouldn't order again. Will try the Hurricane Tots next time. Grab a Hawaiian Sun & some packaged snacks (i.e. li hing gummy bears & mac nut shortbread cookies), & a shave ice if you're not traveling far to eat. Mahalo for the ono meal & friendly service, Little Aloha. See you on Thursday!

Yelp
They tasted farm raised.

Yelp
Great takeout food! I liked the original flavoring for the garlic shrimp and pineapple sausage. I also loved the hurricane tots and the rice crackers were an addition to the dish. The shaved ice was such a nice treat too! I loved the ambiance of the Hawaiian music and painted mural to look at while waiting for my food.

Yelp
Check out this spot the next time you're craving Hawaiian food in SF. I ordered online for pickup to save time. I got the half order of both the original and spicy garlic shrimp. The spicy garlic shrimp had a small kick to it, and I enjoyed it more than the original. However, I would stick to the original flavor if you can't handle spicy. The garlic sauce was a little too salty for me. My favorite was the hurricane tots. It was a unique pairing to have the furikake seasoning and rice crackers on top of tater tots. The spam musubi was average and nothing special. To finish off the meal we ordered some shave ice. The shave ice was super soft and reminded me of the ones in Hawaii. Overall, this small shop offers a good variety of Hawaiian dishes for takeout only. The staff were friendly and I also like how this place sells Hawaiian snacks and candies.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times now and this place is great! First time I got the mango shaved ice with ube ice cream and adzuki beans. On my second trip I got ube ice cream with the POG (passion fruit/orange/guava) which was even better than the mango. I tried their hurricane tater tots as well, which were also great. Looking forward to trying more of their menu!

Yelp
SO happy there's a new shaved ice + Hawaiian food spot in the neighborhood!! We got lychee, lilikoi and watermelon with snow cap. It was sooo good! The flavors were refreshing and we added their house made Ube ice cream. We also got their garlic shrimp and it was amazing! Love that they sell living candy and other local Hawaiian goodies at amazing prices. Can't wait to come back and try all the other dishes! The service was amazing and I appreciate how friendly they were :)

Yelp
Great new place on Taraval! Customer service is awesome and the food is sooo good. The tofu poke is to die for and I don't like tofu. Please support this new local business.

Yelp
Local fave and Best Hawaiian food and snacks in SF! So lucky to have this place around the block. Spam musubi, the loco moco, and spicy garlic sausage, with the best shaved ice in the city. Great people run the shop, and keep the best Hawaiian sweets and treats stocked. Glad to have this little slice of heaven in the neighborhood!

Yelp
I got my food for pick up, but everything was ready to go and my food was still hot even after coming a little late. They also made sure that I had everything I needed while attending to other customers. Definitely a gran n go spot. Really small building but it was still cool and very bright and welcoming. Food was also good I got the tots and it didn't disappoint.

Yelp
I love supporting small businesses, but I was taken back by how rude the woman was. I called to put in an order, and she was very irritated that I called to put in an order, versus online. In fact, she said "you know, you can also put this order in online. But this time, I'll put this order in for you." She was on speaker, and we all had the same reaction. When I picked up my order, she was there and I realize this is just how she talks to everyone. There's no "aloha" spirit. The food was okay. The spam masubi was good, with the spam being a little burnt--but maybe that's how it's suppose to be. The Loco Moco was good to me, but my husband said it was a 5/10. He's from Hawaii.

Yelp
The food was good but just a little underwhelming if I'm being honest. There wasn't as much complexity of flavors as I was expecting, especially with the hurrican tots. The price point was definitely on the higher end and for smaller portions than regular plate lunches as the "full size" was like a 9x4 clamshell as opposed to a square 8" or 9" clamshell. I don't think I'd consider the amount and quality of food you receive to be worth the valued price. The dishes I ordered were all kind of one-noted to me BUT luckily I enjoy the flavor regardless because they are traditional in a sense and simple. The Hurrican Tots could use an Unagi sauce or Teri sauce drizzle, the potato salad was pretty bland as in just potato and some mayo did not pick up on any other seasoning, and the plate was garlicky as expected. The cashier was nice and quick when I picked up my order and the place was packed with people and lively so they definitely have found their clientele! Also be prepared to find street parking in this very busy area and/or park on the street and run in and out lol. All in all I would probably eat here again if I was being treated but not if I was paying. It's probably a great plate lunch spot for it's area but below par in comparison to real deal Hawai'i plate lunch spots.

Yelp
I love their garlic shrimp and curries. Very yummy and will go back. The workers were also very friendly and helpful in deciding what to order. I forgot to take a picture.

Yelp
For ages I wondered why all the different Hawaiian bbq places for some reason don't make traditional Hawaiian garlic shrimp like they do in Hawaii. I tried out Little Aloha this weekend with some friends and we all thought it was good. The spicy garlic shrimp was very garlicky and a bit salty from it so make sure to eat with rice! The moco loco was ok. The gravy looked sort of like bbq color but it was definitely gravy. The patties could have been a bit bigger and not cooked so well done. My friend liked his tofu poke and also bought some Hawaiian popcorn bags to take home.

Yelp
Probably my comfort place. Atmosphere is always so nice and the workers are always so kind and fun to interact with. Food is always good and fresh, you can see them making it! I recommend for anyone who wants to grab a quick bite or needs a fast pickup, they are extremely fast with cooking and service.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoy and crave this places food often. I've been four times now, and each time the spicy pineapple sausage really does the trick for me. I used to get the shrimp, but I'm honestly not one to want to take off the shell (especially with how messy the sauce is) so I completely stopped getting the shrimp all together. Not worth the work. My few critiques include the odd side cabbage. It's very simply boiled and cut up, and really serves no purpose. It feels clear that they're trying to cut down on costs with that, but it adds nothing to the dish. A half Mac salad half cabbage would be much more appealing. In addition, I feel like there's never enough sausage for a whooping 16$ price tag. I should ideally be getting a larger portion for that cost. If little aloha were to up the anti on the sides and expand their portions just a bit, this place would be a 5/5 for me every time. Still extremely delicious, so very worth the try if you're reading this review and feel led a little askew. Just go! It's fantastic :)

Yelp
Ordered pick up Friday night. A full size spicy shrimp and pineapple sausage plate and a small moco loco. 4 shrimp and 6 pieces of sausage seem expensive for a $16 plate. But overall it tasted good, not too spicy. The moco loco was ok, homemade small burger patty with a poached egg and a dark brown sauce. While paying I asked about their other items--spam masubi and ice cream --but felt like I was rushed to pay and leave. No comments or recommendations to try other food items. Which was weird because I was the only customer in there and they weren't closing. Cashier seemed inattentive, distracted or probably didn't know how to use their pos system.

Yelp
Walked into Little Aloha to a guy looking at me at the register. I looked around and wasn't sure where to go to order. The kiosk on the left? Or the guy at the register? The guy at the register did not acknowledge me and was talking to a friend. To the kiosk I go... I ordered the Shave Ice and a spam misubi. The shave ice was good. The spam misubi is as good as the neighboring restaurants. Little Aloha matches the name. Food that reminds you of the selection from Hawaii, but definitely not the hospitality.
