"Evergreen is the last stop before coming down the mountain and The Little Bear Saloon should be your destination after a day on the slopes. Not for the cuisine, though the wings and bison burgers are winners, but for the atmosphere. This spot is a perfect blend of dive bar meets Old West saloon, with swinging bar doors, brass cash registers and walls covered with license plates and band memorabilia." - Rebecca Treon

Google
Nice dive bar in a small little town in the mountains for a quick bite and a nice drink! It’s a staple here in Evergreen! They have a bunch of license plates on the wall and I believe all they are missing is Rhode Island plates, Check it out!

Google
Any time its open its a fun place to visit... But when theres live music, get there early to find a seat or a table. Its all about the atmosphere, great live music, with a well worn lived-in rustic charm that attacts all walks of life. Theres even space to dance. Families, yes, bikers, yes, after work business, yes. Its THE local haunt for all that come by

Really fun to see all the music artists who have visited over this properties long history! Met the owner Patrick, very warm and inviting staff. Super rustic classic Colorado Mountain vibe.... can't go wrong with that. :) Pizza was really good and so was the Ceasars salad! Would recommend.

5 stars – Where the Wild West Meets Your Favorite Dive Bar Fantasy Y’all. The Little Bear in Evergreen is everything your soul didn’t know it needed. Imagine a honky-tonk saloon married a rock dive bar, had a baby, and raised it inside an Old West movie set. That’s this place. First of all — there’s a TELEPHONE BOOTH inside. Like, an honest-to-goodness time machine straight out of the ‘80s. I half expected Superman or Bill & Ted to bust out mid-guitar solo. I hadn’t seen one since I had a perm and shoulder pads. We posted up with a tall drink (because apparently they pour them like you just broke up with someone), and the service? Stellar. Our server moved like she’d been wrangling wild cowboys and wild orders for decades — zero nonsense, all smiles. But the real highlight? Dana. A local legend. We met her in the parking lot and she sent us to the bar, and by the time the second fiddle solo kicked in, I was ready to invite her to Thanksgiving. Sweet, sassy, full of stories — we had so much in common, I checked my family tree just in case. Then came the music. I’m talking folk rock with a violin that made me feel like I’d been transported back home to Virginia — front porch jam session vibes but with a little whiskey-fueled edge. There was foot-stompin’, head-bobbin’, and a little questionable two-steppin’ (by yours truly). The Little Bear isn’t just a bar — it’s a vibe, a mood, a lifestyle. Come for the drinks, stay for the phone booth, leave with a new friend named Dana and a song in your heart.

Google
Cool spot to grab drinks if you’re in the Evergreen area. Great service as well.

Google
Great hole in the wall small town bar with great service and good food! And found half the family's name already carved into stuff. 😆

Brandon Graham

Google
Good service. Beer took 10 minutes for a keg change but the server was really sweet and it’s a fun historic vibe. We will be back whenever we’re in town.

Yelp
I work down the road, and was exhausted after a long day. I was driving through Evergreen and heard music coming from downtown, so I had to stop in! This place rocks. Great live music, and the bartender gave me a free coke as I'm not a big drinker. Amazing time and I'll be back!

Yelp
I had my bachelorette weekend up in Evergreen, and after plans of going out to Denver fell through, Evergreen bars were the only option. My girls and I had thrifted wedding dresses to go out in. The first bar we went to was very awkward and not lively, but as soon as we stepped into Little Bear the love band brought us on stage, the bartenders were so fun and talkative and the owner went out of his way to congratulate me on my upcoming wedding. Despite being nervous on the atmosphere of a mountain town bar, I had one of the most fun nights. We made some amazing memories and the live band was amazing. I felt so very celebrated by the staff and danced the night away. Would 100% recommend this bar for a fun night out!

Sara B.

Yelp
I have been to the Little Bear a few times now and it is always such a fun time! A historic building with a lot of history, owners and staff always make you feel at home. The live shows are amazing. The venue offers an up close and personal feel to the performers. If you haven't seen live music here, I highly recommend following their upcoming events and just go! You won't regret it.

Laura C.

Yelp
New owners have a made a big difference. New chairs that don't fall apart, both stalls now work in the ladies room downstairs, and everything feels much cleaner. Had a burger and fries last weekend and both were great, would definitely order again. Nachos were meh and won't be trying them again. I'd love to see more variety in food moving forward.

Dave R.

Yelp
A great institution in the foothills of Evergreen. Great straight ahead Rock N Roll Bands...Older Crowd, but certainly a fun time. Menu leaves something to be desired, but the beer selection is solid and that makes most of us happy!!

