Little Bear Wine Bar

Amazing experience in this new Vietnamese contemporary restaurant. All dishes were excellent and tasty, especially prawns and shrimp tartare. The staff was friendly and helpful and solved any translation doubts we faced. We really recommend this place and would love to come back one day.

Personally I think the biggest issue is the menu design and recipe. I can see the kitchen staff putting in 100% effort trying to deliver good food, the cooking is on point, but the flavor is just ordinary at best, especially for Asian pallet. We ordered some of their cuisine from the set menu and also from the daily special: Shrimp Tartare: ingredient is solid, a big chunk of shrimp sashimi, great texture, but flavor is bland. Fried Oyster: Also great quality oyster and fried to perfection, but the sauce tastes like mayo mixed with pickles, nothing wrong, I just wish the flavor can be stronger. Beef Skewer: this is from the daily special, the menu description says salted egg yolk sauce and some chilli I don't remember, but end up just grilled beef (again perfectly cooked) with garlic, can't taste any salted egg yolk. Grilled Red Snapper Head: also from daily special menu, they grilled the fish head then cook in the pot for quite some time, the fish is fresh and good quality but taste like very mild tom yum… Grilled river prawn: to be honest, any Thailand night market can bring out the same stuff, and the sauce doesn't really compliment the prawns. The kitchen staff obviously can cook but the menu and recipe failed them, yes taste is subjective but with multiple reviews saying similar things, a good chef will take heart towards the reviews that people take time and effort to write.

Its thanksgiving today and we took part in the 1st birthday dinner of little bear. We are thankful to have such a wonderful restaurant in our neighborhood. It is our go to for great wine, great food, and great ambiance. The staff always makes us feel right at home. Photos are from their birthday dinner menu.

What a place! We found this place during our 3 night stay in Ho Chi Minh and decided to go for our anniversary meal and it was certainly one to remember. The service, the food, the wine, the establishment was nothing short of perfect. The prawn tartrate was the freshest and butteriest piece of seafood I’ve ever tried! They even gave us a little anniversary card 🥹 I would recommend to anyone visiting Saigon to try this place - it would fly even in the London food scene. Thank you Little Bear 🐻 ♥️

Spectacular dining outside, by the stars on a warm balmy night. We loved every single plate, and the service staff wasn’t too intrusive but they were attentive. Beautiful crockery and utensils, and every dish was delightful, my favourite was the fish with Vietnamese sauce, followed by the gorgeously fried oysters. I am a non drinker and unfortunately the kombucha had too much alcohol for me (usually I’m ok with kombucha but this time I don’t think the alcohol content was that low- it gave me a reaction when I drank a sip so we had to leave it- what a waste).

Had a great experience eating here. This was truly an experience in contemporary Vietnamese cuisine. I was with my wife who has some food allergies and they were nice enough to accommodate her. This was the best food we had in Saigon, which is really saying something. Aside from the food, the atmosphere is cozy and the owner was nice enough to talk to our party at the end of our dinner. Will definitely recommend all friends to go there!

Michelin Guide 2024 Selected this new place is hidden in Saigon District 2. The vibe is definitely here, the staffs are really nice and helpful and their fusion cuisine is just one level above. Recommended for a date, you better book your slot as it is often busy since they have been awarded. Open kitchen, you can witness the chef preparing uncommon dishes.

A great dining experience from a next gen chef freshly awarded by Michelin Food: 8.5/10 It would be higher but the last 2 savory dishes held me back. The grilled eel gave me an earthy salty aftertaste but that’s all. I expected the aroma from the broth of a kind of seaweed and eel bones would be a great compliment to the dish, but sadly it can’t. The grilled pawn is not bad but not that good also. I can have similar one in the good seafood place with much cheaper price My most favorite is cuttlefish with stracciatella cheese. The burst of flavor must be kicked by lemon basil sorbet. The combination was so refreshing and appetizing. My 2 main dishes are great. Grilled fish with chili tomato sauce and kombucha rice was nice. Meanwhile, you can never go wrong with a combination of steak and layered potato 🍟 9/10