Douglas F.

Yelp
Fun town and fun location. Stop in for some drinks with friends and some live music. Great local spot, so come over and enjoy an afternoon or evening with friends.

Ellie W.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, but it was not clean. It has a urine smell as soon as you walk in the door. Was not impressed with my food at all. I ordered their signature Buffalo burger - I took a bite and was done. It had a very "off" taste that I couldn't get with. I was not the only one at the table that felt this way. Our server was super nice and friendly. Very odd bathrooms, I would not return.

Lorraine E.

Yelp
The trouble with trouble is it always starts out as fun! Especially at the Little Bear!

James G.

Yelp
Worst meal I've had in years. Looks like a good place for drinks. French fries were distinguishing. "The oil needs to be replaced." I regret going here on my day off. The grilled chicken sandwich was tasteless. Only went there because the construction would not allow me to go somewhere else. This place needs to be closed and rebuilt. The seats were VERY uncomfortable. A complete waste of my money. AVOID!!!!!!!!!

Chuck M.

Yelp
Great little venue in the beautiful town of Evergreen, CO. This bar/restaurant is a cross between a biker bar and an old western saloon. The bar is covered with license plates from across the country and has bras hanging from the ceiling. They feature live music most days of the week which we found really entertaining. We went there for the opening day of the season, they hadn't been open for almost a year since COVID. Despite how busy the restaurant was and the few wait staff that were available they had great customer service. The menu is moderate, don't expect any gourmet meals here, it's a burger and taco joint. Both the drinks and the food were good. Perfect refreshments for an afternoon ride on the Harley. The great thing is this establishment is only an hour outside of Denver so you can be up there in no time and the scenery on the way is absolutely stunning. If you drive slow and take your time you're likely to see plenty of milk and mule deer. If you check out their webpage you can get an idea of what entertainment they have on what days. And if you have out-of-town family or friends this will definitely be a great place to take them for lunch or dinner to give them that feel of old Colorado!

Sarah S.

Yelp
I went here on a Saturday night while visiting Colorado on vacation. I wanted to give this venue 5 stars, because everything was pretty great about this place until I ordered drinks from the bar. I ordered a Coors Lite and first was charged $3 for a bottle, then the second time I went up, it was like the bartender didn't even know how much they charged because the 2nd time he charged me $4 for the same thing. Besides the confused bartender, the food was pretty good and our server for dinner was good. They had live music and the band that played had a good variety of music. Definitely a fun place to go hang out! The venue has multiple levels of seating and a pool table on the top floor.

Jason K.

Yelp
Come on man. I asked the door man Dan if we could com in for 1 drink. Noooope 6 dollar cover charge for each of us. Then a 40.00 tab. Never once listened to live music. Sharon at the bar tried to smooth things over and she was awesome. But paying 24.00 to come into a bar and pay to drink at the same place? It's a colorado institution but just understand Customer service. Because of Dan.....we wont be back

Annette R.

Yelp
This place is so much fun! They hire great bands from different genres and there are a million things to look at - photos of famous musicians and visitors, graffiti, bras from groupies... It's a MUST if you're in the area (Google its history while you're at it). ***Upstairs is the best vantage point to watch the bands, even though you have to get your own drinks and food from downstairs. They've spent a pretty penny on the sound system, which makes for an even better experience. I like their cheeseburgers and quesadillas. I'm guessing daylight would expose a litany of cobwebs and worse, but there's a lot to be said about temporarily forgetting about the stresses of life at a legendary dive.

Alexandra G.

Yelp
Stopped by the little bear after a hike and it was a great place to relax after being active all morning. I really liked the saloon atmosphere of the bar and there happened to be live music playing which was a nice treat. The food is okay but expected for a dive bar but I will say that the beer selection wasn't great at all - there wasn't much to choose from and three of the taps had been recently kicked which kind of sucked. Regardless, it was a fun time and definitely a place you'd go for the experience rather than the food and drinks.

Sunday T.

Yelp
Walked right in, and was immediately seated. Great atmosphere, great service and the food was delicious. Will definitely come back here!

Lissa B.

Yelp
A true cowboy saloon in the Mid-West. The Little Bear is an institution and clearly the stomping ground of cowboys for generations. The inside is a dive, somewhat dreary, and questionably clean. It's an experience with unfriendly service but decent burgers. Come check it out if in the area and go back into American history!

Alice Q.

Yelp
Burgers, beer, and live music! A best three combo of adult joy on a Friday night. Friendly service and interesting vibe, you can find some funny signs outside of this saloon. This building from the 1880s has seen lots of uses, but the latest incarnation is a jewel called Little Bear. The staff are friendly and the service is fast. Live music most nights, pool upstairs, and some of the best burgers I've ever had! The pizza we had was so-so.... Maybe a bad night. When in Evergreen, stop in and take a break in a cozy, relaxing place.

Jon B.

Yelp
This place used to be great. Nothing I love more than a classic dive bar with music. We came today and it felt like it was an abandoned crack house. No service, no music, nothing. What a joke!

Mark V.

Yelp
This place is the biggest shithole in Evergreen and probably Colorado. We live in Evergreen and have been coming here for years - mainly for the live music. Today was the last straw. Found a bug in my wife's drink, probably from the ice. If you do visit. Drink bottled beer and don't eat here. So sad. The owner is an idiot as she has a gold mine but wants to suck the town dry.

Kristen N.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Consistent live music. The price is right for drinks and food. Good beer and fries. Fun local place to hang for a fun afternoon or wild night!

K F.

Yelp
100 out of 100 on the cleanliness health score. has the person in charge of this score been in the Little Bear? 25/100 would be generous.

Eric C.

Yelp
Service is poor. Smells like urine. Food is subpar. At one time this place was ok. Now they act like they are the only game in town. It's a cool building. Don't expect anything else. Hopefully someone else takes this place over soon!!!!

Kathleen C.

Yelp
Major Dive bar. Plastic cups, foam plates. Bras hanging over the stage. (Classy with a K) if you don't mind the gouging on the tables and writing on the walls or sticking to the floor it's your place. It's a complete pit.

Don G.

Yelp
Came up on a Friday night for live music. Music was live but slow jazz. Wanted to fall asleep!! Would have been great during the week but on the weekend some upbeat alcohol drinking Rock & Roll or Country would have have kept our group there!

Brian R.

Yelp
I have been to Little Bear several times to see bands. Having played in the Denver area for quite some time myself, I know a lot of these guys and like to support them. Little Bear has always been pretty much a cluster .... Horrible layout for bands, heavy covers (hope they share that with the bands), minimal seating, mediocre food (not bad though), light pours and horrible service. The good ... well, their drink prices are cheap. But you might as well order them two at a time since they will be weak and it will take forever to get another. Last Saturday I think was my last visit. I'm done. Typical lack of service. Go to bar to order food. Wait at bar for 5 minutes just to get a drink while the bartenders goof around with each other behind the bar. But I was there for the band. And they couldn't even get that right. Band had two guitarists. Bar has a house PA run by their own guy. All flippin' night couldn't hear the guitarist on the right and the guy on the left was too loud. And I know these guys well. They weren't touching their amps. Talked to them more than once so I know they talked to the sound guy. Stupid meter watcher wouldn't leave his "booth" for 3 minutes and listen with his ears. And I doubt it was a technical thing because the louder of the two was coming out both channels. Definitely not a channel thing. But, whatever, Little Bear will do just fine. They'll float long on the business from people who see some sort of appeal in this place. What they lose is someone like me who not only spends good money himself, but who brings people along and who people listen to for band recommendations. Whatever. It's Evergreen. What do you expect?

Robin B.

Yelp
Good to know the Little Bear hasn't changed in years, except for more graffiti and things carved into the bar, the table tops, the barstools, the walls... you get the picture. Went up the hill to see The Substitutes (a The Who cover band) perform the entire Tommy album. These guys knocked it out of the park. A rollicking good time was had by all. Not bad for a $6 cover. I would check the website or call to check on the cover, as it varies from $0-$15. Note to friends, stick with the burgers... the pizza was no bueno, but one doesn't really go to the Little Bear for the food.

Matt M.

Yelp
This place is just gross. It must've built its reputation by hosting popular bands and by patrons loading up on bad beer to the point that they don't mind the abject filth and terrible food. I have no idea why this place is popular. I'm a local of 7+ years and have never understood the appeal. I've been to the Little Bear a couple of times but the service is arrogant and distracted, the taps are surely the lamest in Colorado, the food is barely palatable and the kitchen should be condemned by the health department. I hate to throw shade on a local but the Little Bear is just epically (EPICALLY) bad. I would only go back after the place is scraped by a bulldozer.

Chris W.

Yelp
I'm a proud Colorado Native & I remember coming up to the Little Bear years ago in my younger days....Little Bear was the place to be! We now live in Evergreen & thought we would stop in for lunch, It hasn't changed a bit in all these years except they must of run out of room to carve your name or graffiti in any & all conceivable locations in the bar now with defaced fun dollar bills! We ordered the "Tourist" burger for lunch which were huge, cooked to perfection & delicious! Little Bear is the perfect mountain town bar\grill to visit if you're passing through Evergreen to see a little bit of Colorado history & enjoy seeing all the pictures of Stars who have played there & for the Coloradan's who haven't been here in a while it's worth the trip to walk down memory lane or make new memories you'll never forget, like we did.

Denver C.

Yelp
Not the cleanest place but it sure was a fun place. We visited on a Saturday night and they had two bands. Tried some appetizers which were good. We drank pitchers of beer which weren't that cold at all, but its a good place to party a bit with friends.

P M.

Yelp
Service was terrible. They were not that busy. Had to get out own beer and had to track down the waitress more than once to take our food order. Food is mediocre, bar food for sure, but I've had better bar food. If you're looking to just chill, the music is good. Live bands.

Robin W.

Yelp
Monica gave chips and salsa to the couple next to us. When we asked for the same, she rudely told us we ruined the entire bar and MADE a poor server bring it. Monica's an effin beeyotch and should NOT be a manager of this place which was once known as a great place to visit. Expensive bar food too. We are customers and Monica does NOT believe in customer service! Oh and whomever replied calling us idiots...same good old fashioned customer service

Mary S.

Yelp
Didn't care for this place... dirty and odd. Reminds me of a bar I'd sneak into as a kid. Yuck

Stephen M.

Yelp
I like the food however, this place is very chaotic waitresses are no where to be found and when you do catch one they are so stressed out how could the customers actually come. Not one time were our drinks refilled or asked how we were doing. When I paid I was told I could NOT have a receipt... like so how do I know what I was being charged and for what......... very unprofessional if you ask me. I will not be returning to this location and I advice all my friends to stay away and check out another place I promise you will be disappointed!

Edward J.

Yelp
This place is supposedly a legendary hangout from the old days but when I went in there it was a bunch of 50 somethings doing the equivalent of Showtime Softcore strip teases to one another to the a soundtrack written by Digital Underground (humpty dance). The quesadillas were soggy and the chicken wings are grossly over priced but they compliment the 7 dollar Coors drafts and the snotty bartender perfectly. Save your viagra for the bar down the street called cactus jacks, I hear that's where the loose women go

Jerry R.

Yelp
It is a really neat old bar , the beer was cold , the ca worked , and the burger was really good ,

Bethany J.

Yelp
I went to Little Bear are a hike. The wings were delicious, the beer cold and there was live music. Had a blast and will be back! Also, anyone from Northwest Iowa will have fun looking at all the road signs :)

Joel S.

Yelp
This is the best I've seen in god knows how long. Will be coming back for sure. The bartender was so kind even during the day. Im so happy i found it. Must see and spend some time

Malarie B.

Yelp
Service was not good. Food was eh, fries were cold. Had to ask for a server a few times and then when we finally got one she was rude and angry. We also had to ask for our check 3 times. It seems like it could be a fun dive bar/restaurant but I wouldn't go back.

Meredith G.

Yelp
This review may have gotten 4 stars if the fries lived up to their name- crispy fries. They were soggy. But the burger was 4 star. I enjoyed the patty melt burger that came on thick rye bread that didn't fall apart and had tons of awesome sauteed onions and Swiss cheese. I would go back for the burger if I were in the area. FYI- if you don't like country music, like myself, this might not be your seen. AND if you don't like seeing or HEARING kids in a bar, then this is definitely not your scene either.

Peter M.

Yelp
Huh. How have I not reviewed the Little Bear? I celebrated by 21st birthday there back in the 90's. This place, much to my chagrin, often has a cover charge to support the multitude of bands that come through an play this utterly unique Colorado venue. On the plus side, the cover is usually only like $6 bucks, so no big deal. The building itself is old, and built log cabin style. The stage is the dominant feature, and almost all of the tables are situated around it. There is also balcony seating, if you call it that, on the upstairs level. Very fun place, though bring wet-naps if you are OCD, as there is a slight stickiness to everything here...

Sandy P.

Yelp
Well, this was an experience. The walls and ceilings are completely covered with dollar bills, stickers, etc. It ain't pretty, but it's not supposed to be. Our server was great. The menu is bar food, which makes sense. I had a quesadilla, which was good and a very generous portion. There was a loud, not very good band playing. The worst part is the bathroom. Took a long time to figure out where the ladies room door was, since the walls and both bathroom doors are covered w junk. There are two stalls, one door has to be forced open and neither locks. The wall separating the stalls is very low so you can see your neighbor. You have to laugh, otherwise it's just gross.

Lynn B.

Yelp
Told some friends from Iowa to meet outside the little bear and we could walk to some other area restaurants, but they beat us there and were already at a table.... so we stayed. They were out of several items, (before noon on a Monday, so probably ran out over the weekend), all ended up with burgers. OK... expensive for a burger. Smashburger, 5 guys, and a few others are much better. But at least they can head back to the midwest saying they had been to the Little Bear Saloon in the Colorado Mountains. The waiter .... Owner/manager?.... was friendly and put up with my joking, having everyone order what he said they were out of.... ; )

Brad G.

Yelp
This is a GREAT "old BAR"... It has a bar feel, bar personalities and yes, BAR FOOD! There are bras hanging from the ceiling and wood carved initials and offensive words all over the place. ITS A BAR!! If you are offended at a bar setting or that you get even moderate service at A BAR, you might want to avoid this spot. Now, if you want all the eccentric ideals and feels of an old, mountain bar, with all of the bar attachments, then this is your place. There are drunk people, dancing people and loud boisterous people. PERFECT setting for a music BAR! The acoustics here are great and the pew seating in the rafters is a GREAT experience, in the stage area, you cant get a bad seat. The people we met in the 2 nights we went see Eric Tessmer were great. Very approachable and fun...Yes, even the boisterous drunks were fun....But we aren't easily offended people... Especially in a bar... We drove for 3 hours one way to see a musician at this place, got a hotel one night and an airbnb the next. We read the reviews of the place and were a little concerned. After going and spending 2 late nights, closing the bar, we realized that the people posting negative reviews about this establishment are probably far too "fancy" for such a colorful, diverse and FUN crowd. So, if you are easily offended by colorful people, crappy service and mediocre bar food, don't go here...Its not your place! If you are a music lover, a history lover, a person who appreciates the "divey-ness" of old Mountain bars and appreciate people who cut loose and have fun, you surely don't want to miss this spot. Be prepared to order your own drinks at the bar, wait for your munchies and be exposed to some fun, with the colorful people there. And if you like music, you will really appreciate the sounds in here. We WILL be back!!

Krista M.

Yelp
I would really like to like this place because the have live music that's somewhat decent from time to time but the place is so disgustingly filthy. I always feel like I'm going to get MRSA. I don't understand how it possibly passes inspections.

Ken S.

Yelp
Place is okay. Come here for the ambiance and friendly people, which is great, but not much else to write home about. Beer is good, burgers are okay, and the music is usually pretty great. The only real problem with the place is that it's filthy.

Kendra M.

Yelp
Low lit biker dive bar is well mentioned whenever mountain road trips come to conversation. Seated at a booth, I entertained myself with all the carving done by pen or by pocket knife. There's advertising for live music on different nights of the week. This is an excellent stop when visiting this neck of the wilderness. What to order? Burger boy, get me a burger. My buffalo burger was quite tasty and the fries delish. Wash it down with a beer and you have yourself a well rounded meal.

Hollie C.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for lunch. I ordered the hot wings. While I was eating, I took a bite and they were not even cooked all the way! I bit into 3 of the wings and I immediately spit them out. BLOODY. I pray I don't get salmonella. I would not recommend this place to eat at all. Drinks are good but that's about it.

Chuck S.

Yelp
Servers? We don't need no stinkin' servers. Yet it looks like at least 2 people have that job. Very enjoyable old rock music. Very cool atmosphere. Would bring out of town guests for rustic mountain atmosphere. Did not like that there is a cover charge to get in to see bands.

Max M.

Yelp
Baeh. That would summarize the food. Bar looks unique. Looks like a good beer selection.

Jodie R.

Yelp
I don't even know how to rate this bar. It's a local favorite. So it's got that going for it. The bar is strewn with woman's bras and all sorts of wild memorabilia on the walls. It's small and dirty and just your typical small mountain local bar. You come for the company and music. Not the food or ambiance. On a good night this place can be packed. With people dancing and getting all sorts of inappropriate on the dance floor. The bands change all the time and they always include all types of music genres. The typical band is usually a known local band, but sometimes they have some bigger names come in. It's the sort of place you enjoy while your there but feel the need to shower immediately after you leave. With lots of soap. Maybe even bleach. (Depends on the night. Who knows.) People rave about the burgers but I prefer to steer clear of the food at all costs.
